noaa straight to a fox news alert. in central is wrote, they were landing at a hospital for evaluation. israeli soldiers who spent 477 days in hamas captivity reunited with their families. >> palestinian prisoners just released as part of a cease-fire deal. >> reporter: good morning. karina and daniela landed in a hospital to be evaluated by a team of doctors and psychologists and they will see more of their family members and friends likely to come to the medical facility. this has been a day of
5:02 am
anticipation, people celebrating as people watch the release of a woman from hamas captivity. this started in gaza city at palestine square, they paraded these women across. the hostages appeared to be in good condition taken to a reunification point, they saw their parents and flown to these hospitals in central israel. this is been a moment 477 days in the macon. they were taken on the morning of october 7th, many of their fellow soldiers were killed. we understand 54 soldiers lost their lives trying to defend southern israel on that david seeing these images of the soldiers reuniting with their families it is so heartwarming
5:03 am
because they were not sure for so long if they were dead or alive. the israelis say hamas is not holding up to their end of the bargain as it relates to phase 1 of this deal. there is supposed to be a female civilian among the group today that was not released. islamic jihad, the group inside gaza believed to be holding her says that she is alive and will be released next week but the israelis looking to put pressure on hamas to ensure they hold their end of the deal. they say they won't allow palestinian civilians to cross from southern to northern gaza. a key line item in the cease-fire agreement until the other israeli civilian is released. that is a long list, dozens of hostages expected to be released in the weeks ahead and if it moves forward as anticipated we will see another hostage release exchange for palestinian prisoners this weekend.
5:04 am
>> civilized people are watching a larger pr game. on the ground, is it possible to determine who is winning this pr war? >> reporter: absolutely. hamas wants to send a few messages, one, that they can still be in control of gaza. part of the reason they are playing these propaganda games by releasing the hostages on a stage to the red cross making them climb onto the stage and sign a document that they released them. giving hostages lanyards that have their photo and information on the lanyard and gift bag when they leave gaza. this is all propaganda and it is meant to send a message to international bodies will be part of the decision-making process in the future that they are in control of gaza and still have popular support and the imagery from gaza city
5:05 am
today was significant, palestine square is a place that in the past hamas has held a number of military parades, their main military wing and today we saw similar images to before october 7th of gunmen in the backs of white pickup trucks parading through the streets and getting out and building a court order to ensure these hostages will be transferred as civilians watched and cheered. as we look forward this is not just for gaza but also the west bank because we know there are thousands of hamas islamic jihad fighters there in public minion polls say hamas still maintains popular support in the west bank at 645 minute from where we are standing right now in cities deeper into the west bank and places like janine, annapolis, this week the israelis launched a new operation into janine to read different hamas islamic jihad cells there but it's another indication that all of this is
5:06 am
connected. there may be a cease-fire inside gaza but hamas wants to use this opportunity to continue the information war against israel and show the palestinian people they maintain control of the situation inside the strip. rachel: their audience is international bodies, other countries. looks like hamas needs to go back to pr school, that scene of the women being paraded on that stage was horrifying. thanks for this report. incredible. thank you. will: pete hegseth will get sworn in this morning as the next secretary of defense. i don't think the vote should have been that close which all the republicans should have voted and nobody is going to remember that if pete hegseth lives up to the promises he made and i am sure he will. i'm glad to see him confirmed. i'm excited for the country and we've got to get our recruitment numbers up, have
5:07 am
the biggest, baddest fighting force we possibly can. pete hegseth in a couple hours is going to be the next secretary of defense. rachel: only the second time in us history that a vice president had to break the tie to get someone over the line and they did it with pete hegseth. here is vice president jd vance talking about that. >> any senators in the chamber wish to vote or change a vote? if not, on this vote, that yeas are 50 in the names are 50. the senate been equally divided the vice president votes in the affirmative and the nomination is confirmed. >> they shouldn't have been any republican defectors but there were and what we wound up with was a pretty dramatic evening
5:08 am
as the vote began. pete and his family came to the capital which is not very common thing. i cannot remember a time i have seen a confirmation vote on the senate floor where you had the nominee and his family in the building and when it got locked at 50/50 we had to wait for jay dee vance to get into the capital and assume his position as president of the senate. rachel: he thought he was done but he wasn't. donald trump says it doesn't matter how he got over the line, it happened, that is a win. watch. >> i think pete is going to be a great secretary of defense, pete hegseth. and we are honored to have. >> i didn't even know that. i just heard that we won. winning is what matters. >> pete went on x and posted
5:09 am
thank you for your confidence and the tiebreaker, mister vice president, thank you, senators for 50 votes. this is for the troops, for the warriors, for our country. america first every day. we will never back down. >> they brought out all the things they could throw at pete and he persevered, donald trump persevered and it reminded a lot of us of the brett kavanaugh hearings where democrats were making up stuff. everything was anonymously sourced. some of it provably false, what i love about it is brett kavanaugh has proved himself, you might not agree with everything he does on the court but proved himself to be a very fine justice of the supreme court and it is punctuation on how ridiculous democrats are when they make up these stories and literally willing to launch any accusation and pete is going to do that as well when the rest of the country learns.
5:10 am
>> if republicans didn't win the race in pennsylvania, montana. people like dave mccormick make all the difference in the world. rachel: we've seen this before. glad you brought up brett kavanaugh and it paid off for donald trump to stick by brett kavanaugh, and pete hegseth and pete hegseth had seen this before and he was going to persevere, not let them bully him out of this. he knew he could contribute by increasing recruitment and bringing the department back to its core mission and he stuck in, his family stuck by him at it paid off and it paid off last night. meanwhile another group that stuck by donald trump and it paid off for them was the pro-life movement, lots of wins for the pro-life movement, releasing of activists who were

wrongly persecuted and imprisoned and also look at this, jay d vance, his first public event, he chose to do at the march for life, that's quite a statement. here he is at the march yesterday. >> a culture of radical individualism took root, one where the responsibilities and joys of family life were seen as obstacles to overcome, not as personal fulfillment or personal blessings. i want more happy children in our country and i want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them and it is the task of our government to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world and welcome them as the blessings that we know they are, that the benchmark of national success is not our gdp number or our

stock market but whether people feel they can raise thriving and healthy families in our country. you make it possible for us to stand here and say that america is fundamentally a pro baby, pro-life and pro-family country. rachel: this is like music to my ears, this is not, these are not talking points, this is deep felt and this is deep, this is talking about the cultural what ails us culturally, this radical individualism, this idea that we are not looking to value families, he is saying make more babies, this is a pro baby party. this is like so different from anything we've seen, you brought up donald trump actually went in person in 2016 and then -- >> making trump the first president.
5:13 am
rachel: the other presidents want to the pro-life vote and social conservatives but they gave some video address from their office, donald trump went in person, jd vance, this is from the heart. >> look at his life story growing up in abject poverty with all the problems that he faced and is such a great messenger. >> a picture of him holding the sign and doing his thing but you talked to some people there. rachel: i did. watch. >> human life is valuable and that goes beyond the babies in the womb a. every life is valuable, that should be the priority of everybody's list and those morals should be sold within un come from the heart. in order to live in a truly progressive society built on a foundation of human rights it has to start with our common human right to life before anything else. every human life deserves the right to life and i'm here for

parents telling their kids they had an abortion and these kids are feeling this profound loss for a sibling they no longer have that they don't have in their life and some were marching for them. it was just profound which i met a family, which we had them in the clip because they were amazing, they have an organization called mama bear cares and they help families who get 18 diagnoses, walk through that process and a lot of people think they all end up not making it. many of them do live as you know from rick santorum, his child is still alive and doing well so a lot of misinformation about that but just an amazing day, these people braving the cold weather and doing it for life. i will say i lobbied on camera now that roe versus wade is over i think it would be a good
