too tiny. i was listening to my doctor and so i lost my job as a comedian. i couldn't perform or act. the comedian mandate. nothing says free speech like inject a covid vaccine in your body. >> steve: fauci just got pardoned. >> dating back to 2014. >> brian: you are being truthful. you were banned. >> i was banned. i started watching you guys. and i go they seem pretty nice. >> steve: now we're watching you on fox nation. no pardon needed. >> brian: we just download the app and you. >> go to fox nation, watch it. a 45 minute comedy special filmed at the comedy mother ship in austin, texas, capital of free speech. >> brian: no one does a better trump except for trump. >> dana: the crackdown is coming into focus under president trump's direction. ice is wracking up thousands of

arrests as week two. bim is off today. good morning, san today. >> sandra: i'm sandra smith. a busy weekend for ice. the agency arresting nearly 300 illegal immigrants on saturday alone and nearly 1,000 on sunday. ice also lodging nearly 800 detainers which means there is probable cause to deport and according to border czar tom homan it is only the beginning. >> you will see the numbers steadily increase nationwide as we open up the app. it is concentrating on public and national security threats. that's a summarily population. we'll do it on a priority basis. as the aperture opens more arrests nationwide. >> dana: we get a look how the deportations are being carried out. agents loading criminal migrants onto a military plane there. the flight penult for their country of origin. >> sandra: one south american leader tried to turn away the

threats but quickly reversed that policy after a fierce response from president trump. more to that as we go to peter doocy. what a weekend it was, peter. >> sandra, this weekend for a few hours at least the columbian president was really dug in against president trump. he was explaining in public why columbia wouldn't accept two u.s. military planes full of columbians. the president said at one point the u.s. cannot treat columbian migrants as criminals. i deny the entry of american planes carrying columbian migrants into our territory. there needs to be a dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them. a 25% tariff threat rising to 50% and after a week. 180 degrees different. part of the new statement said this. the president provides a presidential plane for the
6:03 am
dignified return of his fellow citizens and will lead efforts at the extraordinary assembly of celac. the new press secretary said the iaepe tariffs and sanctions will not be signed unless columbia fails to go along with this. they will remain in effect until the first plane load of columbia people are returned. the president wants to send people back to their country of origin. >> if you have a person who is convicted of a violent crime, whether they are an illegal immigrants or non-illegal immigrant you have to get that person to protect the public safety. that's not unique to immigration. >> president trump wakes up at trump doral in miami today. later on a couple hours from now he will huddle with house republicans there to try to figure out what exactly they can
6:04 am
and cannot stuff into this what they call a big, beautiful spending bill. sandra. >> sandra: no slowing down in sight. peter doocy at the white house for us. >> dana: let's bring in former acting ice director. the cover of the "new york post" this morning, new tariff in town. 100 for 100 when it comes to great headlines. an amazing thing yesterday to have the columbian president try to defy president trump and cave so badly he offered his own planes. >> pretty amazing. it shows we have new leadership in town. i think these countries will realize they will break into two categories. one will be countries that cooperate and the other one will be countries that wish they did. he will make it so painful for them that it won't be worth it for them. hopefully most will fall in the former category and cooperate. it is not worth it for them. there is no reason for them not to be taken their citizens back.
6:05 am
it really shows a stark contrast between the new leadership and previous leadership which seemed to view weakness as virtuous for america always putting america last. these are people in most cases criminals that need to be removed from our country and these countries should accept them back. i think they are going to. it was a great day for the trump administration as far as not only for these particular migrants but overall deterrence for people coming in and those that are here will want to fight any sort of deportation efforts. >> dana: columbian president might serve as an example to others, right? not taking your people back won't be an option. that sets the stage. want to show you here, i won't read them to everybody. look on your screen. these are the number of arrests and actions that have been taken in terms of this action in just week one. it is quite extraordinary how many people are actually out there and who they can find. based on your experience, how
6:06 am
are they able to do this so quickly? did they already know where the people were that they wanted to go and get them? >> yes. this really also just shows what the biden administration hasn't been doing. a lot of these people are sitting in local jails. the people they launched detainers on are people in jail that the previous administration didn't put detainers on. they have known and why they were able to get them. a lot of the things this administration is doing. one of the things stephen miller talked about on friday on fox was creating task forces with local law enforcement and all the federal agencies to go after the illegal migrants, criminals and this is really more than a force multiplier. the federal government does it with drug traffickers, gangs, human traffickers and you get the experience of the local law enforcement in terms of locating people with the federal expertise of federal law enforcement. so the numbers will skyrocket when these numbers are already
6:07 am
at 1,000 a day. >> dana: administration taking heat for how they are being described as going after folks. watch martha raddatz and tom homan this weekend. >> how many ms-13 members are age 14 to 17? many of them. look, the national security threat. public safety threat. what you do is a case-by-case. name other law enforcement agencies that has those types of requirements they can't walk into a school, doctor's office or medical campus. no other agencies have those standards. ice officers need to decide if a national or public safety threat is in one of these facilities there should be an option to make the arrest. >> dana: to keep all this going it requires funds in order to make it happen. watch senator graham this weekend. >> if they will deport people here part of gangs, criminals. 1.4 million who are still here. 680,000 convicted of serious
6:08 am
crimes. to my republican colleagues particularly in the house, as we fiddle our immigration plans are hitting walls. we're not building walls, we're hitting walls. >> dana: last word about that point. how quickly do they need these funds in order to keep doing what they're doing? >> well, i think they'll need funds right away but at least the most important thing they're doing right now is by showing this show of force and show of strength they are deterring new people from coming in. at least we're stopping the flow but money is necessary. it costs $150 billion tax dollars for illegal immigrants to care for them with all their services just last year. so ultimately whatever we spend we'll net on the other end of it over time. >> dana: that's a great point. jonathan, thank you for being here. i'm sure we'll see you again. thank you. >> thank you. >> sandra: all right. house republicans are gathering down south for their annual
6:09 am
issues conference where president trump is expected to address them tonight. the goal to get everyone on the same page for their ambitious agenda. aishah hosni is reporting from doral, florida. >> good morning, sandra. easier said than done to try to get everybody on the same page. you have a slim majority in the house and all these different factions who want different things. a senior house gop source tells us that's the goal of this weekend or this week is to try to get all these different folks on the same page. remember, though, president trump not too long ago before his inauguration invited these folks for in-person meetings down in mar-a-lago to talk about his one, big, beautiful bill including expanding tax cuts, energy legislation, everything and the kitchen sink. the house freedom caucus continue to divert from speaker johnson's plan by lobbying for two different bills, sandra,
6:10 am
with tax cuts put in the latter bill. a group of republicans who want salt caps lifted. another group wants massive, massive cuts. >> i think we're getting close to being there. there is not one person that is going to get absolutely everything that they want in this bill. i think we have to get this bill right because if we get this bill right, we can truly change the trajectory of this country for the next 15 to 20 years. >> so sandra, president trump will try to close the deal by speaking again directly to the house g.o.p. conference later tonight. jd vance will be here to speak to them as well and see if they can finally close the deal this week. >> sandra: aishah hosni looks like a warm doral, florida. >> beautiful. >> dana: senate is moving ahead with president trump's cabinet
6:11 am
nominees. some of the notable picks this week. robert f. kennedy, jr. for hhs secretary. tulsi gabbard for national intelligence and kash patel for f.b.i. director. those are trump's most controversial picks expected to face fiery questions from democrats and you will watch the hearings live here on fox. >> bill: president trump set to take any action on service members discharged over the covid vaccine. >> sandra: adding insult to injury los angeles fire zones finally getting some rain but now comes the fear of mudslides. >> dana: pulling back the origins of c.i.a. they think it might have come from a lab leak. >> they were working on bat coronaviruses here. it all speaks to lab leak as the most likely cause of this.

>> dana: it's the first day of work for secretary of defense pete hegseth. >> an honor to be here. an honor to serve on behalf of the president and behalf of the country. it's an amazing job. is job no one can fathom. i talked to the chairman and so many other folks here, we're in capable hands. the war fighters are ready to go. if you see what the president said last week in his executive orders he is hitting the ground running. he has made it very clear there is an emergency at the southern border that the protection of the sovereign territory of the united states is the job of the defense department. and the cartels are foreign

terrorist organizations. as a result this pentagon snapped to last week to help move forward troops, put in more barriers and also to insure mass deportations, support of mass deportations in support of the president as objective. something the defense department absolutely will continue to do. today more executive orders coming. we fully support on removing d.e.i. inside the pentagon. reinstating troops pushed out because of covid mandates. iron dome for america. this is happening quickly. as the secretary of defense it is an honor to salute smartly as i did as a junior officer and now as secretary of defense to insure these orders are complied with rapidly and quickly. every moment that i'm here i'm thinking about the guys and gals in guam, in germany, in fort benning and fort bragg, missile defense sites and aircraft

[inaudible question] >> dealing with it right now. look forward to working with him. >> dana: secretary of defense pete hegseth. a huge job and a great accomplishment for pete hegseth and congratulations to him and his wife as they get underway. also president trump is expected to sign an executive order today reinstating all servicemen and women dischargeed for refusal to take the covid shot. executive order directs the pentagon to restore all military members active and reserve who requested to return to the army. also have their rank restored and get full back pay. more on that when it happens. >> c.i.a. has assessed the most likely cause of this pandemic that was wrought so much devastation of around the world
6:22 am
was because of a lab-related incident in wuhan. we'll investigate that moving forward. it was important for the american people to see the c.i.a. get off the sidelines and be truthful what our intelligence shows. >> sandra: new assessment on the origins of covid. c.i.a. believes the virus behind the pandemic most likely did leak from a lab. joining us now is jamie, a former nfc state department and u.n. official and expert committee member at the world health organization. first, where are you on this? obviously this is a change that we would see at the federal level on covid. is there still a chance to hold china accountable? >> absolutely. sandra, as you know i'm a liberal democrat and one of the first people in early 2020 to raise the possibility of a research-related origin, a lab accident as the origin of the covid-19 pandemic.
6:23 am
i've been working very aggressively on this for over five years. john ratcliffe was my partner and colleague and our chairman on the heritage foundation. bipartisan commission. it is clear to me for five years and increasingly clear to many other people and certainly the c.i.a. and f.b.i. and department of energy and most people just around the world that the by far most likely origin of covid-19 is a lab accident in wuhan. your question is exactly the right one. how do we get accountability? not just for retribution but to make sure we set a standard you can't launch a global pandemic that leads to 28 million excess deaths and tens of trillions of dollars of damages and get away with it. this is to make the world a safer place. john ratcliffe and i and other commissioners came up with a plan with 18 points of how we can hold china accountable.
6:24 am
the most important piece of this and we have draft legislation on this already is to amend america's foreign sovereign immune tease act to basically let america's courts, let americans sue the chinese government and chinese state entities and agents in u.s. courts for covid-19 and that will force a level of accountability that china has done everything possible for five years to evade. >> dana: there are a number of people who would want to do that considering flashback to the many times that the biden administration through multiple people denied this theory of a lab leak over the years. listen. >> there will be responsibility for funding the lab including yourself. >> i totally resent -- i totally resent the lie that you are now propagating e senator.
6:25 am
>> most coronaviruses that have infected populations, mares, generally come from an animal origin. >> no consensus where covid originated. i will leave it there. >> sandra: leading up to this moment where tom cotton said this with shannon on "fox news sunday" yesterday. >> i said covid probably came from the lab. i didn't have access to scientific knowledge but i used common sense and looked at the facts and understood what chinese communists do. important thing now is we have to make china pay for unleashing this plague on the world. >> sandra: that led the opinion piece to write the c.i.a. is waking up to covid's origin. trump officials can maybe restore the public trust to be more transparent about facts that the biden administration wanted to stay secret. the world health organization. president trump in his earliest days of the second term signed this executive order announcing america's intention to leave the
6:26 am
world health organization to now say he is -- he may consider rejoining it. should we be in? >> i believe we should be in. the united states led the creation of the world health organization in 1948. we've been the lead funder. we've been the lead government in the world health organization since then and not done it as a charity. although it has been charitable. we've done it because generations of americans recognize that our safety and security certainly in the context of public health is connected to the health of the world and well-being of the world. we saw that with pandemic with the covid-19 pandemic. right now we're facing the bird flu potential pandemic. there are so many different dangers e-bola and other things. we need to have an international entity that is working to make us and the world safe. so if we aren't part of the world health organization, we are going to need to recreate
6:27 am
another entity kind of like the who. rather than leaving we need to say democrats, republicans alike we recognize w.h.o. is not where it needs to be. it didn't do as great of a job on -- in the early response to covid-19, like america did a terrible jump oh under the trump administration responding. better to fix the w.h.o. than leave it and now have a lot of leverage. i was very encouraged by what president trump said. maybe we can stay in and let's use this leverage. let's articulate what it will take for the w.h.o. in terms of reform to keep us in and work with our allies to make that happen. >> sandra: you made that suggestion saying he was considering going back in. perhaps by doing so getting to change a few things in it. thank you so much. jamie, good to have you on, thank you. >> dana: well, moments markets open on wall street. good thing sandra is here with me.
