data we received from our federal aviation administration. i want to state for the record our city continues to mourn their loss they are in our thoughts and prayers. we have previously noted and they continue to be here on site with us, providing as much support as possible during this time. noted all six of the individuals who perished on the plane were mexican citizens. the mexican consulate, they continue to be here with us. counsel general carlos thank you again so very much. and again the way information is being distributed, some people have noted how they ever affirm the names of the individuals whose lives or loss on social media. thanks to our partnership and

working with that counsel general and the mexican consulate and out of respect for them we will not be sharing that information until the mexican councounsel it has deemed it appropriate. we can also confirm there was at least one other person who perished. that was the individual i reference to his in the car. there were additional victims who were injured and they are being treated. we talked about at nearby hospitals. that number has now increased to 22. five of the victims remain hospitalized currently three of them are in critical condition. we have not, out of respect for their families and their loved ones shared the names of any of those who have been impacted. please continue to lift them, their families and loved ones up in prayer. our city stands with them and

every victim of this tragedy. the investigators who are at the site are pouring over every bit of material that has been available they will provide very specific updates as soon as possible. yesterday many of you may have witnessed the press are posted by the ntsb. we want you to follow them on twitter or x or whatever you reference it as for subsequent updates. that is the method of communication that they used to make announcements. griff: you are listening to philadelphia mayor giving an update on the tragic crash in philadelphia. the update, five individuals remain hospitalized we will continue to monitor this welcome to "fox news live" i am griff

jenkins. new video and details are emerging for the medical transport plane crash in philly on friday night that killed at least seven people and five still hospitalized. nate foy is on the ground with the very latest. what can you tell us? >> we just got some new numbers from philadelphia's mayor. we still have seven people who were killed, six in the jet. one person in their car after the terrible crash on friday. the number of injured now 22 with three people in critical condition. we have heard back from philadelphia hospitals. we know one pediatric patient has been taken to boston for further care. at least 12 patients we had not previously reported on until today have been discharged from the hospital as well. as investigation continues the ntsb tries to figure out what made that plain taken nose dive into the ground after a one minute of flight time. you see the crash site is still

blocked off behind neighbor take a look at new video that we shot today for the debris field is quite large. we actually counted oxygen tank at a quarter of a mile away from the impact site. there is evidence outside of this perimeter the plane's two engines but they are missing the black box which contains the jet cockpit voice recorder. that something transportation secretary talked about this morning. listen to this. >> until that time we do will not know what went wrong on that flight. we know about 3 miles out it was posted bank to the right it did that slightly, came to the left and took a hard left and into the ground. >> again, we know the jet went down in a crowded neighborhood inside a minute of airtime. right now seven people have been killed. we have been watching and listening to that news conference t i continues to make

sure no other big information comes out of some questions for philadelphia's mayor and other city officials. they did say they're not going to share the names of mothers and daughters receded treatment here in philadelphia were set to fly home. unfortunately died in that crash. the mayor of the mexican city where they live is putting out their names but out of respect and in accordance with the mexican consulate port with the mayor just said and that news conference will refrain from repeating it. back out here liv alive the seah for the black box continue. there are concerns it may be irreparably damaged. obviously that has crucial communications that the pilots made during that dissents. officials here in philadelphia are urging people if they see anything that could resemble the black box which by the way is actually orange in color, to call them for that goes for all evidence. not just the black box of recall authorities do not touch it so

they can com calm and collectedr to send it back to you. griff: a critical part of the investigation. nate foy lifers on the ground in philadelphia. welcome back to you as news warrants, thank you. meanwhile faa main warning system is back online after an outage do the night. this is where learning more about the final seconds before american airlines flight was hit by a blackhawk helicopter over the potomac river here in washington wednesday night fox news correspondent grady trimble live with the very latest. >> pilots use that system comments and faa system for the uuser to communicate safety info like flight conditions, whether their hazards on runaway slaves or to download their create flight briefings. that system went down around 11:00 p.m. last night for his just restored about an hour ago. for about 12 hours the faa was using a backup system to the main notice to eric mission

system. and as a result of that today there are around 1400 flights across the country that have been delayed thus far. even though the system is back up and running as of this moment. we would also point out that our development into the investigation into the horrific crash of that commercial airline flights on wednesday night. what we believe is the first time if family members have come to reagan national since that crash occurred this morning. those family numbers gathered on that runway just across from where we are for a memorial service along the potomac river. that service lasted about an hour per ntsb over the past several days has been meeting with them as they come into town and try to answer as many questions as they can about the mid air collision. we did learn a lot of new info pry the most illuminating press comments ntsb is held to date yesterday evening. the ntsb tells us five air

traffic controllers working at the time of the crash. only one of those controllers was communicating with planes in the air as well as helicopters in the air of the time of the crash. we have had the black boxes from the blackhawk helicopter the two black boxes from the american plane. the black box from the plane which is the most accurate measure of altitude shows a plane was around 325 feet in the air at that moment of impact. but, preliminary data indicates the control tower saw the helicopter around the same time was at about 200 feet. ntsb has yet to explain that discrepancy. they say they are also looking into it. we also know the american plane pulled up in the moments before impact despite these questions about whether the helicopter was flying too high and staffing levels at the air traffic control tower or too low,

transportation secretary sean duffy reiterates today it is still safe to fly. looks of the safest skies in the whole world. traveling by air is the safest mode of transportation. if it was it not safe if there's an issue with air traffic controllers or staffing that could not keep the system and the people safe in it, the faa would shut it down. >> recovery efforts continue in the potomac river. so far d.c. fire city has pulled 42 victims from the river. that means there are still many more families waiting for their loved ones to be brought ashore. griff: are at grady tremble live for us at reagan national airport. thank you. for more on both of these tragic pressures for my faa administrator airline pilot dan, thank you for being here. this outage on the heel of back-to-back tragedies has got

americans wondering. even though we heard from secretary duffy everything is safe. wondering if there are questions about safety what is your thoughts on this? >> the outage last night unlike the outage two years ago that resulted in a grounded stop, a system standdown, this time though faa was ready. they had a third party bringing information live into the system to supplement and make up for the outage until they fixed it. there is no need for a shutdown no harm to safety. there may have been some schedule delays we may be seeing some of those. but it was relatively seamless with the new system that augmented and stepped in when the system went down. griff: it is interesting because as a pilot in an faa administrator you note the acronym but it stands for written notice to air missions

the faa primary alert system. two planes, that actually had a different name prior to the biting ministration. >> i was in aviation a long time, over four ears it was always notices to airmen notices to the people getting ready to fly so they would have the information they needed. it was notices to airmen they change it to our mission. griff: unnatural interesting pronoun change the presence taking a lot of criticism for talking about things like this and who knows. thank goodness it is backup. let's talk though, we are fortunate to have your experience here today because for 15 years you flew american airline flights into washington. you have obviously dealt with that helicopter corridor at the challenges in this airspace unlike others you now know secretary duffy has restricted helicopters right now. speak if you can to the

challenges in the conversation that eventually will come about whether or not we need to re-examine having such a busy corridor? >> it is a very unique airport operation environment being so close to many restricted areas. obviously the capitol region and the pentagon is so close. also being sort of restricted by geography. commercial carriers are not the only ones who use the river going north and south. mostly for noise abatement. as we know lots of helicopter traffic and other traffic. it's worked very well for many years. but it is a complex operational environment. griff: it let me ask you about, is watching the press conference last night ntsb member todd inman talking about what they know about altitudes so far. it seems to be a bit of a

discrepancy as grady pointed out. here's what inman had to say, listen here. >> the initial data we have on the control tower cap says 200 feet would have been visualized. this is a fairly good estimate but he needs to be finalized i should say it's a fairly good initial read. it needs to be finalized. it is operating at 325 feet plus or minus 25. >> you are talking about cr j at 325 give or take 25 feet the black off at roughly 200 when you make of the discrepancy of the distance that's 100 feet? >> i do not have any input on what they are citing from the tower. the data that tells 325 feet for that cr j is going to be the +-plus-minus-sign 25 is basically the height from gear to tip of tail.

that is the variance there. it's already been reported a lot of discussion 200 been the ceiling for helicopter operations along the river corridor for and one at that spot. the reason for that is of course because that guarantees even if both pilots to have site on each other which was in this case, 200 and200 keep the helicopter c low enough for an approach to 33, normal approach to 33 to land. what happened? what the helicopter pilot saw or didn't see or what they did will come out in the investigation. griff: the 10 seconds i've got left with respect to philly we heard that news they have yet not found the black box of that medevac jet. they do not find it might we never know what caused that

counter inflationary and ultimately lead in what he calls this golden age. that is his pushback, what say you? >> it's a brand-new world. what we know is many americans, many american companies are not just warning about the tariffs whether it's the retailers, the shoemakers, steelworkers, united auto workers warning as he tears. warning there be higher prices. we are seeing a bull market in d a lobbying. every lobbyist is working looking for exemptions. that tariffs will breed more corruption, more payoffs, president trump has amazing ambitious goals. we would like to see them achieved but it is unclear, at least to many economists whether tariffs and taxes on americans will achieve those goals. griff: let's hear about the auto auto. we hear a lot about the pain and americans in the short term may feel in regards to the auto industry with both canada and mexico. what does that look like for us in the near future? and potentially over a course of

months of this continues. >> often auto parts, elements are manufactured in canada, manufactured in the u.s., manufactured and mexico shipped from place to place. it is so multifaceted. so fascinating and intricate about tax on trade at large has such wide ranging effects. that which is seen in that which is unseen. this has such far-reaching impacts for the ceos big and small are scrambling to look at their supply chains you might say people move out of importing from china but we could see for example imports from vietnam pickup. this going to be a lot of supply chain rejiggering its difficult to tell of the net result will be for the new tariffs and the new taxes. it's a brand-new world we have seen taxes like this in decades in america. cook was fascinating to me and this is my last question for you, jonathan and great insight as always.
