>> emily: breaking just moments ago, president trump a greeting to pause at the anticipated tariffs to mexico for one month hours before they went into effect. sending 10,000 troops to the border as part of the agreement which reverts a trade war with our southern neighbors for now. and trump's next call today is to canada's prime minister justin trudeau. this is "outnumbered." here with my cohost harris faulkner and kayleigh mcenany, also joining us today marie harf, fox news contributor and former state department spokesperson under president obama, and brian kilmeade, fox & friends cohost, host of the brian kilmeade radio show and one nation with brian kilmeade. now the move to end those proposed tariffs came after a phone call between president trump and mexican

president claudia sheinbaum. she said the deal marks the respectful relationship between our two nations. president trump is set to speak with prime minister trudeau just hours from now. the president defended the tariffs over the weekend, watch. >> canada has been very abusive of the united states for many years. we subsidize canada by the tune of about $200 billion a year and for what? why do we get out of it? we don't get anything out of it. i love the people of canada. i disagree with the leadership of canada and something is going to happen there, but if they want to play the game, i don't mind. >> emily: prime minister trudeau teased retaliatory tariffs against the u.s. and told canadians to be prepared for the impending trade war. >> and now is also the time to choose canada. there are many ways for you to do your part, it might mean checking the labels at the

the fentanyl crisis, or the same immigration crisis, but the liberal mainstream media, they called it the dumbest trade war in the american history for no reason. if we put these tariffs in place of canada, housebuilding, lumber, cars, oil, the number of things that will cost more for american citizens because of this trade war again for no reason with canada, donald trump promised to bring prices down, we saw the market this morning, they hate these tariffs. we see senators like ron johnson, a conservative republican saying tariffs or taxes on the american people, chuck grassley to eating that is pleading with donald trump to let things that help his state be exempted from this. this is stupid economic policy. it will cost the american taxpayer more every single day if donald trump follows through. and it's unclear what he wants from canada. mexico, i get it. though border troop, what does he want from canada? >> and i can help with that. there is a little bit of fence

and all coming over in a little bit is always too much, but the focus is on actual security. i'd congressman john james on. and he said we know right now peace through strength works here at home, 86% of the tariffs on the fbi watch list actually come through on our northern border. it's about security. you can say two things are true, you can say that fentanyl on the southern border is worse than it is on the northern and that is true, you can also say that that terror watch list counts and if 86% of that terror watch list is coming from the north, that's reason to want to talk to canada. they have artie spoken at length today. so we are waiting on the second phone call today with justin trudeau and trump. i'm going to guess he calls he calls trump, and when you have been called the potential mayor of the 51st city because you are running things out on her border i don't know how that call will go, but it might sound a lot like mexico's call. we will do what we can and can you delay this by at least 30 days while we talk nice to each

protest, and the police led to 101 freeway with everything that the trauma that everything los angeles has been through, traffic anyway on a sunday, now they let them shut down an unpermitted protest until 6:00 at night, it's unbelievable, and then to burn, to understand the mexican flag, and el salvador flag is not going to sell your story, your story is like i feel like an american, instead you are saying i feel like a mexican and deserve to take over, what do the signs that say to stolen land anyway? that won't win over today's america, might've been fantastic in 2020, we are not buying it now. between that and what is happening with marco rubio to shut down the gap, the venezuela taking back their people, what is happening on so many different ways, there is a massive crackdown in american in illegal immigration. >> harris: can we talk about the darien gap that's going to save a lot of lives of women and children in particular. that is some of the most harshest ground to traverse on the planet.

an unsolved murder who was released by joe biden into the interior? who exactly are you protecting? how about the guy in buffalo who is someone who is accused of all kinds of trafficking it was found with an innocent young woman who he is believed to be trafficking at that moment? this is who we are going after, so work with us to protect the innocent and ask humanity really landlady by stopping some of the things we are seeing. >> harris: the worst go first, who would defend against that? marie? >> marie: the trump team has said that the worst go for a spirit. >> harris: there's a lot of transparency, we see. >> marie: i've been on this network many times, i support convicted criminals being deported. we said from the early flights took columba lim at columbia and included pregnant women, and children. >> harris: did they come over illegally? >> marie: they did not commit crimes. a spin on first is that. >> marie: speaking with people

that's convicted violent crimes. let me finish, are we okay deporting pregnant women that have not committed a crime except for coming here, then the donald trump team should say that. freedom of expression and protest is still legal in this country, we may not like it, and to brian's point, i think you make a good point about who are they trying to convince here, who are are they trying to convince. i think that some of the most effective arguments i've seen made are for example people in the restaurant industry. people in the home health care industry, industries that rely on emigrants both legal, undocumented people going through the system and are willing to work with law enforcement to say, our entire -- parts of this entire city we are sitting in which shut down if every person who came here illegally was deported. so how do we do this in a way that to kayleigh's point protects people from criminals, does not shut down the economy including the agriculture sector, that's a challenge right now. >> harris: emily.

pennsylvania, gretchen whitmore, amazing members of congress, who is willing to work with republicans to protect our country, i think that that is on the ground where we win this back, because we are seeing the american people turned against president trump's policy is, people like tariffs, a majority of the american people do not support a trade war. with all due respect to the dnc, i don't think we win voters back in the heartland with a meeting in d.c. i think we win district by district with people fighting for lower prices, pointing out the illegality and unethical behavior of the trump administration and win on the issues, not them for years, but in two years, we have a congressional midterm coming up for us, and republicans, i think that they should be a little nervous. >> kayleigh: i did not anticipate agreeing with you, but ken martin is probably not where you getting your mojo back. he accuse president trump of treason, that works so well, when "the new york times" calls

your party leaderless, rudderless, divided, they have no shared understanding of why they lost the election, never mind how they can win in the future, these are your friends at "the new york times." >> brian: absolutely, and i hope for the country you are right, because like senator fetterman, i look at schapiro, center left, center right, i think that center left is the key for democrats being competitive. but it's also good for the country. if someone like aoc becomes the stalwart or the flag bearer and she wins, the country will not be recognizable. and i just think that if governor shapiro or these people lead, they will see some things where i agree with the president on this, senator fetterman says pennsylvania like sam, governor whitmore came out and said the president is very popular in michigan, so as a leader, it's smart to pick some issues to get along with the president in. >> kayleigh: what may be smart is listening to some of these vulnerable democrats. democrats and red states like this individual, so listen to what he said. his name is adam fresh, and a

red district. he said this, 20 big cities, aspen on martha's vineyard, that's what is left of the democratic party. harsh words, but true words coming down to seven cities. >> and you know what, just back a moment to what murray was saying looking for the mojo. and i see the dancing and i have to assume that that was poll tested, because the joy was something that was positive that came out of kamala harris' campaign. so i know that democrats wholeheartedly believe that if they dance and sing and off and bring back the joy, but it did not work. it did not just work because you have the wrong candidate atop the ticket, it also does not feed people and there are no answers in it hurts all of the dancing in the joy too, i'm not kidding about that. i do it all the time. but you don't vote because of that. so i would say that first and then the other thing somebody you barely know taking over the party, what about all of those firebrands. i think you said you don't want josh shapiro, at least kamala harris did, who does she represent in your party? certainly not going to be the
