6:00 am
>> ainsley: good job. >> brian: all ages, too. fantastic. were you pumped up for tomorrow? we'll give philadelphia their due. >> ainsley: abby hornacek will have breakfast with friends near a lincoln financial field. >> this guy was a quarterback in the nfl for years. >> lawrence: tomorrow we'll have tom brady at 8:30 eastern time. >> brian: we'll make the whole half hour. we'll -- tom brady has that kind of power. >> lawrence: we'll start producing the show ourselves. >> ainsley: sunday at 1:00 eastern time we have the pre-game show. >> lawrence: bret baier with his interview with donald trump at 3:00 p.m. and we'll see you all tomorrow. >> dana: the maga makeover is in full force. trump and musk pushing ahead to
6:01 am
reshape washington. today walks the arrival of a key doge deadline. >> john: today millions of government employees must accept a buy-out or take chances under president trump. more than 40,000 people have already accepted the offer. unions are suing over the buy-out saying they violate federal law. >> dana: job cuts are drawing criticism from democrats and republicans argue it is long overdue. >> it is not our money, it is the taxpayer money. our duty is to safeguard that money and i think elon musk is putting a spotlight on that maybe democrats don't want a spotlight on. >> real innovation is not clean and tidy. it is necessarily disruptive and messy but that's exactly what washington needs. >> they have to pick a villain and it is elon musk. god forbid the most successful
6:02 am
entrepreneur in the world right now would come in as a consultant. >> as all of that is swirling president trump about to address his second prayer breakfast of the morning. he just addressed this room on capitol hill. we'll bring you his second address live when it happens. >> dana: team fox coverage this morning. chad pergram on capitol hill. let's go to jackui hinrich at the white house. >> the deadline for the buy-out is midnight tonight. the 40,000 who have accepted so far is short of the five to 10% of the workforce that the white house expected to quit. there are reports that doge associates are urging people to take this eight-month paid vacation and also detailing possible layoffs if they choose instead to stay. democrats are demanding that president trump fire elon musk calling him an unelected bureaucrat with unchecked power as he tries to check wasteful
6:03 am
spending. some said millions of people should protest musk. ilhan omar said we might see somebody get killed. the white house says it is not preparing for any such battle. >> are any officials here preparing to fight democratic lawmakers in the streets? >> absolutely not. may i just point out if you heard that type of violence enticing rhetoric from our side of the aisle, from republican leaders on capitol hill, i think there would be a lot more outrage in this room today. it is unacceptable. >> some democrats are urging colleagues to hold their fire. there is no public appetite to save much of what musk is trying to kill. jill biden's former press secretary. >> this is not the hill we want to die on, right? the country does not really like
6:04 am
foreign aid. i learned this from watching the west wing in the 90s. it is not a popular subject with mainstream america nor are federal workers. play the long game and stop being distracted by these shiny objects. >> president trump was up early this morning posting on truth social about more waste doge uncovered. "politico" seems to have received 8 million times. "the new york times" received money. who else did? perhaps the biggest scandal in industry. the democrats can't hide from this one. too big and too dirty. a payoff for the outlet to write good stories about democrats. usa spending website shows the money funded "politico" pro subscriptions for staffers. a curious expense with those subscriptions costing up to 15,000 for three users, dana. >> dana: a lot. jackui, thank you so much. >> john: it's why they needed to
6:05 am
spend $8 million. on the hill senate democrats protesting late into the night as the trump administration works to slash spent. we have the latest on that. >> democrats kept the senate in session all night to protest doge. elon musk and the nomination of russ vought as budget director. they believe musk and vought who interfere with the constitutional authority of congress to control the purse strings. >> so everybody needs to understand that russ vought represents a very specific view of presidential power, which is essentially unitarian executive. his view that once you win you are basically a monarch. >> democrats judy chu and gwen moore went to speaker johnson's office. he was set to talk with bessent. they were upset about access
6:06 am
elon musk has to the payment system at the department of treasury. johnson contends congress has not ceded power of the purse to musk and doge. >> we don't see it as a threat to article one at all but an active, engaged, committed executive branch authority doing what they should do. this is not a usurp of authority. >> many republicans like it as doge looks for wasteful programs. >> too often we let things go for years and decades without re-evaluating what it is you are doing, where it is you are spending your money. are you wasting money? i think elon musk is putting a spotlight on things that maybe democrats don't want a spotlight on. >> they can only delay confirmation of vote. the senate broke of filibuster yesterday. the time for their protest expires at 7:00 p.m. tonight and
6:07 am
should be confirmed on a party line vote. >> john: thank you. >> dana: before this week, many people in america might not have heard of usaid. this is the entity now going to be under marco rubio city state department doling on this kind of money. $19 million for food assistance to migrants mostly leaving venezuela to go to columbia. columbia might have needed assistance. sometimes you help out an ally. this one $14,000 for gender equality for climate change opportunities in tanzania. think of a lot of other things they might need there. the democratic process in syria got $8 million. didn't work out so well. strengthening trans organizations in guatemala. they might need help, i don't think it's necessarily that. in bangladesh if you've been following things happening there, support for gender diversity doesn't seem like the best one to the best hill to die on as we've been using that phrase a lot this week. josh holmes, co-host of the
6:08 am
ruthless podcast and joins us now. i think usaid is getting some much-needed attention and it will get a lot of change as well. >> rough week at usaid and a long time coming. this is something the american people have been begging an administration of either party to look at over the last 20 years. as you can see what's happened is there is a pervasive effort on the progressive left to turn these ngos, non-governmental associations across the world, into social justice, climate, activism basically. you saw by those examples that you highlighted they are indefensible for american taxpayer dollars to go. i find fascinating. you just ask the question and democrats in washington act like you are at the normandy invasion. this is a threat to democracy all of a sudden. i think it should tell you a lot where they see their base of support coming from these days.
6:09 am
not across the country, it is in washington, d.c. and the bureaucracy. >> john: speaking of the democrats and parroting what dana said they have picked this hill to die on. let's share with the folks at home a little of the rhetoric. >> i want to hear loud and clear hey hey, ho ho, elon musk has got to go. >> if elon musk wins and our foreign assistance completely ends, who will cheer and who will win? the cartels will win, terrorists will win. >> we will fight their violations of our constitution of the united states of america. we will not shut up. we will stand up. we will speak up. >> john: in terms of who else is on that hill willing to die with them, reuters did a poll asking people if they support or oppose
6:10 am
freezing all u.s. funded foreign assistance programs, 56% support a freeze. i don't know if the democrats saw this or not, josh, but they would appear to be very alone on that big hill. >> very, very alone, john. also kind of seems like they have a humiliation fetish at this point. how much more awkward you can get protesting outside of usaid sounding like a bunch of lunatics frankly. this is a very mainstream deal. the idea that you cancel "politico" pro subscriptions requires this full-scale effort. again, it underscores what their priorities are. they have made an entire career, most of them, out of this federal bureaucracy which has become the new democratic base. that's why they are so upset. they don't want anybody looking at any of it. >> dana: they campaigned on the threats to democracy. listen to chris murphy, senator
6:11 am
here on msnbc. >> there is a tipping point at which you can't get your democracy back. i see all of these very purposeful lines of effort that the trump administration and elon musk are taking and i think we just have to be right now at this moment on, you know, red alert mode. if we don't stop this very soon, it is going to be hard to mount a credible political opposition in the not so distant future. >> dana: i read in one of my newsletters yesterday, a democrat who said resistance is futile. message might not have gotten to chris murphy yet. >> it has not gotten to chris. we all know, dana, that trans studies in tanzania are a global threat to democracy. it is absurd. they are searching for a message. donald trump has got these guys on their heels. elon musk has a plan and he is
6:12 am
executing against it. they don't know how to catch up. all these protests, everything they talk about is two days late, right? we're already building golf courses in gaza and they are talking about usaid "politico" pro subscriptions. they are always a half step behind. they are a day late and a dollar short just on the argument as your polls show. this is a popular thing the trump administration is doing. >> dana: quips like that you want to listen to the ruthless podcast. thank you for joining us today. >> president trump: we will defend the proud tradition of female athletes and we will not allow men to beat up, injure and cheat our women and girls. from now on women's sports will be only for women. >> john: president trump signing a no men in women's sports executive order yesterday. he was joined by dozens of female athletes. nothing short of an incredible
6:13 am
moment at the white house. >> president trump: you know, if you would like to gather around me i think i will be okay. come on, come on. secret service is worried about them? if we have to worry about them, we have big problems. okay, do you want to do this? watch what i do and then i'll give you some pens, okay? are you ready? what a nice picture this is, huh, governor? are you ready. we'll do a good job. i want to make this a really good signature. this is a big one, right? oh, i think we have a ten. we have a ten. [cheers and applause]
6:14 am
john a lot of support in that room for the order that keeps biological men out of girls and women's sports and declares there are only two genders, male and female. president trump announcing the transgender athletes will not be permitted to the 2028 olympic games in los angeles. that could set up an interesting conversation with the international olympic committee. >> dana: i thought that was one of the most well mastered stage crafts at a white house in a long time. reminded me of the snowflake event in 2006 for children as well. and those girls will never forget that and they will never forget who fought for them. super interesting that marco rubio has the task of talking to the international olympic committee and see what happens there. sure to be a big one. >> john: we should note the ncaa has said thank you very much for the guidance. the guidance is clear. looks like the ncaa will follow
6:15 am
suit. we'll see. >> dana: get this from karoline leavitt as well. >> president trump is getting more cabinet picks confirmed so far than the average president in the modern era. another success story. we believe it's critical that republicans in the senate majority stay tough and keep their foot on the gas. >> dana: newly sworn in attorney general pam bondi hits the ground running with a flurry of gift while democrats drag their heels and try to delay confirmation votes for other cabinet nominees. >> john: putting politics aside for faith. any moment now president trump will speak for the second time this morning as he attends the national prayer breakfast in washington. >> dana: a large scale enforcement operation targeting a violent venezuelan gang underway in colorado. fox news is on the scene and we'll bring it to you exclusively. >> we talk a lot about worst first. we're going after really bad actors. you know the criminal history, sex trafficking, kidnapping.
6:16 am

>> dana: a second national prayer breakfast just kicking off. president donald trump has just taken the podium. let's go to him now. >> president trump: bigger and better than ever before. this is a good start. we have to have religion. it suffered greatly over the last few years but it is coming back. it's coming back strong and i want to thank you, pastor paul, who i have known for a long time. a fantastic person and thanks to the thousands of believers here today from all across the country and from all around the world.
6:22 am
this is a beautiful tradition. they told me i could do it via skype. and i said what are we doing? and they said the prayer breakfast. i said i've been there every year. i'm not doing it via skype. [cheers and applause] i'm going to be there. it is not that far. it is like about two minutes down the road. in fact, it was easier to do this than put up a skype deal. destroy the white house putting up all that stuff. i want to be here with you. and i have been here with you. [cheers and applause] i do that despite the fact that they say i can't run again. that's the expression. sir, and somebody said i don't think you can. oh.
6:23 am
[laughter] no, i want to be with you regardless and it is an honor and something i've enjoyed. i have met some very nice democrats here. [laughter] it's true. i have. but this is a beautiful tradition that started with president eisenhower in 1953 and i wouldn't miss it for the world. four long years, really, they were very long, dark years in my opinion. it's great to be back at the prayer breakfast and i hope you all agree it's nice to once again have a president that shows up to the prayer breakfast. [cheers and applause] and that agrees to be interviewed for the super bowl. i'm doing that, too. they haven't done it in so long they forgot about it. they said oh, but they hadn't
6:24 am
done it in years. but i said this morning they wanted to know and i said why not, what the hell? the way i look at it, they ask you a question and you give them an answer. it's not that hard. but they didn't show up for years. so they were almost shocked when i said yeah, why not? but i want to thank our great newly-confirmed secretary of the interior, doug burgum. who is fantastic by the way, being here this morning. i don't know -- where is he? where is he? with the lights i can't -- you are a handsome devil. he is a good-looking guy. an even better looking wife, i can tell you that. but i want to thank you and kathryn. you have been fantastic. i knew immediately. he was running in a group of people and i spotted him immediately and i said that guy is a winner.
6:25 am
he didn't get the gravitas, you have to be controversial to get that and in many cases a horrible human being. you get a lot of gravitas that way. he is a very good and smart human being. i said he is really outstanding and will do a job can chris wright, the two of them. a partnership with interior and energy. he will have more liquid gold coming out of the ground and we'll drive the price down and everything else will follow. he is one of the really important people. he is a very, very great gentleman. was a fantastic governor, by the way. and really did -- sort of learned the oil business as a governor. he made a lot of money, which i like. i like people that make money. that means they can help us. and they always like me to put in people that have failed. they want, please, sir, he has
6:26 am
made too much money and he has become too successful. they want me to hire people that have totally failed to run department of energy. somebody that lost all his life, i don't want to do it. i know it sounds like but i want to get somebody so successful. we have to bring the country back and him and chris will be unbelievable, i really believe it. but i want to thank you very much, doug, for what you have gone through. you have gone through a lot but he was easily approved because he is an honest person. he gave a statement, they read it, they said thank you. as well as our co-chairs representative ben cline and jonathan jackson, thank you very much. thank you, fellows. [applause] congressman eric burrellson and visiting dignitaries from more than 120 countries. from the beginning of our republic america has always been a nation founded by people of
6:27 am
faith and strengthened by the power of prayer and united by four simple but very beautiful words, in god we trust. [applause] and you all know there was a movement to get that out. i said no way, don't bring it up. don't bring it up. i don't want to hear it. there was a movement. we don't want that. we shouldn't be mentioning god. you know, there was a very strong movement just like they don't want to say merry christmas but now they say it. remember in 2016 that was a part of my campaign. you'll say merry christmas. now they do it again. but we -- [applause] i don't know if you've been watching but we got rid of woke over the last two weeks. that is gone. [cheers and applause] despite the other side stealing hundreds of millions of dollars to promote woke. did you see what happened yesterday where they found hundreds of millions of dollars
6:28 am
of money was fraudulently given to newspapers and i guess "politico", i don't know if they're here. i hope you are enjoying your breakfast. they gave money to all this -- out of u.s. -- usaid. it came out hundreds of tremendous amounts of money that had nothing to do with anything. this is a terrible thing that was experienced but we are catching them left and right. we're catching them. we are catching them to a point where they don't know what the heck is going on. they can't believe they are getting caught. i have great respect for the people that are doing it. elon musk is helping us on it. [applause] he is pretty good. he is pretty good at it. the numbers are astounding, astounding.
6:29 am
even doug was shaken up by what he heard. can you believe that, doug, what you've been reading? it's just very dishonest stuff. it was faith that led the pilgrims to cross an ocean and settle this majestic continent and we'll keep it majestic. it was belief in our creator that moved the patriot farmers to stand strong for liberties and concord bridge 250 years ago this april and we'll have a big party next year and we have the olympics coming in and we have the world cup coming in and we have the 250th year celebration, all three. you know when i was president i got the olympics and i got the world cup, 250 years i have nothing to do with, just happened to be. but it all came due, the presidency after what was -- what should have been mine, really should have been, and
6:30 am
they had a little election that let's just say didn't work out too correctly. other things have been found out about that. i got forced to run again and i ran again and now i have the olympics, world cup and 250. so i said this is interesting, you know? when i got them i said the only bad thing about the olympics is i won't be president. the only bad thing about getting the world cup. i worked hard to get it. everybody wants the olympics and world cup. the only bad thing was i said, you know, i won't be president and i might not -- when you are not president you might not be invited. isn't it sad? all of a sudden i run and win and said sir, you have to start thinking about the olympics. you're right. i never thought that about during the campaign. i'll be here for the olympics and the world cup. god works in very strange ways. [applause] [laughter] but we had a great election and won by a massive majority.
6:31 am
won all seven swing states, the popular vote by millions of people. a mandate and some say the most consequential election in 129 years. i'm a believer like you are a believer and we want to have a believer in this position. [applause] it was confidence in america's god-given decemberty niece that led americans to end slavery, crush fascism, defeat communism and the challenges we face. they were great challenges. unyielding faith in america's mission that inspires us to make our country great again and soon it will be greater than ever. we're doing really well. we're doing really well. it is -- i think in two weeks they're saying, i'm reading it
6:32 am
and i'm not saying it but i feel it. we've done more than just about any president ever the first two weeks they say the most successful two weeks in the history of any presidency. now all we have to do is keep it going for another couple hundred weeks. it has been very successful. if this guy gets a lot of oil out of the ground to bring down everybody's prices it will be better. you shouldn't be here, doug rick get out of here and start looking for oil. after years of decline americans are reasserting our true identity as a people ordained by god to be the freest and most exceptional nation ever to exist on the faith of the earth. we weren't that for four years, i don't believe we were. and we are getting there very soon, very quickly i will be able to say it and able to say it again. as i said in my inaugural address two weeks ago a light is now shining over the entire world.
6:33 am
i'm hearing it from other leaders and from leaders that have traditionally not been on our side, that there is so much more -- such a good feeling in the air, so different than it was just a short time ago. because here in america we are once again a nation that believes in ourselves, we believe in our destiny and trust in the providence of almighty god. and i can tell you the opposite side, opposing side and they oppose religion, oppose god, they've lost their confidence. they've lost their confidence. it's a different group of people than i remember. over the past two weeks our strength has been restored, our spirit has been revived and a new national momentum has been sweeping across our land. the golden age of america is officially begun and i will tell you just read it this morning statistic just came out that in
6:34 am
the last 15 years, we just broke the record, army recruitment. they think it will be 25 years but right now it's 15. more than 15. army recruitment has gone up. you probably have been reading it's been way down in the dumps and recruitment is the highest it has been in more than 15 years and that will get higher and it could be 25 years. that will get higher and higher. and that's tremendous thing. [applause] that's a tremendous thing. a poll came out that the spirit of the country is up 49%. where did you hear that? that's a record. that's gone up over just since the election since november 5th. what a great day. was that a great day? [applause] we are going to make our country great again after years of stagnation. our economy is roaring back to life. optimism is soaring, hope is returning and we have brought
6:35 am
back the words common sense to our government. we had a big day yesterday. you saw that having to do with men in women's sports no longer, it is over. [applause] we're going to be securing our borders, defending our freedoms and restoring the principle of meritocracy. merit-based country again. we have a supreme court ruling to that effect. nobody thought that would happen. it was a great ruling. it didn't get the kind of notoriety that other things get but in its own way it was about as important as anything. it gave us the right to go back to a merit-based. we're a merit-based country now based on competence, intelligence and ability and all of the things that really can make a country great. around the world america is being respected again and you
6:36 am
are already witnessing a very -- some very incredible results just days before taking office, my team negotiated a breakthrough cease-fire agreement to stop the blood shed and killing in the middle east and return the hostages held captive by hamas back home to their loved ones. [applause] and as the bible says, blessed are the peacemakers. in that end i hope my greatest legacy when it is all finished will be known as a peacemaker and a unifier. i hope that will be true. [applause] when i left we had no wars, we had no problems, we had no inflation, we had no -- all we had was we were going to go up. and i came back we have russia, ukraine, the middle east exploded. all of these things would have never happened and inflation the worst in the history of our country. but we're joined today by several brave families whose loved ones were taken hostage
6:37 am
during the october 7th horrible attack, 16 months ago. and i know i speak for everyone here today when i say that we are keeping you in our hearts and prayers and please stand up. if you are one of the people who have been so gravely affected, please stand. [applause] thank you. thank you very much. they are coming in, more are coming in today. they are coming in. it is a very traumatic situation, very tough as the people know that are here with us. but they are coming in. and i made a statement and i meant it totally that if they are not home by the time i get into office all hell will break loose in the middle east. and i think they respected that statement so we'll see. but we have more hostages to come and we hope they live up to
6:38 am
their word. and i have to say who knows if that is going to happen, but one way or another it will work out. it will all work out. as president i will not rest until every remaining hostage has been returned to their families. [applause] so thank you all for being here. appreciate it. also with us is an incredible survivor of october 7th, what a horrible day that was. that would have never happened, iran was broke. they had no money to pay to hamas or hezbollah. they were stone cold broke. and when i left. they started selling their oil again and took the sanctions off and they did everything wrong. i would like to say the opposite of that. i would much prefer saying the opposite but they did everything wrong. that includes with russia and ukraine. that should have never happened also. all those millions of kids.
6:39 am
soldiers are just being decimated. two countries, probably 800,000 russians, 600 to 700,000 ukrainians. young people just laying on a battlefield dead. it is a horrible situation going on over there. we're working very hard. i think making progress to stop it. also with us is an incredible survivor of october 7th who was held captive by hamas for more than eight months. noah was the music festty call, she was at the music festival and attacked on that terrible day. where are you? thank you very much. [applause] thank you very much. that's great that you are here. i watched you on television. i don't know what you are doing
6:40 am
but you look like a much younger person. i don't know what the secret is. please give it to all of us. for 245 harrowing days noah showed unwavering strength, courage and faith as she endured the unendureable, really, what she went through. but by the grace of god she was rescued by the israeli defense forces and now she has come back to pray with us this morning and such an honor to have you. you are really an inspiration, noah, to all of us. thank you very much. [applause] the innocent civilians attacked on october 7th were targeted for one reason, because they were jews. they were murdered and kidnapped because of their faith and these events remind us of ow blessed we are to live in a nation that has thrived for 2 1/2 centuries as a haven of religious freedom.
6:41 am
the last four years have been very difficult. a very difficult thing for me to have made that statement if this speech was taking place two years ago. my administration is absolutely committed to defending this proud heritage and i will always protect religious liberty. [applause] that is why today i'm honoring a lot of people but announcing that i will be creating a brand-new presidential commission on religious liberty. it will be a very big deal which will work tirelessly to uphold this most fundamental right. unfortunately in recent years we've seen the sacred liberty threatened like never before in american history. there is nothing happened like the last four years what's happened with so many things have gone bad but religion, what
6:42 am
they have done and the persecution that they've executed have been just horrible. for example, most of us would not have believed it possible that a grandmother with a severe medical condition, quite elderly woman, would be put in jail for praying here in america. she was put in jail because she was praying. but we are joined today by a woman who was, 75 years old, paulette harlow was sentenced to two years if prison for peacefully praying outside of a clinic charged under an obscure law not used in years, selectively weaponizeed against christians by the previous administration. i never understood. we won with evangelicals and christians by a lot but even that little bit they got i said who are the people that voted for them? who would vote for them?
6:43 am
they were terrible. they were terrible to you and terrible to people of all religions. at her sentencing the judge mocked her christian faith. two weeks ago it was my honor to grant paulette and other persecuted christians, about 23 of them, a full and unconditional pardon. [cheers and applause] we got them out of there. we got them out. they are so clean now. those pardons, you are so clean. nobody so clean as paulette in this whole room. she was just -- she got a little lucky, didn't she? she got lucky that i won that election. [laughter] but she was going to be there for a long time, right, paulette? but what happened to you must never, ever happen again in america. so i want to thank you very much
6:44 am
for being here, paulette. thank you very much. [applause] thank you very much. enjoy your life. to confront such weaponization and religious persecution today i'm signing an executive order to make our attorney general, a great person, she will be a great attorney general, pam bondi. [applause] the head of a task force brand-new to eradicate anti-christian bias. about time, right? anti-christian bias. never heard of that one before, right but it's about time, isn't it though, really? so many. so many times you hear but you don't hear the anti-christian bias. the mission of this task force
6:45 am
will be to immediately halt all forms of anti-christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government including at the d.o.j., which was absolutely terrible. i.r.s., f.b.i., terrible and other agencies. in addition to task force, we'll work to fully prosecute anti-christian violence and vandalism in our society and move heaven and earth to defend the rights of christians and r real -- religious people nationwide. this is the first time you've had it. if we don't have real religious liberty we don't have a country. that man is happy, stand up and let me see. why are you so happy?
6:46 am
you love paula, right? oh, so you know what we're talking about better than anybody, yeah. you will have a great new ambassador to lebanon. yes, thank you very much. thank you. that's tough. you can have a great new ambassador. we just put him in. while i'm in the white house we'll protect christians across the country and bring our country back together as one nation under god with liberty and justice for all. throughout history those who sought control and domination over others have always tried to cut the people off from the connection to their creator. at the same time, every nation with big dreams and great ambition has recognized that there is no recourse more precious in the faith in the hearts of our people.
6:47 am
the thing that makes our nation great and makes other nations great. when you don't have it, you don't see great nations. without god, we're isolated and alone. with god, the scripture tells us all things are possible. look at me. i'm standing before you today. i shouldn't be here. i shouldn't be here. [applause] a lot of people said i sho't have been here. a beautiful day in pennsylvania. it's a shot that should not have been missed. missed. it got me a little bit. it got me a little bit but pretty amazing. my son, who is a great shooter like sinking a one foot putt with that particular weapon. i happened to turn at the right instant, a fraction of a second. i was late or early, it would
6:48 am
have been over. and you would have somebody else speaking today. but i'm very lucky. it was a chart on immigration came down and i looked to my right quickly i looked to my right and i said drop that chart, boom. i said man, what was that? so if i didn't make that turn. so -- my son, don, said dad, i will tell you, you got saved by god. i shouldn't say that but it was a big statement for him to make. he was moved, eric likewise because you no say it's a miracle, you could say something. it was god that saved me. [cheers and applause] thank you. but even in the -- thank you. thank you. [cheers and applause]
6:49 am
thank you. thank you very much. that's very nice. even in the darkest moments hope is never lost and two weeks ago i went to a small town in north carolina. what a great place north carolina is. we love north carolina. we won that thing three times we won the primaries, elections, we won it and my daughter-in-law, lara, so incredible. she comes from north carolina. she did such a great job. they love her in the state. we have had great luck there and i reciprocate. and it had been virtually destroyed, the whole state, this hurricane helene, a heavy water
6:50 am
hurricane. water like nobody has ever seen. lakes were built in areas that were always dry. people lost everything they owned, numerous people, many people dead. fema under biden was a disaster. they were almost not even -- they essentially weren't even there. they had been abandoned by their government and seeing their friends and neighbors swept away and die, many of them. one of those i met was a pastor named ramona knicks, her congregation is small but just purchased a brand-new beautiful church. she said people asked her what are you going to do with this big building? it was such a good, beautiful situation to be in. then came the hurricane and she looked at them and she said only god knows. just one week after dedicating that church, the storm hit their little town and the pastor's
6:51 am
church became a lifeboat for a community that was just displaced. the church stood. it with stood the storm, one of the few buildings that did. before the end of the week the sanctuary was so packed with supplies that it was hard to walk. everybody from all over the country were sending her -- >> dana: all right. we lost the feed perhaps. i was listening intently. we're back. >> he said sir god is good, he is very good. it has been 17 days since i took the oath of office, wow, 17 days. time still flies. 17 days it is gone. i have been so busy that -- that it's hard to believe. we've done a lot in 17 days, haven't we? in those 17 days we've
6:52 am
accomplished really what some people haven't accomplished in eight years from the flood-ravaged valleys of north carolina from the flame-scorched hills of california. what a shame. never seen anything like it. as far as the eye could see devastation of very rich neighborhoods. some of the richest people in the country lost their houses, rich and middle income. i wouldn't say poor people. this was a rough period of weeks. i opened the floodgates a few days ago. let the water come down because the environmentalist didn't want water. i said are you crazy? the water comes down from the northwest, the pacific northwest and it comes down by millions and millions of barrels a day
6:53 am
and i opened it up. it wasn't that easy to do but i opened it up and it is pouring down and it is a beautiful thing. and should have happened. [applause] i told them to do it in my last term. they didn't do it. now we just did it. they didn't want to do it but we did it. but from the gang-ridden streets of our inner cities to the war-torn lands of the middle east we working urgently to restore prosperity and peace all over. every single day of this administration we'll act with purpose and historic speed because like that pastor in north carolina, we know that god is good, our future is bright and america's glorious destiny is just within our reach. so together we will make america stronger and prouder, safer, freer, greater and more faithful
6:54 am
to our god than ever before and i just want to thank you. you are very, very special people and great people and an honor to be with you and i will see you again next year. thank you very much. god bless you all. and god bless america. god bless you. [cheers and applause] >> dana: that was president trump at the second national prayer breakfast he attended today giving a 35-minute speech and saying that he wasn't going to miss it. they said he could do it by skype and he said i'm going to be right there with you. >> john: talking about a lot of things he has done since taking office two weeks ago. talked about moving quickly as well. this president has done more than in the last two weeks than most administrations do in their first 100 days and talking about his faith in god for saving him that fateful day back in july of last year in butler, pennsylvania. if he hadn't turned to look at the screen be lined him and told
