across america. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." the numbers tell a story. the homeland security department says the seven day average of illegal crossings at our southern border have plummeted by more than 63% in the last 17 days. of course, those are the first 17 days of trump's presidency. on monday texas officials saw 446 attempted border crossings. on that day one year ago the number was nearly 6,000. texas public safety was with me yesterday talking about the difference that trump is making. >> it's been a complete 180 now with the new administration, new policies, with now more -- much more intentional approach on interior enforcement. the leadership that we have in texas now combined with the federal government we'll have a much stronger approach on the

border and actually show the security of our state and country. >> harris: u.s. coast guard caught a chinese migrant, illegal immigrant floating on a paddle board with a suitcase 25 miles from the bahamas. he was headed to florida. they are coming by sea from china? a week earlier florida police bust evidence two massive groups of people from china trying to enter the united states. those groups also were coming via the bahamas. florida senator ashley moody in "focus." first danamarie mcnicholl is in miami. danamarie. >> hi, security strengthened at the southern border and increased activity here. a firsthand look how and where the smugglers are dropping off the chinese illegal migrants. a chinese man was stopped by the u.s. coast guard 25 miles off

the bahamas with a suitcase strapped to two paddle boards saying he was going to miami. late last month police caught two large groups of chinese migrants who they say were smuggled by boat into south florida after getting dropped off, 21 were found hiding in the back of a yu haul. another group of 26 was heading to orlando. authorities believe in both cases smugglers from the bahamas entered this canal in miami's corral gables neighborhood. ten miles south of downtown miami but it is only about an hour boat ride from the bahamas, easy access for smugglers to bring people to the florida coast. >> on the other side of there is a path. >> florida congressman says it is the perfect place to drop off migrants. vans were ready to pick them up. >> they have so many miles to protect. >> the florida coastline is four times the length of the u.s./mexico border.

understanding what it means to have a country that is protected and is safe and secure. the last president we saw in florida, we saw chinese nationals coming across our border illegally. go up 8,000%. think about that number. while governor desantis was asking for more and more help, it wasn't happening. so he declared an emergency, surged state assets. that's what you do to protect jurisdictional bounds and what president trump will do for america. >> harris: talk to me about the relationship we have with the bahamas. that government is our friend and so i would imagine they don't want them there, you know, waiting to pounce and try to get here either. it causes problems. i know we don't share a border but 25 miles isn't far enough. >> we know that some of these routes start in china, fly to london, then fly to the bahamas

and take boats or other makeshift water apparatus to get into florida. there are points along the way where these things can happen. then there is the audacity to claim asylum when you get to the united states after so many points where you've stopped along the way. where you would have been safe from persecution. it is an issue that i know president trump is diving into. as you know day one he started issuing executive orders to stop the insanity of the fraudulent and false asylum claims. shut down the southern border. because of shutting down the southern border you will see surge in folks trying to get in other places, specifically florida as well i'm so proud of this administration. we were asking for so long for more assets to address that. they've surged coast guard assets and know this influx from the bahamas will become a reality because of what is happening. they've already done that and seen actions by the coast guard

students. president trump's order requires they participate on teams according to birth sexes. ncaa president charlie baker said his order provides a clear national standard. the board of governors is reviewing the order and take necessary steps to align ncaa policy in the coming days. we stand ready to assist schools as they look for ways to support any student athletes affected by changes in the policy. the administration says it is working with other sports body to adjust policy in other settings like the 2028 summer olympics in l.a. officials said the guidance visa policies. they can only apply to come in according to their birth sex and anything else they put on that application could be considered fraud. >> harris: jackui, thank you very much. i want to welcome back to the program a guest we've had previously and give us an update now. melissa is a former san jose state university assistant volleyball coach. the school did not renew your

contract this season. last season you blew the whistle on a transgender player on the team who you said was being favored and threatening to harm a teammate. san jose state did not respond to fox news when we reached out for comment. update us on how it feels today after the executive order by president trump. >> so amazing. just gives me goosebumps that we are moving forward and just what we talked about, common sense things. we shouldn't even really be here but blessed that trump has signed this executive order that we can, you know, save women's sports. the battle is still not won yet. we need to continue, laws need to be changed, but it is a huge step. >> harris: you talk about that battle. it is still being waged. three former swimmers for the university of pennsylvania are suing the school and the ncaa to

wipe the records that they set by their former teammate lia thomas, who is transgender, biological male. one of the swimmers talked about the lawsuit on fox last hour. let's watch that together. >> we were forced to be in the locker room with thomas and multiple girls on the team had expressed feeling uncomfortable with that. if we had any problems with that they were providing the counseling and psychological services that penn had. the transgender center or the lgbt center and if we had a problem to go and talk to them. implying that we had something wrong with us believing it was wrong. >> harris: coach, this is so bad. it just has so many chapters to it. >> yes. the same thing was happening to our female athletes and myself. they brought that forward that they felt very uncomfortable

that this was unfair, and they were told that they needed to seek counseling and that, you know, they were entitled to their first amendment rights and it was one of the big things that why brooke came out first, our captain on the volleyball team and was courageous and then the way they were treating her. they had coach, the administration, the university, that's when i couldn't handle it anymore and i had to protect her and our team. >> harris: thank god you did. before i let you go i have to ask, the collateral damage in some of these cases is that you don't have renewed contracts. will you coach again? are you going to hang in there for and with female athletes? >> i would love -- i pray, it is my passion to coach. but it does -- with them firing me and also being in the state
