couch. >> brian: together. >> steve: we want to talk to them. remember, tom homan, we told you on this program yesterday, that apparently tom homan was really hacked off at the city of new york because they weren't doing more. that was the same day that new york city got clawed back to the tune of $80 million, $08 million of fema money that was used to house migrants at -- well, not homeless shelters but luxury hotels, i actually got a note yesterday from somebody who works at fema and says there is money that is directed at the homeless shelters. but it's for americans, it's not for migrants. that is one of the things that -- one of the reasons why they were able to claw the money back. >> ainsley: big news came out of yesterday's meeting. they sat down. they got along. eric adams, our mayor here, said he is planning on working on an executive order so that ice agents are able to operate at rikers island, rikers is the

prison which is on an island, right outside of new york city next to laguardia. >> steve: you fly over it. >> ainsley: you see the barbed wire around it as you fly out of new york. that's where we house some of our most violent criminals. back in 2014 the sanctuary law because we are sanctuary city removed. a year later the ice office was officially closed. this was a huge change. this hasn't happened -- that was 2015. this has been 10 years where ice agents weren't allowed to go in there. >> steve: about time. >> brian: mayor adams thought wind down and let people out. rikers island is in between being wind down and build up. so it is more of a hell hole than ever before. it is truly hell on earth. what are some of the subplots? some of the subplots is mayor adams should have done this already. he already met with tom homan. why are we having another meeting about an executive order going to hit turbulence with an

extremely, extremely left wing city council? not his fault. is he somewhat of a moderate. among the people upset -- let me just read this now. we are now working on implementing, this is mayor adams, an executive order that will reestablish the ability ice agents rikers island that was the case 20 years ago. i'm sure as lefty as this city is, if you ask people should illegal immigrants be kept on our larr dollar or sent back te countries they are in i think it's a 90-10 issue, don't you? >> steve: problem is 10% runs the town. >> brian: no one runs. >> steve: the speaker. >> brian: she is worst. >> steve: the speaker is looking at the deal that tom homan and eric adams struck and is going i think we need to investigate that there are people who have common sense in their heads one

of them by the name of robert homan. here he is agreeing with trump and homan. watch. >> to have anybody in new york city that's pushing against secure borders right now. what do you think about that? >> that comes with the territory of the far left. and most -- unfortunately most of my colleagues in the democratic party are not for public safety. because they would want criminals off our streets, which is tom homan and president trump are trying to do despite sanctuary city laws which protects criminals in new york city. >> ainsley: let me tell you why this is important. eric adams, when he ran, he was more progressive. he has become more moderate because he has seen how expensive it is to house these illegal migrants in new york city. and he said he wants to find common ground and work with this new administration because new york city has been forced to shoulder the burden of a national humanitarian crisis. he said 230,000 migrants have come to our city at the cost of $7 billion with little help from the previous administration. >> brian: what is happening is

adams is on the outs, you know, he was indicted. that was lifted. and because of that, the district attorney has stepped aside. >> steve: u.s. attorney. >> brian: u.s. attorney i should say stepped aside. so she left yesterday. okay? now, yesterday, the governor was on another network said she is considering getting rid of adams. she could fire him. >> steve: she could. >> brian: fire him as mayor. if aoc had her way yesterday she called on adams to leave. they don't like each other. we will probably ask him correctly. that's how it is. there is another story percolating that he might decide to run as a republican because mayor governor cuomo wants to be mayor cuomo and right now he is destroying adams in the poll instance ains election coming up and is he in for a tough primary. >> steve: he is, indeed. that's probably one of the reasons why he was pushing the sanctuary city stuff to the exclusion of safety. now he is doing a 180. but, at the same time, you can't

really discount to any extent the whole 38-year-old woman clerked for justice scalia, brilliant lawyer. if the doj is trying to make me crop those charges, i'm not going to do it. that's why she quit. then they handed it off to the public integrity department. the department of justice, and five people quit there. they -- what they're suggesting and many others here in new york are saying look, the reason he charges drop work on the crackdown. >> ainsley: art of the deal? >> brian: assumed story. >> steve: quid pro quo, we will drop all the charges so you can help us with that there are -- apparently other charges about

to be filed destroying evidence and telling people to lie to the fbi. so we have got lots to talk to eric adams about. >> ainsley: what new york does. when they don't like you and not progressive enough, they will dig deep into your history and financial records and try to find something that they can use against you. vicky paladino, a new york city council woman was on with carley earlier this morning. she said this is a great day for our city. this means that the arrested and most violent criminals will be able to be retrieved and then we can deport them. >> steve: about time. >> ainsley: they need to make a list of all those violent criminals ice is going to go into rikers and deport and report on their crimes. tell the city council, hand them the page on every single person in there that they are going to deport and see what their records are. usually 15 different offenses against them. some of them are so vile things you wouldn't want happen to your family. >> brian: a lot plot and plan in the hotels where we give them free food at the roosevelt hotel. >> ainsley: beat up our cops on

vance is at the munich security conference where he is set to meet with ukrainian president zelenskyy as the trump administration pushes for peace. >> steve: just moments ago, defense secretary pete hegseth wrapped up a meeting with poland's defense minister as he visits nato's eastern flank. >> ainsley: after he worked out with the soldiers, madeleine rivera is here with the details. >> a lot happening abroad this morning. vice president j.d. vance wrapped up meetings with germany's president and the nato secretary general just a few minutes ago. ukraine future will be top of mind for vance today. noncommittal when asked by a reporter in the last hour whether the u.s. will finalize a deal with ukraine to get some of the country's rare minerals in exchange for u.s. aid. vance and "wall street journal" article shared perhaps some of the administration's strongest words of support yet for ukraine saying the u.s. would hit russia with sanctions and even military action if it does not agree to a peace deal with ukraine. earlier this week defense

secretary pete hegseth said u.s. would not put troops on the ground in ukraine. said nato manipulate was unrealistic with ukraine. the president did say would be involved with negotiations with russia. speaking of nato here is vance speaking about its future. >> we'll talk about nato, in particular the president's desire to nato spend more resources on defense. i know that's something agrees with me on. we're going to talk, of course, about the ukraine-russia conflict and how to bring it to a negotiated settlement and other areas of cooperation, too. a very important military alliance. we want to make sure that nato is actually built for the future. >> like you said, ainsley, hegseth kicked off his day working out with troops in warsaw, poland, he wrapped up a press conference with the polish defense minister a few minutes ago, and here's what he said about ukraine future. >> my job today in brussels was

war, he said something like everything is on the table. >> steve: all options, military and economic. pete just was asked about that and he said i defer to president trump. it's president trump's decision. and then, also, do you trust putin? do you believe that he'll live up to this agreement? he said no, meaning i don't trust him but you don't trust someone to do a deal. >> brian: a lot of stuff going on and people are overreacting. president trump said i think vladimir putin should go back into the g 7 and make it g 8 that would make news. i talked to vladimir putin and the spokesperson from russia said i'm going to be dealing with the president of the united states when it comes to appointment. the headline is cutting out ukraine. he is not cutting out ukraine. he talked to president zelenskyy, too. they had a very candid conversation yesterday. they are getting started. you start by talking to one side and start by talking to the other side. eventually they are going to come together. i just all i could say is people just don't look at the headline and think one way. read the story, get perspective and understand. this is happening in real time. normally leaks to a major

picture right there. it has been regarded on social media as one of the most hated military ads of all time. and, in fact, the military removed comments from their youtube account after the backlash because two weeks after, 36,000 dislikes and 700 likes. so it wasn't worth the trouble. and so you don't see the military making that mistake twice. >> brian: emma's two moms got a chance to vote for it. we don't know. think about the legacy ads can you put up. talk about the american soldier dating back to 1757 to today. make it inspiring. the army has money for marketing. for recruiting. put out these ads. set up an image. >> steve: be all that you can be. >> brian: talk about what you can do after four years, 8 years. you don't have to make it a career. man, you come out of college and saying i don't know what i want to do or in high school and say i need to get on a correct road. make that an option for

17-year-olds, 22-year-olds. >> ainsley: headline for the story is the army is back. military release as new high octane trump era ad and it's a huge split from woke biden ones. >> steve: it could be working. the message the implied message about, you know, suddenly there is a strong man in charge of the military because the recruiting at the army is up 59%. they have reached 59% of the recruiting goal for fiscal year 2025. we told you in december they hit a 12 year high and then in january, they hit a 15-year high. so it looks like we're going to have plenty of people. >> ainsley: just trump and they want to work for him. >> brian: carley wanted to be quieter as she walked in here but not with those heels. unless there is some type of rubber buffer, i mean. >> steve: we're going to get to her in a minute, brian. >> brian: sorry about that. >> ainsley: today. >> brian: poor toss, i apologize. >> ainsley: toes the ntsb is set to give update on mid-air crash capitol between american airlines passenger jet and helicopter. >> brian: chanley painter is here with more. >> chanley: same heels as carley but you will get to her soon. i have an update it has been more than two weeks since that deadly mid-air collision. the ntsb planning a release of more information today about what may have led to the tragedy. as the lead agency in the investigation. the national transportation safety board has been working around the clock combing through data from the cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders. they are also evaluating factors like the wreckage pulled from the potomac piece together how the coalition unfolded and something like this doesn't happen again. today's news briefing comes as "the washington post" is reporting data showing that over the last 10 years, airline pilots received more than 100 cockpit warnings that they were in danger of a mid-air

collision, with a helicopter near reagan national airport. the post citing flight tracking and government incident data saying this, quote: warnings from the traffic alert and collision avoidance system add to the volume of evidence suggesting that federal regulators had ample information before last month's crash that the crowded airspace near the airport carried the risk of catastrophic consequences. and the ntsb has said it is grappling with conflicting altitude data concerning the black hawk helicopter where three u.s. soldiers were flying a training mission with the presidentpotomac designated roue 200 feet. the ntsb is expected to release a preliminary report on the crash at some point in the coming days. and while final investigations often take more than a year to complete, we hope to learn some new helpful information later today, guys.
