and president trump set to attend the daytona 2500 this hour and air force one flew over the speedway moments ago. president last attended the great american race in 2020. how about that, back in office, back to the big race. we're following it all on fox news live and taking you to the speedway not long from now. welcome to fox news live. i'm kevin cor corke in the natis capitol and we're learning about the push to end the war between russia and ukraine. dana mcnicholl is live with that story this afternoon. i don't mind saying you, my friend, we can all be very helpful and the administration -- hopeful and the administration certainly is.
10:02 am
reporter: you cranen president zelensky was asked if ukraine could survive without u.s. military support? >> very, very difficult. all the difficult situations, you have a chainsaw we'll have a low chance, low chance to survive without the support of the united states. reporter: it has to be permanent and not temporary and can't be ended on the battlefield and nato has to step up their contributions and three, american people deserve some type of pay back for the billions of dollars they've invested in the war. there won't be a seat at the table for talks with russia about ending the war and
10:03 am
>> we're not there yet but the ukrainians and europeans have to be included because of the sanctions on putin and russia as well. reporter: secretary rubio said this is the first step in the process saying they have a long way to government kevin. kevin: long way indeed. danamarie, thank you very much >> president trump will carry the talks in the coming weeks and moving quickly to end this conflict, and we will bring everyone together as appropriate. kevin: that was mike waltz on upcoming meeting with russian officials with saudi arabia and it's an interesting conversation
10:04 am
that has to be had, but eventually will include the ukrainians and for that perspective, we welcome the ukrainian mike waltz talking about these conversation withs vladamir putin and some of the personal relationship between the president and russian leader can't pay dividends in bringing the war to an end. listen to this. oh, we don't have waltz. i thought we did. but he's saying the president can talk tafanely putin whether in saudi arabia or elsewhere and then can bring president zelensky into the conversation. from your perspective, is that the right way to handle things right now? >> kevin, thank you. we had active engagement with
10:05 am
our friends and president zelensky and president vance and secretary rubio was there and actively engaged with working with the strategic allies regard to russians, we have to be clear, they're the ones that attacked us in 2014 and 2022. they can end this war. any day they want and if president trump convinces them to stop this war, god bless him. we all will work together with president trump to do it. as you see now, today horrible attack by russians and hundreds of thousands of people without electricity because of that attack and attack on chernobyl confinement shelter two days ago. putin clearly still shows that he's not ready or willing to talk about peace. look, we'll be working very active with our american friends
10:06 am
to do whatever is important for them to be able to actually bring putin to the table, and hope peace is achieveability. zelensky believing peace is achievable and we've been phygoing for three years and liberated 50% of what russia has take and ukraine is defending our home, and we rely on our american friends in doing so. kevin: speaking of the president, he said this about not being invited to saudi arabia. listen to his remarks and get your reaction on the other side here. >> we don't have any invitation and something strange for me to speak in this case, this format. before we have no negotiation for the partners and i remember, russia is not our strategic partner. kevin. the conversation doesn't nighed
10:07 am
to include president zelensky right now, but ultimately stake holders not just in the row john but -- region but globally need to be involved in the conversation to restore the great nation. >> nobody knows russians better than us and we had rounds and rounds with them and all the civilized communities from this and international rules and president zelensky has always been ready for the diplomatic discussions and we've been leading them and president zelensky suggested that other elements, which could be a basis for just and lasting peace. we're engaging actively and notable with american friends and partners but european friends and partners.
10:08 am
ukraine is the armed forces of european content and lethal and battle tested army that is defending the values on which our country is built, america is built, european countries are built. freedom, dignity and independence, we're fighting for that there. kevin: people have suggested that, yes, it's a nato force there but maybe it's time you heard the president suggest a more lethal european war and ukraine is the largest outside of russia certainly in the continent. i think his point is well take and we're short of time, but i would be remiss if i didn't ask you about nato membership. people suggested it's not going to happen and other leaders say it's not off the table. in the last 20 seconds or so, what's your reactions to that? >> nato is a consensus organization and created to
10:09 am
defend countries and ukraine is a democratic country that fights and defends democratic rule and we would like to be part of nato and we'll work hard to be part of nato. in the meantime, ukraine is part of european family and we are defending european families so whether it's going to be quick or later on, the main question is how we or democracies can defend ourselves and ukraine is a important element of that. kevin: no question about that and continued expansion of the russian empire is a real problem and a real threat frankly for a lot of countries in eastern europe in particular. madame ambassador, thank you for your time. really appreciative. >> thank you very much. kevin: and the meantime, secretary of state marco rubio is meeting with benjamin netanyahu today echoing president trump's message that the "gates of hell will open if hamas doesn't release every single hostage still in gaza.
10:10 am
for more on this, bring in our senior foreign affairs correspondent greg palkot in tel aviv. hey, greg. reporter: hey, seven. it was secretary of state marco rubio marco rubio's first trip to israel and had a lot for everybody who seemed to get along well. prime minister praised him and also praised of course his boss, president trump. president trump's plan still getting reaction about the u.s. taking over and renovating the gaza strip as the palestinians are stepping aside. in the wake of the release yesterday. there was unity to get all the hostages home fast and something more muscular as you noted and netanyahu echoing president trump saying he would open gates of hell if need be. particularly strong, the call by both to go after iran and now vulnerable after its area
10:11 am
proxies weakened its own defenses hit. >> ziti reel and america stand shoulder to shoulder and ayatollahs must not have nuclear weapons. >> single greatest source of instability in the region behind every terrorist group and every act of violence. reporter: one more show of the current closeness of the two allies, a new delivery of 2,000-pound unguided bombs held up by the biden administration last year, they were concerned about civilian casualties in gaza. all bets are off between these two in tel aviv right now. kevin, back to you. kevin: thank you, greg. >> donald trump has two republican houses and he's got a budget discussion that has to have a resolution by march 14. why isn't he getting the

republican leaders down in the white houssaying here's what we're going to co. he's making all these cuts without them because he doesn't even think the republican leadership will go along with him. bill clinton did things to shrink the size of government and did it with congress. kevin: you see right there, that was democrat senator tim cain from the great state of virginia, the commonwealth and appearing on fox news sunday shandon anne donovan bream and voicing concerns about president trump's push to reduce the size of government. we to want bring in the political panel, two handsome gents. election integrity hogan gidley and fox news contributor richard fowler. guys, i want to begin by sort of unpacking this idea that, listen, some of what's happening now, vis-a-vis doge online and it's reminiscent under president obama and is he trying to make
10:13 am
the government more efficient? >> look, i think there's nor efficiency in this government and i think there's members of congress that agree with that and there's been a lot of american people watching today and making the government more efficient and the question is how you make it more efficient. that is where the consternation lies and what we saw happening this week is 300 of the individuals were laid off and they said we didn't mean to lay you off and baning them back. this is moving to fast without doing investigation and asking kevin: sorry, i don't want to smollett yuppies but you see the president arriving at daytona
10:14 am
3500 right there. >> we saw the same thing at veteran affairs and sent the fork in the road e-mail out to skilled doctors and nurses taking care of vets every day and saying, sorry, we didn't mean you and that's moverring too fast and not paying attention to the efficiencies. kevin: hogan, that's a pretty good serve playing tennis and how do you volunteers andly that? >> it's interesting to me that democrats collectively rallied around and they're on the record supporting advocating for fraud, waste and abuse in the federal government. it blows my mind they're out there touting and arguing against the cuts that are clearly necessary the american people deserve to know how their money is being spent and where and donald trump and doge worked together to say guys, here is where the money is being misspent and misused, and i remember because i'm old enough,
10:15 am
that democrats used to care about the government and the fraud waste and abuse and now it seems they're on the side of the entities that have been long known to waste the taxpayer dollars. kevin: can both be true, the president wants to locate the areas of fraud, waste ask abuse and maybe they're move ago bit too fast and getting a bit over their skis in the process? >> i love washington dc's mentality of what fast is. i guarantee you donald trump thinks it's moving too slowly, all of the cuts and the recommendation process to congress and exposing it in addition it's getting the public on their side. kind of like a pr campaign saying look at where the money is going and yes, there'll be mistakes as elon musk said in the oval office but said as soon as we find t we'll admit and fix it and that's what's happened. kevin: speaking of the president's popularity, i just want to share this sound. this is chuck talking about, richard, if the president does things like this, they'd say
10:16 am
some of this isn't a bad thing. >> i joined the democratic party in 1979 to fight nafta and drain the swamps and make sure my tax dollars not going to foreign wars or wasted and that sounds like donald trump today. that's why we loose to him because we've let him steal our verbiage. kevin: steal our verbiage, is he wrong? >> i think he's right but he's a good friend of mine and where we'd agree is the idea you're going to eliminate hogan's explaining that we're providing recommendations and we're waiting for congress and that's not what happened at the consumer protection finance protection bureau and this organization is one that was created to protect consumers. created to not have absorb taint
10:17 am
overdraft -- absorb tent overdraft fees and this organization was decimated by elon musk. not a recommendation. wasn't a hey, congress, we think you should change this. it was elon musk and his doge associates going and saying y'all don't come back to work because the idea of keeping american credit card bills safe and holding banks accountable to the american people is something we don't care about. those are uniquely different than recommendations to congress. congress. kevin. i think they would argue and respectfully say it's not that they want to disrespect what the cfpb was doing, but rather we can do a better job with the same resources and we'll have to see. >> and tell us where and how? that's my point. kevin: the devil's always in the details. gentlemen, thank you very much. two sharp brothers. now, we're watching daytona beach, florida, as the president is arriving. that's next.s of ♪ .
