40-mile-per-hour winds as eric shawn reported. can you give us ancatiy sort of indication what you think might have -- what are the range ofre possibilities what might have happened? here? >> certainly, charlie. there is a number of things that aircome to mind ranting and crosswinds on a lonely airplane like this, you have to nail everything just right. it is a little bit of a challenge that you add ac runways and blowing snow across the runway into the equation, it becomes tricky. experience pilots to this day iw and day out have a little bit of an advantage and are aware of what is going on with the aircraft. you can never give up on it.t at the pilot was unstable on the approach and i'm not saying he thatwas, but if he were, it woud to the equation as well. if the air speed is fast coming to town coach controls that he will put in normally will actli slightly different and it could

operation center and i'm here to give you a statement on what events transpired here today toronto pearson. o first and foremost, there was no loss of life. this is into part two heroic and trained professionals in our first responders at the airport. so the facts of the matter.m around this event that happened approximately 2:30 p.m. is delta air lines flight 404918aci subsidiary was involved inat t single aircraft accident uponyi granting torontong pearson.ers. the plane was carrying four crew and 76 passengers and among them 22 canadians and the other passengers are multinational. airport emergency workers mounted a textbook response reaching the site within minutes and quickly evacuating the passengers. we stood up emergency operations center with delta air lines and

representatives from fire, please, paramedics, security federal agency partners.nj urbegan, there were no fataliti. 17 enter a passenger is a localn area hospital.y at this time we do not know if the passengers having critical injuries. we immediately halted for their arrivals and departures on our remaining three runways. those runways were reopened e reapproximately 5:00 p.m. the other runways remained to serve the investigation, which will carry forward for the rest of the night and into the next several days. these two runways will remain closed while the investigation takes place. again, we are very grateful that there was no loss of life in relatively minor injuries.e weco are very focused on the cae and the concern and the passengers and the crew, some of whom have already been reunifief with their families and friends.
