4:02 am
it's not even the art of the deal it's caring. >> lawrence: in the meantime attention turns to congress to make's trump's agenda a reality. senator rick scott reviews the votes that could happen this week. >> ainsley: tell you what the president did yesterday to prove the democrats wrong. >> brian: second hour of "fox & friends" starts right now. run the animation. ♪ >> ainsley: federal layoffs will reportedly hit the defense department as the agency is expected to be the trump administration's next down sizing target. >> brian: it comes as elon musk reveals is he open to sending doge dividend checks to americans. >> steve: i like the idea of that. >> ainsley: a thousand dollars. >> steve: lucas with the details. >> lucas: more animation for you sitting for joint interview. president trump and elon musk told our own sean hannity what they're doing to cut waste,

fraud and abuse from the government. and here was elon musk responding to the criticism of doge. >> the president is the elected representative of the people. so he is representing the will of the people. and if the bureaucracy is fighting the will of the people, and preventing the president from implementing what the people want, then what we live in is a bureaucracy and not a democracy. the overall goal is to try to get a trillion dollars out of the deficit. and if the deficit is not under control. $1 trillion. now "the washington post" reporting defense department firings are expected to start soon. depending on agencies, we're told submit lists of probationary employees after members of elon musk's doge team arrive and with a budget around $850 billion a year. there is plenty to cut, guys, including costly weapon systems. the pentagon doesn't want but forced on them by lawmakers on capitol hill. that's the challenge officials say. now, yesterday, a new idea
4:04 am
sprung up on x. i will read it out. president trump and elon musk should announce a doge dividend that tax refund checks every taxpayer funded exclusive whether i a portion of the total savings delivered by doge check with the presidents. treasury secretary scott bessent sat down with our own bret baier last night. he says doge has already uncovered $50 billion in savings and says ultimately there could be several percentage points g.d.p. in total savings. >> steve: regarding the cuts at the pentagon. i know uniformed personnel would be exempt. >> lucas: correct. >> steve: currently the pentagon, the department of defense employees 700,000 civilians. any idea how many of those are going to get chopped? >> lucas: it's not clear right now, steve, you are right. 1.3 million men and women on active duty. they are exempt from those cuts.
4:05 am
mentioned 700,000. that's not just in the washington area, of course, it's all over the country. f-35. there is parts on that plane from all 50 states. so, when they are looking at different costly weapon systems or people working for the defense department, they are looking not just in fact not just around the country but around the world, guys. global force as you all know. >> brian: i don't understand lucas and i don't know if anybody is capable of answering this. but how can you make an assessment so quick? to me, don't you need to really look at some of these agencies besides just saying give me 10% of your force? because some might be overtaxed, some might be sitting on their hands all day. how can you make the evaluation so quick? >> lucas: that's a good question, brian. you think there would be a series of interviews thinking back to someone like office space you want to sit people down and find out just what they do. what's their role, but, perhaps when it comes to these weapons system that some of them the pentagon doesn't work.
4:06 am
the pentagon knows right away what they want to cut. and the donley team wants to help them out. big challenge though is on capitol hill because this has happened before. the pentagon marches over across the potomac to capitol hill and says we want to cut x, y and z that's nice please return to the pentagon. >> brian: that's why the doge team is so valuable. they don't have a horse in this race. i don't really care about montana and i don't care about maryland. i tell you this is the bottom line. >> lawrence: i think it has to be that way. because, you have different members from different districts and different states that advocate for things that they may not think they would have advocated for another state. but it gets jobs in their district and all that even if it's a bad program. i guess the one thing that continues to annoy me is that there is not more frustration with the money being abused. like i want them to be mad with us. like, we have been taking advantage of and i think when

done to alienate fellow democrats. they accuse him of being too close to trump. and the fact is that new yorkers want these criminal illegal aliens out of the city. and mayor adams is doing what he was elected to do and in any case, the democratic primaries for the mayoral election start in four months. it's going to take longer than that for kathy hochul to remove mayor adams if she decides to do that, which is an unprecedented move. it has never happened in new york history. >> lawrence: miranda i'm per mentioned because this was labeled an emergency meeting. so when an illegal sets a new yorker on fire and watched her burn, there was no emergency meeting. there was a cop yesterday that was shot by a repeat offender because the d.a.s just allowed them back on the street there was no emergency meeting for that there has been crime all over this city, and there haven't been removal of those d.a.s, but she wants to remove
