riding in part quote the pope is not out of danger. this morning pope francis presented a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis. which also required the application of high flow oxygen. the 88-year-old felt ill at the start of the vatican's holy year celebration held every quarter century. let's go to stephanie bennett with the latest. >> the vatican says pope francis health has deteriorated over the last 24 hours. describing his condition as critical. the vatican said he suffered a prolonged asthma like respiratory crisis and needed blood transfusions because of a low platelet count associated with anemia for the doctors had to admit her high flow of oxygen because of his breathing crisis. but he remains alert they say. though he's more unwell than yesterday. say the moment the prognosis remains guarded. pope francis was admitted to rome's gemelli hospital has since been diagnosed with pneumonia in both both lugs bacterial, viral and fungal infections on top of his chronic

dr. siegel? what's here's what we would look for in terms of sepsis. blood pressure dropping, acid forming in the blood and we would look for bacteria in the blood. we would monitor it. at his respiratory status has breathing status gets worse and worse. but they can tell by the stable vital signs that he is not on a ventilator. i think that is key. he's not on a ventilator but he's awake an alert for those are all very positive signs. as stephanie pointed out he has a scarred lung from a previous infection where they had to take out of a piece of his lung. so their scarring to begin with and his spread to both lungs which makes it very serious. i think what happened this morning with the asthma is something they probably got under control because you can use bronchodilators to open up the lungs again and oxygen. they can keep them stable like this while the antibiotics do their work, then he has a really good chance. >> arthel, about three years ago the pope confirmed that when he became pope he wrote his own resignation letter in the case that he became medically unfit

they should be checked but how you do that? >> i was not a big fan of title 42 because i think immigration should be enforced based on immigration. i always thought it was a bit of an excuse. but, of title 42 is what you are using because it is the only thing in your arsenal that you can use, go ahead and use it. i don't think there's anything wrong about stopping people at the border, not just illegal immigrants but legal immigrants and how about myself. i feel like when i go to another country come back and go through customs they still ask me about my luggage, jevity cashews or fruit? >> exactly, right. looks we have to paid by these laws as well. you can have the health laws but you can basically say by the way, the border is closed to illegal immigrants it doesn't matter if you have a disease or not you cannot come in. >> limit get alicia inherent progress have to anticipate a big pushback from democrats here but we cannot forget this administration, as we have learned over the past four weeks
