on terms most favorable to the american people. they do not want that. they want to be the countries that have us under their thumb. they understand that they need to have the most access into this particular region of the world and so they are seeking to militarize it to push the united states out. mark: what you say to people, it drives me crazy, to see all of these aggressive and offensive moves by putin, all of these militaristic actions by putin. all of these efforts to expand russian geographically by conquering neighbors and so forth that is our fault that is america's fault because they feel surround he's surrounded by these democracies so is getting very concerned he's very upset about it. so we are the imperialists we are the colonials and we are just upsetting this poor guy who looks at russian history and feels he is a put upon by the united states. what you say to these people? >> this is jeanne kirkpatrick said those were the blame america always blaming america first for everything that the

united states has to endure in the world. it is just historically inaccurate. united states has always been or has long been a power that is reluctant to go to war. certainly the american people do not want to go to war. we'd like to trade, like our freedom and prosperity pretty want to take care of our own families we like to see other countries have their own freedom and prosperity and live in a democratic society. but, we really kind of want to mind our own business. with the united states has sought to do with russia since the end of the cold war is again and again try to live in a partnership in some sense. he saw this in the security documents i was a young congressional staff are working for a republican member of congress when bush 43 thought he could have some kind of partnership with putin. and we could collaborate in some ways and that we had the infamous obama administration with the goofy ridiculous expression on hilary clinton's

face hitting the red reset button. then you had skipping over trump for a moment, you had the biden administration which really verbally, rhetorically likes to talk tough. they like to poke the bear but were never loaded for bear. they like to talk tough but they were never very serious about truly countering russia. on ways to acclimate to the russians always looking for a reset. it was the weakness and the indecision and risk aversion that tempted the russians. the thought okay during the biden administration these people are weak and indecisive. and now i can make my move against europe and we are going to start with ukraine. and so it is the opposite of blame america first peoples and narrative it's been american weakness and inattention to matters with the russians have made their move. >> are we supposed to ignore them man rights or signs that other people write for him, putin what he says question

opponent you will find yourself pushed out of windows and russia. there is no due process. one more point that is important when the baltic countries joined nato in 2004, and w lithuania te russians barely said anything because they knew those countries were not a threat to them. but russia waited until they thought they had a weak presidency. had a moment in which the united states did not have the political resolve or was distracted or thought they could invade a sovereign nation and ukraine take what they erroneously believe is there if they believe the baltics are there as they certainly blew poland's theirs. it is completely wrong. and so it is a good the united states stop them and believe europe, it nato be strong again so that we can stop russia. putin would certainly carve out if he could. mark: great points all, at rebeccah heinrichs we are going to have you back up in. i very much appreciate it, god bless you my friend. >> thank you, mark. mark: we will be right back.
