now. what will you tell the members of congress? >> two biggest points i want to get across, with this weaponization of the doj during the last administration and democratic party, not only how the people, the attention was taken from far more important issues like violent crime. violent crime went up dramatically while biden administration focused on these political issues. weaponization is harmful, there were other harms, as well. as federal prosecutor, what you had to do, intake cases and decide between one case and another case, not one case or nothing at all. that is the biggest harm. we suffered in terms of public safety and public confidence because of this weaponization. >> todd: i know focus is

with tim corbin. it's been part of our program for, you know, the last 20 years. and it's just such a great way to teach those life lessons and make it, you know, more about god and country as much as it is about playing sports. >> todd: let's get into the why. you just alluded to it. why do you feel it is so important to show this level of patriotism, especially at a time, coach, when you know so many colleges and universities across the country shy away from patriotism and and in fact oea document policies many would consider it anti-patriotic. >> we run right towards it. i'm the son of a vietnam veteran. the grandson of a real world veteran. the flag means an awfully lot to me personally. our players just understand they get to play baseball in a free country and that wouldn't be possible that wouldn't be possible without those men and women who protect that freedom

made the ultimate sacrifice laying down their life. for two minutes to be able to show that appreciation and gratitude and respect, there's just not a better way to do it at a sporting event than that. >> todd: thank you to your relatives for their service. what's the reaction from the veterans to this tradition? >> i think they love it. they stand up with pride, as they should. and our players get a chance to go through the crowd and shake their hand. i think there's been some tier jerking moments for some of them. especially those who maybe haven't always received the warmest welcome but to know that in our program and at our games, they are going to be recognized like they should. >> that is absolutely beautiful, coach. there is also the baseball aspect of, you know, your job and your life. you have got a pretty good team down there at clemson, just cracked the top 10 yesterday in the coaches poll released. you are 6 in one on the year. a game 4:00 p.m.

thank you for getting up early with us. it's tough when you have 12 hours of work ahead of you, to what do you attribute this year's success? >> the credit goes to the players. it always does. they are the ones out there competing. and we have a great group of guys and evidenced by their willingness to go into the crowd during a game which, you know, many players would -- might not want to do. but our guys have jumped forward with it. and they do it with a lot of enthusiasm, the humility and character traits behind just the baseball skills is a huge driver of that success. >> i'm excited to do basic segment where i don't yell at the screen for how bad my yankees are doing or injured they are. it frustrates me when we talk baseball. this is uplifting story because you are doing something so important and so valued by so many. coach erik bakich thank you for what you are doing. good luck today and the reps of the season. thanks for watching our show. that's awesome. we appreciate that too, coach.
