6:33 am
the wisconsin governor is changing language in the state budget. particularly the word mother being replaced with person who gave birth and father, parent or spouse. language about the mothers appears in part of the budget subsidizing care after artificial insemination. used words like moms and dads and explained himself to a reporter yesterday saying the language is just about guaranteeing that moms will have access to the care they need. >> what the republicans say is a lie. so of course i'm pretty p.o.ed about that. all this does is gives people a chance that are using ivf, which i think republicans are kind of okay with that. >> in that 1900 plus page budget gender neutral terms from mother and father are inserted dozens of times. the language is included in everything from sections on birth, marriage, divorce but also sections on taxes and state hunting and fishing licenses.
