because, and it was crazy. it was a crazy whip count event last night. what they did last night in the house of representatives, at 6:00 they called everybody in okay, we're going to have a couple of votes. the first one is going to be about something else. then the second one is going to be on the budget. okay. that first vote was open for an hour. and then at 7:30. they said, you know what? we're not going to have the vote tonight. because there were four republicans -- four republican holdouts. they could only stand to lose one. then during that time, after they said there is not going to be a vote tonight. donald trump got on the phone, talked to a couple of them. next thing you know out of nowhere okay we're going to have the vote. ultimately, tom massie is the lone republican who voted against it. everybody voted for it. what it calls for, $4.5 trillion in cuts to the federal budget. a $2 trillion reduction in spending. and it clears the way for the big parts of the trump agenda.

>> ainsley: good news is it will extend the trump's 2017 tax cuts. because they are set to expire at the end of this year. yeah, it was crazy. because they didn't think they had the votes. we are canceling this. >> steve: they didn't. >> ainsley: see some of the house members on the phone. we were told that trump did get involved by phone. he spoke to holdout victoria spartz. not sure we saw congressman tim burchett and warren davidson on the phone. not sure if they were talking to president trump. >> steve: you gotta figure. >> ainsley: they rush back in and it passed. >> brian: no democratic help. victoria spartz said i want to vote for it because it is going to add to the deficit. i called her up and personally guarantee you. she was worried about healthcare. i personally guarantee you that it will make healthcare better. we are going to find spending cuts in fraud and abuse in healthcare and in social security. so this is a blueprint. now, it's up to the senate to take a look at it. this is one big beautiful bill. this is the foundation for it.

but they say the final vote is likely to come in april. they hope to get two more seats because that's when they expect to fill the gaetz seat and the waltz seat. they are worried about stefanik. we don't know when that is happening in new york. >> ainsley: they are trying to delay it. >> brian: delay, delay, delay until september, which i. >> steve: the white house is very happy about what happened last night. and now they are looking to friday when it sounds like zelenskyy could actually be in washington, d.c., brian. >> ainsley: so, really quickly, before we get to brian's interview. it goes to the house committees. they are going to meet. they will build their own proposals around the framework. then it will be negotiated into a compromise bill with the senate. >> brian: they do have to rid out social security and without messing with people's payouts. they have to go in there and make this smoother and find it where the fraud and bruce is. meanwhile, secretary of state, marco rubio gave us the first interview with fox since he got the job as secretary of state. he's gone over 35 days to 12

separate countries and cities. it's been amazing. he got back to the state department and then talked about his new job. but, most of all, his old distances. for example, he sat down across from the russian delegation. knowing that they represent vladimir putin who he never liked. listen. >> senator rubio called vladimir putin a thug. you still feel the same way? >> at the end of the day, what we feel about vladimir putin would be irrelevant to achieving a peace here. what we are trying to do now -- we have to be grownups here. we are trying to get people to the negotiating table. you don't get people to the negotiating table like vladimir putin by calling his names or being antagonistic. it's costs billions of dollars for the united states. billions of dollars for europe. this is not a pr thing. this is not a political campaign. this is real world. >> brian: he just keeps his eye, lawrence, on the big picture. and that's bring an end to this. but having a peace that's not going to be temporary like the

did you talk to marco rubio about the cabinet meeting tonight? what are they expecting? >> brian: no. we didn't really talk about the cabinet meeting. we did talk about yesterday the parliament in ukraine passed a resolution saying that he has our support, zelenskyy, to be president throughout the war, which says officially eliminates him as a dictator. >> ainsley: there was that u.n. resolution condemning russia we are not supporting that we don't want to antagonize. we are trying to come to the table like he said in that soundbite and we need to compromise and not going to antagonize putin today. >> steve: does sound like the good news for ukraine did drop the demand for $500 billion worth of future mineral and gas and oil rights. that has gone by the bye apparently. according to people who talk to the bbc. i was reading this morning. and ukraine wanted security guarantees from the united states, but it sounds like at this point, they did not get

colleagues all over a social media post pointing out a transgender athlete won first place in the girls pole vault this after competing a girl one won year earlier. libby's post included the name and 230e9 of the minor. so this representative now unable to vote or speak on the house floor until she issues an apology. libby telling fox news digital she does not plan to do so saying quote this was an individual who participated in a public event who publicly stood on a podium and accepted a championship medal that rightfully belonged to the girls standing on the second place spot. on monday, she opened up to "america's newsroom" about why she is speaking out against her state's policy. watch. >> president trump is right on with issuing this executive order that the vast majority of americans and mainers agree with. they don't want to see boys in girls sports. so, we have a lot at risk here in our state. 250 million in federal funding.

jennifer, thank you for joining us. >> thank you for having me. >> ainsley: you are welcome. talk about what happened yesterday where the southwest plane is trying to land. thankfully the pilots were aware. they saw that private plane. why was that private plane on the runway? >> yeah. >> that's actually one of our questions for this investigation. we don't believe that this was an air traffic control issue. it appears this was a failure of the flight crew from flex jet to listen and abide by the instructions of air traffic control. they were supposed to line up and wait and hold short of runway three-one c which southwest was landing on and they failed to do so. >> ainsley: what happened? the pilot is scolded? what happens? >> we still have to conduct our investigation. we have a lot of information we still have to collect. we want to know what was going on in the cockpit of that

airplane we have asked for the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder from flex jet. we have also asked for the flight data recorder from southwest. we will have to do some interviews and that's part of our investigative process so a lot more to come. >> ainsley: people are feeling uneasy because we have seen these stories in the news and spring break is around the corner. what can you say to parents and families to assure we are all safe? >> yeah, i can empathize with the concern but i can tell you aviation is incredibly safe. we have seen a lot of tragedies recently would have sounded alarm bells for a few years. just taking midway 22 million passengers flew out of midway in 2023, and landed safely at their destination. midway is incredibly safe. i have flown the last few weeks from alaska, philadelphia,

savanna, atlanta, now i'm in tuscaloosa and so it is actually the biggest risk is getting in your car to and from the airport, not on the plane. >> ainsley: yeah. what can you tell us about air traffic displol we have heard there are not enough people manning the air traffic towers? what's the latest on that? >> yeah. and this is actually something that secretary duffy has really taken very seriously and the administration has taken very seriously. i'm very happy about that because over the last couple of years, this is what i can tell you, the ntsb has sounded the alarm bells over and over again about the potential for catastrophe. last spring, i testified before senate commerce that the department of transportation needed to take action, they needed to get beyond words, beyond safety forms and that didn't happen and here we are today. secretary duffy has stated that he is going to fix it. and he is going to fix it fast.

this week is going to be different. looks like president zelenskyy is going to be here in washington this week. how much friction is between president zelenskyy and president trump? >> you know, people -- there's a lot of stuff in the media about it but at the end of the day, the president's objective is clear. he wants the war to stop. to do that, you have to have both sides agree to it, right? we talked to zelenskyy. i think what the president was irritated by and rightfully so was this argument that somehow we haven't talked to ukraine. after president trump spoke to putin, which he hadn't spoken to in four years he picked up the phone. i was there for both calls. he immediately spoke to zelenskyy. he met with treasury secretary and me and the vice president and then he met with kellogg. he has had engagement, constant engagement. i talked with the foreign minister of ukraine twice in the last six days to say we are not engaged with them is just not accurate. >> brian: what makes you believe the russians sincerely want this war to end? >> i don't know. i don't know the answer to that. >> brian: what do you think. >> i think we are going to test it. we told them do you want to end the war or continue? if you want to end the war we can talk about what it would
