hours before she went into labor, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. the good news is that if she hadn't been pregnant, she would have never have known and she's catching the cancer very early at a stage zero. while she's away on maternity leave, she's going to go through and get treatment and get the cancer out and she's going to be back on this show want couple months, i would hope. so we all wish her well. we miss kat. i'm sure she's doing great. she's a tough bastard. it's true. thanks, mike. emily, charlie. our studio audience. i'm greg gutfeld. love you, america. >> trace: good evening. i'm trace gallagher. it's 11:00 p.m. on the east coast. 8:00 in los angeles. this is america's late news.

"fox news @ night." breaking tonight, attorney general pam bondi announcing tonight that jeffery epstein files should be released tomorrow. including as bondi, a lot of flight logs and a lot of information. plus, elon musk finally addressing his controversial what did you do last week e-mail. >> i think the e-mail is best interpreted as a performance review. it was a pulse check review. do you have a pulse? >> trace: how does the d.c. swamp feel about that pulse check? >> you think it's >> >> why? >> [bleep]. >> trace: more from jillian and the doge plus. and the president talking about his gold card visa. foreigners can apply to become lawful residents. >> 200,000 of these gold green

>> meantime, doge creator, elon musk defended today last week's productivity e-mail. you know, the one he sent all federal employees. he called it more or less a pulse check. are you there? and yes, more than a million federal workers wrote back. >> we're trying to address the enormous deficit. we cannot sustain as a country $2 trillion deficits. if this continues, the country there go bankrupt. >> parentsly another e-mail is on the way. for those of you that missed it, the wide ranging cabinet availability gave the world a rare and i dare say captivating look at the president's team in action. it was very good daytime tv. now, among the other headlines we learned today, the president says ukraine's president zelensky will eventually make his way to the white house probably friday. going to talk about peace talks and solidifying a possible rare

minerals deal. quite a watch. hope you got to see part of it today. >> trace: yeah, i did. thanks, kevin. we appreciate it. let's bring in media strategist, christina and trying to get jason chaffetz up. with elon musk taking center stage, a lot going on. i wanted this up there. it's fascinating. elon musk taking a question about whether federal workers should be fired or not. he gave the following message. >> what is the target number that you're looking to cut total? >> we wish to keep everyone that is doing a job that is essential and doing a job well. but if the job is not essential, or they're not doing it well, they shouldn't be on the public payroll. >> trace: it seems reasonable, christina. seems like this is something that americans voted for and when you look at these poll after polls, americans seem satisfied with what's going on.
8:05 pm
democrats hate it. a lot of americans like it. >> it does seem reasonable what he said. a lot of people have said look, yes, americans voted for this. they want to cut the waste, the fraud in our government. there's no doubt it exists. people complaining about this now, we should have addressed this head on years ago. democrats and republicans did not investigate u.s. aid or other government agencies like they should have. my concern with what elon musk is doing is unintended consequences moving forward. trump won by 30 points over kamala harris when it comes to veterans. veterans make up 30% of the work force. 6% of veterans have lost their job. they're a big part of the base and you don't want to alienate that. >> trace: some people worry about that. a big concern. this is actually -- there's unintended consequences but this is working out for a lot of
8:06 pm
people and a lot of presidents going back to clinton and al gore and obama, all said they wanted to do the same thing and they could never muster enough energy to put this forward. >> that's the argument on the other side. finally people are seeing action and this is what it takes to get it. >> trace: i wanted this up there. you talked about the new democratic coalition. the new democratic coalition as it goes forward here put -- quoting here, the new dems are at the center of the democratic party's future and will be at the center of moving our nation forward. then it goes on to say the three pillars are economic growth, lowering costs, work, wages and wealth, health and safety communities, strong national security and defense. this is the new democratic clearly these are people moving towards the center, a little right of center. this sounds christina like a republican plan being kind of picked up by democrats except for the fact that they hit trump every chance they get. >> what a novel idea to listen to the needs of the american people. right?
8:07 pm
that's what they're trying to do. listen to what americans are saying that they wanted in the past election. what happened with the democratic party and we've talked about this ad nauseam, they have lost their way. they have gone left of left. so the democratic party that we see today is hard to recognize. what they're trying to go back to is a j.f.k. era democrat, which was really bound by common sense, which is not so common anymore. so i hope that this does move forward, because frankly, a strong democracy relies on a strong democratic and republican party to have accountability. the problem with this is, they came out punching it at president trump and i think that's not how you're going to create union. unity going forward. >> trace: common sense is coming up. it's coming up. so jason chaffetz, i want to play this sound bite. this is president trump talking about the gold cards. watch. >> these companies can go and buy a gold card. they can use it as a matter of
8:08 pm
recruitment. at the same time, the company is using that money to pay down debt. we're going to pay down a lot of debt with that. >> 200,000 of these gold green cards is $1 trillion to pay down our debt. >> trace: gold card, jason. $5 million a pop. good idea or bad idea? >> it's a good idea. there's a saying out there. nobody wash as rental car. the idea being that nobody goes out and if they don't have anything invested in it, they don't care for it. they don't take care of it. if you're willing to invest money and spend time and effort and do those things in the united states, then that's going to attract some people that are wealthy, they're going to create jobs and they're also going to have a vested interest in the safety security in the future of the united states of america. it's a brilliant idea. >> trace: i wanted your take,
8:09 pm
jason, on the pam bondi thing. she says the jeffrey epstein files could be released tomorrow. she had this to say. i'll get a quick response from you. >> there are well over -- this will make you sick -- 200 victims, 200. i think tomorrow, jesse, breaking news right now, you're going to see some epstein information being released. >> trace: your take on this. should they lay it out there, jason? >> yeah, there's a vested interest by the american people. donald trump and pam bondi will put that out there. a lot of people will have a lot of explaining to do. god bless the victims. they should never have had to go through this hell and the people down there will need to explain this to people and probably spouses and others. i look forward to seeing it. >> trace: jason, christina, thanks to you both. with elon musk taking center stage, the president posed a question to his cabinet asking if any of them were unhappy with
8:10 pm
his high profile adviser. christina coleman is live with the answer to the question. good evening. >> good evening, trace. a reporter asked this question today during trump's big cabinet meeting. take a listen to the president's response. >> anybody unhappy with elon? if you are, we'll throw him out of here. is anybody unhappy? [applause] >> we have a lot of respect for elon. for the most part, everybody is not only happy, they're thrilled. >> today musk said that he's confident that they can find $1 trillion in savings in the federal government with his efforts the root out waste and fraud. >> the overall goal here with the doge team is to help address the deficit. we cannot sustain a country of
8:11 pm
$2 trillion deficits. >> however, some media folks were still not happy with his presence at the meeting. >> elon musk stands up and does this awe shucks routine. i'm just here to help the american people. probably very clear to a lot of folks in the room that he has no idea what he's talking about. >> musk was the dominant force there at the beginning and all the cabinet secretaries were there to in order to do as he tells them to do with their own work force. >> musk is not phased by comments by these. it's clear he has the support of the president as he continues his very important work, trace. >> trace: he does. christina, thank you. well the "fox news @ night" has a common sense question. why is gavin newsome start a podcast? did he resign and now trying his

8:14 pm
governor. seems like something you'd do when you are retiring. i think he wants to change the conversation because the conversation is again about recalling him, helmed by mel gibson. i would rather him tackle california issues and do it directly, not talking. he is just not authentic. he's trying to pull off that new media thing. he's not real. he's fake. >> trace: meantime, jason, here's the media going after elon musk at the cabinet meeting. >> this is a dangerous press depa -- precedent. you don't hear from a single cabinet member but you hear from elon musk. >> musk is not a member of the cabinet. unconfirmed. yet he was there. he's seemingly as important as any cabinet member in that room.
8:15 pm
>> trace: we should bring up the picture of jill biden at the cabinet meeting where nobody said a word. but now it's a big deal, jason. >> it's really interesting. they complain about elon musk having all of this power. yet he's standing there talking to them, being transparent and yet that also doesn't satisfy them. they want to hear from him but they don't want to hear from him. they want him in certain circumstances but not others. the problem i think for democrats right now is elon musk is popular. what he's doing at least is popular. the larger the spotlight they place on him the worse it is for democrats. nobody can say he's not reasonable. he's not responsible. they're going to listen to that, enjoy it even more. >> trace: it's crazy. here's scott jennings from cnn on trump and transparency. watch. >> the first month of the trump administration, the president took 1,009 questions.
8:16 pm
hardly bad behavior. just over 100 for joe biden. the administration revoked the hard passes of 442 journalists. at the time the white house correspondent's association took a noncommittal stance. >> trace: they keep going after these same subjects day in and day out and not acknowledging that a lot of this stuff is working. >> trace, they need to get their messaging straight. is he a dictator as we've been hearing or is president musk. they don't seem to go together. the press secretary has been very clear that it's a privilege to cover the white house from the press briefing room. not every journalist has that. that's the way it's always been. scott jennings is absolutely right. the biden administration revoked those 440 press passes and the
8:17 pm
trump administration gave them back. these so-called journalists don't behave like journalists. it's ironic when they get outraged, they're not treated the way they think they're to be treated. >> trace: meantime, you're near the northern border. tackle the sonny hostin saying this. >> he ran on immigration and he ran on the southern border. we also border canadian -- canada. that's the largest border. but they're not really going in to canada and looking for the canadian people that are kind of jumping back and forth. >> trace: your thoughts. i take it from you to lead us down the path here, jason. >> yeah, tv's dumbest later is being dumb on tv. that's what she does. i have no clue what in god's name she's talking about. she does understand the fact that we're talking about tariffs with canada as well because they're not actually doing enough at the border.
8:18 pm
the main focus has been on a the southern border because that's where the people are coming in. that's where the biggest threat, the largest threat is. she can't figure that out is more a reflection of her obsession on race. she thinks by the way all people in canada are white and that's okay for them to come over. apparently there's no nonwhite people in canada. >> trace: yeah. jason, natalie, thanks both. >> thanks. >> i have been cancelled by a man for speaking up for maine girls. cancelled for speaking up in defense of women's sports. women's rights. and the thousands of young women that want to be able to compete on a fair and level playing field. that is the message that the speaker of the house sent tonight. that woke ideology demands that you cancel girls and you cancel

the women speaking up on their behalf. >> so the maine legislature has voted to censure state representative laura libby over her efforts to keep males out of female sports. we had her on the show two nights ago, so we decided to bring her back tonight to game her interest in keeping up the fight. representative libby joins us now. great to have you on the show. from the sound of your social media post, sounds like you're not about to give up. is that a fair assessment? >> that's a fair assessment. thanks for having me back. no, i'm not giving in on this one. >> trace: yeah, it seems to me because you know, you're a fighter, what is the next step for you when you -- for all intents around purposes, they have silenced you because you won't apologize. they have silenced you. what is your next step? >> yeah, it's truly remarkable. a man silencing a woman for speaking up for girls. the next step is to be determined. i don't believe that this censure is constitutional. that's an opinion that has been
8:20 pm
expressed by a number of folks on the legal side of things. so we're investigating options in that arena to see what the recourse is, to get my voice back for my constituents. you know, not only is this a silencing of maine girls but also my entire house district that elected me to be their voice and their representation in augusta. so we're looking at a legal remedy for this situation. >> trace: its interesting. riley gaines posted this on x. a female representative in maine lost her ability to vote and speak on the house floor for defending girls and women. no, this did not happen in afghanistan. it happened in america. i mean, the whole concept here is that they're going after you because of a political issue. not because of something you did wrong. >> absolutely. that's the bigger picture here, right? this is about women's rights. women's rights have come so far.
8:21 pm
i imagine that you know, the feminists of old are rolling over in their grave to see what's going on in maine these days because they fought so hard for women's rights. you have these girls that are being shoved aside to advance this woke agenda and now me being silenced for standing up for those girls. >> trace: yeah. we have to point out, not a single republican voted to censure. this was a party line vote. it does. it falls on this is nothing but political in your estimation. i have 15 seconds for you. >> yeah, absolutely. a political ploy. frankly the governor and legislative democrats have to double down at this point because they already have. >> trace: yeah, they really have. representative laurel libby, thanks for coming back. best of luck to you. keep us up to date on the fight. thank you. >> thank you. >> trace: coming up, elon musk said the productivity e-mail for federal workers, the five things you did last week was a pulse check. so what is the pulse like for

8:32 pm
they're going about this in a very systematic way. that may seem strange given the chaos takes playing. what doge is doing is number 1 identifying waste, fraud and abuse. they're also exposing the business model of washington d.c. the way these grants are dolled out. these are not based on any sort of performance metrix. >> trace: i want to put this up. you posted this on x. doge is not just saving dallas, it's undermining the business model which has enriched the political class in washington d.c. that is why there's such pushback. elon musk responded to your x post saying correct, the parasites are thrashing hard. is all the democrat thrashing though influencing this debate, peter? that's the question. >> no, i don't think it is. i think it's an act of desperation. it's because the business model is being undermined. you can look at the usaid money
8:33 pm
spent over haiti. over half of the money that was supposed to be spent in haiti was actually spent in the d.c. suburbs because of these consultants that were advising on relief in haiti. you can look at the situation in ukraine, the grants that were dolled out there that benefitted companies that were paying hunter biden, the son of the vice president of the united states. you can look at the green grants that were being passed out. stacy abrams was part of a nonprofit that got a $2 billion grant. that grant came a month after they got their tax status when they were formed and one month after stacy abrams had endorsed joe biden that the democrats should stick with joe biden. a lot of this money is being used as a slush fund for political benefit. that needs to end. it's indefensible. >> trace: lastly, the "boston globe" writes, don't by doge. fraud is everywhere. what is fraudulent here is the trump administration effort to portray doge as well on its way

to identify massive amounts of easily cuttable spending. it isn't. this is political theater meant to produce dramatic headlines and instill false impressions. in actuality, there's no free fiscal lunch. you hear it again. performative crap. it's kind of a theme here, peter. >> yeah, it is. i'm old enough to remember when the democrats talked about waist and fraud in the department of defense. the $9,000 toilet seats. all of which was true, but that applies to all government, not just the pentagon. the doge committee needs to be praised because they are looking at everything. they're looking at the pentagon, looking at hhs. nobody is avoiding detection here. i think they're off to a great start. they need to continue. it's not going to balance the budget but it's going to change the culture in washington d.c., which trace, is absolutely crucial going forward. >> trace: nobody brings that up.
