nassau county is. tell us how. >> thank you for having me. first, this administration, first thing blakeman did in 2022 was sign executive order that said nassau county is not a sanctuary county. his position has been clear from the start. we have partnered with u.s. customs enforcement to designate 10 detectives to work with ice and to carry out targeted enforcement and then we've also in conjunction with that, held off 50 beds at nassau county facility to hold detainees while they are processed through federal law, immigration, whatever ice is going to do. we provide them opportunity to detain them in our facility. >> carley: has kathy hochul

expressed opposition to partnering with ice? >> i have not heard some, my guess would be yes, i have not specifically heard anything. >> carley: battling ae ms-13 fo years. a honduran national raped a young girl and cut ankle monitors off with burglary tools. serious crimes is a major motivating factor for you doing what you are doing. >> absolutely. in new york state, we have laws that prevent criminals from being detained. we have lost judicial discretion and release criminals back to the streets to reoffend. this is way to fight back in way we can by using federal partners and making sure dangerous criminals are not released.

nassau county was rated -- we are doing everything we can to remain the safest county. >> carley: it is a sanctuary state, meaning police can't coordinate and work with ice. how much more difficult does that status make it for you to get criminals out of your county? >> it definitely poses challenges, lawsuits and things like that continually come down from albany, the federal government preempts state law, we will work with ice. when you partner with the federal government like what we're doing now, they designate 10 detectives have same authority as ice, they are operating as ice agents in conjunction with their detective duties. they have power to make arrests of those illegally here. if they have a judicial warrant or something to indicate they

doge, which we need, we cannot continue down this path as elon musk just said. how do you navigate that need with what your constituents told you at that meeting? >> i think everybody realizes we are spending a lot of money we shouldn't. unreal expenses, that is just tip of the iceberg, it will affect jobs, you are talking about laying off people in government, government is too large. we have to be careful about messaging, the town hall hit hard on some people. most were democrats, no doubt about it. there are some people who are republicans and good americans who work for the government and they have been taken by surprise. we should not be celebrating that, it is not willy-nilly, we have to understand these are people with mortgages and children and house payments and things they need to pay for. we have to be compassionate.

to try to win black back the voters he has lost. i don't think he'll be able to do that because as of yesterday, mayor johnson and city council, we don't want this onus on him, voted for over $800 million bond that will cost the city overtime 2.2 billion dollars, which has contributed to sending our credit rating below national standards, which is something we don't want to see happen. and his excuse for that is well, other mayors before me have done it. just the stupidity of it all, you sit back and look and you are saying that we elected you because we thought you were going to be different and thought you would be fiscally responsible and this is not fiscally responsible. even with state of illinois, mismanagement continues.

we see the state has un underestimated amount of money spent on migrant healthcare, which is sending our state budget to 2.2 billion deficit. which you look at the money being spent, we have to say not only in chicago, in the state of illinois, people are not the priority. >> todd: glad you mention state at large, illinois state of education, with regard to getting rid of dei, the su superintendent said we will hold to our values and whether or not we can get that message across in that particular room referring to the white house does not mean i'm going to stop. i will ask this question through the lens of the people, you are a resident of illinois, is that what people want? to lose federal education

woke ideology demands that you cancel girls and cancel the women speaking up on their behalf. >> catherine collins is the mother of three student athletes in maine, including one daughter. and she joins me now. catherine, good morning to you. i want to get into this post by riley gaines who responded to this situation in your state saying a female representative in maine lost her ability to vote and speak on the house floor for defending girls and women. no, this didn't happen in afghanistan. it happened in america. what is your reaction to this situation that's unfolding in maine? >> well, it is just sick that laurel libby has been silenced by men for speaking up for girls ridiculous. this has been going on in maine for several years. in the past two years, there has been two boys pretending to be girls competing in girls sports. both of them have won state titles. which really shows you the disparity between men and women in sports.

men have a 12 to 20% advantage over women, basic biology and this just -- it's very unfair. >> carley: when it comes to track and your children, you say you had to read up on the rules of the height of the bar, the weight of the shot, the length of the javelin, all of that have to be thrown out because boys want to pretend to be girls and it doesn't make sense. >> correct. i'm a certified official. so i have to make sure that the athletes follow all the rules of the sport in each event. all of that is thrown out whenning make difference between men and women is ignored. this boy who won the pole vault, the girl's pole vault state title he came within one inch of the girl's all-time record of the state. he would have come in -- he came in tenth last year at the state

meet and he would have come in tenth this year at the state meet. >> carley: catherine there has been a lot of discussion over the exchange last week. watch this. i was going to play the exchange, i'm sure many people saw it? >> there it is. sorry. >> carley: it was the governor of maine and donald trump going back and forth on the transgender issue. and ended up saying we will see you in court. there is $250 million in federal funding on the line. what do you think the reaction would be from residents in maine if the governor sticks to opposing the zoshed that donald trump signed into law barring biological men from competing and the state losing that federal funding? >> i think it would be devastating to our state. we are a very poor state that receives a lot of federal

funding. our schools are already under budget. they don't -- i mean overbudget. they don't have enough money to educate the students we already have with the federal money. janet mills has been a dictator since she was elected into office. she over the lockdown she locked down our state for over a year and a half, didn't allow students to go to school. she didn't let parents watch their children compete in sports. she didn't let -- she almost mandated vaccines for all athletes. and she forced children to wear masks while they were competing in sports. >> carley: the latest on this, catherine attorney general pam bondi sent a letter to officials in maine, california, and minnesota, urging the states to comply with trump's executive order or else. and that means that they're going to court and potential federal funding could get pulled. so, we will certainly be watching this.
