4:01 am
ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy at the white house tomorrow on friday as peace talks continue between russia and ukraine. president trump's special envoy steve witkoff is here to tell us the very latest. >> lawrence: plus, i was in the room for president trump's first cabinet meeting and i got in a question about federal agents, federal ice agents being doxxed by a progressive activist in los angeles. >> a lot of those activists are acting illegally, and we will give that to our attorney general and she will take a look at that very strongly. >> ainsley: and r.f.k. jr. getting his first major wins a hhs secretary. we will tell you what it is. the second hour of "fox & friends" starts right now and remember, your mornings are better with friends. >> ainsley: today former united states workers go back into the office to collect their personal
4:02 am
belongs. >> lawrence: meanwhile supreme court john roberts putting a pause regarding frozen foreign aid funding. >> steve: rich edson live on the north lawn of the white house with details. rich, it sounds like office of personnel management has made it very clear, forget about the probationary employees it sounds like large scale firings are just around the corner. >> that's right. this going to be further into this now as the agency is outlining even more cuts and agencies are going to have to come up with that starting with usaid right now in about 30 minutes staff will get 15 minutes to go into the office box up their desks and leave the building. this as the administration is cutting usaid staff, reviewing and terminating agency contracts and folding the american aid organization into the state department. there are already lawsuits last night john roberts temporarily
4:03 am
side with the administration and determined usaid could hold off paying about 2 billion-dollar for aid work already completed. the full court is expected to weigh in on that soon. but there are more lawsuits and more expected as the president is looking to deeply cut into the federal workforce. the devil rays is directing agencies to develop plans by march 13th for large scale layoffs, a month later, agencies are expected to outline how they will consolidate offices or even relocate some out of the washington, d.c. area. as the president is pressing government workers to respond to that doge request to list their accomplishments. >> i would like to add that those million people that haven't responded to elon, they are on the bubble i wouldn't say that we are thrilled about it. maybe we are paying people that don't exist, don't forget, this group just got here maybe they
4:04 am
have other jobs or moved and not where this are supposed to. >> the if the then signed an executive order requiring that government agencies plubly release information regarding government travel expenses and payments where possible. steve, ainsley, lawrence, back to you. >> steve: so, rich, with these large scale layoffs that sound like are a couple of weeks away, they haven't really given any target numbers of how small they would like to reduce the workforce. they are just trying to find extra money with redundant services, making things more efficient. and that's going to be complicated. >> very complicated. what this process is they have asked agencies to come back with their plans on how they can reduce each of their workforces. they cited the epa saying they are going to reduce 65% of workforce as an example but it doesn't necessarily say every agency has got to be cut by 65%. this is a process that's moving very quickly given the history
4:05 am
of this. but it's up to the agencies now to come up with how they are going to reduce their staff and that's process is due in just a few weeks. >> steve: one other side note, given the fact i noticed this is kind of a feature story, but it impacts so many people. the number of homes, currently being listed on real estate agri gators like zillow and realtor.com, the number of homes now for sale in the washington, d.c. area is skyrocketing because so many people have either lost their jobs or thinking about leaving. >> ainsley: i haven't seen that i think my housing value is okay from what i checked. i don't know. >> steve: good. >> ainsley: if you are not happy and looking for something else, there's a lot out there, apparently. good information. >> lawrence: thanks, rich. >> ainsley: elon musk in the cabinet meeting is getting a lot of death threats. they are stacking up. but he said it's worth it because if not our government is going to go bankrupt.
4:06 am
america will go bankrupt. remember when he asked send me an email of the five things that you have done and accomplished over the last week. send it to your boss, too. he said it's actually a pulse check. anyone could do this. you just jot down five things on an email. it's really because i want to see who is not responding and if there are really live body people. >> lawrence: they are creating all these codes using ai to detect different things within the government, to figure out what is going on. they are looking at the spending. but they are also looking at the productivity as well. and so the sense i get the way they were trying to explain it was that was just to see if there was a person there then they can conduct more analysis after that. we heard in that cabinet meeting another email coming very soon they didn't say what it was. elon musk is supposed to send somebody out to solicit a response. i had the opportunity to talk to the president a big story we keep hearing about. the number one issue for him was
4:07 am
the border. now, apparently, activists are doxxing our federal agent. i asked the president about that. this is what he had to say. >> mr. president, your number one issue was the border. we just got new information they're doxxing our federal agents. they are putting their personal information out there, these activists. and they are disrupting the operations so you got tren de aragua running all over. what are we going to do about the activists? >> a lot of those activists are acting illegal i. and we will give that to our attorney general and she'll take a look at that very strongly. but we also having a tremendous support from border patrol, from ice, the ice agencies have been unbelievable. border patrol, their leadership at border patrol has been incredible. we set records on the least number of illegal aliens coming in, migrants coming into our country that we had -- that we have had in more than 50 years. remember, they were coming in from jails and prisons and mental institutions.
4:08 am
and insane asylums and they were gang members and drug dealers. i want that to be really understood. we want people in our country but they have come in legally. >> ainsley: tremendous job getting illegals off the streets. tom homan has been a part of that look at the numbers. in the last month, they have nabbed 20,000 illegals in all of joe biden's last. he 33,000. that's 627% increase in monthly arrests under donald trump. >> lawrence: just incredible. >> steve: clearly what he is doing is effective because with the raids and stuff like that, we just put up that dox o -- the agent's pictured from out in california. the people who run the cartels, the people who are out there, they don't like the fact that their business model is getting screwed up by donald trump. and so that's why they put in that and essentially it says beware of these faces.
4:09 am
and it's got their phone number. i think it's got their addresses. clearly, the message is, if you are trying to take us out, we're trying to take you out. >> lawrence: exactly right. >> steve: don't do it. these are the people following the law. they are following instruction from donald trump, who, as you said, it was his number one issue. the border. and so, it shouldn't be a surprise that people are going after them. >> lawrence: steve, one of the cool things about getting to interact with the president when you ask him these questions, the cabinet members and the administration, you get an immediate response from them. right when i left the press conference, i got a message from a senior justice department official saying they know exactly hot activists are. they know their connection to the other groups. and we should be hearing about action very soon. we'll stand by for that. >> ainsley: tom homan said on monday ice agents nabbed 11 migrants in one area. they were child rapists, gang bangers and killers.
4:10 am
>> steve: a couple weeks ago we were talking about how they were planning some department of homeland security was planning some raids. and at the last minute, suddenly, they go there and somebody had leaked information to the press. >> lawrence: in aurora. >> steve: we heard from kristi noem a few days ago they have learned hot leakers are. sounds like she wasn't referring to anybody in any other agency. sounds like somebody internally in one of the departments that she oversees. >> ainsley: really? >> steve: so they know who the leakers are. she said those people will be fired. >> ainsley: in aurora we thought it was someone from the press. larynx. >> lawrence: they gave it to the press. >> steve: if you got that information as a member of the press, a lot of people would run with that. if you release that endanger the members of our law enforcement. they sit on it. >> lawrence: that's what i did. i had the information about the
4:11 am
raid obviously my connection with law enforcement. i just didn't think it was smart to broadcast the locations of these raids just to give some context. for that o aurora raid that was planned there, they have to fly in over 200 federal agents for that because they have all of these targets. they end up catching like two or three people that day because they had been tipped off. so, not only was it a major failure when it comes to the amount of money that it costs for a raid like that, because we are talking about a joint task force, you have multiple swat teams that have to do that, but, also, the criminals got away. they are somewhere else in some other state or city. it's not smart to broadcast that from my personal opinion. >> ainsley: last night -- did you have something else? >> steve: so you have got the raid. you have got the deportation flights. and then you have got the other thing a great deterrent, if you come into this country and criminal alien. you might wind up at gitmo. >> ainsley: that's right. pete hegseth used to serve at
4:12 am
gitmo. he has devoted a few years of his life to serve our country and he was assigned to gitmo. those where they are housing the suspected terrorists from 9/11. laura ingraham went down with pete hegseth in the southeastern part of cuba. they toured it and she aired a little bit of that last night. here's a clip. >> i think the message is clear. if you break the law, if you are a criminal, you could find your way at guantanamo bay. you don't want to be at guantanamo bay. which is where we house al-qaeda after 9/11. they're professionals, they do their jobs. it's not easy. it's not an easy time. it's a maximum security prison. these are top notch, top tier facilities run by professionals where they bend over backwards to make sure that medical, dental, healthcare, food, religious accommodations, language accommodations all exist. no, you're not going to have universal freedom at guantanamo bay. it's a prison. but they get all the time that
4:13 am
they need as a temporary place to send them home. this is about temporarily holding high profile, high threat individuals who then we send home. >> lawrence: favorite part about the package was at one point laura asked him about sheik mohammed who was was a part of 9/11 in some capacity. but laura asked him, you know, did you have the opportunity to go see him? and how is he doing? and pete was like, the secretary of defense was like yeah, i did see him. and i really don't care how is he doing. and he said this is one of the one things that he agreed with lloyd austin that this guy should be getting the death penalty. >> steve: we have heard for years about in the very beginning when they started shipping the al-qaeda members to gitmo, we heard about how all of the conditions were. and then you see it, and pete is absolutely right. it is a high security maximum
4:14 am
security prison. you see all that concertina wire there and chain linked fences and that other stuff. laura did a walk around in some of the actual corridors where the people stay. it is really nice. >> lawrence: it is. >> steve: i know there are probably people who are in other parts of the world going i would love to live there. but, keep in mind, it is a high security prison you are there being ships some place else. probably home if your government will take you. >> ainsley: last week 200 illegal migrants flown to venezuela back to venezuela from gitmo. so we have been sending people there. there was actually a flight that came in when laura was there. you can see it in the background when she was being interviewed. the president's goal is he wants to house 30,000 migrants there. and that has been a challenge. tom homan talked about the challenge of not only sanctuary cities and the leaks out there.
4:15 am
but also the space for detention. >> laura: i think the great thing that we are starting to hear. of course, you see the border. it is the most secured border we have ever seen in this country's history right now. have you got the military. have you got border patrol that are finally able to do their job. all the military assets in the air. but now the president is starting to shift the conversation now to the legal pathway. and i think, you know, for all the criticism that he has received about he doesn't want people coming to this country, now it looks like the administration is starting to unveil their plan for people to do this the legal way. >> steve: well, and to that point about the way the -- when you come into the united states, how you are approached, keep in mind, just last week we had only 200 apprehensions on our southern border. the lowest number in something like 15 years. and the reason is, they have from the installed the entire wall yet. they don't really need at this point. because, as soon as -- during
4:16 am
joe biden, you come across the border, you look for the border patrol, you say hey, i'm over here. i give myself up. i want asylum. and then they take you in. now it's completely different. hey, i want asylum. you go head south right there. the whole approaches meantime quarter after the hour. this is startling news and fox news alert. if you are just getting up we are just learning this morning as of midnight last night legendary actor, two-time oscar winner gene hackman and his wife were found dead yesterday in their new mexico home. >> lawrence: todd piro joins us with what we know so far? >> todd: shocking news to wake up to. gene hackman and his wife betsy found dead along with their dog found unresponsive yesterday in their home in santa fe, new

dad. >> yes, ma'am, my father retired about 15 years ago from here in the united states. brownsville, texas. throughout the years he had purchased mexico, the state he was born. in he back there. he had both a little ranch, a cattle ranch and also some more land that he harvest. on friday, january 31st. after being here in the states for about a week or so. he returned to his ranch finally left here in brownsville, finally made it to a small town where the people live. made it there around roughly, maybe like around 1:00. at 2:30 i get the call that something had happened. they wouldn't tell me what had happened. tried to get in communication with the people down there, the family i have down there. and they had mentioned that he

ieds. i don't know about ieds they told me a land mine of some sort and he was trapped in his vehicle four of my family members or friends went over to the ied site. it was struck on the driver's side. they were able to flip it over to its tires and take my dad outside. but he was already dead. my brothers and i, we acted. we went down there as fast as we could take about hour and a half to get down there with traffic. we are about 20 minutes out of the town when i got the call that he had passed away. we picked up his body and brought him back brownsville, texas. we had a funeral there for about two days because he had his family members in mexico, and then on tuesday we over to the u.s. in brownsville and buried

him. >> ainsley: ramiro i'm so sorry. i knowed you served our country 20 year army veteran. served in afghanistan and iraq. you earned a purple heart being injured in an ied explosion. you expect this in the middle east but not on your dad's ranch. why are the cartels doing this. >> i believe they are fighting territory, ma'am, to be honest with you. but my dad started his ranch about 20 years ago. , 20 years ago when he started his ranch. in 2010 cartels, that's when the violence started. the violence has always been there. the people are -- i don't want to say they are used to it, but it's like when i was in iraq some people were used to the terrorist attacks over there in iraq and afghanistan. so, the people get used to these kind of actions. but, the ieds and drones, that is something new. i believe the issued a warning on january 27th. so, we actually did not have
4:55 am
enough time to react to these threats because -- because my dad died on january 31st. it's something new the cartels are using to defend territory. >> ainsley: do you consider this a terrorist attack? >> my personal opinion, ma'am, yes. my i spoke to family members before, iraq and afghanistan. these are the same tactics that the terrorist group were using in iraq. >> ainsley: you don't expect that to happen on this side of the world. what can our government do. what county mexican government do. what are you asking from donald trump to prevent this? >> ma'am, right now, with president trump new policy, i believe there is some changes coming up. i believe that the supreme court that the u.s. can give the mexican government by providing, you know, and not only intel but
4:56 am
support with troops, training their troops, because i see as one sided war right now. i believe that the cartels have more sophisticated equipment than the mexican army has. and also the training. they need some training on how to combat terrorism. >> ainsley: well, i know your father lost his life, his friend was sitting in the front seat, lost his life as well. and the friend's wife was in the back seat. and suffered injuries and was hospitalized. god bless you. thank you so much, ramiro, thank you so much for your service to our country. >> thank you, ma'am. i appreciate that. >> ainsley: you're welcome. more "fox & friends" coming up. patients who have sensitive teeth but also want whiter teeth they have to make
