felt disrespected by zelenskyy basically pushing back on the u.s.'s generosity and that he needed to be more grateful. remember, this mineral still did not come with any security deals. in the oval office meeting that the president was present for code of the conversations went off of the rails when the issue of security guarantees first came up. zelenskyy was trying to give a history lesson two president trump and vice president vance. in the past we have had cease-fires without guarantees and putin has violated them. he has gobbled up parts of the ukraine and while the u.s. may not care about that right now, there is a big ocean between you. if you let putin go unchecked, certainly the rest of the world will feel it. that was the point where the vice president really accused zelenskyy of peddling propaganda and being ungrateful and not,

guarantees. the opposition american investment in your region is a guarantee of its own. separate from the minerals deal, there were the contours of the peace talk european leaders have been talking about with the president over the last week. we saw emmanuel macron from france go to u.k. prime minister yesterday. they were volunteering that once cease-fire is established and we can get peacekeeping boots on the ground, they would want to play a role. there was not a pledge for any future u.s. assistance in this minerals deal. there was not a security guarantee explicitly from the u.s. and the minerals deal. zelenskyy had resistance side signing as a hold out for that. in the meeting that we witnessed, tell him invoiced the need guarantees once again. that is when everything devolved. we did not see the deal signing or the joint press conference talking about the next steps that have not been clearly articulated because of how intense the negotiation was

did not like his attitude. essentially has body language, eye rolling and he was clearly frustrated. i think perhaps he was not in the right frame of mind to do a peace deal with economic -- remember this mineral deal is step one or two as president trump has said several times over the past few days, there are a lot of steps. every time front of peacekeepers, you know what, that is a nice thing to talk about, but we are nowhere near that yet. we know how much further away russia is on all of this as i mentioned before. they want a new election and they want zelenskyy gone and ukraine military that is shrunk and not allowed to get any bigger. they did not want european peacekeepers in the country. these two sites are extremely far apart. this mineral deal was supposed to be the step to get them closer. we heard the tough language of president trump a few days ago

calling zelenskyy a dictator when he refused to sign the deal. this deal is what president trump has seen has the necessary step to get to the next few steps out of there are many. they tripped up on the first step today in a major, major way. i would imagine that they are trying to patch this thing back together at least just for the mineral deal or to a 50/50 and let's do some money and start economic intervention here and see where we can go from there max. >> sandra: shannon, the news conferences canceled canceled and as far as we know, bret said the interview he has with president zelenskyy tonight and still on 6:00 eastern time. there could be some sort of messaging, obviously to the white house to the interview and we will be listening for that. here is more from the exchange inside the oval office. here is president trump telling zelenskyy, "you don't have the cards right now." listen. >> you don't have the cards right now. with us you have some cards.
