wanted to say sorry for the way things unfolded he said no and i don't know what zelenskyy thought was going to happen. rachel: i don't know if that would have been enough, the impression i get is there was a deal hammered out before they walked into this room and zelenskyy decides that he is going to change the plan. this was supposed to be a follow-up, thank you as you said and let's carry on, get the war over with, stop the killing, but he changed the plan and marco rubio was sitting there as well on the couch next to jd vance and marco rubio had had the same kind of problems with zelenskyy where he would say one thing and then reneged but you don't go into the oval office about a peace plan and when you are there with all the press change

the rules with donald trump, that took to both him and the vice president off. am i right that that happened? >> i think so without a doubt and the new york post reported that keith kellogg, general keith kellogg who was trump's envoy to try to find a solution to a peace deal here had warned against the idea of zelenskyy coming to the white house to sign the deal, the ukrainians wanted to do it, they wanted a big show at the white house, signed a deal between trump and zelenskyy, they wanted the optics and general kellogg warned against it exactly because he was concerned that something like this could happen because so lenski has a habit of trying to playoff the media and in general one of the things that, you know who -- everybody is a little bit surprised because donald trump in that meeting, the first time an american official has ever stood up and said okay, but

what about america's interests and it was shocking to everybody but most of all it was shocking to zelenskyy. peter:he felt so entitled, that for the three years prior he was going in and they would be in the oval with president biden and kamala harris and tony blinken and they want to the lecture about democracy and how it is supposed to work and they would say we got the checkbook and here you go. todd: that administration didn't care about the american people, what they were suffering through after covid and all the data and all the inflation and everything going on, we have our own problems, mr. zelenskyy and he walked in and he and the europeans do not care about, emblematic of the entire continent there, they don't care about what we are doing, they think we are just a piggy bank and ever since donald trump's first term, he's been like, hey, we are not your piggy bank, you're not your policeman, you got to have skin in the game but no one is a

final touches on the mineral steel. a us official tells the new york post as negotiations wrapped up zelenskyy's chief of staff pushed for the ukrainian president to join trump at the white house to sign the agreement. kellogg advised against it knowing the relationship between the two presidents need to be strengthened before meeting in person. that official telling the new york post it is up to zelenskyy to fix the situation. todd: she referred to what you talked about with kellogg but a lot of opportunities for peace, many times throughout the last however many years this is been going on but a lot of people were making money and didn't want peace and so now we are with a presidential does want it.

peter:there were efforts to achieve peace and if your zelenskyy and ukraine and getting tens and hundreds of billions of dollars coming in the door is that going to incentivize you to reach peace or not reach peace and donald trump is the first person to come along and recognize maybe that incentivize them not to achieve peace. todd: a lot of people making money. >> wasn't that long ago the democratic lawmakers were calling the for a cease-fire and end of the war, that was in israel. todd: let's move to this. jd vance was the keynote speaker at the national catholic prayer breakfast and after the speech, charlie and i spoke, was he listening to our conversations on the couch? he kind of hit everything, kind of a love letter to catholics and morning ferguson was running this event and let's listen to a little bit of what jd said on the other side

because this speech encapsulates why i believe jd vance is the thought leader of the conservative party in terms of crucial issues, listen. >> i want to say a couple words about trump administration policy because while you are certainly not always going to agree with everything we do in donald trump's administration i feel confident in saying that between protecting the rights of pro-life protesters, between ensuring we have an opportunity to protect the rights of the unborn in the first place and importantly protecting the religious liberty of all people but in particular catholics, we can say donald trump though not a catholic himself has been an incredibly good president for catholics in the united states of america. we will always listen to people of faith and people of conscience in the united states of america, you have an open door to the trump administration, even and

especially maybe when you disagree with us. peter:one of the things it baffles me is jd vance a week ago gave a speech similar to the one he gave at the national catholic prayer breakfast to european leaders talking about the importance of religious liberties and free speech and put them very much on notice that this administration is going to stand up for those important principles that once united all of the western world and europe has wandered away from and we saw it on display again at that breakfast yesterday and i agree with you, going forward, jd vance is assumed the mantle of the successor of this new movement in america. >> they said that it wasn't a set up yesterday but trump looked happy, to see the vice president, the reason don

junior pushed him during the summer to be the running mate is because of stuff like this and we haven't seen it yet. you've got zelenskyy sitting there like this and vance doing the pointing, trump looked pleased just to have a front row seat. rachel: j d vance is a convert to catholicism. these are people that catholics can take so much of the beauty of the church for granted and you see a love and appreciation for his newfound faith, talked about his son getting baptized, how monumental that was, he talked about religious liberty and mentioned all the bad things the last administration did, infiltrating their churches, arresting them, pro-life activists in their homes with guns drawn, their children around crying and wives crying, this was true

persecution but he also talked about the christian communities who suffer now, we had a story last week about 70 christians beheaded in a church in congo but he talked about the regime change and all the war machinations of the neocon world and how that has wreaked havoc on our ancient christian communities and made a call for peace and listen, jesus christ is the prince of peace and so it is wonderful we have an administration that has peace in mind even if it gets a little testy in the oval office trying to achieve it. >> he talked about how he doesn't always get the greatest applause from cardinals and the audience applauded and the other one was at the end when he stopped and asked everyone to pray for pope francis, that was another -- neil: unifying moment.
