in these first weeks and months of the trump administration of incredible manufacturing coming to america. the key is that the president has called out are coming here. they are coming here and each size because they want to be in the greatest market in the world, and they want to avoid the terrorist that if they are not here they would have to suffer, so i want to congratulate cc wei, but it is on the shoulders of our president donald trump, which is why he is coming. so thank you. musk david. >> thank you, sir. the products tsmc makes are literally the most important products in the world. these advanced chips power everything. ai, your phone, your cars. without them, the whole modern economy would stop, but they are not made in the united states, so are tsmc to move here is a huge development. we owe that to president trump's
11:50 am
leadership on the economy. cc, thank you for coming here. >> president trump: thank you very much. they percentage of chips with this investment will be made n now. big percentage. worldwide we have very little. almost none. we used to have a lot with intel, but we had very little, and we will be had close to 40% of the market with this transaction and a couple of others that we are doing. that is a tremendous leap. like a leaf that nobody would have really said was possible, so i just want to thank you all for being here. if you want a couple of questions, ideally on the subject. >> the jobs that it will create -- >> president trump: you are probably talking about 20,000, 25,000 jobs, but it will get bigger and bigger with time. there will be no stopping them. >> mr. president -- >> in addition to the jobs come you talked about national security. that is one thing that americans
11:51 am
don't understand. explain the national security aspect of this. >> president trump: without the chips and semiconductors, nothing runs today. you can buy the car without them. you cannot get a radio, television, you cannot get anything. we thought it was very important for business but even in terms of national security to have this large percentage of the chips semiconductors and other things that they may, the most important product. not a product you can really copy. it takes years and years. on the needle of the pen, total genius. they can put things -- something the size of the needle -- the point of the pen, they put information that is just not even believable. anyone sees this, it is just really something. >> honda announced they are coming to indiana because of the tariffs. once again, bringing additional jobs and manufacturing.
11:52 am
>> president trump: honda is coming. i told you about apple. they are starting to build massively here. and we have many other companies to be announced, but many that have already announced. now it is going to be great. it is looking really strong. i don't think this country has ever seen anything like what we are seeing right now. the tariffs as you know will start weed earlier than the reciprocal, which is going to be a couple years earlier. reciprocal tariffs start april 2nd, and i wanted to make it april 1st, but i did not want to go april fools' day because that costs a lot of money, so we are going april 2nd, but very importantly, tomorrow, 25% on canada. 25% on mexico. so they are going to have to have tariffs -- build their car plans frankly and other things in the united states. in which case they have no tariffs.
11:53 am
this is exactly what mr. wei is doing. if they did them in time want to send them here, they will have 25% or 30% or 50% or whatever wr the number may be. they will go only up, but by doing it here, he has no tariffs, so he is way ahead of the game. i would just say this to people in canada or mexico, if they are going to build car plans, the people that are doing them are much better off building here because we have the market where they sell the most, so i think it's going to be very exciting. very exciting for the automobile companies. very exciting for -- an example, north carolina, i used to go there to buy furniture for hotels. and it has been wiped out, the business all went to other countries. now it is all going to come back into north carolina. the furniture manufacturing business. >> ukraine minerals deal now dead or cannot be revived?
11:54 am
>> president trump: we are making a speech. you have probably heard about it. but no, i don't think so. it is a great deal for us because you know, biden very foolishly, stupidly, frankly, gave $300 billion on $350 billion, more accurately, to a country to fight and to try and do things, and you know what happened? we get nothing. we could have rebuilt our entire u.s. navy with $350 billion. think of it. we could have rebuilt our u.s. navy, so he gave it away as fast as i money could be got, and we are getting that all back. and a lot more than that. we need it -- it's very important for this business we are talking about here with chips and semiconductors, we need rare earth's, and the deal we have, we have the finest --
11:55 am
>> mr. president, what you need to see from president zelenskyy to restart these negotiations? >> president trump: i just think he should be more appreciative because this company has stuck with him during thick and thin, giving him much more than europe. that's right there. that's the border. this country really was like the fence on the border. it was very important to europe. i am not knocking europe. i am saying they were a lot smarter than joe biden here joe biden did not have a clue. he just gave money hand over fist, and they should have been able to equalize with us. if we give a dollar, they should have given a dollar. they probably gave 100. on top of it all, they get their money back because they are doing it in the form of the loan. when i saw that, i said it is time for us to be smart. at the same time, it's great for them because they got us in the
11:56 am
country taking their rare earth, which is going to feel this big engine, especially the engine that we have created. re there. we have a presence there. with all of that being said, i want one thing that happened. i want all of those young people to stop being killed. they are being killed by the thousands every week. last week 2700 were killed. 2700 young -- just about all young boys. from ukraine. and from russia. that is not young people from the united states, but on the human basis, i want to see it stop. the money is one thing, but the death -- they are losing thousands of soldiers a week. that is not including the people that get killed every time a town goes down or a missile goes into a town. and i want to see it stop.
11:57 am
yes. >> have you been considering military aid to ukraine? can we get a reaction to what he says, that your administration is bringing the u.s. worldview in alignment with moscow's? >> president trump: this is a deal that should have never happened. this is a deal that would not have happened, and it didn't happen for four years, not even close to happening if i were president. would not have happened. october 7th would not have happened in israel. and inflation would not have happened here to afghanistan, disastrous, the way they withdrew. not the fact that they withdrew about the way that they withdrew. we would have had bob graham right now instead of china having it. we would have kept it, one of the biggest airbases in the world. all of these things happen, and it's a shame, but it is what it is, and now we are here. i want to see it end fast. i don't want to see this go on for years and years. president zelenskyy supposedly
11:58 am
made a statement today in ap -- not a big fan of ap, so maybe it was an incorrect statement. he says he thinks the war is going to go on for a long time, and he better not be right about that. that's all i'm saying. >> could this minimize the impact, should china decide to isolate taiwan or china decides to take time want? >> president trump: great question actually, but this would certainly -- i cannot say minimize. that would be a catastrophic event obviously, but it will at least give us a position where we have in this very important business, we would have a very big part of it in the united states. have a big impact if something should happen with taiwan. >> are you looking at relieving russian sanctions if there is a peace deal? >> everybody to get this work, including european nations, and they've acted very well.
11:59 am
most of them are friends of mine. the heads of state, various prime ministers from the different -- i get four prime ministers. four prime ministers, five presidents called me over the last two days, and they want to work it out. they want to get it worked out. i think they're also -- they are talking money, but the money is less important than the death. we are talking thousands of young people a week. people say why do i care about ukraine young people? why do i care about -- not all young, but they are pretty young. ukraine is running a little bit low, and they are getting older. they are recruiting older people. it's a very sad thing that's happening over there, and we want to get it finished. we want to stop the death. >> is there in the room for canada and mexico to make a deal before midnight, and should we expect to the chinese terrace to take effect?
12:00 pm
>> no room left for mexico or canada. they are all set. they go into effect tomorrow. >> just a follow up on my colleagues question. >> president trump: vast amounts of fentanyl have poured into our country from mexico, and as you know also from china where it goes to mexico and goes to canada, and so it is ten plus ten. and it comes in from canada and comes in from mexico. that is a very important thing to say. >> have you decided if you are going to suspend military aid to ukraine? >> president trump: i have not even talked about that right now. we will see what happens. a lot of things are happening right now. as we speak right now, literally as we speak i could give you an answer and go back to my office. the beautiful oval office. i could go back and find out that the answer is obsolete. it's like his business. you come up with the new chip, and it's obsolete about 2 minute
