my angle in moments. but gave it out to every single senate republican earlier today when he had lunch with them. so he's handing out his cell phone number to try to basically be as transparent as possible with these lawmakers who do have a lot of questions. and right now, we're told that republicans are just trying to get on the same page as doge, should try to figure out how to make some of these doge cuts permanent through congress. and as i mentioned earlier today, he met with senate republicans. and one idea in the senate,
1:02 am
laura, that's being floated right now on how to make those cuts permanent is to do a rescission package in order to claw back some of these funds that have already been appropriated by congress. now, the other part of this meeting is likely to give lawmakers a chance to ask elon musk some pretty direct questions, some concerns that their constituents might have back at home. we've seen some we've seen some disruptions happening during town halls, whether or not these are paid activists like speaker johnson has claimed. we're told that members will have some space tonight to ask elon some questions about doj's operations. listen. >> i think we will also have an opportunity to share with, with mr. musk on some of the concerns that we may have on, hey, here's some concerns we're seeing in our districts. and have you thought about this, that or the other. >> in a country like bangladesh? >> so we'll see how long this meeting goes. the meeting earlier today with senate republicans lasted for about two hours, a very long time. and that was just about 50 people. so this one is going to

be a packed house. and it might take a while to get through everyone. laura. >> all right. all right ayesha. another long night there. thank you very much. a trump divorce that's the focus of tonight's angle. well, the polls and the reviews are in. and the president was masterful last night in tone and substance. now, he was both serious and at times a little humorous. >> we have ended weaponized government where, as an example, a sitting president is allowed to viciously prosecute his political opponent like me. how did that work out? not to attention. not to good. >> as predicted, democrats, though, put on a buffoonish display. it was all paddles and pouts, clutching their insipid round signs on sticks. they look like a bunch of lunatic homeless people who stumbled
1:04 am
into an auction house. trump's just driven the left stark raving mad. >> we all go a little mad sometimes. haven't you? >> the slogan of refuse fascism is in the name of humanity. we refuse to accept a fascist usa. >> and what the hell are you doing here in america? go back to south africa. >> okay, now, not only are liberals for war and against female athletes, apparently they're okay with telling immigrants legal immigrants that they don't like to go back to africa. okay, i just want to know the rules. now, these are angry, petty people and many of the same people who accuse president trump of not upholding governmental norms and protocols back in 2020, but they couldn't even stand up when the president walked into
1:05 am
the gallery last night. now, as you'll recall, republicans didn't agree much with obama and biden not too much over 12 years that they were in office as president. but republicans nevertheless stood politely and applauded for the office of the presidency when they walked in for their addresses, but not these miscreants. last night they were happy to lay waste to protocol and tradition. so they behave like spoiled children, like such sore losers that many of them couldn't bring themselves to stand and applaud for their fellow americans who have and are suffering. you know, moments that moved millions of americans watching to tears. >> thank you, dj. with us this evening are lincoln's beloved mother, alison and her sister lauren.
1:06 am
>> oh, i love the song. i couldn't stand, but again, they showed their true colors. and by the way, the pink. it didn't help soften their hardness. and by comparison, trump came across as more likable and relatable than ever, even calling, you know, even when he was calling them out after he mentioned his new hhs secretary. >> since 1975, rates of child cancer have increased by more than 40%. reversing this trend is one of the top priorities for our new presidential commission to make america healthy again. chaired by our new secretary of health and human services, robert f kennedy jr. with the name kennedy, you would have thought everybody over here would have been cheering how quickly they forget. >> well, but the truth is, as
1:07 am
we've said for many years, this democratic party has next to nothing in common with the party of jfk or even bill clinton. it's morphed into an amalgam of fringe ideologues and radical anti-american maniacs, and most of them truly loathe this country, which is why they insist that america is systemically racist and why they treat criminals like george floyd, like folk heroes and drag queens like cultural icons. but the good news more voters are on to their twisted game. and last night was just another nail in their political coffin. >> i look at the democrats in front of me, and i realize there is absolutely nothing i can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud. nothing i can do. >> ain't that the truth. so as liberals sat on their hands or their tepid applause and clutched their paddles, trump laid out a bold vision for an america first future with a

recap of a lot of the progress already made. >> illegal border crossings last month were by far the lowest ever recorded. the media and our friends in the democrat party kept saying we needed new legislation. we must have legislation to secure the border. but it turned out that all we really needed was a new president. >> so from slashing federal waste and cutting red tape to rebuilding our maritime industry and bringing peace to ukraine, president trump held nothing back. it was the longest speech on record of its kind, but it didn't seem that long. i kept getting pinged from friends across the country. here are a few of the messages. best trump speech ever, laura. or i could listen all night. and then, of course, how pathetic the democrats are. well, i couldn't disagree with any of that. we are watching
1:09 am
history unfold with this trump administration, ladies and gentlemen, and we will never see anyone like him again. at one point, trump even tried to extend a hand to the pouty democrats in the gallery. >> so democrats sitting before me for just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for america, for the good of our nation? let's work together and let's truly make america great again. >> now we're not holding our breath for the democrats to get involved. remember, don't forget this time last year, political experts were counting indictments and counting trump out. so no matter how much resistance he faces going forward. look, trump's presence on the hill last night, just his presence alone was itself a breathtaking achievement. and that's the angle. all right.

joining us now piers morgan, host of the piers morgan uncensored show on youtube. piers great to see you tonight. now you say that this speech cemented trump's dominance in us politics. why? >> well, laura, thanks for having me. lovely to see you. look, i think you summed it up perfectly there in your opening monologue. i mean, if donald trump could have scripted a reaction from democrats to his speech, it would have been exactly what unfurled before our eyes last night. i was watching it live here in new york, and every time i thought they couldn't plunge any lower, they plunged a little bit lower. and if you can't bring yourself to get up onto your feet and applaud a 13 year old boy who's had, i think, over a dozen brain cancer surgeries, who's come through, who survived and who has a dream. and that dream was to be a secret service agent and the president of the united states
1:11 am
in front of the world gives him that moment and makes him an honorary member of the secret service. if that doesn't move you just as a human being, putting aside politics to get up off your backside and applaud that brave little boy, i don't know what does. and the fact that democrats couldn't do that. these are the people, laura, who like to have the hashtag bekind on their social media biographies. these are the compassionate people. these are the ones who care more than anybody. but look at them last night. look at the way they treated dj daniel. look at the way they treated the family of that poor murdered girl. look at the way they behaved with their stupid signs, which meant no sense to anybody, and looked like a sixth form common room in a college. look at look at everything they did and the walkouts and all the rest of it. if you're donald trump, you are watching that back today and laughing your head off.
1:12 am
>> now, piers, the media the kind of, you know, again, never trump media. they made it worse at times last night. this was a moment on msnbc with nicole wallace. speaking of the child with cancer. watch. >> the beauty of that child is the tragedy of the trump presidency. he wants to be a cop. he knows what he wants to do. i hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer, but i hope he never has to defend the united states capitol against donald trump's supporters. and if he does, i hope he isn't one of the six who loses his life to suicide. >> piers, what was that? >> one of the most disgusting, shameful, reprehensible things i have ever seen on the news in america. and the bar was pretty high for that accolade. you know, i thought what nicole wallace did last night in taking that boy's story and in a weirdly dystopian, horrific
1:13 am
way, asking us to think about whether he might kill himself. what on earth was she thinking? why is she still in her job today? why has nobody at nbc watched that back like the rest of us, aghast in horror and said, you're fired because that was a disgusting thing to do. and she wasn't the only one at msnbc. rachel maddow, in a laughably ironic rant about don't politicize this boy's story, then politicized his story and they couldn't get their heads around it again. laura, it was the lack of humanity. i don't care if you're on the left or the right, if you're a human being. and that story doesn't just move you like a human being should be moved. there is something wrong with you. there was something wrong with those democrats who didn't get up off their backside. there's something wrong with those msnbc anchors, and it says an awful lot that they still pretend they are the caring ones, the compassionate ones.
1:14 am
>> well, what they always said about trump, piers, and you were around to hear this is that he was lacking humanity. donald trump has no humanity. how many times do we hear that he has no compassion, he has no feeling. and look, you've known him for so long. i've known him for decades. and like i always knew that was false. but when you saw him in the oval office today with that young boy and, you know, you saw him at butler after butler. i mean, he obviously has enormous compassion for the country, so much so that he put himself through running again despite what he knew it would do to him. yeah. and so they're the ones who are inhumane and breaking protocol. >> no question. i love that scene in the oval office. i love that little boy getting his moment with the president of the united states. it was a moment of real humanity. but there's a bigger picture here for the democrats, which is they clearly have absolutely no idea what they're doing as a party now or how to take on donald trump. mark two. i spoke to president trump last week on the phone for quite a long

chat, and he was in the most confident mood and relaxed mood and most focused mood that i've known him for many, many years. this is a man who i believe has had a second shot at two things one, his life where he literally took a bullet, grazed his ear and miraculously survived. i think he feels he's got a do over on his life, and i also think he's got a do over in his mind on the presidency. and he's learned the lessons from the first term that he served, of the things he got right, the things he got wrong, and he's hit the ground. i mean, you say hit the ground running. this guy has hit the ground like a hurricane this time around. and it is thrilling. it is it is exciting. it is like nothing we've ever seen before. he's not going to get it all right. but certainly at the moment, the rest of the world, i can tell you back in the uk, the rest of the world is watching this with a sense of awe, like, my god, the dynamism that is happening in america, right? >> well, piers, that's a good point. it's hard to get
