well. curriculum, what your children are being taught in the clas room is up to the states and the governor could stop that. contact your legislators or governor if you are not happy with something being taught in the classroom. that is not up to the federal government. >> lawrence: i do like the scholarship idea. schools get funding per pupil, if you don't have enough at scale, a failing school could lose funding. say i'm in a left rejects school choice and they don't get that legislation passed. someone locally can get a scholarship to go to a private school or charter school and you say get 50 kids to leave that school, that failing school would get shut down and bring more options for the state to be compliant. i like the innovative nature of this. i think there will be a lot of resistance.

education for state of connecticut. here is what she said in the interview. >> ainsley: if you give money back to the states, how will you determine what they are teaching kr curriculum? >> department of education does not set curriculum, they do research, we oversee programs, make sure funds get into states by statutes. >> ainsley: do we need this department? >> no. we don't. when i talk to teachers who tell me out of every dollar that comes into the clas room, they spend 47 cents complying with regulations, i want and the president wants to release teachers to be innovative in the clas room and teach. there is no one size fits all for education and those teachers feeling that energy everyday, knowing what this group of kids can do better, let them do what

they do. >> lawrence: i don't say this as a knock on etch tooers, there are a lot of teachers that do a great job and use their own money. one thing we hear is that if a kid is comes from a broken or disadvantaged home or background they can't learn, there is trouble there. we have seen those same kids from disadvantaged homes, broken families go to charter schools and are getting full-ride scholarships to four-year colleges. grade levels have gone up, they can do math now. something has to change in the system and maybe the teachers aren't given tools to be successful, we can't continue to have national report cards where kids can't read. >> brian: one excerpt says this, note what federal funs

20 times to sing to our troops and to encourage them and support them. have you ever been more proud to serve our country now under donald trump? >> never. i'm as proud -- i used to tell people and i still do, i never joined the army for a president. you join the army to serve your country. eddie service member will tell you that. it is nice to know that you have a president of the united states that truly cares about them men and women serving. our secretary of defense truly cares about those men and women. these are people, our interest is first and foremost. >> straightaway, your music from the original country, you kind of double down. that is risky. why? >> it is who i am. i'm the same people that i sing for, to and about. i tell somebody i still take my trash out. my wife waits until i get home. my truck bed is full when i get home. i have to do the same things everybody else does, and i still do. that will never change. whether i'm singing or soldiering or whatever it is of doing. >> he played last night, touring with blake shelton.
