10:00 am
>> harris: okay, here you go. fox business pure 4:00 p.m. eastern. elon musk will be joining our friend of the show larry kudlow for an exclusive interview. don't miss that. or this. "america reports."
10:01 am
>> john: harris, thank you. dow jones taking a swan dive today, tumbling into negative territory. the drop comes as tariff tears are igniting early fears of a red sash and pier taking a dip, lowest level since september. >> and were also following this. live look in just a moment at the u.s. district court in alexandria, virginia, where an alleged mastermind behind the deadly 2021 kabul airport bombing is set to appear before a judge. you will remember 13 u.s. service members and about 160 civilians were killed on that day. the justice department says a man they have in custody has admitted to planning the bombers ran to the airport so as soon as we have eyes on him, will take you there live. >> john: but here's where we begin this monday afternoon. major crackdown on anti-semitism.
10:02 am
i.c.e. agents arresting a palestinian activist who helped lead anti-israel protest that plunge the campus into chaos. i'm john roberts in washington. >> i'm so lucky to be out of there for maybe a day. i will take it. i am in washington. sandra smith has the day off. trump administration says jewish students deserve to feel safe, and the president has pledged that they will be revoking visas and green cards up, supporters so they can be deported. >> john: one says the punishment fits the crime. listen here. >> this is someone who has been the engine behind so much of the violence we've seen on campus, so no one is telling students like him they cannot peacefully protest or even say things that we disagree with, but what's happening is violence. it is harassment. trespassing. we are not talking about but
10:03 am
crimes. >> john: alexis mcadams has been covering these protests for months. live at columbia university. alexis. >> that's right. some festivities today. not really students. this all comes as mahmoud khalil is no longer walking around this campus with a megaphone yelling "free palestine." because he is behind bars after i.c.e. agents revoked his visa and said he was aligning with thomas. take a look. this is some video from last week standing steps away from where i am right now spotted at a protest at barnard college. you can see him on your screen. same protest where these pamphlets were handed out on campus claiming to be from the hamas media office, calling the october 7th attack a "moral victory."
10:04 am
these photos of terror leaders handed out to students last week and stuck on windows near campus. imagine seeing that as your parents are paying a $100,000 a pop to go here. khalil has been a part of dozens of pro-palestinian attacks, demanding that the school divest from israel. watch. >> we know that global students on u.s. colleges and in the u u.s., they have the right, the freedom of expression. >> police say this was not freedom of expression. they damaged properties for weeks. sounding the alarm, posting a flyer, saying khalil was abducted. i.c.e. agents revoked his green card and student visa and took him away. protesters better pay attention to this. >> a student visa is a privilege. it is not a right. it is a privilege. and it can be revoked.
10:05 am
>> so the student protesters now see the trump administration isn't messing around. they pulled the funding from the ivy league school, but we have these people that are protesting today. we are going to see what hap happens. nypd is on high alert as khalil is waiting to go in front of a judge. >> john: we will follow all the action throughout the day. let's bring in paul mauro to fox news. so the detention of mahmoud khalil, his attorney says you cannot do this. he's a green card holder, but there are provisions under which somebody was a permanent resident in this country can lose that permanent residency and be deported. >> yeah, the president has very, very strong powers in this area and in fact during trump one, this went all the way to scotus, relative to the so-called muslim travel ban. was not a love travel ban, but
10:06 am
nonetheless they took that all the way to the top and won. roberts rode the opinion. there is precedent for this. irrespective of the visa issue which can be revoked, green card status can be revoked for quote, unquote, security reasons. that is at the discretion of the president. so he's got an uphill battle here but the larger issue really is the fault of the school. the school has empowered these people. they have lost their first principle, which is to prepare students for a life in our society. they've decided to allow this. they did not prosecute last year when it got even worse, and you see the results. >> john: interesting the way he was detained and apparently moved around. khalil's attorney filed a writ of habeas corpus right away because she did not even know where he was being held in detention. turned out he was at the detention facility in louisiana. what's your expectation of what happens next, paul?
10:07 am
will there be an expedited deportation proceeding? >> i am sure they will press for that, but he's got this attorney. i'm sure there's going to be some back and forth. even if it takes some time, the trump administration has good legal grounding. i think this is a shot across the bow for all of the schools. the left melted down when he revoked them from columbia university's endowment, but columbia university endowment has its own independent endowment of almost $16 billion. they have more money than they need y you and why are we subsidizing $400 million worth two important students who are calling for the death of western civilization? realistically america is subsidizing the suicide of its own society. >> john: yeah. here's what khalil's attorney said. "it follows the u.s. government open repression of political
10:08 am
speech targeting students at columbia for criticism of israel's assault on gaza. u.s. government has made clear they will use immigration enforcement as a tool to depress that speech." and support of president trump's executive orders prohibiting anti-semitism and in coordination with the department of state, u.s. immigrations and customs enforcement arrested will not khalil, committed to enforcing president trump's executive orders and protecting u.s. national security. the idea that he was giving -- i am not going to say he ate a comfort to a terrorist organization, hamas, does that throw this to a different level than your normal immigration case might? >> undeniably. they also invoked hezbollah as well, and as i referenced earlier, under the green card
10:09 am
rule, security is grounds for revocation. i am invoking those two groups as well as the violence on campus, and the espousing of the destruction of western civilization, this takes the entire thing well out of the realm of a first amendment to the fence. they know this. they know that there is a distinction between the first amendment and i kind that they're doing, but they keep going because columbia university and other schools like it allow it. >> john: they continue to, except for when they pulled the fire alarm because there has been a bomb threat. thank you. it will be interesting to watch how the khalil case unfolds because they were not too many cases where someone has been a permanent resident of this country, has the revoked, and then gets supported. >> they have to send a message. they have to try to make an example to tell these kids we are going to take this very seriously. you cannot keep behaving this way, especially if the universities don't do anything
10:10 am
about it. >> john: they are occupying private property. trespassing at the very least along with potentially giving support and comfort to a terrorist organization. the two absolutely. all right, still to come, investigators in the dominican republic interrogating a man who was spotted with a university of pittsburgh student shortly before she went missing. what he told police about their early morning swim. >> does not concern you? >> not at all. >> why not? >> we are stronger than all of them. >> john: plus, warships swarming the gulf of oman today. alex gray is here to break down what all this posturing mighth? what all this posturing mighth? mean . lets you take out an average of $70,000 to pay off your car loan pay off your credit cards and pay yourself cash. >> aishah: welcome back. it's 1:14. we are taking a lift look at the doubt. the numbers are tanking on fear of a recession and trade work. ashley webster is live with more on what you are looking at out there, ashley. >> one thing that the markets really hate is uncertainty. they want certainty. good or bad. but right now they are not sure what to think. you are right. they are concerned about the state of the u.s. economy which is being wrapped into this trade work, the togs of tariffs with mexico and canada and talk of even bigger tariffs and retaliation. all of that not doing a whole lot for investor sentiment. it is now continuing on. don't forget about president trump telling fox news over the weekend that he could not rule out the dreaded r word, recession," or as he put it,

economy in transition. could feel more pain before we come out the other side. investors don't like the sound of that, so they are pushing the sell button today. we will have some economic data later on in the week, we will be getting a measurement of inflation with the cpi. if that comes in better than expected, that will go a long way to calm these nerves, but if you don't have certainty, the tendency on wall street it to sell off, so we are seeing the big magnificent seven as they are known on the nasdaq, apple and amazon and nvidia, the stocks getting especially hard hit. really a case of sentiment building on sentiment. people look. we have algorithms on computers these days. when numbers hit a certain number, they will go ahead and automatically sell, so one headline, if the president comes out and says we found an agreement with both canada and

"certainty." back to you. >> aishah: sometimes it just takes a 52nd sound bite from the president to turn things around. what do you advise folks that are nearing retirement, watching this, shaking their head, thinking what am i going to do? >> yeah, as always, in any situation, don't panic. don't push that button. hang on. things will turn around. no one knows for sure, but in the short term, if you sell off now, you may regret it down the road. let it play out. there are those who believe this will get sorted out. it cannot go on forever. we will become friends again

reset button. russia has been dominating the headlines the last couple of weeks, but we are also seeing what has been happening with the iranian regime and whether there could possibly be a change. the u.s. has been critical about where things stand with iran going back the last 20 years. you remember it was back in the first trump term that he ended a deal made during the obama administration. now he is considering a new deal, at least floating the possibility of such. mission to the united nations posting up in court if the objective of negotiations is to address concerns vis-a-vis any potential militarization of iran's nuclear discussion, may be open to consideration, but if it is for dismantling the peaceful program, that is never going to take place." the white house says it is eager to reach a deal. this has republicans won iran's nuclear goals should be

10:22 am
him? who is making decisions? was it being used on really critical national security documents? the broader point is joe biden had three years to avenge the deaths of americans who were serving their country in afghanistan. he did not do it, and it took donald trump a month. i think that's a testament to that type of people he is put in charge of our intelligence community and his commitment to actually keeping america safe and deter future attacks by overwhelming strength when that is what is required. >> john: passed 50 daisies change the protocols when it comes to fighting terrorism all around the world. sebastian gorka, said the following. "we undid her go use of the insanity of the joystick." here's how you lie like the free press described the changes. loosen the rules for hunting terrorists. the old protocol that national security advisor had to sign off on every strike.

now the authority to approve these sets lower down the chain of command, so that's going after terrorists around the world, but in terms of getting this mohammad sharifullah guy, there was a lot of cooperation with pakistan, who were not exactly willing to operate, so what has changed? >> i think they understand when there's new leadership there is a potential for a president who might actually hold them accountable if they don't go along with their interests and what obviously needs to have been this instance. he is 100% right. this plays out in all sorts of things. we remember under obama and biden, the white house was literally dictating drone strikes to commanders in the field in afghanistan. that is partially how we ended up with so many of these overseas messes. donald trump is empowering the professionals to go about their mission, you take bad guys off the battlefield, to keep us safe, and we are already seeing results on monday end.

protests and iran, had the iranian economy on the brink of collapse, to joe biden, so we have gone entirely in the wrong direction, and i think what donald trump is doing, what his staff are doing, trying to put back on the table a realistic policy that sends the signal to iran we will deter you, use whatever force is necessary to prevent this unacceptable outcome in the middle east. >> john: made it clear that any new detail had to include ballistic missiles. ayatollah so far has said no, thank you, but we will see. maximum pressure has a way of convincing people. good to see you. thank you. just then, los angeles district attorney making eight if an announcement in the menendez case. well we now know about the future of the notorious brothers. >> aishah: plus rfk jr. says processed food is poisoning you at home.

resentencing because we believe there are legitimate reasons in the interest of justice justifies that withdrawal. >> aishah: okay, so that is the los angeles county district attorney just moments ago with a major update in the lisle and erik menendez murder case. william la jeunesse is here now with the latest on that. hi, william here. >> you know, erik and lyle menendez have been serving life sentences without parole for the shotgun killing of their parents beckon 1989. attempting three different tracks to secure their freedom. one of those was a new trial. the l.a. d.a. already says he opposes that, saying that the claim they were sexuall sexually abused -- they kill their parents because of sexual abuse by their father while their mother watched was unsubstantiated. the second one, this is what he was talking about, this petition resentencing. the previous d.a. said he favored that.
10:32 am
today hochman said he will go along with that but wanted to withdraw the one that was initiated by his office, but he feels comfortable with the one initiated by the court. sounds kind of crazy, but the point is he's basically saying number one, are they still are risk to the public? have they been rehabilitated? most important, have they accepted responsibility for their actions? the news conference is still going on right now, but it sounds like the new d.a. is going to oppose their release at this resentencing. finally there is a third thing out there, third option, potentially the most realistic for the two brothers. the governor is considering clemency. governor newsom reported the state parole department to do a comprehensive review of their case, finding out if they are indeed an unreasonable risk to the public. he said he wanted to let this play out in the courts before he makes a decision, so as it stands right now, the short of

it is it sounds like they are going to get this resentencing hearing but also sounds like the d.a. who has a lot of clout here is going to oppose that with the judge appeared to be too all right, william. >> john: stocks in the united states tumbling after president trump failed to rule out a recession. let's bring in steve moore and robert wolf. so here is what the president said with maria. listen here. >> are you expecting a recession this year? >> i hate to predict things like that. there is a period of transition because what we're doing is very big. we are bringing wealth back to america. that's a big thing. and there are always periods of -- it takes a little time. it takes a little time. but i think it should be great for us. >> john: he did not pitch posh
10:34 am
the idea of a recession. if it happens on his watch this year after all of the grand economic promises he made, i take it that would not be a good thing. >> looking at those stock market numbers right now, they are pretty bad. this is a big sell-off. here's what i would say, john. i think 80 to 90% of what trump wants to do on the economy is very positive. i think that doge efficiency efforts are great. i think reducing the tax rates, making tax cuts permanent are fantastic. i like the idea of deregulating the economy. the problem i see is that trump has sort of lead with this whole tariff barrage and i think it is very unsettling to the markets. the one thing trump is doing that is probably not, especially in the short-term, healthy for the economy. if i were president trump and the white house, i would kind of shift and move back to the kinds of things that will really help
10:35 am
the economy grow in both the short and long-term. >> john: that's what the big board up so that the folks at home can see. we are down more than 700 points, losing a lot of the value built up since trump became president. you can try to turn the supertanker around, but if you run it into the rocks while you are doing that, that would seem to meet to be a problem. >> john, if that's what the biden administration, my pal steve would be using the terms "chaotic, unreliable, unreliable, wishy-washy, uncertain, volatile." listen, we were all nervous at year and on inflation. none of us was really nervous about a recession. we sought with the possibility of trump tax cuts, we thought with oil coming down, regulation going down, we actually thought they would be probably long-term inflation. somewhat inflationary. we were not for across-the-board
10:36 am
tariffs. using it more as a blunt instrument, do it on steel, tires. this is an unforced error. no reason that a lot of economists are talking about a recession now. and they are because trade w war's, you know, we are starting to lose jobs specifically in the government sector. we have the atlanta fed bring down gdp to negative. and that concern if steve and i are part right and president trump as part right, we will be talking about stagflation, and that is all bad. i am hoping that they listen to steve and i can't ever reverse this trend of trade war's and 25% and putting it back and putting it on. now you have canada not backing off. china not backing out. this is an incredibly unforced error of. >> john: in terms of the trade war, where do we go from here? incoming new prime minister,

tax cut made permanent, i like the idea of that 15% reduction in rate i think that would be a big stimulus to the economy. a couple days ago, trump said we may need some short-term pain for long-term gain. the problem is the economy is in some trouble right now. robert is right. you do not want to impose short-term pain. you want to do things that will stimulate the economy like deregulation and tax cuts. >> john: what about focus on china, don't focus on our records? >> you and i and sandra, when usmca came forward, that was one of the biggest things i was supportive of any trump administration. the idea that we are going back on something he applauded as one of his biggest signature policies makes no sense, so i'm with steve. focus on china. focus on our adversaries. get north american trade going back and forth, and if there's

bill to protect women, suburban women, that was defending the indefensible, so until they vote on the side of fairness and common sense, it will be hard for them to unring this belt. >> i want to pull up this poll that shows you where americans are at. the question is do you think transgender athletes should or should not be allowed to compete and women sports? across-the-board, republican, 94%, but democrats, independents. this should be enough. why wouldn't they just follow the pulling, joe? >> it is one thing if you see republicans, but two-thirds of democrats also think biological men should not be competing against biological women in sports. it would be like being for steroids in sports, saying no, it's good that one athlete has a chemical or biological advantage over another athlete. of course no one believes in that.
10:48 am
same thing we are seeing with all these different sports allowing men to compete against women. even at the joint session to congress last week, president trump honors a young girl who was hit in the head so hard, she is suffering to this with brain trauma and democrats could not even stand and applaud her for enduring what she had to go through and then voted against the very bill that would have protected her. this is definitely being on the wrong side when it is cultural and goes across party lines. >> aishah: some democrats are trying to take a page out of president trump's camp and playbook shifting their messaging to podcast, trying to reach the young male audience. we have seen it with josh shapiro who has been on as an analyst for a pittsburgh basketball game. what do you make of this? they do lack, right, in young male voters.
10:49 am
is this going to work? >> well, welcome to the party, pal. this was a key factor in 2024 campaign. donald trump goes on joe grogan. kamala harris decides not to. cnn and msnbc, that is not the way to do it. this is the new strategy. a little late to the game but better late than never. >> aishah: or playing "madden" on twitch. >> i have seen your game. get out there. >> aishah: i don't have game. i don't know what you're talking about. always good to see you. have a great week. >> john: better than saying she runs a mean pick six. washington, d.c., clearing out its controversial black lives matter plaza. how president trump is leaning on the mayor to what he says the nation's capital has become. >> everybody has feelings, so

you're physically hurt, but you're not thinking of me, right? >> desperate to clear her name after hitting another student athlete with a relay baton. when each side is saying, next.

>> aishah: well, wall street does not like uncertainty. that is what we are seeing a live right now over on wall street. the markets are tanking right now. u.s. tech stock is also plunging, so we will see if president biden, the white house will address this on this monday after he did not really saying anything about the pushback on concerns that there might be a recession. john. >> john: did you say "president biden?" >> aishah: president trump. biden is on my mind appeared to be one investors said we cannot do that. now it is back above 42,000. kind of the psychological mark. washington, d.c., city workers tearing up black lives matter plaza permanently removing the massive blm street mural that was painted outside on the street just north of the white house. griff jenkins is on the plaza now which is north of h street.
10:55 am
just north of lafayette square. about 300, 400 yards away. what do you see out there right now? >> yeah, we are just steps from the white house. just for a second, you can see remembers st. john's church, the center of the riots and protests, the blm, summer of 2020. obviously this here is where they erected this black lives matter plaza, but as you mentioned, it is not just being painted over. it is being torn up. we just watched hours of a jackhammer tearing up some -- they have lights on them. this is where the word "matter" was. "lives." so these crews are out here actually tearing up them to begin tearing the entire street up.
10:56 am
it is going to take days to do this because of the amount of work, but they are ultimately going to return this entire 16th street back to just a paved road. nothing painted in here peering up black lives matter. just the way i was before the mural. it comes as we are seeing d.c. also clearing out those homeless encampments. and of course the effort to bring the federal workers back to work as well. cracking down on crime. all part of what president trump calls making d.c. great again. send it back to you. >> john: formerly named black blacklives matter plaza. >> aishah: terror suspects facing charges and the deadly bombing at abbey gate will appear in a u.s. court room for first attention hearing. ahead with your reaction to thak as he faces american justice. ers .
