great but the government is trying to dump too much stuff on you at once, it is time to stand up. come on, follow me. this is a rehearsal, right? we're not really on the air? ok, good. hello, americament i have always wanted to be a community organizer, yes, because i love communities and i love being organized. they are in such disarray! here is the one thing tonight, the community organizer in chief is transforming america but nobody is really noticing, and i think it's because they don't know what they're looking for. i want to show you a picture here. can you bring this picture up? i want you to look at this picture and then tell me what is changing in this picture. this is from the university of south dakota department of psychology, their website. this is a test based on a scientific theory called change blindness.

it is a theory that i think might help explain what's happening in our country right now. actually, i found this picture on this website. i was doing research this weekend and brought it down to about ten different people at my house, and oh, yeah, i'm usually on psychology websites. i do a lot of self-checking. anyway, in visual perception, "change blindness" occurs when a person is viewing a visual scene and fails to detect large changes in that scene because there is a lot of things going on in the scene. you see it? do you know what it is yet? show the other picture, please. now could you just do me a favor and highlight the change what's missing. underneath that wing -- show me the first picture again. underneath that wing was a giant jet engine. it was flashing before your eyes, and only about two out of ten people in my house got it. once you know what it is, it is so unbelievably obvious that you -- i mean, can you

put it back on the screen, the two going back and forth again. try to look at these pictures going back and forth, and there is no way you can't see the engine missing. well, this is what is happening in america. all right, the system is being overwhelmed. we are rushing massive programs and policies at an astounding rate, and we're failing to see, because we're looking at all the other things happening in that scene, we're failing to see the engine being removed from the plane, because obama is using something called, honest to god, "change blindness." he's doing all of this, even though he said this in 2004 -- >> you rush these budgets that are a foot high, and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them. >> 14 pounds it was. >> yeah, and it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate and then these kinds of things happen. i think this is what happened

in the patriot act. you are remember there was no real debate about that. its was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration. >> people felt intimidated. wow. that sounds familiar, but now in 2009, it's totally cool to jam through $787 billion stimulus bill, a massive expansion of children's healthcare, a cap and trade trade bill, and, oh, yeah, an entire overhaul of the healthcare industry all in six months, all while the president is filling america's seams with 1,000 bills and czars who are house communists and john conyers who had the audacity to say this with a straight face. >> i love these members who get up and say "read the bill." what good is reading the bill

if it's 1,000 pages and you don't have a two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill? glenn: so it's logical to him then to say, oh, the logical thing to do is just sign away. instead of saying no, i can't do it in two days, you're going to have to wait. the world is upside-down. they're taking the engine off our airplane. now, we see things like this and we rightfully so become outraged, and, you know, i know it's crazy to ask, you know, our elected officials to read bills before they vote on them, or actually listen to us and not continually assault us, and so we call them up and nothing happens. i think that's what they want us to focus on, because while we're complaining an on the phone yelling at somebody at their staff, the p millions the government spends on turtles for bridges for turtles or toilet restorations

like we told you yesterday, america's picture is being transformed and we're not noticing it. none of the small stuff is as important as the fundamental changes being made to how our country works, even the healthcare bill. this healthcare bill, in any form, must not pass, because this is about structure. they are taking the bolts off of that engine. they just need to open it a crack and they will go inside. healthcare, has anybody asked who is behind the healthcare bill? let me ask you this -- has anyone said, gee, these are so complex, there are 1,300 pages, each of them. they have 10,000 pages that have been produced in the last six months, gigantic complex bills. who did this? who wrote that? who knows it? who is behind the healthcare bill? let me ask you a question -- if a doctor said hey, i've got

medicine for you, i've got medicine for your grandma, you would say great, medicine, that's great! wouldn't you like to know who the doctor is who is prescribing the medicine? is the dr. doctor dr. huxtable or dr. kevorkian? it makes a difference on who is prescribing the drug. just ask michael jackson. this isn't about a slight change of pink color. this is about an engine completely disappearing, america's engine. it is being completely removed right before our eyes. america, we once had this crazy concept of elected officials doing things for the people, but now it seems our elected officials busy doing things to the people for the people who are really the powerful ones, the unions, seiu, community organizations like acorn.

think the meetings went like the town hall meetings where all the questions are staged and he is just, you know, laying out his plan for everybody? or is he actually meeting in the white house? is he meeting with the average people in the white house? who is in charge of this? i'm just asking america, will you start to ask the officials the tough questions and hold their feet to the fire? the tough question is who is actually running this country? is it the all-knowing messiah, barack obama, or is he just handing things over to special interest groups like seiu and acorn, pushing their agenda? by the way, those two organizations are inseparable. i want to make this warning to you. once you see the pictures of the plane and once i pointed out that the engine was missing, you couldn't see it any other way. let me tell you something -- once you see the picture of what they're really doing, you

will not be able to see it any other way. you won't believe that you have been looking at this picture for so long and completely missed something so huge. i warn you of this, because if you're anything like me, you will have many, many sleepless nights wondering how everyone else has changed blindness and just can't see it. my first guest tonight had a chance to sit down with the one and only wade rathke. he sat down with a 1:00 on-1:00 exclusive with acorn's founder who is also the chief organizer for sei iewvment local 100. kyle, how are you, sir? >> good. you sat down with wade rathke who is not really a fan of this program, i hear. >> that's what i hear. glenn: you sat down with him. >> i did. glenn: what did you guys talk about? >> well, i started out asking about his book. i figured there's no sense in asking any hardball questions

because he owes nothing to me. then we worked into healthcare. glenn: what did he say about healthcare? i mean, because seiu is instrumental in designing it. he is a chief organizer. >> right. glenn: he has a part of this. >> right. glenn: tell me about the healthcare thing. >> i asked him -- i asked for his assessment of what the president and the congress are doing, and what more could they do to get this passed, and he said the president needs to stand up taller and he needs to get this done, but then he talked about seiu, so that was the natural segue into well, what is seiu doing? and he talked about how they are working in 15 states. they have 14 people alone in louisiana, and because he talked about their senator there, mary landrieu, and he called her a mushy democrat, and we really need to work on her. glenn: "we need to work on her."

can you tell me about what he said about healthcare with hcan. do we have the video of him talking about hcan? can we play it? the seiu has operations in 15 states with hcan which helps acorn. they are still up to their eyebrows. glenn: this is something new, because they deny it. in fact, we had something from baton rouge, recently, and they were wearing these t-shirts and they said -- we called, and it was "organize organizing for america," a barack obama organizing trick, and how is it for acorn or sei

u or "organizing for america," are they connected? >> acorn is part of hcan and another coalition called healthcare quality project which is run by seiu. one of their staffpeople actually runs this, and -- 0 glenn: you were saying -- is there any evidence that they are connected to "organizers of america"? >> yes, they were holding town hall meetings all over the country. you talked about one in baton rouge. there was one, i believe july 18 in boston. it was hosted by organizing for america and hcan. glenn: see, this is the thing that amazes me. they are taking these organizations, and you when one gets a bad name, they just invent a new organization, staffed by the same people, right?

>> right. glenn: that way the administration can say no, acorn is not involved at all, they're not going to do the census, but it's the same people, different name. >> right. legally speaking, there is probably no connection between acorn and organizing for america, but there is clearly a connection between hcan and organizing for america. glenn: you also spoke to him about overwhelming the system. here's what he had to say. >> what everybody can do is make sure that other people in the community, their friends, their neighbors people in their union, the people who they go to church with actually are getting all the legal benefits they're qualified to get. everything we do is with computers, so why can't we automatically let people know what they deserve. glenn: what is this? >> he is talking about overthrowing the system, overwhelming the system basically. in his new book "citizen wealth" he talks about calling

for troops in the 21st century war on poverty. glenn: wait a minute. what does he mean by "troops"? is this the idea that obama is talking about -- does he mention americorps? in there? >> he mentions americorps. he mentions church groups. he mentions community groups, which i am guessing is acorn. glenn: church groups, i'm guessing it is your grandma's church or jeremiah wright's church, i'm not sure. does he refer to it as an army or troops in the book? >> he refers to them as troops an soldiers. glenn: america, here is what i want you to understand. when you're talking about overwhelming the system, ask yourself, are you overwhelmed right now with what is going on? is john conyers overwhelmed with what is going on when he says "what difference does it make? i can't read it in two days, so why don't i just sign it?" isn't that a a sign that the system is overwhelmed and doesn't work? well, why would you want to

overwhelm the system? why would wade rathke say hey, there's a lot of benefits out here, and we just got to get everybody onboard for these benefits? why would you do that? it is called the chow ard and piven strategy. it is the cloward and piven strategy. this is important you understand what it is. here it is in a nutshell. >> the cloward and piven strategy, richard cloward and frances piven advance their strategy to end poverty in a may 2, 1966 article. chow ard piven starts with the idea that there is a wide gap between the entitlements that poor people are eligible for, and the entitlements that they are actually collecting. they say getting everybody on to the welfare rolls will wipe out poverty, and the only way to accomplish that is through a massive multi-city education campaign making heavy use of the media. so once aboard, let them know

that they are elibigle and start to sign up, what happens next? in their own words, quote, a crisis, end quote. a crisis that starts in the cities that would rapidly spread to a nationwide level, and force the government to move quickly to create a new program for direct income distribution, marxism. wait a minute. community organizations overwhelming the system that would lead to a massive redistribution of wealth. gee, where have i heard that before? that's cloward-piven strategy in a nutshell. glenn: america, i am absolutely convinced that this president, and i don't know why more people -- maybe because i'm wrong -- and i mean this sincerely, i pray to god that i am, but i can't imagine why other journalists and other people are not seeing this yet. that's why i was looking up that "change blindness" this

glenn: coming up in just a little while, i told you last night i would tell you the beginning steps of things we can do and i need to ask for your help, because this system is a little overwhelmed, but i figure between the radio show and the television show, we got about 10 million people every day to tune in and watch and listen, and i'm going to ask for you to be a part of our staff. i'll explain coming up. now, h1n1, swine flu, growing pandemic, hardly anybody is talking about it anymore, so why am i? let me refresh your memory. back in early may, late april, a representative said it was 1/3 of the stories but since may 11 it hasn't been in the top five once. it's bothering me because they say it's getting worse and worse, and yet nobody is paying attention. why shouldn't the media take its eyes off a flu pandemic?

the great influenza in a nutshell. the deadly pandemic started two to three years early than 1918n january 1916, epidemic influenza hit 22 states, but it was described as a mild illness. by december 1917, the disease, still mild, spread throughout camp kearney, california and other army camps. 115,000 people died. through mid spring and early summer, the mild epidemic went through western europe, china, india, and the philippine islands and it struck spain and the west indees. in early march, the epidemic resembled the typical flu, affecting the sick and elderly and healthier people recovered easily. in august, when the second

wave began in france, sierra lee i don't know, and the united states, the virus mutated into a deadlier form. when the pandemic ended in 1920, up to 100 million people had died worldwide, and another 400 million people had gotten sick t has been called the greatest medical holocaust in history, comparable to the black death, and that's the great influenza in a nutshell. here's why i'm talking about this. first of all, i notice in the paper they are not tracking it at the w.h.o. anymore and i thought that's weird. it is either really good or really bad. the second thing is the doctor will say should i test for swine flu and he will say no, don't worry about t the third thing, have you meardz about chickenpox parties? where you get your kids together the history of the influenza in 1918, i have

considered a chickenpox party. do you have the swine flu, could you cough on me? our government has the first 20 million of 200 million doses of the vaccine against this pandemic swine flu and should be ready to start immunizations in october, but do you get them? experts agree that you are likely to get two doses to get full immunity. because so few people have been exposed to this cyrus over the years, so, in other words, the u.s. needs 600 million doses and there isn't a chance we're getting. that john barry, author of "the great enflew enza" a fantastic book on the deadliest plague in history, it is a fantastic book. john, i appreciate everything you are doing on this particular flu. a couple of questions for you. this is massive. the w.h.o. is saying it is spreading like wildfire and getting worse and worse and worse. as far as a pandemic, but has it mutated yet? is it getting more virulent? >> first, good to see you

again. glenn: good to see you. >> at this point, it still has about the same virulence as seasonal flu. glenn: ok. >> and we are monitoring it. the scientists are looking at the molecular biology constantly. the reason they stopped the case counts was because it burdens the laboratories and it really doesn't tell us that much. we already know it's all over the world. glenn: i'm dmadz to hear that. -- i'm glad to hear that. i know you wouldn't say, and i wouldn't either. i'm just asking for personal choice. if i had a choice of somebody who had the swine flu today, because i read your book, because i know the history of 1918, if i had a choice and somebody had the swine flu, i would have them cough on me and take my choices to get it now so you i would hope i could be immune from it if this thing ever changes s that wise, stupid? how do you feel about that? >> it's actually a pretty tough call.

you know, this is no reason now to think that this virus is going to become virulent the way the 1918 virus did, but there is no way of making a prediction. you know, if it were to remain the way it is right now, then there would be no reason to do that. i mean, the reality is you could get sick and with a very mild case, but you don't know who you are going to expose. you might be standing in line next to a pregnant women and pregnant women are, in fact, fairly vulnerable. glenn: let me ask you this, because i'm out of town now, but somebody told me tamiflu may in the next mutation of this, that it may be resistant to tamiflu. is that true? >> well, i mean it's possible, but there are only four cases, individual cases in the world that have noticed, you know, so far that have shown resistance, but it is quite

glenn: here he is to save the day ♪ hello, america, tonight's hot list. these are the common sense solutions to the stories the mainstream media is dropping the ball on. here in new york city, of all places, michael bloomberg, the mayor of this great town shows a glimmer of common sense "the new york times" reports the city program where the bloomberg administration is getting up and saying we're going to fight homelessness! they're going to start giving the homeless one-way tickets out of town. the times reports now, instead of putting families up in expensive shelter systems that cost $36,000 a year just to house a family, the city is going to pay for families to go live with a relative in some other place, or maybe even another country. it doesn't have to be another city. another country, too. hey, maybe we could have them sneak across the border in the middle of the night and take the jobs that the canadians just won't do!

new york is paying for more than 550 families to leave the city since 2007. if they pay me to leave the city, i will consider t how much? $3? i'll take it! i guess it is like the old song says "if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere." but i guess if you can't make it in new york, get the hell out! wait a minute. i just thought of something. if they have a relative in another city who can't afford to front them the bus fare to get there, instead the relative is like, sorry, jack, i can't afford the bus fare, you have to live on the streets, how are these people going to afford having them live in their house? see, here is where the story lost me. "the new york times" reports that in rare cases, bloomberg and the city will advance the family up to four month's rent, a one-month security allowance and a broker's fee.

mr. mayor, let me just say, usually government is just busy trying to fix problems, you know, that they created themselves, but you have given me a really good idea. with the recession on, president obama has come out and say, hey, hey, let's not go to cities like las vegas and or orlando, that's crazy. nothing but a bunch of hookers there! so now they they are have empty hotel rooms there and cities are collapsing because you have told everybody they can't go. why don't we send the homeless people from new york to vegas or or orlando? nevada has a huge foreclosure crisis. they got a bunch of empty houses. why can't they just live in the big empty houses? wait a minute. michael bloomberg hates guns but nevada has a concealed carry law. mr. mayor, hear me out here, i'm just thinking outloud. why don't we take all the guns you hate so much that are in new york city, arm the homeless, and send them to nevada? another problem solved! here to save the day ♪

and another possible sick try for common sense. the wall street journal reports, and this is a report that we vice haven't independeny confirmed yet -- the government today announced it has discovered paper has two sides. the discovery is going to heed the government now to print on both sides of the paper. apparently somehow or another magically that's going to save us money. this is, of course, part of the $100 million savings challenge. three months ago, the president ordered his cabinet, now find $100 million in budget cuts for the current fiscal year! they came back with $102 million in budget cuts. that is, to put this into perspective, .006% of the federal budget, but they're in

there pitching for you. some other ideas besides paper, the air force has suggested replacing jet fuel with commercial aviation fuel with additives saving nearly $52 million next year. a division of the treasury department identified unused phone lines that were costing them $320,000. how many phones are you not using? homeland security could save $300,000 just by e-mailing documents instead of printing them out on only one side. and homeland security and the national highway traffic safety administration say they're going to start getting their news on-line for free, rather than renewing all those newspaper subscriptions. that sounds like that might cause another problem. that is not going to help the newspaper industry, but it will help the trees, which help the environment. now i'm lost. now i don't know what to do. critics say the reductions are minimal at best.

they show how behind the government really is, and when i say behind, i mean behind the times. i wonder request we weren't doing these things before. oh, i remember now. because they're all dopes in washington! now a story that sent was sent to me by representative jason chavitz, a representative from utah. we are already spending the money we just found. yeah, we aren't going to save that money. please! this is free money! well, two bills have passed in the house yesterday, and they will spend millions to protect your favor its animal, my favorite animal, come on, let's say it together -- question, the turtle, and the otters, the marine turtle conservation fund and if they actually carried guns and were protecting our country, maybe i would consider it, but they don't. these just regular turtles. this one amends and reauthorizes the marine turtle conservation act of 2004. we're going to spend $5 million annually for fiscal year 2009 through '014, but

chavitz' office says we can only spend 20% of that money -- hang on for a second, because you going to be so pissed off when i say this -- we can only spend 20% of that money here in the united states. the other 80% must be spent on saving international turtles! what? under the southern sea otter recovery and research act, we're going to spend $5 million year for fiscal years 2010 to 2015 on research and recovery programs for southern sea otters along the california coast. didn't we talk about the sea other program in california already? wasn't that one of the things i said they should cut from their budget in california are the otters double dipping in the state in federal funds? is that what is happening? is there a lobbyist for otters

and turtles that i don't know about. maybe we should hire them to represent the people of the united states and to hell with the otters and the turtles, but that's just me, and that's your hot list! what is everyone waiting in line for, cookie dough, a free harry potter movie? find out next.

americans are. i know what we have done in the past, and the first thing we have to do is draw a line in the sand and very soon i will tell you how, but in the meantime, there are vital steps that are politically incorrect, but i'm going to ask you to take them. first thing that i would like to ask you to do is consult with a trusted spiritual advisor for guidance that. can be a member of your clergy or trusted spiritual friend t could be -- i don't i don't carf you worship a spoon. talk to the spoon. unless the spoon is telling you to kill or hurt people, then it's probably a spoon that you shouldn't listen to, you should listen. the guidance of the lord in prayer needs to be sought in this country at this time. this is something that invites ridicule of the mindless godless spawns of hell i know, but i couldn't care less. get on your knees and ask the lord what we should be doing. we must have inspiration on our side for this struggle, because what's coming our way is not good. second, now that you're

freshly armed with inspiration, i ask you to read the news, study the issues from multiple sources, share them with your family, talk to your children. you need to see things cheerer, and you will be far less likely to be decieved with inspiration, and third, question everything. as thomas jefferson said "question with boldness. " and yes, when i say everything, i mean even the things you hear from me. my mom used to say you have a head on your shoulders for a reason. use t my credibility means everything to me right now, so before we put anything on the radio show or fox news, we check and we double-check and triple check, and even with all of that, sometimes we still don't get it right. in other words, whether it is a story on fox news or something you hear from your best friend, trust, but verify. it's a tough one, but you got to do it. the fourth thing is remember where we came from r this is so critical. remember our heritage. one of the most shocking things said during the

presidential campaign last year came from michelle obama during a campaign stop. she said, and i quote "and barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices." ok. "we're going to have to change our conversation." what does that mean? glenn: progressive courses are being taught to college kids these days. when you think all hope would be be lost, had there is princeton's course on our founding fathers where they're lining up to get into this class. here is the director of the james madison program, a friend of the program. welcome, sir. >> thank you for having me on the show. glenn: tell me exactly what

the college students, at least at princeton are lung gri for -- are hungry for. >> one of the things is the american founding and principles of american government that we aspire to the founding faers this. i teach the course in constitutional interpretation, taught it at princeton going back decades t has always been a popular course because students want to know what this country is about. glenn: you have sometimes 15 people in one of these progressive courses and you have 100 to 125 and almost 1,250 in the spring for this course. >> well, 250 for the civil liberties course in the spring. sometimes less. glenn: so what is the -- what's happening? what does this tell you about our students today? >> well, it tells me that our students not prepared to dismiss our founding fathers who as dead white males who were slave owners and don't need to be listened to.

on the contrary, they realize that the achievement of liberty, republican government, was a tremendous achievement, something difficult to win and easy to lose. our students wanted to hang on to it. they want to understand and study the principles of the american government. glenn: i'm convinced that if we lose the youth, and we're back particularly to making the kids idiots and they don't know any different. i would like to have you back and look for differences from the years passed of teaching this course and the difference in questions, and i would love to have you bring a few of the students up and we'll do a stewed he quo show with the student -- we'll do a studio show and talk with the students and how they perceive the democracy and all of that. >> we would be delighted to do that. when you hear from the students, you won't give up hope. quite the opposite. the students are great. they are our future. glenn: good. thank you very much,
