sometimes we are slow, but we are always building. [captioning made possible by fox news channel] captioned by the national captioning institute ---www.ncicap.org--- glenn: welcome to the glenn beck program. here are the questions we are asking tonight. what does it mean to be an american anymore? how long before the mainstream media goes broke? we had 4.1 million viewers at 5:00 p.m. on our rerun last night, and yet the mainstream media didn't even cover the story we were covering, and how long before you realize there is no reason to each watch these people. they are lying to you. they are part of it. the next one, will the mainstream media cover tonight's acorn tape? oh, there's a new one in another city. haven't heard about it yet, have you? no, no, not unless you have
2:01 am
been watching fox. if you believe this country is great but you don't want corruption to destroy it, you got to stand up and come follow me! hello, america. tonight i want to talk to you about corruption. i want to talk to you about where we're headed. i want to give you some answers. we got a lot of calls last night people saying what do i do? i'm going to help you with that tonight. but in order to chart a course forward, you have to know where you are, and we're in trouble, and you have to also know where you came from. in my lifetime, there has never been a bigger story than the events that took place on september 11, 2001. 19 al qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial planes and carried out their
2:02 am
suicide attacks. they murdered 3,000 americans. it changed us. for a long time i thought it changed us for the better. do you remember what it was like those terrifying days right after 9/11? do you are remember what we were like to each other? i didn't think it would end, and then it did. before 9/11, and me included, we were complacent. we took our security and our freedoms for granted. we just assumed that our freedom would always be here, that america could never change. we're there again, aren't we? we fell asleep at liberty's wheel. we were slapped into reality in a few fateful moments. today, it is a day of are remembrance. they say it is also a day of service, but you know what? i think the best way to serve
2:03 am
on september 11 is to not forget. we cannot allow ourselves to slip back into our pre-9/11 ignorance or we are going to be doomed to let history repeat itself over and over and over again. we're the people in the history books that you read and they say, how did they miss this? how were they so stupid? that's what we're living now. we must never, ever, ever forget. we must never forehe get how fragile and how delicate and how valuable our freedom really is. we must not forget the sights and the sounds from what started as a beautiful glorius tuesday morning in september, 2001.
2:04 am
>> he we have hijackers onboard making demands. >> say it again. >> did you understand that transmission? >> it was unreasonable. it sounded like someone had a problem or something. >> affirmative. he said there was a bomb onboard. >> the man we spoke with, we didn't get it clear. >> is that aircraft turning to the east now? >> he just turned to the east. >> we are looking for a visual. stand by. >> do you have a visual now? >> we lost them on the turn. >> 9:56. we just lost the target on that aircraft.
2:05 am
>> 8:52. something wierd is going on. the world trade center is on fire. >> oh, my goodness! >> we're trying to get information. >> unfolding from new york city, a plane crash. >> i hope she's ok! >> oh, my god! it is complete pandemonium. >> it was raining papers and ashes. >> it is like an earthquake or something! oh, my god, it was a huge explosion. >> people are jumping out of the windows! they're jumping out of the windows!a plane has flown into a
2:06 am
third location outside of washington. >> i don't have words to describe what i'm witnessing right now. freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward. our freedom will be defended. >> >> oh, my god! >> oh, my god! >> we look back to the t.v. and a lot of the world trade towers has collapsed and fallen. >> what's happening? >> i have never seen anything like this.
2:07 am
>> i've got five patients! >> the building is collapsing! the other tower just came down! get the cops away from the building! where are you now? where are you, ken? where are you? we're not going to be stopped we're not going to be deterred! we're not going to be frightened! we're going to live our lives as americans! >> i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america. >> we all got to stick together. >> under god, indivisible -- >> where are you, kenny? >> my god, look at the skyline
2:08 am
without the towers. it is tuesday, september 11, 2001. this is glenn beck. in one of the most ignatious attacks, they crashed two airliners into the world trade center in a coordinated series of blows today that brought down the twin 110-story towers. thousands may be dead. 58,000 people work at the world trade center.
2:09 am
2:10 am
glenn: i play a version of that on my radio program every year. it was originally produced by a guy named eric chase and nick daley that work for me, and they're brilliant. it brings me back to exactly how i felt that day. in the end, you heard the audio, actual audio of me on the radio, and i remember reading those headlines as we thought that there would be many more dead that day. i have been playing some of that audio for eight years now. i'm on the radio between 9:00
2:11 am
and noon eastern, so i watched the memorial services every single year. they haven't changed much. memorial services here in manhattan, you could have run a replay of last year's or three years, five years ago ago, and ground zero to me looks exactly the same as it did after we went and we marked the one-year anniversary. i can't help but notice the hole in the ground where the world trade centers once stood so proud and mightily. it is still just a hole in the ground. year after year after year after year. i ask for some pictures. i want to show these to you. we have the camera here. this is the world trade center in 2002. that's a year after. i stood right here on this
2:12 am
bridge, just about a week after the world trade centers went, i stood over here by world trade center number 7, and the smoke billowed through the streets, and i will never fully get the smell of that area out of my memory. i will tell you, i told a friend just this year, it's fading. that was 2002. this is the world trade center 2003. this is 2004. this one is 200 a. this one is 2006. 2007. 2008. let me ask you something, america -- show me the difference. show me the difference. is this really -- this is it?
2:13 am
you're telling me that eight years is too little time in this country to construct a high-rise building? is this really the best that we can do? you know, my window in my office -- i work right down the street, and it looks right at the empire state building. the empire state building. when we built the empire state building, construction began on march 17, 1930. 57,000 tons of steel in 1930. 3,400 workers. you know how long it took us to build the empire state building? 400 days. 400 days! it opened on may 1st, 1931. how about the hoover dam? this is a 1,200-foot long, 700-foot tall concrete dam in the middle of nowhere. they started building this in
2:14 am
1931. they finished it five years later. over 100 people died building that dam. you know why? when americans want to do something, we find a way to get it done. when we built the empire state building, people were throwing hot rivets of steel at each other. it's who we are. maybe it's who we used to be, but i know that's a lie. it's who we are. these two events happened in the 1930's. let me ask you a question -- do we have less imagination than we did in 1930? do we have less technology than we did in 1930? do we have less spirit or drive than we did in 1930? do you remember who we are? we are people that tamed the
2:15 am
west. we are people that took wagons over the mountains. i got news for you! if i would have been in a wagon train, man, i would have seen the rocky mountains, i would have said, denver's cool with me. we have been waiting for eight years, eight years! and we still got this! we have been waiting for the new freedom tower, yeah. yeah. we got a hole in the ground. 400 days to build the empire state building, an 2,920 days to have this. will anyone ask why? what does it even mean to be an american anymore? you know, let me tell you something, i believe that if it were up to you or me, or just regular schmoes in america, the freedom tower would have been done years
2:16 am
ago. it wouldn't have been the freedom tower. it would have been the freedom towers, because we would have built both of these towers back the way they were before, except we would have built them stronger. we would have built them in a way that they would have resisted attack. my guess is they would have been 235 stories taller and have a big fat come and try that again sign on top of it. we would have built it with our bare hands if we had to, because that's what americans do. when we fail, when we face a crisis, we pull ourselves up and make things better. i believe the only reason we haven't built it isn't because of americans. it's because we're being held back, and who is holding us back? politicians! special interest groups, political correctness. you name it! everybody but you. you know why we're not even calling it the freedom tower anymore? it is going to be one world trade center. one world, isn't that great, oh. it might be too offensive to call it a freedom tower.
2:17 am
we sure wouldn't want to have anybody offended by that. we want to make sure we have the occupancy there. really? they used to call it the empty state building. you want somebody who is offended by freedom in that tower? who could that be? oh, well, china. china. i don't want anybody in the freedom tower who is offended by freedom. do you? today on 9/11, remember the victims, but also remember why we were attacked. remember who we are! we were attacked by the enemies of freedom. what better way to remember the fallen than to build a tower and name it after the very thing that they celebrated every day of their life, to remind us of who we are r we have forgotten. we have forgotten. we have not europeans. we're americans. we don't run out of burning buildings. we run into them! we are good and decent people, democrats and republicans. we are free! although it seems more and more to me that all those
2:18 am
things that we have done in the last years to stay free are going to eventually end up enslaving all of us. gab it! grab it while you can. you cannot bottle freedom. you can't. you can't steer it. it just is. but you can live it. you can pursue your dreams here. at this moment, you can still pursue your dreams. people are not ris risking their lives to leave oppressive countries in order to go to another france. how many in hollywood are paddling around in an inner tube to get to cuba? they're not! they live here! people come to america because of who we are, who we have always been and who we still are. you get the politicians, the special interest groups, the corruption the hell out of the way and you let americans build a freedom tower. send a message to the rest of the world, you can not keep us down! anything you try to destroy will only make us stronger. here's a message to those in
2:19 am
washington -- get the hell out of the way! that scar, this scar at the end of the island, that is your monument of what you have done. that's what you do with a tragedy or emergency -- beat it! let's give americans a chance to do it themselves, because the american spirit is still alive. you have awaken add sleeping giant. we have had enough! it may have been dormant for a while, day dazed and confused, held down by people trying to put a cap on american ingenuity and freedom, but i believe that is about to come out of the smoke and dust itself off and declare itself itself off and declare itself free again.s getting around in your home. and you know you need a power chair. well you probably also know that with medicare and your
2:20 am
supplemental insurance a power chair costs you little or nothing out of pocket. but a power chair can literally change your life. so how do you make the right choice. just ask these questions. one, is it round? most chairs are big and square so they can get stuck in tight spaces. a round chair can go more places and there's only one round power chair, hoveround. next question, is it reliable? at hoveround, we make your chair, deliver your chair and service your chair. last question, is it easy? it is with hoveround. our specialists handle all of the paperwork for you so call hoveround today. get a free dvd kit that can change your life. we're better all around. go to hoveround.com or call the number on your screen today.
2:23 am
glenn: is was just on the break and we were talking and i said why do we take it? it is an embarrassment, the world trade center, still at the bottom of the island a hole. you and i know it. i don't care who you voted for, it's an embarrassment. why do we take it? because i don't i don't think yw what to do. the paradigm is changing. you can feel it. you can feel it. those who think they have the power, the more they gather, the harder they try to hold on to it, and the more it is going to slip through their fingers. case in point. we brought you this story exposing corruption at acorn. you remember this? this is the undercover tapes of a man and his girlfriend going into an acorn office looking for help to buy a house. why do they need help? well, the girl is a prostitute, you see, and she is being discriminated against by the banks and the police,
2:24 am
because she's a prostitute. this lady, she is going to help them. she is going to help them, you know, help them make legitimate that illegal activity. >> the type of business or service that you provide. let me make sure there a code for it. >> a code for prostitution? >> yeah, because i have to have a name and a code number. >> well, i don't know if there is going to be a code. >> let me get my list. >> ok. glenn: the story was so huge, so huge, i wondered last night, how many in the media are going to cover it? well, we watched. let's take a look here. let's take this story by the numbers. since yesterday morning until about noon today, how many times did the mainstream media outlets cover the acorn story? what is >> price! coming in at number one, fox, 19 times, at least 19 times. cnn, how many times?
2:25 am
whoa! three. three. wow. that's kind of like, you know, america playing basketball at the olympics. sure you, you got the bronze but look at how much you suck. nbc, how much did they cover the acorn scandal? zero. abc, how many times did abc cover it? zero. what do you think, cbs? oh, zero. nbc, how many times did they cover this story? new york times, this is a a good one, huh? you could get a pulitzer prize. what? but you know what? ha chew, excuse me. they have an asterisk there. do you know why? yeah, give me "the washington post," because they get an asterisk, too. how about "the wall street journal"? they get an asterisk, although they led the way a little bit on this one. the times an the post get an asterisk because they ran one
2:26 am
article run by the associated press. they didn't even write it themselves and they ran it on-line, and the journal had sound fund who has been following this story, they had an editorial but that was on-line. what was the reaction from acorn? ready -- how many people from acorn lost their job because of this, what did they call this, a hyped up story or some sort of a smear campaign? how many people did they fire over this false story? oh, two. yeah, the two ladies we showed them to you last night, that's huge. two more acorn employees that the rathke brothers throw under the bus. let's look at numbers, number of fraudulent voter registrations acorn admitted in the 2008 election cycle. how many of them? 400,000. number of states where acorn is under investigation. 14. number of acorn workers arrested for voter fraud.
2:27 am
150. number of cases that resulted in guilty pleas. 30. tax dollars, number of tax dollars thaw work hard for every day that acorn has received since 1994. ok. does that piss you off at all? maybe someone should cover this, amount of federal tax dollars acorn is eligible to receive in the stimulus package. $8.5 billion! number of republicans calling for investigations into acorn. we found 67. number of democrats calling for investigations into acorn. 2. they are more pathetic than cnn was on the coverage. that's two, if you count arlen specter, and he was still a republican, so it's really actually one. can we try again? actually, i shouldn't even say
2:28 am
that. number of democrats, if i have one, the number of democrats calling for investigations into acorn, but that one was john conyers, but he called it off, so, the number of democrats asking, yes, there it is -- zero! how is that possible? how about the number of investigations into van jones? no idea. number of investigations into cass sunstein? had let's just push him through, why not? number of investigations into the national endowment for the arts? remember i told you this story, and they were using the national endowment for the arts to buy propaganda for the president? yeah. the only one i know that could call for it is me and andrew breitbart. how about the number of people on the panel investigating -- are you ready for your heart to jump out of your chest? they announced this today. the number of of people on the panel investigating the arrest of this guy. remember him? 12.
2:29 am
this is the good friend of barack obama, the hater, you know? the city of cambridge has selected 12 people from across the country to serve on an independent panel to assess the arrest, the outcome, the aftermath, and how better training -- training could have prevented the incident. the mayor of cambridge told "the washington post" a story that they're actually still covering that the panel members were picked because of their, quote, diverse professional backgrounds with their experience with community relations and conflict resolution. you got to be kidding me! here is all i need to investigate this incident. show this. this is from are the white house. this is a white house photo. here is president obama going to the rose garden. here is his very good friend that had a cane. remember the whole store i? yeah, look -- oh, my gosh! the white hater is helping him while he struts like a peacock, but let's go back to that acorn investigation,
2:30 am
shall we? house judiciary committee chairman john conyers had planned to investigate acorn. later, he told "the washington times", quote -- "the powers that be decided against it." hmm. when the chairman of the house judiciary committee can't hold a hearing, let me ask you this, can we have an investigation to find out who the powers that be are q. i wish i had a panel of 12 people to investigate, oh, and a very diverse panel, too. judging by the last 24 hours or so, we're going to follow this, acorn, and in fact we have new breaking news on it again today, but judging on the last 24 hours, we'll follow it, but it's just going to be fox and you and me. but see, this is where i started. don't worry. don't worry, because the paradigm is changing. that's the way it started with the czar thing, too. and look at the progress you
2:31 am

2:33 am
2:36 am
you, i have great hope, because i think i know the next step. you know, the first step i told you six months ago was to unite, to let people know you're not alone. reach out to others and find them. as a next step, i'm going to share with you from tomorrow from 1:00 to 3:00 and we're just going to hammer it for the next few, because i know the solution. i really feel i know the solution, but it's going to require you stepping outside of your comfort zone yet again. i think you're there. i really do. i mean, how do you explain what you saw last night, what you haven't seen in newspapers today, and what you're about to see now? i have been speechless for a while now on what's going on in this country, but i am even more speechless on what i'm seeing in the mainstream media. yesterday, you saw on the fox news channel, and almost no place else, the undercover video
2:37 am
that was taken at acorn's headquarters in baltimore. today, we have a new video in the series. this one is at the acorn headquarters in our nation's capital, the capital of corruption. watch closely tonight. >> i have a unique situation. >> what do you mean unique situation? >> my girlfriend is a prostitute. i'm running for a local election, and we have gone to a lot of mortgage brokers and they just kicked us right out. we can't put this on paper. prostitution is not legal in this area. >> you can have a business and can cheat the system.
2:38 am
>> ok, now, i will make up a name of the business. do you understand what i'm saying? she can be a sole proprietor. you don't put down all the things. you don't put down i'm a prostitute. they want to see bank statements. >> there is one variable here. it's not just her. this house something going to be for a lot of girls. 13 el salvador girls. >> i understand what you're saying. it's your house. what you do in it is your business. >> i understand. you need a house and your girlfriend is a lady of the night. we know where you're coming from. we're looking out for you.
2:39 am
>> if the gentleman does run fors office, he needs unlimited funds. glenn: i broke this audio this morning on my radio program. the video was released on fox at 11:00 this morning, and we just got word from fox news that these two that are in this video have been fired in washington, d.c. you know, i'm having a hard time understanding this one, because yesterday acorn said this was a fraud and defamatory video, and they knew about it. they knew these people were trying to do this in several cities. there it is. it is false and defamatory and an attempt at gotcha journalism. acorn wants to see the full video before commenting further." they fired the two that we showed you last night after the
2:40 am
show, and during the show or we just got word about it now, they have fired these two ladies. joining me now with her reaction to all of this is a woman that you have seen before on this program. her name is marcel reid. she chaired the board at the d.c. chapter of acorn. she is a remarkable woman. she also now chairs the acorn eight, a group of brave whistleblowers who were kicked off of acorn's national board after they asked just to see inside the books. she is not giving up the fight now. marcel, how are you? >> i'm fine, glenn. how are you? >> i'm very good. do you know these two women by any chance that were in that office? >> yes, i do. i definitely know ms. bloom. >> does it surprise you that this is going on? >> i'm stunned. i was called by one of our producers and told that just a few hours ago of whats was
2:41 am
happening, and i was so sure that this wouldn't happen at the d.c. office. i had no idea that there was anything like this that occurred at acorn housing. glenn: right. but you are sure something is going on because they wouldn't let you see the books and that's why you're fighting, because you are saying it's corrupt in some levels. you're concentrating -- which i think people might misunderstand when when they see these videos and think that the bad guys are the ones working at acorn. well, especially last night and these ladies as well. i mean, they're engaged in illegal activity. they're doing the bidding of people way up above them. these people are doctors poseable, are they not? >> they are absolutely disposable. the real truth of it is that they are forced to push for numbers. there is always the need for more numbers. whenever there is a need with numbers and there is no transparency and there is no accountability, then this how
2:42 am
you slide off the side of the cliff. i have been barred out of that office. there is actually video of me trying to enter the office there in d.c. and being physically barred, but i think the interesting connection here is that we were barred out of the d.c. office by people from maryland, specifically, a mr. stewart katzenberg whos was the h.o. from maryland and his accomplice was the reverend gloria swearinger, because d.c. would not knuckle under, and we continued to ask questions. glenn: marcel, one quick question since i'm up against a break. this video has everything. we have two videos now. sex, corruption. government officials. hidden cameras, and yet nobody is covering it. is this a sign that the media is also complicit with the powers that be? >> i don't know, but you know, it is very difficult. if it hadn't been for you, we
2:43 am
would have never gotten our story out. i can't say that definitively, but it certainly seems that way. glenn: marcel, we have only just begun. thank you very much. god bless you. >> thank you. glenn: america, i want you to know that there are so many good people on this story. james o'keefe is the filmmaker. he is the guy who went in. you met hanna yesterday. she is playing the prostitute in this. sean hannity is also on this story. i don't want you to miss hannity's exclusive interview with james o'keefe tonight at 9:00 p.m. eastern. it is called "teamwork." we're all in this one together, because we're all americans. i don't care if you're right or left or democrat or republican or independent. clean it up. teamwork. come together. next, we told you about our tax dollars going to propaganda to buy you off, i guess, to convince you and all that propaganda artwork coming from the national endowment for the5
2:47 am
glenn: earlier this month i told you about a conference call that took place between the national endowment of the arts and the white house. the purpose of the call was for artists to create art. i like to call it propaganda that would support the p president's agenda. the white house is on the phone call. this is the national endowment of the arts. listen to what they say, carefully. >> this is just the beginning. this is the first telephone call of a brand new conversation. we are just now learning how to really bring this community together to speak with the government, what that looks like legally. we're still trying to figure out the laws of putting government websites on facebook, and the use of twitter. this is all being sorted out. we are participating in history and it's being made, so bear with us as we learn the language
2:48 am
so that we can speak to each other safely and we can really work together and move the needle and to get stuff done." glenn: well, things have changed for the n.e.a.'s communications director yosi sergeant. here is patrick who came op the show when he first recorded this story, he recorded the call. he is a contributor on the breitbart blog and a filmmaker and art consultant. wow. we found out yesterday that the white house has transferred -- first it was reported that he was fired or resigned and then they later clarified that he has been transferred, is that right? >> yes they said was reassigned, and -- yeah, he was reassigned. glenn: nobody will say anything. we only know this story because the left blogs are blaming me and i want you to know, it's that guy. i have nothing to do with it.
2:49 am
it's this guy. patrick, that's the only reason why we know that he was reassigned. why is this making -- why is this a story right now? >> well, you know, the fact that he was reassigned, i think it has upset some people. some people feel that it is not enough. to me, i don't think it matters. yosi is not the story here. the story is really the national endowment for the arts arts effort. glenn: so, in other words, it's almost like we're pushing people out of the way so we don't expose the real agenda? hmm. >> potentially. i mean, he is a communications director. he is not the person that approves an effort. that was done by someone else. the role of the communication director is different. glenn: loose lips sink ships sometimes. we will come back and see what the fruitstsext if you had a
2:50 am

2:53 am
2:54 am
found out, has been transferred but i have to pull this from the l.a. weekly, an article. "the publicist behind shepherd ferry's obama hope posters, you will see sergeant from 2008, a 33-year-old environmentalist, rides his bike everywhere, doesn't wear logos." oh, i love him. barack obama is a figurehead of the progressive movement. i want to get obama elected. i use the mechanisms i know, which are basically artistic. i drank the kool-aid. i'm alive with it. i believe! and obama saying "we are the change we have been waiting for." he also partnered with moveon.org. this guy is a lefty left, and now that we have eck supposed the administration, are they still having the phone calls? are propaganda pieces going forward, do you know? >> well, they are still having conference calls. i have not been invited to the one that i was a part of, but i know they have continued to move forward. if this was a bipartisan effort,
