[chanting] steve: new overnight and another fox news alert. just hours before president obama makes a big announcement before the g-20 summit in pittsburgh the tear gas is flying. what the heck is happening over there we will have details. brian: if it fails, i'm dead. that's the word from our vice president. what is joe biden talking about?
6:01 am
we will tell you or try. our slogan comes from bill in rock hills, south carolina. "fox & friends," with my morning egg sends a great tingle up my leg. [captioning made possible by fox news channel] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> did chris matthews write in that slogan for us? brian: yes, he did. i wasn't supposed to say that. gretchen: somehow we got the memo of matching. brian: a little purplesque. steve: no indication there was coordination. yet, there are three terror plots that have been busted open in four different cities, they involve new york city and denver. we have been talking about that but this morning we are going to tell you about a new case in springfield, illinois and also in dallas, texas. but let's start with the case that has cap vacated the nation ever since, you know that guy that -- the limo driver out in denver who said i'm not a terrorist? well, yesterday, the eaftd --

affidavit was unsealed and found out for a guy who says is he innocent, sure a lot of evidence to show he was trying to blow something up. gretchen: i blamed it on his girlfriend. why, you ask? he was buying beauty supplies. apparently he was going to use hydrogen peroxide, nail polish remover. things like that can make homemade bombs similar to the bombs that went off in london a few years ago on the buses. wow, you are really going through this stuff. he said yeah, i have a lot of girlfriends. that's exactly what he was up to and now we're getting more and more details, brian. knob of it is good news. brian: this guy his dad is released but left under house arrest. the imam that called him up and said they are looking for you, he is now out but he is being looked at and a big bail there. but this guy, zazi, is the one who went to pakistan.
6:03 am
was in new york selling hot dogs down the street. and then went over to denver. when he came back on september 10th. that is when people went into high alert. the investigators said we are not going to be able to wait any longer. they went in there. checked out his house. they found out he was making this stuff by check vents above his oven. he was working the phones trying to get ahold of someone. the exact ingredients and mixture of the products. what was gretchen talking about? the same same mixture used in london to kill 52 people, including the suicide bomber. exact same mixture that richard reid was going to use. gretchen: if he was on the phone with somebody, he would only be able to be tracked because of the patriot act. remember that? because that offered the surveillance to be able to track those kinds of phone calls, not with innocent people but with people like this guy to be able to figure out how you are going to stop plots like this that, by the way, we still live in the war on terror, folks, luckily they stopped this one.
6:04 am
steve: they got all that evidence he was trying to cook something up at hotel room in aurora, illinois. when he drove to new york city, turns out he drives here looking for muir addict -- murat mur radiculopathy -- acid. they are looking for this man who drove to the federal courthouse. jumped out, got in the car, drove off, and dialed a phone number, hoping to blow up that particular van. as it turns out, the chemicals in the van, because the fbi was in on the plot, duds. didn't blow up. brian: he wanted to target recruitment stations. he said after while let's go for a federal building. he has pledged his loyalty to osama bin laden. he was hoping to blow that up. congratulations to the fbi for setting up this sting. so we got him. and, yet, another plot also
6:05 am
happened in dallas, trying to take down a 60-story, i guess someone called that a scraper sky scraper. gretchen: apparently that was his plot. under continuous surveillance. another car bomb situation. he was arrested as well. you have to wonder. none of these cases apparently are connected. but i think it goes to show that in cities all across america, people are still trying to hurt us and thanks to the authorities for being able to stop these before something major happens. steve: sure. well, you could maybe make a connection all this stuff is happening around the anniversary of september the 11th. but i will tell you what, the people in dallas, texas, who work in the fountain place building in dallas. when they found out somebody was trying to blow up their building, here is some of the reaction. >> i'm very upset that we are
6:06 am
allowed to work in a building when somebody knows about what's happening and we weren't informed. i mean, it's scary, definitely scarey. to think that it was that close to happening and in the building. brian: there you go. overseas contingency operation has come to a building near you. steve: today, hats off to the fbi. local law enforcement have done a spectacular job in thwarting what could have been three attacks on this nation. brian: steve, also factor in the cia. if you are dealing with pakistan and other countries, including countries cairo first. the cia is involved. six minutes after the hour. talk about the stimulus package. it cost us $787 billion, money which we didn't have. how is it going? good news is our economy is a lot better a year ago than it is today, but according to joe biden. this stimulus package has exceeded his wildest dreams. better than i ever thought -- worked better than i ever
6:07 am
thought it would. gretchen: he is also making a different kind of admission, which is if it doesn't work out, here is what he told governor jay nixon pure self-interest, jay, if it fails i'm dead. brian: that's after jay thanked him for his interest in what's happening state to state and putting the package forward and going on conference call to these governors. that was his response. steve: that is exactly right. of these 55 governors and territorial leaders on this phone call apparently four got to ask questions. at one point, interestingly enough, joe biden said ok i know why one guy got to ask a question because he is the head of the national governor's association and the other guy is irish. two times during the conference call joe biden reminded the governors you know, i'm irish, by the way, i will be dead if this thing doesn't pass. he is quite a character. gretchen: there are people who don't agree with him whether or not the stimulus package created jobs across the country.
6:08 am
within federal agencies yes, about 3,000 jobs. whether or not it stimulated all of the economy and most importantly the unemployment level, you have people like darryl ice is a, -- issa who disagrees. he says the only thing is the size of the federal government. steve: look at the big screen, since december of 2008, if there is job growth, where is it? uncle sam getting chubbier. federal government has grown by 25,000 employees. while the federal government is getting bigger. the nation's unemployment rolls are getting bigger as well. unemployment has increased by nearly 4 million people who are having a desperate part-time in many places finding a job. brian: who is going to pay for those people to sustain their jobs. steve: federal employees.
6:09 am
brian: 2,000 hired to oversee the stimulus package. gretchen: that was the argument of so many that didn't want to take the stimulus money. looking at live pictures from capitol hill. why are we showing you this? because right now muslims are gathering for the first ever national day of prayer for them. but others are gathering in protests. joining us live from washington our own caroline shively for more on this story. good morning, caroline. >> good morning to you, gretchen. it's called islam on capitol hill. organizers tell us they expect tens of thousands of muslims to come here to the western front of the capital to pray and hear recitations of the koran throughout the day. as many as 50,000 or possibly beyond. one of the organizers is hassan abdel la. he is calling on muslims to renounce violence to show people more about their faith and pray throughout the day. abdullah isn't without controversy himself. he has defended terrorists a lawyer, president of a mosque. he also serves as a lawyer. another bit of controversy today

a group made of christian leaders. that group is called americans for transparency and honesty in religion. they wrote a letter to the organizers that reads, in part, quote, while the u.s.-muslim community loudly proclaims that muslim islam has nothing to do with terrorism leaders of the community are con pickiesly acts of islam. listen to that as well as abdullah's response rnchts they praying for the well-being of the country or praying against the country? that's a real concern given their inability to speak out against terrorist attacks that have occurred against america and overseas. >> i think these acts that have occurred and muslims individually and collectively repudiate these acts. si don't think tomorrow is a place to repudiate these specific act. tomorrow is about our faith. it's not about politics.

the politicians to have a chance to read these bills online before they are voted on in the house. there f. there was one clear message out of all the town halls this summer it was read the bills. have you read the bills? gretchen: you still had very high level politicians who is that corrected at that like we never read the bills. it was disgrace theful but woke up the american public to say isn't that your job? isn't it their job and don't you think it will pass? it's an interesting climate because it probably would not have passed before. will it pass now. >> this is where we are in hand-to-hand democracy in graduate roots. we have five democrats who have signed on our discharge petition. the petition to read the bill. we have a total of 173 members in two days. we need 218. so we need every member of congress willing to stand up and say, you know what? it's time to reform this institution. we heard what people said at home. let's have the chance for them, us, you, and the press to read the bills.
6:20 am
you know, the other things we should have oh maybe a hearing on these bills. before we are asked to vote on them in committee. wouldn't that be a good idea. gretchen: i want to point out that the exception to this rule if it passes is f. any information is classified, then that would -- you would not expose that and put that bill on the internet. but, tell me your thoughts on transparency, because the obama administration said they were going to be very transparent and this speaks to me about transparency. >> well, there is nothing more important than transparency and accountability in public. it's lacking and why so many people are upset across this country. i come from the state of oregon. we required all of this sort of activity to be available to the public, a very public process. i spoke to a city councilman he said when we do a resolution it's three weeks before it's voted on. gretchen: no kidding. ask people to read the bill. congressman greg wall den, thanks for being my guess this morning. >> thanks, gretchen. gretchen: regulating what girls do in dorm rooms like having

of odd that they would select a song -- i mean, that is to the tune of jesus loves the little children and rather than singing about jesus they are singing about barack obama. >> that's correct. i have a real problem with -- at that age, at the same time, we raise our children catholic and i had enrolled my son jimmy in a communion program. he was going to have his first communion and he was starting to learn about church and god and everything like that. and singing his praises. i just think it caused a little confusion and maybe a conflict to him that we were idolizing someone that was an elected official. i mean, this man is, indeed, i have nothing against the president, he is our commander and chief and i teach my children that but to honor him and praise him to sing along with jesus, you know, in our schools is something that, you know, i just don't approve of. brian: you were alluding james, you would be just as upset if

they were singing about bob doll or george bush, right? >> definitely. absolutely. we praise god. we don't praise -- they took prayer out of school. i feel like we're not allowed to, um, you know, have halloween or call it a christmas tree. it has to be a holiday tree. we are not allowed to reach our religion. they should not preach politics to our children. steve: what a story. we thank you from joining from us philadelphia on this friday morning. by the way. >> thank you. steve: you betcha. an hour from now another family who spotted their child on that video and they are understandably unhappy. brian: reigning in the president's czars what the senate democrats just did to make sure they don't have to answer to congress. steve: and man do we have a lot of czars. the tent flap goes on. why is moammar kadafi's tent still on donald trump's property

president. the "new york post" writes that it should have been given by obama because, quote, the greatest threat facing the world in the world today is the marriage between religious fundamentalism and weapons of mass destruction. why didn't obama give that speech? gretchen: because he has a totally different philosophy. in the meantime he was busy trying to make sure that we are all friends and talking amongst each other because that is, frankly, the philosophy. it differs very much from what george bush's philosophy was. of course those attacks that netanyahu. he was talking did ahmadinejad, why do we allow these people to come and speak their minds here. none of them make sense including hugo chavez. remember him? he is from venezuela. when he came here a few years ago in 2006. evidence said the room smelled like sulfur because president bush had just been in there. that he was like the devil. guess what he is saying now? he is saying the room has a different aroma this time around. it has a little bit more hope. >> where do you come from? >> i work for fox news. >> fox news. >> fox news, oh, i love when i

complete your thought. >> brian: lawmakers duke it out on the baucus bill. it got worse. we will bring you all the fireworks. steve? steve: i thought i was watching "the view." meanwhile, the vice president making headlines again with this statement. if it fails, i'm dead. wait until you hear what joe biden is talking about. slogan comes from melissa in nebraska. she says i'm a proud american and here to say fox rocks my morning each and every day. thank you. [captioning made possible by fox news channel] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- brian: incredible, i thought this was actually president bush's first term when i got up and read the papers today and heard some of the accounts last night on the number of terror plots out there. how our courts are now handling guys, would-be terrorists with direct links to osama bin laden and how three unconnected events all went to the courts yesterday
7:02 am
and back in court today. gretchen: a lot of people thought that war on terror thing doesn't exist anymore. check out our map right here all these plots uncovered from denver to dallas to springfield, illinois, right here to new york city. so let's start with the new york city denver connection. this guy we have been telling you about, this 24-year-old guy named zazi who lived out in denver. he drove that shuttle bus that you have probably been on new have gone to the airport and gone over to your rental guy. here is the guy right here. spending a lot of time in beauty supply stores. why? because he was buying things like hydrogen peroxide and nail polish remover to do what happened in london a few years ago and blow up a few buses. they found stuff in his hotel room like he had been cooking this stuff up. they stopped him just in time. brian: and maybe baseball stadiums. steve: he had images on his computer. we saw still frame of different things you can buy across the counter. apparently this guy when he was
7:03 am
staying at a hotel that had a kitchen in aurora, colorado, where we were last year for the convention out there at a place called the beauty supply warehouse on interstate 225 he bought all this stuff. apparently he wasn't getting the concoction right. because according to the indictment, which was unsealed yesterday, he kept communicating with somebody else. each time it was more urgent. essentially i can't make it work yet. he had to use a stove to heat the stuff up. well, fast forward, suddenly he is here in the new york city area. what does he do when he is over in queens? he is looking for a place to buy my muriatic acid. you mentioned the images of sports stadiums. apparently when the police stopped him in new york, they toed his car and they also took his laptop. they mirrored the image on the hard drive so they would know what's on it. when he was arrested and his apartment searched in colorado a
7:04 am
couple days ago. the hard drive from the laptop missing. brian: they found laptops, cell phones, maps. this guy was in pakistan. going back and forth. he was down the block selling hot dogs for a while. moves to denver and comes back here. what about the other guys? imam involved we thought was working with the fbi. he was wiretapped warning zazi they're coming for you. he is out on a huge sum. steve: bail. brian: his dad, zazi's dad is out, yes, but he is under house arrest. he is far from removed from it. gretchen: this was not the only plot. by the way they don't know if they have all the suspects in that particular plot and whether or not they completed thwarted any activity. enough to we go to illinois. springfield, illinois where this guy named michael fen ton but he has now a different name because i believe he has. brian: can a lean islam. gretchen: he decides he wants to
7:05 am
blow up the courthouse there in springfield. he was in that court yesterday because it was still standing because they were able to get inside this plot as well. and they gave him fake bomb material. so when he went to press the button, it didn't work. vow that guy. then you move to dallas where another guy wanted to below up a sky scraper that employs a tremendous amount of people. steve: fountain place in dallas. the fellow who wanted to blow it up, he was arrested and his name is ha sam smadi a 19-year-old resident of italy, texas. is he a citizen of jordan and in the united states illegally. he placed what he thought was a bomb outside of the fountain place and apparently there is a wells fargo location there. he wanted to attack it on 9/11. but apparently he had been talking to a number of undercover fbi agents for a while. and one thing led to another. his attorney, his court appointed attorney now, this guy
7:06 am
says that he was entrapped by the fbi none the less, in a period of one week we have these three plots to kill as many americans as possible. brian: there you have got these plots unfolding and by theway fbi unbelievable sit there on the sideline and give these individual guys explosive equipment knowing they would be buying a car like a ford explorer, park it in front of a major building. never get to take a bow fbi guys can and men and women are not doing it for the money. steve: they are pros and they did it. gretchen: let's talk about health care. it has been heating up over the summer. guess what, the government run option may be back on the table as soon as today. you know, we have never really been able to get a firm answer from the president about whether or not he believes it should still be part of the plan. senator jon kyl doesn't believe it should be part of the plan. he tried to make his point.

7:08 am
>> senator baucus is under a lot of pressure. his leadership is telling him to hurry up and get this done. most of us are saying wait a minute this a big deal it effects people's lives literally we need to do it right. sometimes when we try to get something flushed out to understand it fully and ask questions of the staff and debate it ourselves, he has gotten frustrated and gastles us to shut us up. brian: if you were frustrated yesterday you will be frustrated today senator baucus does not have a public option. senator schumer and rockefeller are going to put that forward today. they said this is tomorrow, meaning that's when he said it, senator schumer set opening day is is going to be a big, big fight. gretchen: this is some advice to senator kyle, to get in real quick before can he cut you off, here is the question. who is going to pay for it? that's the only question you need to ask right now. who is going to pay poor it? because we have not yet gotten a firm answer on that particular part. brian: the cbo hasn't gotten back to the baucus people about
7:09 am
how much his is going to cost. >> now let's talk about how a number of republicans in the u.s. senate have come up with an idea. in fact, there was an amendment by louisiana republican david vitter. is he horrified at the number of czars there are floating around in this administration. so he offered up an amendment to another bill. in particular, it zoomed in and focused on carol browner whose picture is there. she is the white house climate czar. under vitter's plan no federal funds from the e.p.a. or the interior department could be dedicated to her project. one of the problems that vitter has got with the whole plan is that all of those czars, none of those czars working for the federal government and working for this white house none of them have been vetted by the u.s. senate. that's what our framers really had in mind. gretchen: yet, yesterday, there was a funny exchange. some people thought it was nuny, between the president and a reporter who asked a question and got a response that you might be surprised at.
7:10 am
listen to the president. >> i'm thinking the next time we do this we are going to have you [inaudible] [ laughter ] make you a czar. make you the awning czar. steve: make you the awning czar. they needed an awning. he is making a joke about an awning czar. there is room on the big board over there. brian: senator feinstein seemed to be into. this maybe we will take a look at the czars from here on in. word from the white house we don't want to do this. steve: so that move by the republicans to do something about the czars killed yesterday in committee. gretchen: ok. let's bring the rest of your friday headlines because we have a developing story from overnight where a crowd of protesters at that exact place where the president was g-20, they turned violent. police in riot gear unleashing pepper spray to break up the crowds in pittsburgh. they were protester capitalism and some of them rolled trash bins and chucked rocks at officers. right now 19 people are under arrest. this all comes hours before

president obama is expected to make a major announcement there he is expanding the number of countries tackling global economic issues. 19 emerging market countries will join the european union to join a new global forum. the g-20 will focus on global change and financial reform. the g-8 will continue to focus on national security. also fox news confirming this morning that the u.s. will accuse iran of trying to hide a highly enriched uranium yam plant. iran reported having a second plant the g-8 just gave them until the end of the year to cease the nuclear program. joins the world powers in sanctions resistance from china could undermine the effort. iran argues nuclear program is designed only to generate electricity. jaycee dugard could very welcome face to face with her accused kidnapper phillip garrido in court. her attorney believes if the case goes to trial, she will testify. >> there is no question that she knows the terrible and wrong

things that were done to her. and that the people who did those things must be held accountable by the authorities. and, therefore, she is cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation. gretchen: dugard and her daughters are getting tutors, health care, and counseling. an airline bringing smoking back. it will cost you, ryan air the european carrier says it will allow passengers to smoke on flights there is a catch. passengers won't be lighting up. instead the airline will permit passengers to use its new brand of smokeless cigarettes and they will charge you about 9 bucks a pack. that's an interesting twist. that airline always comes up with weird things like charging people to go to the bathroom, too. brian: really. we mentioned it so they accomplished their goal. meanwhile, straight ahead. president obama isn't done talking yet. and he is not -- in fact, he is -- although he has already done more than 120 interviews. he is making two speeches today. do you feel as though the president is overexposed?
7:13 am
we will debate that next. gretchen: that's right. school kids being taught to praise the president in song and on camera. well, one child's parents are not happy with the school. they had no idea this was going on. the mom joining us live here on "fox & friends" this morning. our bodies become... less able to absorb calcium. he recommended citracal. it's a different kind of calcium. calcium citrate. with vitamin d... for unsurpassed absorption, to nourish your bones.

7:17 am
former advisor to hillary rodham clinton. good morning to all of you. >> good morning. steve: we had brent bozell on yesterday talking about how obama is so overexposed now people aren't paying attention to his message because he is not saying anything new. it's the same thing over and over again. >> well, the bottom line is, you know, it all comes down to whether or not it's working for him. i think that his popularity with the american people definitely is still there the question is, does that translate to you having faith in whatever policies is he trying to implement. i think there is a difference there right now. >> steve: his approval rating are going down. lowest stage right now. >> but they are still high. ratings were for ronald reagan. definitely higher than they were for bill clinton. you have to take that into consideration and understand there will be peaks and valleys at this stage. steve: i do believe his ratings are only higher than clinton than a little bit. reagan's were much higher than that. >> they come and go in the ratings. they have been going down. the problem with overexposure
7:18 am
and this is heavily heavily exposed, is that you your ability to go out and have an impact lessens so that when you really want, to for instance, the president gave the speech to the congress. he got a bump out of that he got a little burden of proof and it went away quickly because partly because the exposure. you can only could that one time time. you request do a lot of these things a few times. people start tuning you out. you just not as effective. some things are you so do. steve: jehmu you look at the ratings because when you work in politics you have to figure how do i maximize my message. if you keep saying the same thing over and over each time the audience gets smaller have you got to figure maybe this isn't working for me. maybe i need some new stuff. >> i think he is actually broadens his aide audience. why was he the first president to go on a late night show. this should have happened before. >> why? >> look for years how their numbers are dwindling and represent a very small. steve: you say he is going to

new places but not necessarily being -- >> -- most importantly he is presenting fax to basically contradict all of the misinformation that has been promoted beyond belief. at the end of the day, i think it's transparency in action. i'm just happy he is working and not going on vacation as much as our last president. his approval ration. >> you definitely have a point. but let's be honest about something when you talk about the issue of afghanistan. you know his support is not what it was. talk about issues of the economy, his support is not what it was. he is definitely trusted more than the republicans are but at the same time, i mean. >> you can't make these kinds of cases. the fact of the matter is, he has been going down. this is a problem that we have. which is this -- coming out and spinning for the party doesn't work. the problem is is that he is losing support among independence, terribly, he is thing good thing to do.
7:20 am
i'm not sure i have advised the president and i have been involved in this. i think you start cheapening the office on david letterman and stuff. all of a sudden it stops being office that is unique. you start being everything and everywhere. >> your youngest viewers, more diverse viewers deserve to hear from their president. >> george f. -- great line ubiquitous, like elevator music. can't get away. >> i was laughing about that for two weeks. >> more exposure he should have been on fox. steve: absolutely. kind of looks bad for not doing it great panel. continue the conversation with them in just a minute. then, straight ahead. a mom had no idea her daughter was being taught this song to the tune of jesus the little children but they are singing not about jesus but obama. she saw it online and now she is really steamed. steve: what is brian kilmeade training for, find out which

>> you have heard about some of the president's controversial czars like van jones having to step down. but there are still more than 30 czars working this morning and no one is really checked into their background. and senate democrats now shooting down an amendment that would have these czars be accountable to congress in some measure. is the real pressure coming from the white house? we're back with our political panel. as we continue, i should point out that steven a. smith was citing a poll in the "new york times." so he was right about. >> well, that's the problem the "new york times" poll. steve: let's talk about the czars. pat caddell. czars go back to hoover. they have been there for a very long time. nobody has had as many as obama. is this a good idea, effective
7:25 am
idea to run government or abuse of power. >> usually it's been a couple of people and then started exploding exponentially, clinton and then bush. it really exploded and now it's out of control. not only out of control but what we just said is we are putting penal in who are not being vetted the thing about van jones i couldn't believe is look to get white house pass in the carter administration i had to have a full fbi field check. nobody checked this guy. you just put him in there. i mean, you know, it's amazing. bill: they have been able to get around the rules somehow because rather than as a permanent employee, it's like a daily hire thing. >> you are running part of the government. in many cases, some cases the should be vetted. >> to me it is an abuse of power not because of the czars themselves. just because of the number of them. if it were a few, that would be different. but i think the number that was reported was like approximately 34, if i remember correctly. steve: we got the pictures up on that wall. >> then got people talking about
7:26 am
18, this 18 that the senate wanted to talk to. my point is this. you can have a few. but when you don't have -- considering the problems that this administration has already had with the vetting process, and the fact that you have so many czars, i don't have a problem with people complaining about that. >> the reality is,. steve: there they are. >> there is no job title in the obama administration that is called czar. >> he calls them czar. >> he does call them czars. >> if you look at the criteria that people define what a czar is, actually bush had 47 of them. i think there had been. steve: over eight years. >> some claim about czars. the hypocrisy here from the leading voices who are coming after these czars when they have in the past supported czars whether it's representative darryl issa, senator bennett. lamar alexander. appointed czars in the past. >> this is irrelevant. >> this energy has to be directed to constructive

conversation. >> but it's not constructive if the argument is, well, they did it before so it's hip for bring it out. let's address the problem. >> people are scouting out. steve: jehmu we are running short of time. final word, pat. >> when you put people in who shouldn't be there because nobody can vet them who are in fact, a darren to the president lily. i think that's a problem here. and then the senate when they were going to ask him be confirmed have some oversight the white house doesn't it's a mistake. >> accountable to the president he needs them there. steve: that amendment was curtailed yesterday. jehmu and pat and steven a. excellent panel today. very, very nicely done. off we go to the green room. brian and gretchen, what do you have coming up? brian: we were enjoying the panel by listening to ear piece. more controversy coming our way. gretchen: right now a lot of muslims gathered on capitol hill

7:32 am
the first ever national day of prayer for them. others are gathering in protests. and joining us live from washington, d.c. our own caroline shively. oh my goodness. not good weather for this day of prayer, i see caroline. >> >> no, that could effect how many people show up here today, gretchen for this day of islamic unit. organizers were hoping for maybe 50,000 people. with the rain coming down pretty solidly, that number may go down a bit. we were here earlier this morning though with the first prayer of the day about 6:00. the top of your show. a few dozen people were here. they had to go down on wet grass on their prayer mats. they were here very early to get that prayer. in organizer hassan abdel la is calling on muslims to show up throughout the day. over the loud speaker during the first prayer we were actually hearing them remind people this is a prayer and not a protest. listen to the organizer abdela. >> majority of organizers in america love this country. we believe this is a great country. we appreciate the free exercise

of religion and accommodations that have been bestowed upon us, privileges, not just for muslims but for all citizens. >> but a group called americans for transparency and honesty in religion made up of christian leaders they actually sent an open letter to organizers that said in part reading now, quote: listen to tony perkins, one of the leaders of that council. >> well, i do think that if they expect americans to say oh, it's just another prayer gathering on our nation's capitol we are grateful for the benefit to being able to pray. >> it does race questions as to whether it is for the benefit of the country. >> gretchen, you mentioned a counter group. they will be in one of the house office building that day. the group stop the islamization
7:34 am
of america. here in the capitol building about 10:30 we will hear recitations of koran. starting with little kids school children being bused in and going up to scholars. back to you guys. ryan brian at least two relatively large muslim organizations staying away from this. one which is cair who we get a lot of quotes' of american muslims in the news for whatever reasons. do they have a solid reason why they are not coming? >> cair, fox actually checked with cair, they said it's not that they are staying away, necessarily, it's that they haven't been asked to be a co-sponsor. two muslim members of congress, brian, they are not set to participate today. so some folks, indeed, are staying away from. this one of the organizers we just heard from ha sam abdel la, he does have controversial attashed to his name. he is also a lawyer. in the court he has defended of a number of terrorists including someone charged in the 1993

world trade center bombing. gretchen: thanks very much for that update in washington. brian: braving the elements. steve: speaking of washington, listen, it is a boom town. the stimulus money putting a lot of people to work in washington, d.c. and, in fact, yesterday, the administration had a conference call with a bunch of governors and i think they were all on the call except for jindal of louisiana. anyway, governor jay nixon said to joe biden, who was operating the call, he said, he thanked biden for his work on the stimulus. and then mr. biden said, it's pure self-interest, jay. if it, the stimulus, -- if it fails, i'm dead. gretchen: at least he is honest because that would definitely not be a good thing for the obama administration if the stimulus thing does not work out of too well. but in the meantime some of the numbers are coming in, showing that some jobs have been created, most of them federal jobs that have been created.
7:36 am

yesterday we had the united states, the united kingdom, and france, presented detailed evidence to the ieea demonstrating that iran been building a covert enrichment facility for several years. earlier this week, the iranian government presented a letter that made reference to a new enrichment facility. years after they have started to the construction. the existence of this facility underscores iran's continuing unwillingness to meet its obligations under u.n. security council resolutions and iaea requirements. we expect the iaea to immediately investigate this and report to the board of governors.
8:45 am
iran's decision to build another facility represents a direct challenge to the basics challenge. these rules are clear. all nations have the right to peaceful nuclear energy. those nations with nuclear weapons move toward disarmament. those nations without nuclear weapons must forsake them. but compaq has largely held for decades, keeping the world far safer and secure. that depends on all nations holding up their responsibilities. this depends a growing concern that iran is refusing to live up to international responsibilities, including specifically revealing all nuclear activities. the international community knows this is not the first time that iran has conceal information about its nuclear program.
8:46 am
iran has a right to peaceful nuclear power that leads the energy needs of its people. the size and configuration of this facility is inconsistent with a peaceful program. iran is breaking rules that all nations must follow, endangering the global regime, denying its own people to access the opportunity they deserve, and threatening the stability of the region and the world. this time, for iran to act immediately to restore the confidence of the international community by filling its international obligations, we remain committed to the serious, meaningful engagement with iran to address the nuclear issue. we are committed to demonstrating that international law is not an empty progress, the obligations must be kept, and that the treaties will be
8:47 am
enforced. that is why there's a sense of urgency about the upcoming meeting on october 1 between iran, the permanent members of the u.n. security council, and germany. at that meeting, iran must be prepared to cooperate fully and comprehensively with the iaea to take concrete steps to create transparency in its nuclear program and to demonstrate that it is committed to establishing its peaceful intentions through meaningful dialogue and concrete actions. to put it simply, iran must comply with u.n. security council resolutions and make sure it is meeting its responsibilities. we have offered iran a clear path to greater international integration, if they lived up to its obligations. that offer stands. the iranian government must now demonstrate, or be held

accountable to international standards in international law. i should point out that although the united kingdom, france, and the united states made the presentation to vienna, that germany and chancellor angela merkel wishes to associate herself with these remarks. i would now like to turn to president sarkozy of france for a brief statement. >> ladies and gentlemen, we have met yesterday for a meeting of the security council on disarmament and nuclear disarmament. i repeated my conviction that iran was taking the international community on a dangerous path. i have recalled all the intent that we have made to offer a negotiated solution to the

iranian leaders without any success. what has been revealed today is exceptional. pauline the enrichment plant in 2002, -- following the enrichment plant, this is now revealed. it was designed and built over the past several years in direct violation of resolutions from the security council, and from the iaea. i am expecting from the iaea a rigorous investigation, as president obama just said. we were already in a very severe confidence crisis. we are now faced with a challenge, a challenge made to the entire international community. the six will meet with the iranian representatives in geneva. everything must be put on the table now.
8:50 am
we cannot let iranian leaders gain time while the motors are running. it is by december there is not an in depth the change by the iranian leaders, sanctions will have to be taken. this is for the peace and stability. thank you. >> america, the united kingdom, and france are odd one. iran's nuclear program is the most urgent challenge that the world faces today. the level of deception by the iranian government and the scale of what we believe is a breach of international commitment will shock and anger the whole international community. it will harden our resolve. confronted by the serial deception of many years, the
8:51 am
international community has no choice today but to draw a line in the sand. on october 1, iran must engage with the international community and joined the international community as a partner, and if it does not do so, it will be further isolated. on behalf of the united kingdom, we will not let this matter rest. we are prepared to implement further and more stringent sanctions. let the message that goes out to the world be absolutely clear. iran must abandon any military ambitions for its nuclear program. thank you. brian: the president of the united states began what would be three quick speeches. steve: a hand on the back of gordon brown on the way back. that is interesting. brian: a nuclear facility was

found, undisclosed by the iaea. it was too big to possibly be for peaceful purposes, which is energy. it is big enough for weapons. steve: they just said iran is breaking the rules. more on this throughout the day on fox. gretchen: we are tracking your taxes. william la jeunesse tells us why your hard earned cash is going to bogus productprojects.
