>> hello everybody. imrick folbaum. >> i am ainsley earhardt. toppinging the news nazi sgla z due in a brooklyn courtroom on tuesday. he is facing charges of conspireing to use weapons of mass destruction. investigators say that zazi planned to set off a massive bomb attack to mark september 11th. lawyers claim a key piece is missing from the prosecution's case. laura is live with the latest. investigators have not uncovered any of the actual bomb making materials they claim zazi was going to use in his alleged plot. they say zazi had nine pages of bomb making instructions in his

possession with his fingerprints on them and had every intention of causing serious harm. this just into fox news a photo of new york police commissioner ray kelly and other nypd officials and homeland security and counter-terrorism team members having a conference call with the president. barack obama calling this afternoon to express his appreciation and admiration for the nypd's role in disrupting the terror plot. zazi is investigated as his e-mail dispatch looking for just the right bomb making recipe became more and more urgent. you can see zazi on this surveillance tape from a beauty supply warehouse from denver colorado where they allege he purchased some of the chemicals in question in large quantities including hydrogen per rocks i'd acetone and a strong acid. he was officially indicted with c

michael fenton of illinois. he goes by the alias of talib islam. he's accused of collaborating on the attack with another under cover fbi agent. the feds say he tried to blow up a van he believed was rigged in explosives near a courthouse in illinois. he was charged with attempting to detonate a wam and murder federal officers and employees. investigators say a north carolina man arrested this summer was planning to attack the u.s. marine base in quantico, virginia. they are filing additional charges against daniel patrick boyd and alleged accomplice of conspireing to murder military personnel. they say in june boyd conducted reconnaissance of the base and had a weapon and am no ready to use. 7 men arrested in the bust. investigators believe an 8th suspect is on the lose in pakistan. iran's nuclear chief is

saying they have no problem with inspection of the ouranium facility. we have a saturday light picture. yesterday the leaders of u.s., france and britain accused of hiding it's existence from investigators for years. they could produce enriched uranium for bombs. hillary clinton spoke about the developments and up coming meeting with iran's nuclear envoy. >> we are hopeful in preparing for the meeting october 1st iran comes and shares with all of us what they are willing to do and giveings us a timetable on what they are willing to proceed. >> julie kirtz is live. what do we know about this newly disclosed facility? >> we have the new satellite photos although not independently confirmed by fox. they are from a washington group today.

they are in a military base outside of the holy city south of tehran not far from the other big nuclear site once kept secret as well. it is big enough to house 300 sent fujs more than needed for basic research. the iranians say there is nothing secret about the site. it was never mentioned in the years of negotiations during iran's nuclear programming. >> iran is saying they are willing to open it up. >> word from iran today is they will let u.s. inspectors in and soon but haven't issued any timetable to date. they didn't say they would be able to monitor the situation.

she joins us and republican strategist doug high is former communications director for michael steele and doug will join us momentarily. let me start with you, liz. this announcement with sarkozy and prime minister brown dramatic stuff out of pittsburgh with the announcement of this new secret site. does that score points for this president? >> i don't think it scores points because it is really bad news they have been doing this in secret under the u.n.'s noses. but the president sitting next to france and great britain is tough. he will not put up with it. he will make tough sanctions i believe it's the right thing for him to do. >> people are look at the president and wondering if he is layinging down the law with mahmoud ahmadinejad.

we saw a scathing attack. it came from benjamin netanyahu. he came down really strongly against the iranians. is president obama being tough enough when it comes to the iranians? >> interesting. i think that he is doing the right thing for what we know now. i expect him to be much tougher during the days and weeks as we learn about the program as inspectors get in there to learn more about what's is going on what the intentions were for those weapons even though we have a pretty good idea and we will have the president much much tougher during the days and weeks. >> we have a microphone on doug high. he has the cameras. >> we are raiding president obama on foreign policy this week. there's a lot going on.

>> we don't really know yet. certainly there will be no problem for republicans about any president of the united states republicans or democrat talking tough on iran. something they were worried about during the campaign. it was something clinton warned us about in the primary against par about barack obama. he will have support if he is tough on ahmadinejad and iraq. this is something we need to see real presidential leadership on. it it was gordon brown and sarkozy was a powerful statement but we need to see actions followed up on that. that is what we are waiting for. >> we saw a handshake between israeli and palestinian leaders while our president stood there he got the two men together for a nice photo op. what do you think about this president finally being the one the president who is able to work out a lasting peace deal these two countries not one

country and one people can agree on. is the president doing that? >> it was a first step. it has been quiet for way too long. it is time for the united states to step in in this leadership role. how many presidents have had difficulty if not utmost failure with bringing these two parties together. this has been going on for decades. they have to make major concessions to reach a real peace agreement neither side is ready to do that yet. >> do they seem skeptical of president obama. his approval ratings are in the single digits. can the president get israelis to move towards the type of compromises that need to be made if they don't trust him? >> that's a real challenge for

them. >> they are really trouble some to the people of israel. part of it is the rhetoric that has been more pro arab thaven pro israel. the israeli lobby is powerful in the democratic party here. ifs something that shows broad support form. can he do it? part of the problem that any president faces is you look at what is going on this week and they don't want to look at healthcare. the president can only plan so much. something happens with israel and iraq we are not talking about healthcare this week and that's a challenge. >> let me try to get you both to limit the answer to the question to a couple. i want to hit on one more topic, afghanistan the general on the ground is about to formally ask

soldiers over come disabilities to accomplish things they may never have been possible. mary ann i have been watching your reports on this. what kinds of activities do they have going on down there? >> they are doing things that a lot of them have never done before or have not done since they were injured. some of the soldiers or marines were injured this summer. they do things like kayaking, water-skiing which is amazing for some of these injured veterans who have limited mobility. they may be paralyzed or may have had an amputation or when they are skiing they can either sit down or stand-up. it shows them they can still do a lot of things that they may have thought they couldn't do any more. they are still chasinging them around with paint balls. they picked up arrival and did target practice. one former soldier i talked to

said he hadn't done that since he was in the army. he was injured in iraq four years ago and lost an eye. since then he has had to learn to shoot with a different hand or different arm and he got to do a little bit of that here. it's just a lot activities and a chance to spend time with their families which are one of the most important things about this because they are able to reconnect with some of the family members. >> little bit of target practice for fun little bit of water-skiing. that's probably the least we can do for these men who have given so much to her country. what have they told you about how they take the experiences that they have there where you are right now and translate them into their everyday lives? how do they do that? >> they get to come here and they don't pay for it. they are brought here by the lakeshore foundation. they put this on. they have been doing this this is the 4th year now. the main thing is they learn that there are things that they thought they couldn't do. they aren't limited necessarily. they can take these things back like water-skiinging for

instance some of the guys water-ski for the first time and went wow i didn't know i could do that i am going to do that with my family when i get back home. it's another way they can reconnect and get reacquainted with their family members as well. they said that's one of the hardest things after you have been through rehabilitation and you have had a terrible injury that you are trying to recover from maybe losing a limb or losing an eye to try to get reacquainted with your family and try to understand what they are going through as well. >> pass along our thanks. we appreciate the report. mary ann silver, thanks so much. flash floods again threatening a part of america devastated by high waters this week. a new storm drenching the southeast with 6 inches of rain. folks saying their homes rivers and roads can't take much more but it might get worse before it gets better. >> first with cutting edge

the forecast shows more storms on the way this weekend. the national weather service already putting out warnings. flash flood might hit that region. meteorologist mary of accu-weather is live for us. >> hey, certainly not the best type of news especially for residents trying to get things back to normal after getting hit so hard last weekend. there is good news on the way. we will get back to that in a moment. they are tracking fairly quickly. we are seeing a line of thunderstorms in birmingham toward atlanta. unfortunately areases of eastern tennessee. that's prompted flash flood watches in effect across east tennessee up towards parts of virginia. the good news is we are going to get a break from all of this rain. that as the front pushes towards the coast. there will be drier air building in that will allow for some some sunshine and there's some level of relief for people trying to recover from after the heavy downpours. the wet weather has kept up. looking at average low 70s in

afghanistan. what do you think the president should do? >> i think he should send more people or you should get out. this is as critical junk tour in the road. it's black or white situation we are either going to see it through or we are going to withdraw it at some point. i think it's incumbent on people like the viets president to determine what the end state is in afghanistan if they are supposing half steps at the moment. >> all of these decisions as you well know have several different components. there is of course the military components but there is a political component as well. polls will show that americans don't want to see us send more troops over to afghanistan. how do you sort of weigh those two things to come up with the right answer? >> well, i think the country is war weary. there's no question about that having fought in two fronts for five and eight years respec re e respectively. but i guess i would say that to

you, if the president were as inspired about doing the right thing in afghanistan as he is about fixing healthcare system, he could rally the american people to a side and i think intuitively most americans know it's the right thing to do. but they are tired and they want leadership. >> you mentioned the two fronts where we have been waging war for a long time now. realistically if we wanted to send troops to afghanistan, is our military stretch too thin to be able to do that effectively? >> it would put a continuing stress on the force. also no question about that. the force is bigger at the moment. the variable is the amount of dwell time the amount of time soldiers have at home before they have to go on the next tour.

yes, you are correct the force has been stressed for a number of years. >> all say that they are going to listen to their commanders on the ground. they are going to make the decisions based on what they are hearing they have put them on the front line to give them that kind of information. it doesn't work out that way, does it? >> no. the politicians have the final say. when they look at the chess board look at other issues other than afghanistan and iraq that's our system for better or worse. i think we are as we said before in a critical juncture we have our best people there. there have never been better generals than petraeus and mccrystal. they know what to do to win. the question is do we have the political will and leadership to

do that? >> i don't know whether you were able to see the reporters they are reportinging on a camp where men and women who have returned from the front lines disabled are able to go and spend time with families and will do things too recuperate and enter into civil life now. if we don't finish the job in afghanistan, what does it mean, what will it mean for those men and women who are at the camp in alabama and those who have given so much to this effort only to see it not go through. >> i think your question answer it is self i am involved in a similar camp like that called camp patriot up in the rockies to do exactly the same thing. it's a wonderful thing and does help those recuperating and their families. but to answer your question directly, it shows them that

their sacrifices were a waste. some think of a career in the military. they give up life or limb and political leadership are going to lose the focus or its will or going to change the priorities. we are not really serious about that any more. your contribution was appreciated. essentially meaningless. >> general tim hagan special operations command. great to hear you thoughts on this, sir. it's a difficult topic and one that we will be talking more about. we appreciate you coming on and joining us today. >> thank you for having me. >> who says crime doesn't pay? it is saving taxpayers a few buck. roadside workers are on loan from the osceola county jail. they are hoping to trim the landscape and helping the county trim it's budget. but not all of the work is done

outdoors. phil keating has more on the special pet project. >> ha had the four-day old kitt been born one day early they would have had no shelter. over the past year they have laid off 20 percent of the work force due to budget cuts forcing the county to close the animal shelter. >> but now it's back open thanks to lies prisoners. nonviolent offenders on day loan for the county jail. secondly it provide the inmates an opportunity to get them integrated back into it. >> the inmates are also beautifying public eye sores. the inmate labor the county takes care of select county services. for the inmates every 30-days they spend working outside of the prison walls they shave five days off their sentences. >> chain gangs doing road work is nothing new.

mike quincy of consumer reports joins us. i want to know what makes it a muscle car? >> the term muscle car came from the 1960s and 1970s. they took an average sized sedan made it a two-door model and put a big congressing v8 engine. >> you know why guys do that muscle to attract women. that's why guys want cars like this. oo tell us about the camaro? >> what we love about this camaro is consumer reports says it has great horse power fun handling and it is legions better than all of the old muscle cars. the 1960s camaros we tested way back when went 0 to 60 in about 10 seconds. this new 2009 camaro goes 0-60 in five seconds.
