supporters of the health-care plan, an all-time low. rush limbaugh has a theory. >> support for health care falls to a new low, 42% who now favre obama care, 62% support it. -- favor obama care. now, if you want to know why this thing does not get implemented until 2013, here is your answer. he is going to wait until after the 2012 election to make sure any of this stuff is implemented, because once it hits, once the reality of it hits, he is going to have a popular revolt on his hands, and he was 3 years or four years, of his presidency left -- keyboards three or four years -- he wants three or four years of his

presidency left. obama knows we do not want to be part of it. he knows we do not want to be part of it. to be implemented soon after it was signed into law, he can kiss his reelection in 2012 good-bye. greta: joining us live is a congressman, the ranking republican on the house intelligence committee. the evening, congressman. >> hi, greta. greta-- good evening, congressm. greta: it has been pretty much constant for the last couple of months. why do you think that? >> well, i think the number is staying where it is, and it is not improving for the president because the more that people learn about this plan, the less they like it. the second thing is they do not like the process. as rush was just saying, it will

be four years to implement this plan, but nancy pelosi and those in the house make a mockery of this process by saying they will not even be given 72 hours to review this bill, and then i think the most dangerous thing for the president, i think the american people are losing faith for him to be able to lead the nation on this issue and on other issues, and the best example of that is the decision that i think has been made and was made public in the last day or so saying general mcchrystal sends a plan for afghanistan to secretary gates, it is going to sit on a shelf until the president reaches a decision on a new strategy, but at the end of the week, he is willing to go to copenhagen for a pitch for the olympics in chicago, so people are wondering about this president having his priorities mixed up. greta: the thing that caught my

attention is that, apparently, general mcchrystal, and the number of days he has been in this position, as only spoken to the president a couple of times, and he is the commander in afghanistan, and i think that caught my attention more, because who would know the story better than the guy who is actually there? >> that is actually right. greta: go ahead, sir. >> that is exactly right. you have got the commander in chief who has only talked to the commander, a few times in the last six or seven months. that is unbelievable when we have troops in harm's way, and things are not going well. greta: let's go back to this health-care issue. the majority of americans would like to have available to them the program that the members of congress have. what is it? do you know how much you are paying for? >> my health plan is the same as

all other federal employees. i can go through a thick manual and take a look at what plans are available in michigan, and i can take a look at what plans are available in western michigan, and i can choose among those three or four plants, and i will give you the exact details, -- among those three or four plans, and i think i pay around $300 or more a month, but i think that would be great to compare the members of congres'' plans to some private-sector plans so we can see how good the congressional plan is. people always talk about this, but i think this is an area, we can really dig down into, and i think it would be interesting, and i think people would be surprised. i am not complaining, but i think it would not be quite as good as people think it to be. greta: going back over to the

transparency issue, people would seem to think that that is a good standard, whatever members of congress have. i do not know what the matching federal payment is. >> greta, we will get this information and have it for you in a week. greta: the other item, and i think this is what it's the american people most of all, i think the american people would like to see this bill put on the internet -- i think this is what gets the american people most of all. you are going to vote on it, but we should all be able to see it, and it takes nothing to put it on the internet so we could all see it. >> we should have the minimum of 72 hours. that is what we are asking for. that would give everyone in america the opportunity to see at least some of what is in the bill. the people who write this bill can really very some things in it, but we would have a good idea -- can really barry -- bur

y some things in it. greta: the judges are called activist because they cannot figure it out, and then we have more troubles. it might be good to write it so that we can all understand it. >> that is exactly what we should do. greta: thank you, sir. thank you, sir. >> greta, thank you. greta: some democrats think illegal immigrants should get medical coverage in the new health-care bill, not legal immigrants. some people have written letters to speaker pelosi. it said illegal immigrants should buy into a government-run health-care plan. why? a congressman is signed the plan joins us. why should illegal people here in the united states have the ability to buy into the program -- a congresswoman who signed

the plan joins us. >> good evening. first of all, let me say that nancy pelosi has already committed to the question you posed in the last section, that it will be, the legislation, on the internet for the american people to save for at least 72 hours before they vote on it. greta: the senate is what i am grumbling about, and i certainly am grateful to speaker pelosi on that, so you are actually right. >> and as the bill comes back from the senate in a conference, the american people will have the opportunity to see the full and final bill, as well, but over the past weekend, in my city, the fourth largest city in the nation, a famous personality but a medical professional dr. oz was here holding an open session, and to thousand people came to get -- and 2,000 people showed up to

get health care. this is to ensure that all americans, all individuals within our boundaries, are required to buy health insurance. the more the merrier, and the healthier the merrier, because that will provide for resources to self pay for all of the americans who have catastrophic illnesses and sicknesses and long-term chronic illnesses that need health insurance. greta: here is what i do not understand. americans, yes, they should be able to, at least in my opinion, have access to whatever bill. people legally in the united states. people who are illegally in the united states, what are they even here? if we can identify them for insurance purposes, maybe we can identify them to get them out of here, and if they want to come back illegally, they can, and maybe they should get the boot to or end up in jail for

violating the law. why should they be part of the largess of the american people in terms of health-care insurance? >> i will answer that since texas as the largest number of people of uninsured. houston county has the largest number of individuals in a city that are not insured, but the premise is that the more people in the system, the more they will be a burden, and the answer to your question is his illness and disease and epidemics are not a respecter of status. the premise of what i signed the letter for is that it allows for those in this country may be undocumented to buy insurance in exchange that is unsubsidized, so they are using their own money. this is not something where the federal government is paying for it. this is where individuals are allowed to buy the insurance. greta: congresswoman, here is

the problem read to do that, we become a there's and abettors for people -- here is the problem. to do that, we become aiders and abettors. >> these are valid points, and i know these will be raised by the american people. criminal aliens, people who are here to do us harm x -- as you know, we have another challenge before us to fix the broken system -- people who are here to do us harm. they are returned back to their country. but what we are dealing with right now are millions of individuals who are working and paying taxes, and they are in this country, and if there is immigration reform, they may end up getting access to being here. i do not think we can wait for 18,000 people to die because

they do not have insurance. we cannot wait another 60 years, and, frankly, there are too many people dying because they do not have insurance, and we have a h1n1 pandemic, and i believe americans are sensible enough to know that we are already paying for, in essence, uncompensated care for citizens or non- citizens who go into hospitals and do not have insurance. we cannot wait, and the only promise that i signed the letter, he and others likewise signed the letter, for healthy individuals to come in and buy insurance on subsidized by any federal dollars, so, really, -- unsubsidized by any federal dollars, and we do not ask for their status. greta: no. 1, if something is catastrophic, we always accept them at the emergency room, and if someone is in a bad car

murder. i watched people say that. i thought it was crackpot then, and i think it was a crackpot now, and people have been saying things like that about president bush. avastin and of people disagree with any president are ordinary people -- a vast amount of people who disagree with any president are ordinary people. by the way, i think the former president is giving the right wing, whatever that is, way too much credit. i think is well known that conservatism has been not well coordinated. greta: is there a vast left-wing conspiracy out there? or has there been? >> on both sides, there are rich people who help fund political movements, right? they fund think tanks. is that a conspiracy? no, it is a group of like-minded

people in both sides. you are allowed to do that. greta: having a different philosophy and disagreeing and just getting down and dirty, is that just not where the creeps are? >> there are a ton of creeps in politics. i do not have to tell you one. you are here. you were never a creep. this is self-defeating, and smart people know that. we have seen the pendulum swing back and forth, but most people object extremism. if you say something like that, people write you off. greta: at least if you step up to it and identify yourselves. >> if you say it on television, i will respect you, even if you are crazy. greta: and sometimes, we all are. tucker, st. you. it is not just the iranian uranium enrichment plant --

greta: for the uranium enrichment and the meeting coming up this week, and the missiles they were testing today, but one thing that i do not hear much about is the iranian tentacles around the world but they have business interests in venezuela, senecal. they are building up around the world. >> there is support for terrorism, but their connection in venezuela is very worrying. venezuela, will ship them refined petroleum products, which they need, which will break any sanctions, and they have things they can sell to iran for the nuclear program. they can have weapons deals with each other, so there are a lot of possibilities there, none of them good. greta: giving them technology for this nuclear weapon. >> going back some years, china clearly was. now, they denied any reason dealings with either nuclear

technology -- the last 10 years, but there are a lot of scientists, especially from the former soviet union who are out of work now if you have probably found their way to iran, with some high-paying jobs in the nuclear ballistic missile field. greta: what about a.q. khan? a big supplier? >> a.q. khan was a big supplier. there is no doubt about it. we know he supplied things to north korea and libya, and there is every reason to believe he did that to iran, as well. greta: if sanctions are imposed, and the talks do not go well this week, do you expect help, and secondly, do you think the iranian people thinking it is us doing something to them or their own government doing something to them? >> well, i think even if another sanctions resolution can be obtained from the security council, it will be just as water down as the first three,

and i do not see sanctions succeeding. let's take a look at what the sanctions should do, stop them from doing in these weapons. can they get iran off of the nuclear path? , i do not see that happening. for i think with the dissent in the streets of iran after the fraudulent june 12 election, the iranian people are sophisticated enough to know that the islamic revolution, ahmadinejad and all of the ayatollahs, not them. >greta: with the june 12 election, we saw all of the discord in the streets, and if that is true, then there could be impact. >> inside and outside iran. i think anything we can do to explain where the problem is, and it is particularly with the leadership, the regime would be helpful. greta: what kind of sanctions would you suggest? >> i do not think sanctions

would work. greta: what do you think will come out of it if sanctions are voted? >> i think banking sanctions may be some, tightening of trade restrictions. i think it is very unlikely that security council who will pass an embargo on the exporters' supplies of petroleum into iran, and if you do not get this worldwide, there will be -- greta: if it is not hermetically sealed or cut off the country. >> exactly. greta: let's go to honduras. >> more good news. greta: honduras, the interim leader there, they have the ousted leader who is holed up in the embassy there. the interim leader has apparently shut down some media. that is not good. my characterization, you have a bizarre telephone call from the ousted leader from the brazilian embassy to the u.n. >> that is the first time i have

for that kind of address to the u.n. general assembly, but i think the behavior of zelaya before that has raised some questions. he says he is being besieged in the embassy by israel in mercenaries who are firing some kind of rays on him to affect his health, and that is delusional, and this goes to the idea that he had napoleonic aspirations in honduras, but more specifically, by saying that the israelis are after him, i think we are seeing a real street of anti-semitism -- he did not say they are gruesbeck mercenaries. it is the jews, -- it is not like they say they are other mercenaries. it could be somebody who is probably anti-semitic. we ought to know more about that, and i think the state department should be pressed on that point. greta: why should the u.s. care

about honduras? they are a small country. they are -- is a because they are our friends? >> honduras, like a lot of other latin american countries, they fear strongtdú( + it really can affect the security of the united states. this is a much bigger issue than people think. if we look at hugo chavez, and we think the man is a clown. he might be a clown, but he is worse than that. he is a threat, and we have to

greta: do you want to be young forever? well, you may want to rethink

that answer. unemployment is a whopping 18%. that is much, much worse than the total unemployment rate of over 9%. joining us is steve moore, an editorial writer for "the wall street journal." >> the young and the jobless. i have two teenage boys, so i can relate to this story. one out of four are looking for a job. we have a record low number of teenagers who are actually working today, and since the 1930's, the great depression, only half of the teenagers are working, which is a bad thing, because i am a big believer that when a teenager gets a job as a cashier or raking leaves, that is a good and productive thing for america, and the evidence shows that when teenagers work when they are young, they have higher earnings potential when they are older. they actually gain skills. we have seen a big surge in the

last couple of months for the unemployment rate for teenagers, and that is because congress raised the minimum wage, and i can say that i do not think they are worth of that is, $7.50 an hour. i know these kids. greta, they will never get a job now if anybody is watching. >> $4.50 dollars for a minimum- wage. >> so you think it is the minimum wage and not the fact of the economy? >> the teenage unemployment rate has gone up even faster than the unemployment rate for adults, and especially as it applies to young people, because what you're doing, greta, you are cutting off the jobs. i mean, do you remember your first job? greta: i worked at a bakery, and i put things in bags so they could take them to the bank.

i hated it. >> exactly, and my first job was working at a factory, and i remember being a senior in high schools thinking, "i do not want to do this the rest of my life," so it motivated me to go to college -- being a senior in high school. greta: what is the expectation? >> there is some good news. unemployment claims are down. it went up to 9.7%, and there were a lot of comments that we would go past 10%. greta: there are some, mich. about 15%, and nevada is up there. so i guess when the numbers come out on friday, we should not look at the national number but the individual states, too. >> nevada, california.

florida has a high unemployment rate. the states who were overbuilding in housing, are now seeing the most on entwinement. -- overbuilding in housing are now seeing the most unentwinement. -- unemployment. this is the biggest conundrum. we have got a falling dollar, a rising budget deficits, but this has been going crazy. -- a rising budget deficit. greta: people use the stock market as some kind of measure as to how the economy is doing, but you have money if you're in the stock market. if you are hovering around the minimum wage level, and you are looking for a job, it does not bring any kind of sense that this is a good situation. >> a recovery is when you get the jobs back. for the vast majority of americans.

greta: why it is the market having a rally? >> the other thing is that the credit crisis is over. brigadoon banks are not lending. >> they are able to circulate money -- greta: banks are not lending. >> they are able to circulate money. the worry that we were going to see major, major bank failures, the dominant factor, that is gone for now, so that is the good news. greta: i read over the weekend about zero woman who has been unemployed for a number of months, -- i read over the weekend about a woman who has been unemployed for a number of months, and she went to milwaukee for an interview, and she spent $10 on gasoline, and the people for the interview did not show up, and she wasted the $10 on gasoline. >> when smart businesses start to thrive again, and this has been my complaint about the stimulus bill, we have been

doing nothing to help small businesses, and a huge amount of new jobs come from the small businessman. the baker. greta: is nothing being done for the small businessman in the stimulus? >> no. it was big automotive companies, big insurance companies, and a lot of government jobs, but there was nothing. there is more money in the stimulus for national endowment for the arts than in small business tax cuts. greta: we are going to run out of stimulus money at some point. >> they have not spent it all. i actually think they should stop spending the stimulus money. greta: it jobs are created typically by small businesses -- >> yes. greta: and we are not doing anything to help small businesses, that is serious. >> i would think so. i wish washington understood. by the way, the worst thing to do right now is raise taxes, on the small businesses, like in

greta: bank of america is under fire for hiding $3.60 billion in bonuses from shareholders has just announced it is suspending its work with acorn, and they say they are not going to do any more business with them until their review is complete. joining us is a managing editor for "the washington times," and, of course, the question that goes there everyone's minds, what took bank of america so long? >> well, bank of america was whacked by three members from the house financial services committee. the three of them wrote to all 14 of the financial institutions that had been working with acorn. acorn has an affiliate called acorn housing, with 250 or so employees around the country. they offer advice to poor people about how to avoid foreclosure on their homes, so they were close with lenders, like bank of

america. greta: not saying that acorn is a crack, or whatever, but there are enough red flags, and then u.s. bank of america and their $3.60 billion in bonuses, he tried to settle with the sec, and some jenna bush -- and their $3.60 billion in bonuses, and they try to settle with the sec, and some judge said no. it was a little late. they should have been doing them when they are tossing out the cash. >> acorn has also been receiving tens of millions of dollars over the years from the federal government to provide this kind of foreclosure counseling, and so, i am sure the federal government -- they looked at the situation of people who came before them and suggested pay at

periods, i believe, things like that -- and suggested pay out periods. there was the u.s. house voted to cut off all funding for acorn. that should have been a leading indicator to bank of america, which has $45 billion of u.s. backing through the tarp fund, that because they had so much federal tax money, maybe they should be careful about where that money is going. greta: bank of america executives, because it was not taxpayer money, that they care about shareholder money? these are people to shelled out $3.60 billion during the takeover of merrill lynch -- visa the people who shelled that money out. -- these are the people. >> i know that is a rhetorical question. i think bank of america is not

going to be the last of the bank's -- banks that will abandon acorn housing. what we have seen up to this point is the federal government turning its back on a court because of the videos, which i know your viewers know very well -- turning its back on acorn because of the videos. their private sector partners -- that is real trouble for acorn, as if they did not have enough already. greta: there are a lot of people who could use foreclosure advise. there in lies the real crime. they could to acorn or somebody else for advice -- there are a lot of people who could use foreclosure and vice -- advice. therein lies the real crime. >> the purpose is to help people who are impoverished or who have

little means and therefore do not have people to speak for them, but that has grown over the years into something that its critics say has become quite a disorganization. greta: these as shareholders and bank of america or people who have their savings wrapped up in bank of america, and they would expend bank of america to not be dishing out these bonuses. maybe they are good bonuses, but they hid them from the shareholders. you would think that they are carefully monitoring them, not just writing checks which the shareholders' -- which of the shareholders -- with the shareholders' money. anyway, jeff, thank you. and there is big news here tonight in washington about a controversial national security program. four democratic senators would issue legislation that would retroactively repeal immunity for companies that worked with the government on its

warrantless wiretapping program. right now, the companies have immunity for any violation of privacy, but that could change as the following senators get their way. senator chris dodd, wes feingold, and others. they are introducing this legislation. they are looking to see if their customers and rights were violated. we will let you know. and up next, the best of the rest. get that machine out. an f bomb that dropped on tv. he didn't prove do not look at me. i did not do it. -- i did not do it. do not look at me. and hugo chavez. speaking of girlfriends, the most famous polar bear and the world has a new girlfriend.
