2:00 am
until then, keep it he here on fox news channel. the o'reilly factor is next. good night from pensacola, florida. from outside of the court house. loser look at the elections, what's at stake and what it could mean for a power change in washington. see you then. >> welcome to the glenn beck program. i've been away for a week, miss me? the economy is not really looking any better. i wish it was, but i want to point out a couple of things that you need to know. the imf is selling gold like crazy and it's the smart money. can't believe i'm saying the smart money is in bangladesh, but it is, bangladesh, just bought ten metric tons, the reason, the central banks want to get away from what they're calling the unstable dollar so they're turning to gold. now, why, why would anyone think the american dollar wouldn't be the gold standard anymore? well, apparently a lot of people don't think that. treasuries dropped for the fourth day in a row. and poverty rate here in
2:01 am
america jumped a record amount in just the last year. one in seven americans are now considered poor. it is the largest single jump since tracking began back in 1959. and lastly, our debt, our debt is the real problem. it's been coming for a very long time. i have told you about our debt being over 130 trillion dollars with the unfunded liability. but that apparently is crazy because the real number is much, much lower according to forbes magazine. i saw this in, what is it, it's the national review online, they were looking at the national debt and they said, let's take a look at this. kevin williamson wrote this. let's just say that forbes was right and it's only 70 trillion dollars, when that article was written, all of the money in the world couldn't pay off that debt, literally. the entire world's money supply, which includes global
2:02 am
m-3, that means everything, everything, consumer cash, consumer bank accounts, checking accounts, cd's, long-term deposits, travelers checks, money market funds, everything globally, 60 trillion dollars. so the optimistic view that our federal debt is 10 trillion dollars higher than the entire annual economic input of human civilization, it's really not that optimistic. glad i'm back yet? here is the good news, i have good news for you, i have clarity and a little bit of perspective and a few rants i've got to get off my chest. tonight, i'm going to show you how we get out of this mess. come on, let's go. okay. hello america. welcome to the program.
2:03 am
i want to talk to you about a couple of things, the economy, the media, the media i like as much as woodrow wilson, the koran burning and then the next thing using 9/11. i come to a weekend where i don't care anymore about what anybody says, what the press says or anything else, it's time to move on. they're in our rear view mirror and it's really becoming, i mean, almost sad. it really is. i want to start with the koran burning. i'm on a vacation, driggs idaho, going out to fish with my five-year-old son and a friend of mine and i hear a call from the house, honey, the pakistani ambassador wants you to denounce the koran burnings. i'm like, what? hello? well, my response was tell him
2:04 am
i already did two days ago. and i'm going fishing now. it was bizarre. that's one of the only things i commented on on the blaze.com, was the koran burning. i mean, what an idiot. what an idiot. there are things you can do in america, but things you shouldn't do in america. well, as it turns out, the idiot down in florida didn't do it. so why? well, because i think in the end people are good and people just need an excuse to be good. they just need to be shown how to do good and go i have an excuse to do good. i don't know if that guy is any good and i don't know anything about him honestly other than that was a stupid move, but who is using that story for political gain, for power and for money? how many stories did the media do on the koran burning?
2:05 am
probably the same number of stories that they ran on the hatred of 8-28. except that happened over months that they said, oh, glenn beck is going to desecrate the lincoln memorial. glenn beck is going to stir up hate. there's going to be violence. you know, he's going to desecrate the memory of mlk. did anybody notice none of that happened? did anybody notice that none of the stuff from the koran burning thing happened? you know, i think we should, i think we should just notice here that the media is getting things wrong a lot. i mean, not like kind of wrong, but really wrong all the time. and i think it's because they're now engaging in future news. you know what i mean? it's future news. here is what's going to happen tomorrow, america. why don't you tell me what just happened? why don't you get that one right and maybe tell us what's going to happen? see, i'm not a journalist, i'm
2:06 am
a commentator and i'm telling you my opinion. it seems the media is doing now, telling everybody their opinion. all right. so the koran thing didn't happen. the 8-28 thing that didn't turn into a race riots, it's weird, isn't it? and then the latest this weekend, i was up in alaska, i don't know if-- intellectually you can understand this, but until of' actually flown there, you have no idea how far away alaska is. i'm up in alaska and i've been hired by a company to give a speech and sarah palin calls and she says, hey, i'm going to be in town, do you mind if i introduce you? i'm like, no, that'd be great. she did it because she's a friend. she went and she introduced. she didn't ask for any fee or anything else. i apologized to her because this thing turned into a nightmare and it's me doing my job. i go and i give a speech and people pay me for, i know, crazy, people pay me to speak
2:07 am
and people pay to come and hear me speak. it's great. so, first when this was announced i think a couple days before i went on vacation, the media started in that palin and beck are going to announce that we're running. yeah. don't be afraid america, me in the oval office, things are going to change. no, we're not running, no. but the media had to run with that. they had all kinds of things they were saying. then it was the hate tour. and then they finally found into something, they ran into, oh, my goodness, it's 9/11. 9/11. glenn beck can't speak on 9/11. just like i couldn't speak on 8-28. can i get a list from the media exactly what dates i can work? 'cause i don't know. i'm not sure. i'm not sure. is cadbury exploiting jesus christ by selling chocolate on
2:08 am
easter? what are we doing? now we're exploiting 9/11. look, i'm not exploiting 9/11, sarah palin wasn't exploiting 9/11. it's 9/11 and may i ask the newspapers, did they return-- i was going to ask them if they returned the profits they made on the newspapers that they sold on 9/11, but then again, it's a newspaper or the magazine or the mainstream media and there are no profits anymore because you suck. exploiting 9/11. okay. i want to set a few things straight here and then we are going to move on. and this isn't-- don't flatter yourself, media, that i'm speaking to you. i'm speaking to the american people here because this really hacked me off. we have to set things right in this country. we have to-- we have to continue as a country, isn't that our goal? continue as a country, and there's a lot of us that don't
2:09 am
think we will very much longer. did you see the national debt? we have to ring the bell, but we have to ring it equally, equally, on all issues. no matter who is in office, we have to ring the bell. but it is important to meet on the battlefield of ideas and engage with each other. actually have a dialog. not between one personality and another, but american citizens having a dialog. you wait until i show you what's happening later on the program. look, i don't have a side. my side is the idea of what was called the american experiment. it was an experiment. now, are we going to move past it and say, yep, it failed or are we going to take the things that we learned, take the best of those ideas and continue to go forward for our next great leap for our children and our grandchildren? well, the ideas that built america are being lost and perverted. one of them is it the free
2:10 am
market system. do i make money? yes. am i ashamed of it? no, i'm not. are you ashamed of it? i think the media and the celebrities, i think they are ashamed of the money. they can give up all the money they want, but i'm not ashamed of it and you shouldn't either. i'm going to have a conversation with you here for about three minutes on this and i'm not saying this for any other reason other than to make sure that you understand what you're up against. there is an effort in this country to dismantle the free market system. well, i believe in the free market system and i think you do, too. you give a man a chance to better himself and his children and he will push himself. he will workday and night. he will have sleepless nights, he will do everything we can, especially if he has an idea and something in his heart that he believes in. he will work tirelessly because he believes in it and it will do great things for him and his family and his
2:11 am
community. why did people come here? did they come on boats because, oh, it's just like every place else? no. they came here for opportunity. it's the land of opportunity, not guarantees, opportunity. to keep the bread earned through the sweat of your brow. what was the civil rights movement about? the dream was about giving everybody a chance, a chance. give me a shot, man. don't judge me on the color of my skin, but on the content of my character. give me a chance. everywhereles you needed to be in a gild, you needed to be in a special union, be a part of special interest, you had to know somebody. not here. do not be shamed into thinking that the american idea is bad, that you can better yourself. it transformed the world in
2:12 am
under a hundred years and here is the basic concept behind it. time is money. why is it money? because money, we attach value. your time is of value, so is mine. i think it was on the first show, what was one of the proms i made to you? i told you that this show would be different because i would never waste your time. we have tried really hard not to do that. one time i know we violated, do you remember the slumber party guy? do you remember, why go that fast-- >> yeah, that clown. what did i say after that show? do you have the tape? >> what did i say on that show? this is what i said, watch. >> america, i'm going to shoot straight with you, i think i've wasted your time.
2:13 am
i think this is the first time i have wasted an hour of your time and i apologize for that. okay, why would i do that? i heard from so many people i've never seen anybody do that on tv. why? why? it shocked me that people would say, i can't believe he said that. i respect you. i respect the value of an hour. you can choose to do a lot of things in an hour. so can i. i choose to do with my time what i want to do. well, i'm on vacation and first i hear the pakistani ambassador. how does the pakistani ambassador even-- how does he even know who i am? then i hear that my pr firm, 'cause i ain't answering the phone and time issue, my pr firm releases information that
2:14 am
said glenn beck's going to donate his money for this speech. i was smoked that they said that. not because it's true, it's absolutely true, but it's none of their business and the more i thought of it, the more it made me angry because of what you might think. i wanted to have this chat with you today and i want to tell you, i am not ashamed of the free market system. i am not ashamed that i was poor and now i am not. i was poor, i was rich, i screwed my life up, i was poor again, and i built it from scratch. the reason why i tell you that is not to boast, but to convince you that you, too, can do it. see, this is the game we're playing now. you can't do that, oh, the system is set up against you.
2:15 am
bull crap! you can do it. let me tell you what happened. i made a promise to myself, myself, when i made a promise to you on the radio about a year ago. i was going to do 8-28 and i said, i promise you that i will not gouge your eyes out. i promise that i won't bend things frivolously. i know the value of your time and i know the value of your money. 8-28 was paid for by donation. i showed you somebody that gave me eight cents. do you think i hold eight cents in my hand and know what that meant and then just go, spend it frivolously? i never told you this because quite honestly, it was a promise to myself, but i'll tell you this now for the only reason, the only reason, to
2:16 am
make sure you understand i am not ashamed of making money. when i made my promise to you when i asked my radio audience to help pay for 8-28, i told you i wouldn't waste your time. i told you you would experience you never-- i told you that in the beginning of real change and miracles would happen, but i also told you i would not waste your money. well, when i asked sarah palin, the press ripped her apart for a year. how much is sarah palin being paid to speak? zero is the answer. zero. she never even asked. zero. well, who's paying for her air fare? i didn't. i paid for the air fare, i paid for the security. do you have any idea what security costs for 8-28? for three people who could have lost their lives?
2:17 am
there were ten hotels that i personally, out of my pocket, i'm not saying this to boast, i'm telling you the facts. let's just say i just got the american express bill that i am gladly paying for. i think i could buy a small country with the coin. why did i do it? because i'm not going to waste your money on that. i'm not going to ask you to give eight cents and then put people up with those eight cents in hotel rooms that you couldn't stay in? but i can't ask sarah palin to fly from alaska, did i mention how far away it is. fly from alaska and then not have a great place for her to come ap just relax because she's not getting paid for it. i'm not going to do that. i paid for it. but i'm not a charitable organization. i spend more on research. this program, i bet i lose
2:18 am
money personally on this program because i pay for research. fox pays for research, but i hire people myself. i spend more on research on my radio show more than anybody else in the history of broadcast radio, history. i employ 40 people in new york city. i have the best health insurance for everybody. nobody pays a deductible. it's the best that money can buy. i'm told that the insurance that i pay for my employees is actually, i'm the only one in new york still buying it. because it's too expensive. but i believe in treating people right. my choice. i never intended on telling you any of these things, but i want you to know. it's none of their business, but obviously it's none of yours. my financial advisors tell me i am stupid to put-- honestly, they have said to me all the time.
2:19 am
glenn you're going to live under a bridge. fine, fine, it's not true pt you know why they say i'm going to bridge under a bridge because i treat my employees right which is why my company has gone from what, six employees three years ago to 40 employees because i treat them right. i give charity and my ceo of my company, he thinks i'm nuts. he's like, glenn, you're going to live under a bridge. no, i'm not. to those who have been given much, much is required. i take that admonishment at face value. not out of fear, but with joy, with confidence and you need to understand that, not about me, but let my little example inspire you to do the same thing. i want to give. it's my privilege, it's my honor, it's my responsibility, but i also believe in what i call the bucket theory and i never heard anybody say this theory before, but i think we're all given buckets and we all start with the same size bucket and what do people do,
2:20 am
if you're collecting rain water because you're thirsty, you're collecting rain water people have a tendency of doing this, they will cover their bucket to protect it. i believe take your bucket, blessings rain down on you all the time, take your bucket, when you see somebody who needs water, there's more, it's raining all the time. empty it. eventually somebody who is handing out the buckets is going to go you know what, give that guy more buckets, get him a bigger bucket. stop protecting it. give it. and more will come. now i'm going to tell you the reason why i know that;7
2:21 am
2:22 am
2:23 am
2:24 am
>> all right. i'm going to use this agonizing thing that happened to me over the last weekend as an example on why these three things are important. faith, hope and charity because they're all tied together and it is the answer, it is the answer to our problems, not an election. although, get out and vote. i was telling you that the media, i did a speech last saturday in alaska, sarah palin was there, the media
2:25 am
said first it was going to be a hate fest, stir people up, blah, blah, blah. and then we were going to announce our candidacy i guess for president and then they wanted to make it into i was the-- being greedy so my pr firm while i'm on vacation releases that glenn beck is going to donate his salary or donate his pay on this to charity. which was absolutely true and i don't want that released. here is why. why did i do it? because i run a company. and when i went to the ceo of my company 8-28 i've got to give a lot of money and he said no. if you don't have a lot of money, what do you do, you take a second job. if you don't have enough money to do the things you want to take a second job. washington and the media, they print more money, but you and i have to go out and earn more money. that's what i was doing. on my vacation, i went and gave a speech on my vacation. i took those proceeds and gave them to sowf because it's
2:26 am
something that i promised them i would do. i honor my commitments. i also know, even though my ceo of my company thinks i'm crazy for giving all of this money to charity, i believe it pays off in the end. it's not a coincidence. it's not a coincidence that when you give, you get back. you usually get back not only money, but you usually get back more than you give. it's the way things work. you have to have faith when you give charity. faith, not hope, hope, remember, i define hope as truth. the truth is it, when you give charity, you can have faith that it will pay off, not always in cash, but here is how it works. you have a question on something, and this is why i asked you all the time, please question with goboldness. you have a question. you don't jump right to faith.
2:27 am
you do your own homework, you look for an answer that makes sense and go wait a minute, that works, that works. so i'm going to go with that. you have faith that this is true. and then what happens, because you have faith, you try it on and you start to move in that direction, what happens? you come up with more truth, a higher level of truth. which men increases your faith, leads you to more truth, increases your faith, see what i mean? blind faith has no truth. you must have truth first and then test it with faith. it will lead you to more truth. pro of me wrong. prove me wrong on the things that i say. i may get dates wrong, i may make spelling errors, whatever. proof these principles wrong. and i'm not talking to the media. i don't care anymore. talking to you. don't take anything i say as
2:28 am
right or wrong because i say it. or a blog told me. or a preacher told you. or an economist. a preacher can't give you faith and is faith enough? no. faith is not enough. oh, i know there's a lot of religious people out there, but when you're in here swimming and sharks are around you, i'm sorry, even if you have faith, you're going to be freaking out, at least i would. i need firm reliance, not just faith, firm reliance. that's our goal. time magazine did an article here, the moment, this is about 8-28 and this is about how many people showed up, but glenn beck didn't have anything to tell them so they all went away confused. and the press doesn't get it. and they never will.
2:29 am
washington doesn't get it and they never will. that's good. that's good. that's good. the president and special interest and the government are not going to give you faith, hope or charity. they'll pervert these things. i'm not going to give, faith, hope or charity. they will tell you that americans are stupid, they're incapable. they can't do it themselves. you need washington or you need this program or you need this person helping you out. they'll tell you that this is their biggest lie, that the biggest day of charity is april 15th. i can't give you hope or faith or charity, but i'm not going to lie to you. april 15th, how many of us go april 15th, and say man, i feel so good all that charity i gave. no. i will tell you every night what i believe. i will tell you every night what i find true and how i arrived at that conclusion.
2:30 am
that's the most important part. how did you arrive at these conclusions? but if i may suggest, we just need to dismiss perhaps some special interests for what they are. they are, i mean, they are-- what are you looking at butthead? they're a waste of time and energy, because what they do is they have us argue about the lies, the lies. they have us, they stir us up and arguing about lies. if we're about lies we'll never detect the truth. course change on this program. the truth. we're going to look just for the truth, i'm going to pay less attention to all the lies. we're not going to defeat back room, back stabbing, power politics. you have to transcend them. so we will dismiss them. how? with the power and the fire of the truth. the more we argue about our rights being lost or stolen,
2:31 am
the more, the more time we lose. the door is being closed america so we need to stop arguing about those things and we need to start picking up our responsibility. our responsibility in faith, in truth, and in charity. our responsibility to help others, to give until it hurts, to inform ourselves, to really know american history. to really know if god exists or if he doesn't. to raise our kids with values and principles, to teach them about nation's god's and nation's law. it's time we pick up our god given not rights, but responsibility. when we pick up those responsibilities, our rights will automatically be restored. this i believe. this, i try my best every day to live. the answers are not easy. but they are simple. i ask you tonight, will you join me in trying to find the
2:32 am
simple, but not easy answers and solutions? ñ÷or

2:36 am
special report, but now, back to new york and glenn beck. >> want to welcome you to our new set and explain a couple
2:37 am
of things for you. i told you earlier at the beginning of the program what's happening in the economy, it's not good. the imf is selling gold like crazy, central banks are getting away from the unstable dollar. treasuries dropped the four day in a row. the poverty rate jumped last week, record amount in the last year. one in seven americans are now considered poor. is this the best we can do? how do we fix that? we put our debt in perspective. kevin williamson the national review online two years ago forbes calculated our debt to be 700 million now it's 7 trillion now. literally the entire world's money supply with 60 trillion dollars, congress now hasn't passed a budget, they have 17 days to pass ten more spending bills and if they don't, the government shuts down, who could possibly profit off of that? and time magazine, i told you, said in something last week, they said 8-28 confused, left you confused.
2:38 am
thousands gathered along the reflecting pool in the name of restoring honor, the name and theme of the rally and no one could identify what that meant? really? here is moses and the ten commandments, mayflower, finally end of slavery here, pearl harbor, cold war years. apollo 11, september 11th, the housing market crash, the obama administration,. i believe that's the beginning of the restoration of this country. and i'm not talking about restoration, oh, i want george bushbacher. you know, i told you, faith, hope and charity for a year, you've been here, you know. the media don't get it and politicians don't get it. america, you must understand this. you must understand this. the war has already been won. but it requires you to do some
2:39 am
hard work, it does. and it just sucks. i hate hard work. this kind of hard work is the 40 day and 40 night plan. this is, this is the-- this is the plan i believe will be the blueprint for national survival. i tried to come up with a way that will help you remember it and because it looks a little complex here. i believe thomas jefferson, i mean, thomas jefferson he was into codes and puzzles and he loved puzzle boxes. now, i'm not saying this is a code. i don't know if it is, but i think we the people on the constitution, i think that's code. i really do. i think they were like, oh, gee, people are going to forget their way, what do we do. make we the people really big because that's the answer. i look at this as a code on the way out, from thomas jefferson, with a firm
2:40 am
reliance on the protection of divine providence we mutually pledge to each other our lives, fortunes and our sacred honeymoon and we ha honor. we've taken this up on the website, reliance, confidence, trustful, dependent. reliant not on the government, but on divine providence. what is divine providence. divine providence, god, religious, sacred. a guidance of god over the creatures of the earth. so, god is, is looking over us, firm reliance, confidence, dependence on god. we mutually pledge to each other our lives, pledge, pledge, solemn promise, delivered as a security for the fulfillment of a promise, subject to forfeiture if failure to pay or fulfill the promise. we pledge to each other our
2:41 am
lives, a state existence we see as belonging to the soul. our fortunes, wealth or riches and our sacred honor, honesty, fairness, integrity, high respect. marriage. how do you do that? how do you do that? it's easy. there are four steps on there. and in a minute i'm going to show you some people that have already started this and i'm telling you it's changing lives. be the change you want to see. this election, you must get out and put your foot in the door. so the door doesn't close on the american experiment. but i don't have any trust in republicans being any better. well, i do. i'd like to see the democrats actually take their party back. i don't have any confidence that the republicans are going to get this or get the job done, do you? i just know that somebody has
2:42 am
to put their foot in the door. it might be a republican, it might be a democrat, it's not going to be a progressive, but put your foot in the door before they close the drain. so how do we do it? be the change that you want to see. step one, ask yourself, does god exist? why does he exist, how do i know he exists, did somebody tell me or did i question with boldness and know he exists? do i know him? who am i to him? pray on your knees once a day. let your kids see it, it will change your relationship, it will. but do you have to believe in god, do you have to go to church? no. i've used this example over and over again i know it drives them crazy, penn gillet is a good guy, he's an atheist. carl saggen, he was an atheist, it's okay to be an atheist as long as you understand self-regulation. me, not much. and religion is wildly
2:43 am
dangerous when coupled with government. it's important that you have a libbertainer view. you want to be an atheist, be an atheist. you want to be a catholic, be a catholic, i don't care, just self-regulate. read the farewell address of george washington. two, we put firm reliance on divine providence. if you don't know what you believe in the icy waters when this thing starts to tank, how are you going to have firm reliance on something you're like, i'm pretty sure. we mutually pledge to each other. we make a pact. our lives. what does it mean, step two. do the hard thing. accept that we all may ask at some point, have i not yet done enough for my country? a line from george washington. do little things for your family, remember, charity begins at home. they're your first two steps, when i come back i'll do step three and four and show you some people who have actually done this and seeing results in their own life.
2:44 am
it starts with you and goes to your family, then goes to your community, your state and finally your country. it's lasting restoration. back in a second.

>> all right. the 40 day, 40 night challenge, a blueprint, the reliance we pledged to each
2:48 am
other our lives, fortunes and sacred honor, that's the key. that's the key. in 40 days and 40 nights, be able to say that and mean every single word of it. step one, does not exist. you didn't have reliance on something you don't believe in. do you believe, why do you believe? it's not faith. firm reliance on divine providence. we mutually pledge to each other, we promise our lives. what did i say, that's step two. you've got to do the hard things. you may not be able to do the things you want to do your life may change. george washington said when they came and said it's falling apart you've got to come back. after winning the wars and giving up his whole life since 16, have i not yet done enough for my country? we may have to say theys things and promise our lives, do little things for our families, charity begins at home. accept we have to pay for what we've done and have to spend.
2:49 am
i know that's a crazy idea. harry truman, he went bankrupt, when was it 1926. he went bankrupt and here is what he did. he paid it back. him and his friend, they've paid it back, i think it took them until 1939 to pay it back. there's no easy way out. as a country, we have to pay it back. we may not be be able to have that house, or car or retirement we wanted, we may not, but as a child of-- as a father of a child with special needs, i know this to be true. i know americans when they see their children will do the tough thing. i'll do the hard work. let them have an opportunity. we must do that. tithe 10%, do you believe in it or not. i don't care if you give it to a church or peta, give it. why? because if you believe in small government, someone must take care of the needy. it better be you. it has to be me otherwise we're hipocrits. tithe 10% and step four, stop all dishonesty in our lives,
2:50 am
including the lives we even tell ourselves. and boy, as a guy who told lies to myself and everybody i knew for most of my life, it will change your life. 40 days and 40 nights, it will 40 days and 40 nights, it will changeamam
