days before, jessica moore a sophomore from virginia was shot in the head and killed at an off campus house party. two tragic stories. two extremes in media reaction. i guess the question jim, the bredth of the coverage of the clementi suicide and what led up to it. he's on the cover of people magazine. anderson cooper are doing tributes, all kinds of teary-eyed examine kphrapl makes from hollywood stars -- examine lamb makes from hollywood stars. >> we talked about in before it is kind of a cruel truth of the media that certain elements of the story will get attention. one is the gay bashing angle, going back to matthew shepard lots of people get murdered every year. murdered 10 years ago made national news still is a national figure. another angle is the internet and the weirdness that you can

videotape something and put it out there. the clementi story had more elements that a produce worry say are important. >> in the jessica moore story she was a hero in that. her friend was about to get shot she jumped in front of the bull left >> narrative is there have been a number of issues in the last three weeks three gay students have been bullied and committed suicide. it is part of a larger narrative. bullying has become an issue particularly -- this is the upshot, the sad tragic upshot of a series of these stories that do have an anti-guy theme. >> is it a double standard? >> i think it is pretty much what jim and alan are talking about. this is a story that has a lot of dimensions, especially the online internet dimension which is so important now. where a fellow student, a student whom he trusted, innovated -- invaded his

privacy in that way and exposed him. it may result in the kind of legislation that matthew shepard resulted in. that president obama signed in 2009, making gay murder a hate crime. i that i one was -- cyber bullying is a real issue. >> the young irish immigrant who was bullied in massachusetts that a lot of coverage. it made the cover of people magazine. i would agree there's a lot of cases that completely go unnoticed. this one is a little different when you have hollywood outpouring now, filming this psa, because he was gay. i think there are certain cases where if it is a young gay boy or girl it seems to get a little more attention than just the typical bullying cases. >> moving on. what is in a name? it seems some ers are ruffled across the street -- some feathers are ruffled across the street at the peacock network. people at msnbc.com want

nothing to do with the cable channel that carries the same name. they call it bran insanity. one of the complaints is the far left liberal the cable channel exhibits daily with like those you see on your screen now. can you imagine being in the room for that argument, jim? >> knowing that comcast, the big cable conglomerate just bought nbc, therefore, msnbc they've got a lot of sorting out to do. why is msnbc the website for nbc news? i can't believe brian williams is happy to see he's being lumped in with olbermann everyday. >> we at fox news have our opinion shows and straight news shows. msnbc and web component between an opinion channel and a website which is a representative nbc news which
