out. they don't have to put out the truth now. they have working hard to make sure we get out the word with the truth very quickly. we are getting much better at that. >> will they ever the afghanis be competent enough to take care of their own problems, their own nation? >> it will take some time. the army just like iraq is much much better than the police. we put more effort on the army. we are going to this year focus on police. with giened action day in and day out they get better all of the time. it will take some time. absolutely we are building the trust and confidence in the afghan arm me and police with the people of afghanistan. >> you pay a bitter price and we will get into that as the program progresses do you sense i trust you emphatically and i am police italy do you believe momentum has hifted in this fight in>> i wouldn't be here if i didn't think we could get this done. we have great support for this

the last week. how do you see it shaping up? >> the next election kris, rubio and meeks in florida happened down that will go to rubio. you can attribute it to several things. number one is the fact that he's received almost every endorsement to everybody concerned the tea party the club for growth which stands for lower taxes and less government. rubio is their darling. think about it kris which had no, i don't even know why he entered into the race as an independent. he had embraced the obama stimulus plan which was totally wrong and made himself into a career politician when he should have stepped down and endorsed rubio. california that's a big range where you can see meg whitman and jerry brown that will be very close. it's meg whitman can saturate the message with what she can do

to turn california around or fix california you may see a flight intick in the polls. that's one race i feel passionate about. poor pat to toomey he ran again arlen specter he was running in a primary and president bush got in the middle of the primary and basically toomey was under the bus. once again toomey who was the president did a wonderful job running and he had to deal with sestak and the white house bribery case and in the turncoat of arlen specter who was a big proud republican turned around put the blue jacket on and switched parties into being a democrat. >> toomey is the only stable thing in the pennsylvania

pennant race. i look for toomey to win it. >> i think joe will see it differently. he has a lot of experience in the campaigns. you have seen them all. lit me tell you something have you seen troubled waters like this before, joe? >> definitely a tough year. rubio is probably going to win not because he's -- the poll you showed about 42 percent of the vote. the reason he is going to win is because chris a kris and meek t democrats are splitting the rest of the vote the 58 percent that doesn't want rubio. that is clearly the case. neither will get out of the race for the other. looks like a train wreck that rubio will win. up in pennsylvania i will admit it. democrats are giving up on that

this thing. the afghans haven't figured this thing out. >> you cannot kill your way out of here. >> absolutely. we have been doing this for ten years. our building the capacity of the afghan security forces will continue to do that. every die they get better. we are working on governance and development. in the end it's an afghan solution. >> let me put a more positive spin on it is it likely because of the increased military pressure you are putting a word of hurt on these people. you have lost over 100 and u.s. coalition troopers just since the spring. they have lost a hell of a lot more. is it possible they are driving them to seek negotiations? >> mid level leadership are going away every single day. their moral is down. we are going to continue to pound them 103 soldiers from the coalition has given the ultimate

many impose a 12, 3 pointz on either side it could go either way. >> it will be tough to call. a lot of people don't want to go out on a limb and say who is going to take it in this race especially whether -- where it is tight. if you are leading the gop strategy with nine days left what is it all about? get out the vote basically? >> i think it's a get out the vote. i will tell you one thing the fact that they are pulling out the big guns for the republican party there's nothing but a big pep rale low and motivator. the fact that they are pulling in the big guns with obama and pelosi making appearances that could do more tharm than good. even "saturday night live" gets it when they open up a skit with harry reid and barack obama acting like they don't know each other. go figure. >> that's what it is. it's a lot of this right now. nancy pelosi what i voted gents her every time. there's commercials like that

joe. >> she was in california and you couldn't find carlie around here. you have scheduling conflict sz. you are seeing this on both sides. all of this big guns increased and energized the base but have problems in a broader section including sarah palin. they have to plan that the best they can. >> if you had to pick one race that you think has been the biggest surprise in the election season what would it be? oo i think the florida governor's race which is the way it turned out between rubio, kris and meek really switched -- governors sitting governor

people i have met over the years 2003 we were in kave capped h . 6 years later you are still fighting the good fight. you have had ennum merable you and your men and women close calls the casualties that we all know about it hark ens back to a easier time when it was not right or left or democrat or republican it was honor and patriotism. i am still so proud to be close to you and to them and for the fact that you opened up and allow us to see uncensored what goes on. i want to report back home they really have an amazing united states military the army united states airborne an amazing

entity to be proud of and you carry that flag in a way that i want my sons and daughters to appreciate and i am sure they do and everybody in every town every hamlet it is something extraordinary. >> we can never forget the great sacrifice the great soldiers we appreciate the great support we get the job done and look forward to getting back home. >> who wants to go home again?
