same way. tonight i want to take a look at the time line of the rise and fall of rome. i will not show you much in the rise but i will show you, compare the decline. we will show you where we are in comparison. but before we start, everyone thinks of the roman empire but there is something important. most people never take the time to explain that rome wasn't always an empire. it was a republic. at first. there was freedom. things went well. so they expanded. and, then, when freedom started to fall apart, they became an empire. they went from freedom to feeding people to lions for sport. now, how do you go from a decent people that are expanding to taking people and feeding them to lions? if we progress, if we are all so

progressive, shouldn't it go the other way, you feed people to lions and then you dope -- don't. former comptroller of the u.s. has served both republicans and democrats and was frustrated with both so he left government service and he said people have to know the truth. he knows how deep the rabbit hole is and says "there are striking similarities between america's current situation and that of another great power from the past, rome, the roman republic fell for many reasons but three are worth remembering: declining moral values and political civility at home." how are we doing on that one? and overconfident and overextended military in foreign lands. how are we doing on that one? boys, you are watching me overseas, are you tired yet? and, three, fiscal

irresponsibility by the central government. those were the three things that caused the collapse of the roman empire. does any of that sound familiar? it should. because that is us. read the newspaper. the founders knew that it was up to the individual, they knew as a collective man stuck on ice, man could make progress but he would make it with each generation as an individual. thomas jefferson said we should have a vote after every generation and there should be a new form of government every general. why? because every general was different. man does not progress beyond natural man, past brutality as a collective. it is an individual struggle, individual salvation and individual struggle. history shows us when man tries to control freedom and put the collective ahead of the individual it never, never ends

well. rome was a functioning republic. a republic is just like what we were in the first 100 years. but as the wars mounted and as bureaucracy expanded, as power became more and more centralized, remember, that is not the way our republic was sent up. we were not supposed to have centralized power. that's why we left england, too much power in the hands of too few people. well, when the bureaucracy started up, all the regulations and everything else, it took quite a toll on the economy. and on the individual. they usually go together. because when you have pure accuracy and you cannot get things done, personal ambitious withers especially if the government starts taking stuff. and giving it to others. hand outs begin and that causes people to be complacent and say

forget it, it is not worth it. it was written in "history of the decline and fall of the roman empire," and i quote, "it was artfully con tribed by augustus in then joiment of -- in the enjoyment of plenty they should lose the memory of freedom." it goes back to the tower of babel, what keeps the bricks together? materialism. that is what ancient, the tower of babel, the mortar that kept everyone together was material itch. that is what he was saying. that in the more stuff they gave they started to lose the memory of freedom. how many of us understand what freedom really means anymore? if we lose our stuff do we turn

on each other? i con tend at this point, yes. and we are being taught to turn on each other. it's them. we are taught this. you do not have to look at today. we will. look at the past. the same each time. in 133b.c. the they climb of the roman republic begins and they start to redistribute the land, seizing illegally occupied by the rich, the lands, illegally occupied by the rich and gave it to the poor and put caps on the acres one man could own. if it exceeded it was given to the poor. they to not have approval. they did not wait. they went around the senate. and did it anyway. what is happening now? redistribution of wolt -- of wealth through health care and

octavian, he is this guy. and octavian is this guy. because he is the guy who established the political structure that was the basis of what became the roman empire. the roman imperial government. for the next four centuries major changes need to be made. the whole thing was falling apart because they dismantled it, and they had, bit by bit, dismantled everything. it was in trouble. people were crying out we have to have change, change, change, so he came in. but octavian was genius. he realized the roman people, they loved the republic. but it was no longer an option

unless they changed. so he had to go a different way. his solution instead of saying, guys, we have screwed it up, we have to reset here, instead, what he did was, he gave the people what they wanted and what he thought they needed. i don't know how many speeches he had to give but he got it all through and instead of abolishing the institutions that were cherished he continued them and the people still were represented and they elected their representative. the assembly still gathered. the senate oversaw the provinces and advised him. but it did not mean anything. as one said and i quote, "by maintaining the facade of the republic he camouflaged his absolute power."

we saw they are saying this is rigged in their own party, the senate, the senate is saying "this is rigged." we showed you that the fcc is going around the senate, they said, no, the court said no, but the fcc is pushing the neutrality anyway and octavian maintained the appearance of traditional republican government, republican as in "the republic," it was all still there. and he refused to be called caesar, the adopted son of caesar, he did not want to be a dictator but he disguised himself, and he took the title of "first citizen." i am just like you.

>> capitalism can be changed into socialism. well, then it is not capitalism. ask any business person and they will tell you that china is the future. what is that? china has, i'm sorry, they have state capitalism. state capitalism. we will define capitalism and socialism. capitalism, the government protects your right-to-life and liberty so you can pursue your happiness. can you watch my house and kids and you cannot just pick me up off the streets i will live when the laws and you just protect this stuff. that is capitalism. we have been doing that for a long time. the government is not protecting our life and liberty anymore. because they are not arresting the bad guys. so we are not doing capitalism. but understand the government protects your right to do what you want to do.

socialism has private ownership but directed or partnered with the government. g.m. is a great example. they do not own it. we own it. they kind of own it. but more or less they direct it. that is happening with socialized medicine. health care, they will not own the companies. they will partner with them. that's socialism. communism is everything owned by the government and they take it all and give you a little bit of it. that is how it works. now these four, local government, that's the closest to you. this is state with a small "s," your region, and national, our country, and then there is global. our founders say that local government is the way to go. state government, it should be global the weakness, national, state, local. that's, this is the founders, this is number one.

but what we are doing, now, is the exact opposite. state when they say "state capitalism," china is a state capitalist society, they do not use state like this they use capital "s," which is state capitalism, capital "s," the biggest government there is. the state. so it's state capitalism. well, is it state capitalism in china? in china, well, yes, because it's national. so it is the state. is it capitalism? no. but it is also not communism. it's state socialism. let's not use the word state because one thing progressives love they love to change names. so, we know it is not capitalism. it is not communism.

it is socialism. state social im. but forget "state," it's national socialism. what is that? germany. they know. they cannot say it is national socialism. they know you would freak out if you knew history. so they call it state -- lie -- capitalism. when they say the future of state, remember, that's a capital "s," state capitalism. so whatever the biggest fish is. for the first time ever the biggest fish will be global so we are looking at global socialism. now, let me ask you this, what does gorge soros -- george soros

open society, incent -- isn't that what everyone wants? it is a nationless planet. so we are not talking about what they are creating over there, we are not talking about national socialism we he talking about state socialism, the globe because we're talking about a world without nationality. they will not tell you that now. george soros will. the head of bolivia's army came out and say and i quote, "we declare ourselves antiimperialists because there can exist no external power imposing itself, we declare ourselves anticapitalist because the system is destroying mother earth." that is another lie. it has nothing to do with capitalism.

the control of foreign trade by the government. the control of natural resources. talk to the people in alaska or colorado on that. or west virginia. the control of energy sources. hydroelectric power. petroleum, natural gas. control of transportation. there's more. wait until i get to the end. where does it lead? next.ñ÷

emphasis on estates and income of the rich. he said it wouldn't a lot of takeover of properties and industry in the socialistic sense. the formula is control without ownership. interesting to recall the same formula was used in the management of great corporations in depriving stockholders of power. then the last one was the state control of communication and propaganda. need i remind you that today, the s.e.c. outlined net neutrality so they can control and protect you on the internet. i told you at the beginning, blue pill or red pill? the red one -- i think the blue ones makes you fall asleep and the red one -- i'm not sure. you want to wake up or do you want to go to sleep? sleeping probably is a lot easier at this point.

but seeing things for what they are is more important for the children and in the long run, the only way we cannot repeat the mistakes of the roman republic. then become some sort of empire, some sort of global nation national, socialistic empire. because that's where we're headed gang. it happens time and time again.
