they were on the ballot in 2008. in the case of mitt romney, he's been 20 or 25 percent of the polls and much of the organization and caucus support from four years ago remained with him. his organization is strong and deep. ron paul has a different type of approach to caucus organization. lots of college. his is a youth support that is hard to get to the caucus locations. but ron paul has passionate supporters and between the two of them it could go down to the wire between these two. very different candidates and many of ron paul's rivals have pounded him . mitt romney has showed momentum and huge crowds . you and i traded e-mails after romney said something.

president obama's failures will make him a foot note in history. question, is he trying to assume the role of the nominee? >> absolutely. high casts himself of a preupon sumptive nominee. without getting too far out in front of the pack. as we have seen with the candidates going up down the polls, it is it dangerous politically. mitt romney has tried to top the field and rise above the fray as the candidate best suited to go up against barack obama and republicans are enthusiastic about people who can take it to the president and in debates and critize the policies. every time mitt romney tries to do that he sends a signal that he is best to carry the ball against the president. >> what do they mean it is more than expectation and who comes in first? >> it is it a small slice of

the iowa pie. it is most conservative core of the republican party out here and so much, half of the caucus is evangelical christians it is an organizational battle and awn times who wins or comes in second is so well known it is no surprise. the candidate that catches momentum doesn't need to win but gets the headlines, and that's why rick santorum is getting attention now. he was campaigning in total obscurity and then it was largely because he complained he didn't get enough time. the last few weeks they have rooted for rick santorum. can you see it from the people walking out of events. they are interested in why santorum is catching on. tomorrow the final church day for the caucus.

themselves beginning at 6:00 p.m. eastern all right here in america's election headquarters. we are told it is a working vacation for president obama in hawaii . he signed the national defense authorization act into law. that authorizes defense funding incrucial services for the military and their families. he had service reservations with the detention and prosecution of suspected terrorist and only decided to sign it after congress made changings . the president has a new campaign strategy. senior white house official said mr. obama will step up his offensive against congress . the congress team will call it go alone approach. he will show case measures and taking a loan to revive the economy. doug is traveling with the president and travels live from honolulu.
