scud missiles and put together a web page that calls not romney and will go after romney as a flip flopper. and newt gingrich's adwill say he passed health care proposals in massachusetts that had abortion. he could do serious damage to mr. romney . the other unknown quantity is ron paul. this is itate with a libitarian streak. he's been around the track and ran in 2008 and ron paul could come in second here. what that means with the republican party perhaps not much. there is not a lot of expectation that ron paul could take it further. and the undecided hold sway in the end. and there is newt gingrich

newt gingrich has a proven record of changing washington and making a difference of balancing budgets and doing the kinds of things that the american people are looking for. mitt romney with tax increases didn't have a good job's record and newt gingrich created len -11 million jobs. i am sorry that mitt romney regarded them as attacks. they are not. . they are the differences between the two candidates. >> does it upset you at all that people on the outside. he needs to concentrate on what and happening. >> i have been out with newt gingrich and i hear in new hampshire and i haven't seen any whining on his part. and he's also made it clear

that he's the only conservative with a national record that can be elected president and debate toe to toe with obama in the fall. he's not whining. and some say that's not a positive thing. and they have anything to do with the boston globe. what is your take on that. >> huntsman is endorsed by more. reads like any. and they know mitt romney and know him as governor of massachusetts, he increased taxes .

does the gop presidential hopeful stand before the new hampshire primary? joining us is the republican strategist. and live from the boston bureau. and former advertiser. senator kerry welcome. >> talk about what is at play. i know that obviously mitt romney is the person to beat given the polls that show him with a substantial lead in new hampshire. but people like jon hunts man who invested his time in the state and hoping for real momentum coming out of new hampshire. what do you think he has to do right now if he gets that support going forward since he hasn't raised a lot of money and had the organization in place to go forward in south carolina? >> he needs to come in third in new hampshire. he has newspaper endorsements

and the globe endorsement doesn't help him but does in new hampshire. 40 percent of the voters are independent and there are more independent than democrats or republicans. when you look at it that way hunts man has to come in third and a chance in the debate to make that contrast between himself and mitt romney and santorum. >> let me ask you about the fact, and the big attack between mitt romney -- excuse me newt gingrich and romney and the fact that romney has a big target with the big debate tonight. do you think that gring gring appears to be whiney as some suggest and that he needs to focus on his issues as to focus on mitt romney at this point in the game. >> it is a double edge sword for gring gring. he rose so high and did so well. we had always talked about his

negatives. but he treating the others like colleagues and supportive and positive. so for him to go negative. he may take a chunk out of romney. but he will hurt himself, too. newt gingrich is one of those candidates he can't throw mud without it getting on him. i hope he stays positive and i think that would help him. he is a bit angry about iowa. he can show contrast and show why he is the best person rather than going and taking off. he cannot get away with going negative without hurting himself even more. >> mary ann. and santorum is raising mon yeriding high after the second place iowa finish there, do you think that new hampshire voters begin the fact that many of them embrace libitarian values are going to resonate with his messages about social conservatism.

>> that is a great point. santorum is doing something that smart. it may cost him vote in new hampshire but emphasizing his social conservative values that may not serve him in new hampshire, but it will help him in south carolina and he is taking the pat buchanan model that sells so well in new hampshire. all he has to do is finish second and he has the greatest opportunity for a contrast than he had even in iowa last week in the caucaus. put the speech rick santorum made against romney it is a stark contrast f. he does and comes in second in new hampshire. he not only meets mitt romney in south carolina he has a chance to beat mitt romney in south carolina. >> we'll watch the debate
