you vote and it's on to south carolina. thank you very much. this is the best country we got but definitely get out there and vote. thank you very much. >> >> this is a fox news alert. i am geraldo rivera. probably too late to prevent a romney land slide in new hampshire. he's still up by between 15-20 points in the latest poll. that didn't stop the gop candidates from running into the frontrunner this morning in the fast and furious last debate before tuesday's first in the nation primary. >> why shouldn't governor romney be the nominee of this party? >> i think that a bold reagan conservative with a very strong economic plan is a lot more likely to succeed in that campaign than a relatively timid massachusetts moderate who even the wall street journal said had
5:01 am
an economic plan that resembled obama. >> the one thing you can't tell people of new hampshire about is the people who watched me next door. they saw i was a solid conservative and i brought important change to massachusetts. >> if it was so great as governor of massachusetts why didn't you run for reelection. if you didn't want to stand before the people ch massachusetts and run on the record if it was that great why did you bail out? the bottom line is i go and fight the fight. >> people go to washington and serve washington and serve as the people of their nation and go home. i want to see term limits in washington. as the president of the united states if i am elected of course i will fight for a second term. a lot of work to be done. >> i realize the red light doesn't mean anything to you because you are the frontrunner. oo but can we drop a little bit
5:02 am
of the pias bologna. you ran in 94 and lost. that's why you weren't serving in rick santorum. >> how do you keep your patience and hold your temper when you hear these repetitive barbs from rivals? >> i remember our interviews karl. i have been able to hold my temper with you. my guess is it would have been harder to be able to keep your cool in a setting where you are being asked repetitive questions that are wrong had i not had that experience over the years now. going to the olympics was a time when sports are covered more fully than politics. i got a lot of questions and concerns raised associated with the limb bick games and it began to prepare me with the fact that hey people are doing their business and they are doing the job they need to do to knock you down a peg you have to be able to do that and move on. >> they will be able to do that at the state deli.
5:03 am
a sandwich called pias bologna. >> we have a big show for you tonight. washington bureau chief of the washington times. what is your headline from today's debate? is it too little too late? >> i played up the line about the pias bologna which i thought was a big point that gingrich was able to make simply and forcefully. my headline is that no one laid a mitt on mitt. the rivals had jobs to do. not all got it done. >> do you think that it is possible they have chipped away at the granite chin of the man leading in the granite state? >> ifrng in some ways the purpose of the two-days between iowa and new hampshire given the run up mitt romney run here. a lot of us are seeing it here. two debates with a little more attention on mitt romney and the
5:04 am
rivals have a lot more to do with the south carolina election than the primary on tuesday here. this is getting very serious now. the win in iowa was not anticipated than some of the rival camps. if you are going to do something these are the days to do it. >> whatever he wins by in new hampshire this is my prediction the democratic party and republican rivals will say it is not enough. democratic national committee said today he will look bad if he doesn't win by 50 percent on tuesday. no poll has had him at 50 percent. you see where that is going. >> i think 50 percent is too many candidates. thank you so much. appreciate it. let's take a look at the recent polling. this is from yesterday that is the most recent we have available. this morning's poll is not figured into it. suffolk university tracking poll
5:05 am
had romney well ahead of ron paul by 15 points huntsman gingrich and santorum in a fight for third. the research group grp poll has romney way ahead of huntsman and paul followed by santorum and gingrich. finally nbc merit poll has romney with the biggest lead over gingrich and rick perry. will today's debate make any difference? is rick santorum's star already fading from the blow of iowa. they have a rasmussen report right now live from new hampshire. welcome. what is your sense of first of all on santorum. is there a kind of fading of that glow? >> i don't know if i would call it a fading. there's not a continuation of the surge. all of the candidates not named mitt romney right now are looking to south carolina.
5:06 am
governor romney is probably going to tighten a little bit so he might not win by 20 points. it will be a battle with the second and third place finishers much better han romney's margin. rick santorum doesn't appear to be heading to a tremendous finish in iowa. >> in that regard if santorum finishes fourth or fifth do you discount him? despite the fact that new hampshire is so different than south carolina does it effect south carolina? >> one thing we know for sure candidates go to south carolina there will be a lot of money spent down there a lot of advertising. leading up to the aspect of mitt romney's career i suspect he will get the same treatment as gingrich got in iowa. the question will be if mitt was damaged at all by that, who can gain from it? what gingrich and santorum and
5:07 am
huntsman are going to be fighting about is who will be able to go to south carolina and say i am the real alternative? >> you know in new hampshire, is it a state given to last minute changes? >> the numbers here don't show the things we are likely to show a mast minute change we saw in iowa. partly because it is romney, he was the governor tof the state next door. a lot of people made up their mind this time around. what we are hearing is there seems to be a sense that is not quite as vibrant as politicking and solid as it was in previous years. it comes to in a sense mitt romney is likely to be the big winner here so there's not going to be the change of heart. >> scott rasmussen, thank you. >> if romney is the big winner
5:08 am
in new hampshire is it all but over? the republicans do endorse mitt romney. congressman michael grimm while up in new hampshire kelly ann is for nut griffining. the best laugh line of the campaign so far the pias bologna. is that enough do you think? >> you can hardly take he had krity for newt gingrich's brain he's the chief strategist. you know there's so much more there. these debates probably reenergized gave them to newt. romneys are accounting on elect ability and reliability. for a party in 2010 had voters all across the country say we will not let the mainstream media who to vote for we are going to choose the same nominee. let me sell you something else. we know in the gingrich campaign
5:09 am
they would love to run against mitt romney. obama himself said romney care was the model was the inspirational blue print for obama care. they are ready for mitt. they spent a lot of years getting ready for him. he is not a wild card. newt is a total wild card. you know everybody in this country. popcorn sales would go through the roof at the idea of obama and gingrich debating. >> if you think romney savaged griffining image what he would do with a billion dollars. >> >> he is not really your big enemy. but do you think that expectation hurdle now
5:10 am
congressman? >> do you worry that he won't get more than 40 percent? >> he is going to say that anyway. with the democratic party saying 50 percent it is actually 50 percent no poll has had them there. there are five other members in this case. that would be practically impossible. here's the bottom line. he has been consistent. look at his campaign. the way he has run a smart campaign. this is the type of person we want as a president. someone that is organized someone that is systematic someone that analyzes things. >> did you thifz busted by gingrich about the super packed attack ads against the former speaker? >> the governor knows the law he's not going to cross any line. >> it's not about law, though. >> accident see the ads congressman. it's so nice to call you
5:11 am
congressman, by the way. congressman, he didn't see the ad. either he is running for president he's like the only person i know in this country that didn't see the ads that they put out either he is not being completely straight with us or he is on a couch. >> who gets all of the money from fannie mae and freddie mac. $1.6 million. >> oh stop it. i want everybody to know -- yes they do. we are going to go there. everyone watching geraldo's show the new york times article read what the speaker talked about. very important article about one of the companies bane they left with $179 million and 1700 people unemployed. if you don't believe it talk to the ombudsman. >> it's not about believing it. this country needs -- >> it is a 99 percent climb and this is a problem. >> this country needs someone
5:12 am
who knows business. especially 25 years of business you can be able to pick apart andrea any narrative you want. he's experienced and he can run the country. >> i am calling a commercial break which we will do right now. we have more politics for you tonight including this quiz which candidate is calling south carolina line gnaw his personal alamo. tonight an at large exclusive what does jose biaz have to say about who leads the client casey anthony's diary. we will be back in two minutes.

speaking out for making sure that every person in america gay or straight is treated with respect and dignity and has equality of opportunity. that does not mean that i would agree with certain things the gay community would like to change laws with respect to marriage and adoption and things like that. >> what if you had a son that came to you sand said he would gay? >> i would love him as much as i did the second before he said it. (applause) >> he surged late in iowa almost pulling off a big win in last tuesday's caucuses. wi will that as many believe now be the high water mark for rick santorum. on the campaign with the former pennsylvania senator. >> good afternoon everybody. >> because of his new found popularity senator rick santorum's new popularity -- >> rale will he from inside the hall to the outside parking lot because so many people showed
5:16 am
up. >> his days are packed jumping from one event to another through out the busy weekend leading up to our nation's first republican primary tuesday ohm stopping for television experiences tore maximum exposu exposure. >> little girl asked you what was your biggest mistake? >> up to two weeks ago some thought running for president. how do you feel today? >> i feel very good. i have always had confidence we were going to do well and finish in iowa in a very strong position. i can't say that i really hope to do as well as i did. i just thought that we would break out of the pack a little bit and be the conservative alternative to the establishment candidate mrod rat mitt romney and to some degree newt gingrich. >> haze goal was to win in iowa he has more modest expectations here in the granite state. >> we can climb the ladder continue the momentum and go to south carolina where we always
5:17 am
thought that was the best chance to win. >> how do you keep the momentum when you are going up against people with more money and so much more moan membmentum growi. >> i don't think anybody in the last two weeks have had bigger and more enthusiastic crowds. >> louder and cheers -- >> game on. >> and jeers. >> you canwant to come in my bedroom? >> he was confronted by occupy wall street protestors and booed at one event when he compared gay marriage to polygamy. >> you had moments here in new hampshire where you have had hecklers because of your views on gay marriage in particular how do you respond to that? >> it's freedom of speech. i don't respond it at all. i answer the question and move on. i come from southwestern pennsylvania. i come from steel country. i was a republican in a heavily
5:18 am
democratic with steel workers that make these guys look like ballerina out there. i am not worried about what's going on here. i am worried about getting that message across and making sure we talk about economic growth. we talk about getting the manufacturing sector eeft con me going. talk about our growth plan our plan to cut taxes. >> how do you as a social conservative how do you mark yourself to the general lek terror at people with stro -- e? people with stronger views on gay marriage and pro choice. >> we have to have strong families in order for us to have a strong economy in order for us to have limited government. >> because there are far fewer social conservatives here than in iowa his surge may be losing steam in new hampshire according to several new polls. he has higher expectations for south carolina's primary where some conservatives question mitt romney's commitment to issues
5:19 am
nonnegotiable like opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage. some pundits see south carolina santorum's make or break state. >> what are you looking forward to doing in south carolina? >> we are looking to win every where. not that we will but we always run to win. that's what i did in iowa and people looked at me and sort of roled their eyes. i said i didn't come to lose. i didn't come to new hampshire to lose. we are going to go all out. >> craig joins us live. he softened his tone on gays but i am not sure ballerina steel worker position really worked for him. but at least he's not comparing it to intecest and beastiality. >> after comparing gay relations to beastiality he said he would always be respectful when debating gay rights. a testy crowd he has been booed on the issue when asked how he
5:20 am
5:22 am
>> speaker you de cry the washington establishment and you talked about the new york times and "washington post". you agreed with the characterization governor romney is a liar. look at him now. do you stand with that claim. >> i wish you would directly state it is your former staff running the pack your former friends and you know some of the ads are not true.
5:23 am
say this straight forward. >> well, of course it's former staff of mine. of course the people who support me. they wouldn't be putting money into a pact if they weren't people who support me. with regard to hear ads i haven't seen them. you know under the law i can't direct their ads. >> speaker -- >> i can't direct their ads. if there is anything in it that is wrong i hope they take it out. i hope everything that is wrong they take out. >> that makes him look bad. i may be looking for something because he's a frontrunner we want to keep our race alive, but he seems to be talking out of both sides of his mouth. >> i think part of it is he is trying to stay above the fray which i think he should do. >> you can't say above the fray and have them knife someone in the back. >> you cannot control your super pack. it's not -- he cannot direct. it would be illegal for him to
5:24 am
direct those ads. those who are supporting mitt romney as super pact level are doing what they think is right. the reality is those ads are truthful. everything they said in those ads. i would ask are they not true? he took 1.6 million from fannie mae and freddie mac. everything in there was truthful advertisements. i don't think he -- >> before i get to susan de delemis. let me go to -- is kelly ann conway here. >> you guys look very warm geraldo. >> all right. now you want to respond to what he said. >> yes, i do. i think that speaker gingrich finally needs to slow down and expose mitt romney. he is super packed for what he is doing. super pack is illegal. we are off work receipts not less. it is so disingenuous and it plays into this narrative about
5:25 am
governor romney don't say anything or do anything that he just can't disavow what they are doing to stand up and do what newt did in iowa which is to say anybody involved in my campaign you must be positive, you have to -- >> there's only one reason -- >> i think it shows one soft under belly for governor romney he doesn't want to have a real debate about the issues. why can't we talk about issues and not people. >> let's broad enthis out a little bit now to the aforementioned to the state rep who is backing rick santorum. had you state representative. is he going to be a factor on tuesday in your state or do you think he is going to be an after thought by all that has said and done in 30 hours from now? >> i absolutely think rick santorum will have quite an impact. i am hoping to see him really
5:26 am
rival schmidt and reach his numbers. i would like to see him surpassed. >> what would be acceptable. we have 8 percent in one poll 12 in another. 13. what is the feeling that you expect in new hampshire for rick santorum on tuesday? >> right now mitt has had 40 percent his numbers have slipped a little bit. and that leaves 60 percent plus maybe 65, maybe 70 percent of the republicans in the state of new hampshire looking for somebody else. i think rick is very strong and trust worthy. i think he's a terrific candidate. i think he's somebody that has integrity and honor. i can see quite a few people in the state going for rick. especially after michelle bachmann had stepped down.
5:27 am
many people are looking for the constitution they could go with and trust. >> there were not that conservatives in iowa or south carolina coming up. it doesn't look good for tuesday, does it? >> i honestly wouldn't say that to be honest with you. one of the state representatives that was put into the house of representatives here in new hampshire by a huge large scale sweep. it was amazing. i think there are a lot more conservatives in the state of new hampshire than you know about. >> we will be looking for them.
5:31 am
>> this is my first video diary. it is october 13th which is a thursday 2011. just surreal how much things have changed since july and how many things haven't changed. the good things is things are start to go look up and things are starting to change in a good way. hopefully things stay good and they only get better.
5:32 am
>> more in a moenlt. first in a prime time exclusive we have the update the video diary has reignited the bit ter feelings so many harbor for casey anthony who has been living in seclusion since the charges she murdered her precious 2-year-old daughter caylee. jose biaz will talk about the tape. welcome. >> good to see you. >> she is still living in seclusion in florida where she has to stay for how long? >> until the end of her probation which will be through out august. >> until the end of august she is stuck in seclusion in an undisclosed location. yet obviously she is active on the internet. she talks about getting this computer that web cam. did she make that video with the intent that it be seen by others? >> no.
5:33 am
these were private web cam journal type entries that were solely intended for her. certainly wasn't meant to be disseminated in any way. >> i know that you believe that, yet it is obvious somehow, some way, shape or form someone got a hold of them. isn't it possible, isn't it probable that she is video chatting with that computer that she is making friends that may be people you don't know of or wild card? >> if she were video chatting i think someone who record the conversation they were having with her. that would be out there. this is obviously this was a private message solely intended for her private journal. i think a person who is in a position like casey just wants to have some way of expressing
5:34 am
sthems. >> she is still lonely. isn't it possible to this fellow rob hensley the kansas guy that she released the video to him? he's the one that posted it? >> i think that's highly unlikely. >> who did it? >> currently we do not know that. right now we are investigating everything. we are taking steps. if lawsuits need to be filed or investigations need to be begun as a result of a criminal act, that is exactly what is going to happen. a person is going to be able to live and have their own privacy people should respect their own privacy. >> do you have the nine second video as well? play that, please? >> very excited.
5:35 am
>> that is your client is it not? >> yes, that's her. >> she got her nose pierced and her ears pierced. >> that's what appears to be in the video, geraldo. >> i mean what is going to -- is she going to be a tattooed woman when she emerges? >> i think that's going over board. people have piercings and tattoos whatever they want to accessorize themselves. >> but is she -- >> is she really remorseful and contemplating her fate and future? >> i don't think you can take a moment out in time in someone's day and say they are remorseful or not remoresful. this is an unfortunate incident where casey should have her privacy. she is entitled to privacy just like any one else. she was acquitted of the charges
5:36 am
that were posted against her. she should be able to go on with her life. i think this is outrageous this is happening. i think it is criminal. if it is, we are going to ask that it be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the laugh and see if the authorities are brave enough to do it. >> there's no case. she is acquitted. >> she got appeals going on? >> of course we are all handling the appeal. elizabeth fryer and cheney mason are working on the case de diligently. we will fight for the current appeals pending. >> back to politics now. with the polls opening in a small town of hicksville here is another memorable moment from this morning's debate. >> with more americans on government assistance than ever before is it unamerican for americans to feel leaved when the government helps them?
5:37 am
>> let me ask you the questions earlier what are the three areas you would make reductions and people would feel pain i would say it would be the bureaucrats of department of commerce, energy and education we are going to do away with. >> that's your final answer. >> great lines from both of them. >> on the verge of polliulling he is in south carolina calling the state his alamo. let's ask ray sullivan the communications director joins us. ray he named all three. doesn't your governor staying in the race for the presidential nomination split the conservative vote in south carolina? won't that make romney's anointment inevitable?
5:38 am
>> it was the only outsider in the race speaking from his heart on his conservative social fiscal and tea party record. it was the only one in the wall street establishment the members of congress still in the race almost 60 years of combined service in washington that left us with ear marks with debt. per perry has been out in the real world -- >> don't get me wrong he has been an effective governor in texas vocontroversial but very popular. he is at the bottom of the barrel in most of the polls including south carolina. it would be a real miracle for them to emerge in the top 3 or 4. >> geraldo we have seen this race be extremely fluid. candidates who were nowhere one
5:39 am
minute are at the top of the field the next. king rich has been up and down again. perry has a lot to say a lot to speak to on this race. he again has we believe the best conservative ideas the time that congress meets setting them home to live on the laws in the past respecting our military the only one in the race volunteered to wear the uniform in our country. he has a lot of energy. >> doctor ron paul served in the navy as well. >> that is true. >> didn't he surprise you when he stayed in after iowa? weren't you like most of the pros thinking it was going to drop out? >> it was a tough night but it was a governor who doesn't take no for an answer. we have the resources unlike any other candidate in the race governor romney has been running for several years. perry has the organizational
5:40 am
infrastructure. the fundraising base the ability to go the distance. the other candidates don't have that. >> don't you think he should have spent more time before those debates you got to out slick to beat the band. >> you can see a candidate who gets bert and better by the week. the debate performance last night and last several debates have been strong. this is not a job unlike the english parliament where debating is a necessary skill. president obama is a great debater president clinton is a great debater. a lot of folks on our side of the aisle don't think he is the best president in the world. well done on behalf of your

5:44 am
>> it was romney who scored the endorsement of the governor of the palmetto state. >> a lot of people stood in line hoping for her endorsement. i cannot be more proud to have on that stage with me your governor my friend nicky haley. >> this is goofrn another that made a hard decision, cut taxes in his state 19 times balanced his budget with an 85 percent democratic legislator. that's what we need. >> what is it about south carolina that makes it so critical. >> our voters represent the three pillars that are traditional pillars the social if is cam and military conservatives are well represented in south carolina. >> we call it south elbows. >> they picked the gop nominee every time. >> whoever has won the republican primary has gone on
5:45 am
to get the nomination. >> any one who discounts south carolina is a huge mistake. >> he compounded his moderation by serving as president obama as ambassador in china. >> understands the whole spectrum of constitutional conservati conservatism. we are not looking for a candidate who says there has to be any time-out on any part of that. >> staunch conservatives have a hard time if that vote is divided among several candidates in a similar view. that's what happened to mike huckabee. >> obviously tonight we wanted to come here and declare a south carolina victory. we got awful close. unfortunately in politics doesn't count for the first sly. >> from lovely charleston south carolina mike stanford joins us. from the state capital of columbia chad connolly gop party
5:46 am
chairman. well tomorrow. romney in 4th in 2008. real clear politics has him the combil layings -- compilation o the folks. i had them up 31 percent percent of the vote with santorum and gingrich tied for second. polling had the race tighter with second place finishers swapped with gingrich edging santorum. a couple weeks away. do you worry -- i don't know who you were -- shave you endorsed any one? >> no. governor have you? >> i have not. >> do you want to right now? >> let me think on that. how about that. i would love to, but that would be nice.
5:47 am
>> do you think my premise is correct governor romney although the frontrunner will be catapulted to victory even though he is a semi moderate because there are so many other to the right of him that will split the conservative vote? >> i think you are definitely on to something. what you have certainly on the right where romney might stand is between gingrich, paul, go down the list. the same dynamic is going to play itself out in very hard form here in south carolina over the next couple weeks after new hampshire wraps up when i heard somebody said it's a place of strong elbows. it's going to be a big risk contest in south carolina. i don't think you will see romney's lead as it stands hold. it will be a very tight race. you will see the super packs play in earnest because of the cost of doing so in this state
5:48 am
verses a lot of other states down the line. i think if something custard's last stand for any of these candidates either they make it e here or it's over. i think it will be really heated and much closer than the polls suggestled. >> do you think between santorum and gingrich who are dueling for second and third place who has a message that resinates more than what chad connolly calls the fiscal military and fiscal conservatives? >> let's -- i am going to lose the governor as satellite then i am going to come to you. we are going to lose him on the bird in just a minute. you answer first then i will go to chad. >> what i will say is what i will say is ron paul probably owns the economic conservative angle given what he has been talking about for quite sometime. constitutional limitations on
5:49 am
government. if you look at social conservatives it is fairly evenly divided between santorum and gingrich and perry which is what makes it tough for all of them given the fact that there is division ail monks the four of them. >> i am going to lose you in 30 seconds. now to the aforementioned chad connolly. do you have a favorite, sir? >> no. i don't have a favorite. i am the head cheer lieder f-- cheerleader for south carolina. i enjoyed all of the news coverage in south carolina. it's exciting as south carolina lynnian and chairman of the party to realize everybody is talking about our state everybody in the media the candidates and nations knows the decision will be made right here in south carolina the next 12 days. >> it is extraordinary how absolutely reliable south carolina republicans have been in seeking the national

maybe we had been lucky for more than this now we have a 30-year-old track record. it has most to do with the fact that we have a good blend of republican pay. we have a great representation of social conservatives fiscal conservatives military conservatives. we may make up the best blend of the party in any state. candidates can get around our state and campaign. they can go to every corner every nook and cranny they can go to the diners and connect with voters here it's an inexpensive state. >> fiscal and military conservatives mitt romney is none of those according to these polls. governor romney -- >> it shifted because there is certainly a movement going on for governor romney. the next 12 days will tell the

tail. anybody can win in this state. if they get here they can campaign and get to the voters. >> do you think he can campaign this momentum into a state like south carolina assuming he does well in new hampshire in the neighboring state big ocean home and the rest of it. it is your home state in a sense. >> south carolina is different. you think the hammering he is going to get from newt gingrich will make a difference? >> i think ultimately the momentum is with him. no question he can keep this going. it comes down to the fact that he is electable electable to the right reasons he knows more about the economy and he is not a typical politician who spent 25 years in the private sector. one of the things i admire about him is he loves america and he's not going to apologize for it. it is a great match up for what is really going to matter.
5:56 am
>> it is all over? isn't your gi going to go out killing the other guy. >> ooirt alone. >> of course he can win. we have votes cast in one state the next voters will go tomorrow but it is mitt romney after utah new shach shir should be his best states. focusing on king rich south carolina is a sweet spot for him. now romney has gotten a bump out of iowa. a lot of people want to tuck this away and forget about the election. let's let the voters decide who the nominee will be. you need -- >> i got to do one thing. ted bla-- tony blankley passed away. here's what your man had to say about tony blankley. >> many of you jo tony blankley.

he was a very very dear friend a great colleague has worked with me and helped us he was a key person in 94 contract in the campaign was my press secretary speaker the first speaker in 40 years. he was the first republican press secretary for speaker in 40 years. >> we are going to remember tony blankley a really terrific guy. again our thoughts to those victims in tucson, arizona. that's it for us. thank you

>> hey, good morning. new music. do you notice, no more oohs. >> i'll do it in my sleep. >> monday, january 9th, everybody. hope you had a fantastic weekend. i'm gretchen carlson. all the attacks may be taking their toll on mitt romney in new hampshire where voters go to the polls tomorrow. we're live with the latest for you. > >> if chris christie is around -- >> really? something may go down tonight. it ain't going to be jobs, sweetheart. >> governor chris christie setting the record straight for some occupiers in new
