tonight. . >> ladies and gentlemen, governor mike huckabee. [applause] >> hello, everybody, thank you. thank you very much. grit audience. and we're delighted to have you, welcome to huckabee from the fox news studios in new york city. well, over the next ten days, i'm going to be in israel taking a group of about 175 people to see firsthand this remarkable nation. and stallwart american ally and we're going to travel, and naturally visiting the biblical and historical sites that have shaped world history and bed rock for faith thousands of years. i've often said that reading the bible before a trip to israel is reading it it in black and white. after visiting this incredible land it's like reading it in living color. we will of course visit not only the places made famous from the old and new

testaments, but make sure those who go with me have a clear understanding why the happenings in a country the size of about new jersey do matter to every american. the u.s. and israel don't simply share the organizational relationship between allies, we share an organic relationship of nations who were et created by the sacrifices of those who died to give personal and religious liberty to their children and generations beyond. our relationship is tied to a common understanding that people are free, not because government granted such a blessing, but because god endowed us with life, liberty and the pursuant of happiness. our commitment to free speech, dissent with our own government and the ability to choose our leaders through elections, are just a part of our bond. today, even as i prepare to go, the radical leadership of iran's totalitarian government is moving towards the reaction of its own nuclear weapon.
8:03 pm
for those who argue at that iran has as much right to nuclear arms as the u.s. and russia and china, pakistan, israel or india, let's make the distinction. each of those nations have developed their nuclear capacity as a deterrent. they have nuclear devices precisely so as to hope to never use them and iran stands as a nation whose maniacal president openly declares he'd like to use them against israel and the united states. and this is a nation that already demonstrated it's ready to murder its own citizens in the streets for protesting the brutal excesses of iranian government and a country that will kill its own women in cold blood certainly won't hesitate to kill the innocents from a nation it considers to be infidels. current u.s. administration has been openly critical of israel for building bedrooms for its own people in their own neighborhoods, but have been much less demanding to confront iran for building

bombs. now, few doubt that israel will at some point have to take military action to preempt an iranian nuclear threat. few know whether the u.s. can be counted on as a reliable partner when that day comes. don't be naive, the iranians hatred and contempt of israel is only exceeded by their hatred and con at the point in time of the united states. aiming something at israel is practice for their big target, you. that's my view and you can contact me at mike huckabee diet come and when you do, be sure to click on fox news feedback section there at the home page and e-mail me and contact me on facebook, or sign up to follow me on twitter. by the way, my new york times best selling book "a simple government" something congress needs more of is out in paper back at book stores and amazon and hope if you don't have a

[applause]. >> and let's start by talking about the very real threat that is being posed by the iranians, they've made lots of comments, the saber rattling is real, just to this weekend we've now learned that they're looting ships in direct sort of flagrant violation of everything to keep peace in that area. is israel imminent in taking action against iran for their nuclear buildup? >> governor, iran is racing towards acquiring a nuclear weapon. we're at the very last moment.
8:06 pm
this is going to be the first time in world history, that a maniacal islamic regime will acquire a nuclear weapon the day after they have a bomb will be a different day for the entire world. and iran is an octopus of terror sending its arms to india, to bangkok, it washington, to europe, and to lebanon and the whole world. we have to stop them, and yes, it is imminent. >> mike: is israel in a position to be able to hang on in a sustained military action, or hot war with a country like iran that's built up a significant military? >> well if necessary, we will. obviously, america has much more capabilities of sustaining an attack on iran, but right now, as it stands, most of iran's facilities are still vulnerable, they're moving their facilities underground and that's why we're at the very last moment,
8:07 pm
right now we could still take them out, based on public knowledge, but a year from now shall it's going to be a whole different ball game. that's why over the next 12 months, the world has to act. >> mike: one of the, maybe different things that i'm seeing in this administration than in previous u.s. administrations, is the confidence of the israeli people as to whether the u.s. could be counted on to back them up if they have to take action. the israelis have never asked us to join with them in a military action never and i think a lot of americans don't know that. we've supplied arms and supplied equipment. even planes, we have never supplied soldiers to an israeli action. israel never asked us for that, but we've always provided what i would call cover. we've provided a clear directive that we were behind israel and supported them. israelis that i talked to today do not feel that they are confident that this
8:08 pm
administration would stand behind an israeli action. is that the view on the street right now? >> yes, it is, governor. for the first, for the past three years, america's administration squandered the ability to impose even paralyzing sanctions on iran. and the sanks imposed now are too little, too late. and we do not know for sure that america will be there for us in this current administration and that's why we're concerned. we're being told, israel do not attack iran. but how can we not do it? we don't know what we're going to see 12 months from now. we have no guarantees that others will take care of this. now, twice in the the past israel took off-- took over and bombed facilities, the first one was in iraq in baghdad in 19 # 1. the whole world condemned us, but ten years after, the whole world blessed us for doing it. likewise in 2007 in syria, imagine, governor, if right now as outside fall, he would

have two or three nuclear bombs, what would the world look like? so if necessary we'll do the job for the world, but please, please, don't tell us to stand back and just wait and i guess, pray for something good to happen. >> and especially, praying for something good to happen out of the iranians and let me say there's a celebration between the goodness of the iranian people who i have great respect for and the iranian government whom i have zero respect because they've shown their brutal nature and irrational attitude not just to israel, but speak to the fact you're not the only people in the middle east concerned about iran so are the people of the saudis and emirates pan qatar and kuwait and jordan. there's a universal about iran in the middle east. >> that's absolutely right. iran acquiring a nuclear pom would men they're over entire

(applause) >> recently here at fox news, we celebrated ten years as the number one cable news network, but a self-described media watch dog organization with tax exempt status, media matters is leading a campaign to strike at the heart of fox news for the goal of disabling it and gone so far as hiring private investigators to look into the lives of fox news employees. i'm sure they're looking in on mine right now. boy will they be bored.
8:15 pm
recently the daily caller become exposing the media operations and the fox news contributor, tucker carlson joins me from washington. tucker, this is fascinating, if not explosive series that the daily caller has been doing and interestingly, let's talk about first, this idea that they're digging up dirt on fox employees. and that's the the stuff of pa political campaign not a watch dog organization. >> and not even a legitimate political campaign. i don't know a single presidential campaign, i know your campaign didn't do that and i don't know anyone that would do that, it's risky and unethical and it would potentially back fire. but we obtained an internal memo from media matters that laid out a plan to undermine fox. our private investigators to quote look into the personal lives of fox employees, targeting them online, going to their homes, placing billboards across from their houses, really harassing them
8:16 pm
and placing moles within fox news, sort of war without limits against fox. >> mike: there was a memo that you guys were able to obtain, this is just one of the quotes from it, it says, we must take fox news head on in a well funded presidential style campaign to discredit and embarrass the network, making it illegitimate in the eyes of news consumers. now, again, that seems highly unusual with you one of the things i found unusual that you uncovered, a reporter, ben smith used to be politico and now another organization. >> that's right. >> mike: apparently had this information more than a year ago. and never-- >> yes, he did. >> mike: never really revealed the intentionty of things that were being uncovered by this memo. why didn't he report the story? i mean, any journalist ought to jump at that. >> just as-- >> regardless of your point of view. >> you would think. in the course of our reporting, we were told by media matters employees that ben smith at politico was one of their go-to reporters and leak things to, someone they
8:17 pm
felt was a useful pawn for them. and so, we asked ben smith about this and in the course of that information, it turned out that he had obtained a cape of a 90 page mm mow and he we also have a copy of this memo, about a year ago, and never printed the vast majority of its contents a now, that's a bee traul trayal core idea of journalism and bring material to your readers. and he did not report that information. we think that's one of several examples of mainstream so-called mainstream reporters doing the bidding of media matters. >> mike: you know, tucker, i want to be fair to all of our viewers to explain that what media matters reports, it's their business, that's fine. in a country where we value free speech, they're free to say things, even if they're untrue, irresponsible and reckless all of which they've done. here is the rub and i think the heart of this story that needs to be told.
8:18 pm
and needs a thorough investigation. it's one thing if you do that as a political organization, because then you're using people's dollars that are nontax except. >> that's right. >> and you're just saying, i want to do this. but if you do it under the guise of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donors are getting tax benefits for doing this. >> correct. >> mike: they are not allowed by law to make these kind of statements. so, speak to the fact that this is not about their ability to say what they want to say, it is about their ability to use my tax dollars to come and basically destroy me and the organization that i work for? >> that's exactly right. i mean, we're not contesting their right to have left wing political views, lots of people do. we're contesting their right to take taxpayer subsidies to espouse those views and by the way, they're also in close collusion with the obama white house. we have a record after meeting
8:19 pm
between the media matters president and valerie jerrick, and we have knowledge and reported between the white house and media matters and another weekly meeting where a white house official attendance with media matters. so, look, this is in effect an arm of the obama campaign. and our view is, and i think the view of any nonaligned person looking at this, would be that's fine. but just don't expect to get tax exempt status. now, in real life as you know, it's hard to get anyone tax exempt status revoked, almost never happens. there are members of congress and we did a story of it, now looking into media matters tax exemption and we'll see what happens and this is the crux of why it's outrageous. >> mike: tucker, you and i both know that churches are regularly strend about the it cans status because the pastor says he's against abortion or marriage. and the pastor speaking his heart from a bubble cal world
8:20 pm
view. if that tax exempt status is threatened. help me understand why we wouldn't have outrage going on and media organizations such as the new york times, washington post and abc and nbc and cbs, why have they got touched this story? >> because they're in deep sympathy with the aims of media matters in many cases and also because they're implicated in what media matters does. rer reporters from every institution you just named, receive regularly and have over the years, information from media matters, the main way, in fact, that media matters dissem mates, and it's attempts to help et cetera, et cetera and media matter gets the benefit of the doubt. if a fox memo were shown saying we're going to
