tv Red Eye FOX News February 23, 2012 3:00am-4:00am EST
3:00 am
>> glenn: you don't believe there is cr mish eetts. >> bob: they welcome to "red eye." i'm greg gutfeld or as i am called on the new jersey turnpike, the fairfield fondler. andy, what is coming up on tonight's show? >> let's go crazy, america. our top story tonight, chris brown and rihanna making music together? the shocking story that has lead to an epidemic of puns involving the word hit and does boozing and movies drive kids to drink? a study we didn't need. and finally n an elevator to space? it may sound crazy, but if you think about it, where else would you take a space elevator to, greg? >> thank you, andy. >> welcome back. >> thanks. >> where were you yesterday? >> just tcb, andy. >> tcb? >> taking care of business. >> i know what it stands for. >> that's good.
3:01 am
>> we have nothing tonight. >> sure don't. >> we have paul mccurio on. >> i know. we will try to get through it all like we always do. >> it is only an hour. >> that it is. >> talk to you later. let's welcome our guest. she is so hot that anything she wears has hot pockets. i am here tonight with fox news contributor margaret hoover. the author of the book "american individualism." she is against it, i can't believe it. anyway, he is so sharp he can knockdown trees with his feelings. and his imaginary friend kicked sand in his eyes and stole his bike, my repulsive sidekick, bill schulz. and you can find his face strapped to the side of a cruiseship, paul mccurio. >> his latest cd is image makeover and boy could he use one. >> and he is a deceitful rash who belongs in the trash. good to see you, pinch. >> today on-line video of a
3:02 am
conference between major league baseball ground keepers. >>mutton chop and sassafras, over hydrating the tinkers to evers to chad. might be a little less on the beep. sadly hahn reold upkeeper whitey mcseparate but equal put the kabosh and ordered the land keeper dry up the mud if he knew what was good for him. curse words like rasberries rasberries and malarky were screamed from the stands on that day of days. >> there you go. >> stop the presses. >> can they work as a team after he made her scream? or could he score a hit after he landed several? i speak of chris brawn and -- chris brown and rihanna.
3:03 am
rihanna seen hereafter brown beat the crap out of her three years ago put out a remix of her song "birthday cake" that features her former lover/assaulter singing lines like" girl i want to "f" you and girl i have been missing your body. better get better aim. cm punk got into a twitter war with breezy after tweeting he wanted to curb stomp the singer so brown would be fighting someone who could defend himself. it went back and forth as all boring twitter fights do until the current wwe champion challenged brown to a fight with all proceeds going to a woman's shelter. >> chris wants to throw stones my way now. that's fine, but put the gloves on and get in the ring. i will make you feel as weak and powerless and scared and alone than any woman who had the miss fortune of knowing a
3:04 am
sad, cowardly little boy such as yourself. >> the fight is with a guy, so of course brown hasn't accepted. the good news is there is a new dance to accompany chris' new song. >> that's the chicken dance just to beat the point. margaret, isn't this proof that love conquers all? the abuser and the abused coming together like an atrial filibration. >> i think you need to start your own twitter war with chris brown jie. twitter wars are silly. >> the thing that is so sad about this, first of all rihanna is a role model for young girls.
3:05 am
she is the one who looks weak. look, we forgive in forgiveness and redemption, and you have to show you are remorseful. he wins a dpram me and says f all of you haters. it sucks. >> there are no role models, except maybe paul. you don't follow him in fashion tips or you wouldn't be dressed like a librarian/ lumber jack. >> wait a minute, satan dressed me. >> what do you make of this? >> look, normally i'm like, look, if you don't like what somebody is doing -- if you don't like it, don't watch it, don't buy the video, whatever. but in this case i think these people are flaunting and making money off of a bad, criminal event, and i think it is distasteful and it is a disconnect. it is like if oj got acquitted and he did a remake of "gentlemen prefer blondes." it would be awkward. or his own pumpkin carving
3:06 am
show, that would be weird. >> that would be weird. >> that's where the disconnect comes in. >> i think you are right. i don't know if they had done a duet of like "hurt so good" by john cougar mellancamp or" hit me with your best shot." >> how does she explain it? it has a great beat, but you can't dance to it because i am on the way to the hospital. >> do you think it is a publicity stunt? i don't know why she needs more press. she is very successful. but clearly it worked. way have 20 million, 30 million viewers and we are talking about it here on "red eye." >> chris brown is a terrible human being. i think rihamna is a mentally disturbed person. i don't think they #r* rational actors making decisions. i will say at the end of the day i don't think it is much of a story for folks in hollywood or the music business to be behaving badly. i for one don't go all tipper gore on the lyrics. >> it is the context of the
3:07 am
lyrics. >> that's the whole point. >> i think it roman tau sizes the volatile relationships. people love to be in passionate relationships. in this case somebody got the crap beaten out of her. if rihanna doesn't care, why should anyone else? >> good point. if she is that vacant and easy easy -- well, actually no. if she can forgive, can't we all? although getting back to the punk guy, he says he doesn't have a manager or pr agent like chris brown because he is lucky yes, sir than him. and i believe him. he would say don't do it for charity. do a charity for battered women. that would have been the icing on the lady beating cake. >> he did do that. >> he just said charity. >> no he said a woman's charity. yes, he did. >> you are the liar. >> can we go to the question of how do you collaborate with a person that beat you up? i have aunts that haven't
3:08 am
spoken in 40 years because they argued how to properly make meatballs? why do people go back to abusers? like me, why do i come back to this show? i think you are going to change, and you will never change. >> why do you continue to do stand up in front of these audiences who continually ridicule and humiliate you day in and day out, and yet you still show up. >> i don't know. tell me why. >> those actually don't look bad. >> what about this? i said this to you before, but this whole idea of twitter wars, it is kind of weird for adult males, right? especially when you add war to it. twitter wars. >> and it is also -- the thing that is weird for me is rihanna is not somebody who is standing up for herself. and now it is becoming the huh poke craw see. >> don't you think after something like this -- i feel bad the first time it
3:09 am
happened. not that i wish her any ill will. i am not going to waste anytime about what happens to rihanna. >> and there is a cautionary tale out there like whitney houston, we have a problem. in terms of the last name and everything. she hooked up with a guy that is bad for her, and he is bad for her. she never learned from whitney houston's mistake. >> she is addicted. she is addicted to drama. drama is her drug. i would say drugs are probably her drug. that has something to do with it as well. >> and that dude is more uncaring and insensitive. >> most of those fighters are very nice people though. >> the interesting thing is not a lot of people though this, but cm punk is his christian name. i believe it is gaelic. does the enemy of mankind have an ax to grind? rick santorum thinks so. on tuesday he defended his comments from 2008 about
3:10 am
somebody something called satan seen here. there he is. he is having his sights on america. they excavated the four-year-old speech at ave maria university. they kicked up a media crap storm. >> satan has done so by attacking the great institutions of america. bayousing those great pieces of pride, vanity and sensuality. it is the root to attack all of the strong plants that have so deeply rooted in american tradition. >> true. but when asked about his lucifer lament, he says she a person of faith who believes in good and evil adding -- >> it is not relevant to what we have discussed in america today.
3:11 am
that's what we are going to talk about in the campaign. >> for more let's go live to red eye's senior morality correspondent. >> actually my uncle gary who is a barrel of laughs, but he smokes in the shower. it is disgusting. anyway, paul, your life is a living hell. do you think religious imagery hurts or helps a candidate? >> i think it depends on the imagery you choose to use. it is not because it is santorum and republican or democrat, but it is like call me crazy, but i don't want my presidential candidates using language that sounds like he is trying to prevent kevin bacon from dancing.
3:12 am
>> fair point. i'm surprised it came from you. he was speaking to catholic university and you will speak in religious imagery. he is not going to go and do some hip hop wrap or blue comedy you indulge in at your sinful club. >> if you want to scare people, have a look at their economic situation. he should get a flashlight and hold it up to their face and read people's 401k's. you don't need to use satan to do it. >> it is rare i am agreeing with you. is santorum right? is this four-year-old speech not relevant? is the stuff that happened when you are not running for president important? >> it is the stuff when you are at the forefront and you are the alternative to mitt romney and then they go and look at everything you said. the problem is not the reference to satan, but the problem is the reference to satan in all of the other things he has said. he has been clear about what he thinks of homosexual acts and women in the workplace and women in combat. the problem is it paints a
3:13 am
picture of somebody who is actually pretty much outside the american mainstream, and he is fighting a culture war as a crusader that sits in critical judgment of the mainstream of american lifestyles. that isn't going to res son nate even with republicans let alone the independents that will decide the election. >> i am not sure it is outside the mainstream. i'm sure it is outside the mainstream when you live on the east coast. >> the majority of americans even in marriage use contraception. he doesn't even believe in contraception in a marriage. >> what part of the american people anywhere believe that satan has its sights set on america? >> i do. >> then you are crazy too. satan has its sights set on the republican party. >> i think all of the networks should no the have moderators that are moderating. they should get carnival markers. it is turning into a complete sideshow.
3:14 am
the next think after the santorum surge we will have the bearded lady surge, and this is a total -- >> a two-headed candidate. >> and the democrats love this. you know what they can't defend? they can't defend obama's record of failure in the economy. they want a culture war. we have people like rick santorum out there who is playing an empty suit version of rick santorum and giving them exactly what they want. >> it is the most politically tone deaf thing you can do. >> you are a herman cane man through and through. herman cane had to go because of certain woman reasons. what is left for you then? >> we had gary johnson on and he is going to get like a half a percent. >> rick santorum is the nominee. he will go down in a landslide. it will make the site look like a squeaker. >> but he is not going to get the nomination.
3:15 am
he thinks it is who is matters to. it is not like he is crazy for being crazy, right? don't you think? >> i just like making noises like that. >> that was his pig noise. >> so when someone goes off the rails like this, or seems to, in his mind he is not going off the rails and that's part of the problem. >> here is my theory on this. i think you are in a religious setting and you use religious imagery. if you are in sunday school you will talk about the devil. everybody does. you talk about god and heaven. the other thing is i have grown up in the last 20 years of looking on tv 1k3* calling the united states the great say tan and -- satan and burning the effigies and we don't have any of that for ourselves. go like, you know what, this is what we do. we should show like post super bowl riots and tell them that is our fundamental.
3:16 am
imagine how scared our enemies would be when we have a president talking about satan. they are not used to it. >> we went nuts on the jar my. >> -- the jeremiah. but they say satan is coming. as a catholic, i have never heard a homily where they talk about satan is coming for america. >> you have to go to my church. >> clearly. >> am i the only one in the somebody finally said it camp? the fact of the matter is i am a registered voter. i am not clear on that. i can a blackout drunk. i do not care about the economy. i don't care about iran. i don't care about all of these situations. what i care about is the invasion of the dark world is imminent. the only way we can stop them is by having unprotected sex with our wives and the sole goal being to pro create.
3:17 am
the devil will not come down to georgia. and he is bringing a lot more to the fiddle. >> he couldn't smite anybody and he lost in a fiddle contest. >> i don't know what smiting means, but he will be the first one to be sodomized in the pits of hell for all you have done. >> i hope so. >> i want to make two points. one point is and reverend wright was talking talking about evil he was talking about america. santorum is talking about an exter national threat. >> it is not an exter national threat. everything in our society is tainted. >> let me finish. that's an exter national threat. somebody is invading america as opposed to reverend wright saying america is evil. rick santorum cut the beer tax in half four times in
3:18 am
pennsylvania. >> he is my lord and save yes, sir. i am with you sick santorum. >> and he is still a steelers fan and it won't do it for me. >> you can't talk like it is the voiceover of vincent price in a 50s movie. that's what it sounds like. >> we have that joke in there for you. >> you are such a jerk. >> i am shooting for something. >> you don't make your guests feel welcome. >> i don't want you to be welcome. i want you to be on edge and -- >> i feel like rihanna. >> i would never lay hands on you. you wouldn't be worth it. ben affleck stops by -- jay leno's show. not "red eye." we didn't bother asking. can drinking in the movies turn you into a drunk? i usually sip on a wine cooler through a twizzler.
3:22 am
does the silver screen create drunk teens? according to a new study stars who knock back whisky, beer and wine are prompting youngsters to hit the booze. researchers at dartmouth medical school, go hurricanes, say a liquored up film star is a bigger risk for teen drinking than having liquor loving parents or booze all over your home. the survey of 6500 brats aged 10-14 found those who watch the most movies with alcohol were twice as likely to start drinking as those who watch the least. he says, it is really not incorporated into the ratings at all. there is just as much boozing in pg-13 movies as there are in r-rated movies.
3:23 am
all of which leads to a question. will the plot lines become the r-rated guidelines? does night kitty hate it when the lights are on? >> thanks for proving my poimt, night kitty. paul, are you a lonely drunk. we have proven that. a lot of times i will leave and you will still be drinking. does this happen from watching movies? >> i have a kid. what i do is i get my -- >> that's a bottle. you can't call it a kid. even if you put underpants on it it is still a bottle of rye. >> i don't know why i talk. you know -- you are such a jerk. it is not the movie industry's job to police kids.
3:24 am
parents should police kids. george clooney is busy saving the world. he can't watch your kids. if kids are influenced by movies, if we believe that, movie makers should be making movies of kids watching movies so the kids stay in movie theaters all the type. see if you can follow that logic, small brain. >> i like the message of self-responsibility. but when you were a kid you saw the pictures of the sexy women smoking cigarettes, or i did and i thought, oh it is so sexy. >> and i thought i wanted to have a vagina. >> no, but the glorification of cigarettes impacted kids. >> i tried smoking once when i was 12 and i didn't like it. >> you are -- you can take your original experience and count yourself as a lone wolf out there. >> pretty much nobody smokes in movies anymore. can this happen with alcohol? will they take one of the greatest joyce in life? >> this country was founded on drinking.
3:25 am
half of them were not sober when writing the founding documents. if you are against alcohol, you are against america. >> i agree with you 100% even though you are a sodomite. bill, you had the opposite affect. people see you and immediately quit drinking. >> that wasn't a question. >> i know. >> there is a zero cause and affect back up. i looked for it and it wasn't there. i can tell you we started drinking way before we ever stopped. even a pg-13 movie. the cause? we were board. the affect, maybe from making out. possibly heavy petting. that's why the kids do it. >> i am going to make a brilliant point here. everything looks better in movies. somebody is wearing a suit, it looks better. when somebody is smoking -- when you see an ugly person
3:26 am
smoking, it doesn't make you want to smoke. when michelle pfeiffer is smoking smoking in "tequilla sunrise" it makes me want to smoke. everything you do in life looks better on the big screen. drinking looks awesome. smoking looks awesome. really bad crime looks awesome. every single thing looks better. >> even liberals look better. >> liberals look better. jay the only thing that looks worse is conservatives. >> what does that have to do with this? that was a route to a point. >> it was any pif -- it was an epiphany. they are exaggerated in comical fashion. a hangover is knots just a hang cover, but it is a hangover 2. it has bad tattoo. >> and the other side watch "las vegas" and you will never drink again. >> i drank through the whole movie. >> there are plenty of month of vees that don't glam more
3:27 am
rise them. if you eliminate them? you are left with a warhol movie with two people staring at each other. >> it could be that kids are more likely to drink are more likely to go to movies that have risky behavior in it. >> i think it goes back to the parents. >> the same people who want all of these rating systems and the government to step in are the people who don't want to have the -- government will do it. there will be some agency that takes care of your kids. >> i got my kid drunk and take him to movies so he will nod off during the porn i take him to. >> you are a terrible father. >> there are no porn theaters. this is the 21st century. >> are you really saying that? do you have a comment -- he is a terrible person. i hope andy comes on and tells him he is a terrible person because he is. e mail us. red eye at fox news.com. from you a social worker and need to track down paul, call me, 212-462-5050.
3:28 am
3:32 am
let's find out what we have done wrong. for that we go to andy levy. hi, andy. >> hi, greg, how are you? >> doing all right. chris brown and rihanna. you noted the song he sings "girl i want to f you right now. it has been a longtime and missing your body." crng they ripped that off of a hallmark card. >> where is the original national tee and creativity? >> i don't know if they will get sued or what. >> i hope so. >> i feel like i sent that card to someone at some time. >> you sent it to me, and it wasn't my birthday. >> it was something special. since you all spent the story saying you didn't understand what rihanna is doing of the the sad thing is she looks weak. chris you said she is a disturbed human being, rihanna not margaret and paul you don't understand how somebody could go back to an abuser. the executive director tells
3:33 am
mtv news that she is not surprised because, quote, many victims get back with their abusers even after an assault. they love them and abusers are good at convincing you they changed. that's the story. >> drama addict. it is tough to judge rihanna. i wish she wasn't doing it and it is sad. >> we forget that she is young. >> 24. >> when someone has that much fame and you think they are -- 24 emotionally is not mature. greg is 40 and look at him. >> 40, wow, he just knocked 10 off. >> by the way, i am not going -- i am going to judge rihanna's music, the birthday cake remix. it is right up there with the black eyed peas. it is so awful. >> i thought you meant awesome because the black eyed pea rtz
3:34 am
greatest american ban. >> did you know the founding father s who have loved the black eyed pea sphz. >> no. they would have owned the black eyed peas. >> oh. you are a racist. >> how am i a resist for pointing out that the founding fathers had slaves. >> you will get a letter from al sharpton. >> if rihanna have a kid they can name it black and blue ivy. that was my one joke. >> first of all, greg, you mentioned the college and i think you said go cornhuskers. ave maria is known as the girines. i couldn't figure out why. ie, i clicked on a few links. the founder of the school served as a marine for three or four years. you may have heard of him.
3:35 am
he founded dominos pizza. >> i love dominos pizza and i love him. >> do you really? >> domino's he swraw is great. >> i don't think there is enough garlic in it. >> your mouth more than makes up for it. >> i don't even know what that means. >> his lips are a great conduit for garlic. if you took a microscope you will find something living under the inflatable -- >> you are saying once a year he an sprinkle us with garlic and safe from vampires for 12 months? >> his face is lined with a bottomless bread basket. >> you have a hairy back. >> i don't, actually. >> chris, in 2008 santorum says satan has set its sights on america, and they are attacking the greatest students in america.
3:36 am
now he says when he is asked about it, what he said was, quote, not relevant to what is going on in america today. if you believe satan was attacking the u.s. that would be relevant. >> i think so. he said "don't worry, i will defend everything i said." unfortunately he said a lot of crazy step. they should just have closed captioning clarification. so while are you talking below it goes, i don't really mean this. >> hang on. does anyone think he didn't really mean this? >> of course he meant it. but why are we shocked that people say things and then backtrack. they cater to the audience in front of them and they say -- >> but that's the goal. >> have i a couple of points. one is in santorum's favor. paul, you mentioned that greg brought up you use religious imagery. i agree with that. but was he speaking metaphor
3:37 am
rickly or literally? if he was talking about a metaphor rick satan you can say, oh well. but if that is what he believes regardless of where he is saying it. >> it is the worst kind of fear mongering. there are other ways to do it. >> paul, don't say you agree because that's not at all what i was saying! >> okay so then why don't you explain. >> why does he have to be hip and current? if that is his religious belief that's it. does he have to change the word. >> he is attacking america using pride, van tree and sen shoe walt, i don't even know what that means. >> that's your problem. >> my very existence then is sinful. i cannot be sensitive. >> it would be okay if he accompanied that speech with the electric guitar.
3:38 am
>> maybe like a sitar. >> i want to point out, what parts of america do they believe they have the sights set on america. i can't quite answer that question, but a santorum aide says earlier on wednesday, quote, i don't know what is news making that santorum believes in right and wrong. i don't know how that is out of the mainstream. there was a 2007 gallop poll where 77% believe in the devil. that's mainstream. >> that's not the point. you don't believe the devil is coming to attack america. you can believe in a lot of stuff. i believe that all of -- that volvos exist. >> by the way, that is santorum's press people trying to cover up something that is crazy.
3:39 am
>> aren't there other ways to scare voters not to vote for democrats other than using satan? >> paul, i honestly -- i made my feelings clear. i don't think you are being fare fare -- fair to him. i think he is saying these things because he honestly believes him. >> i think you are accusing him of something he is not doing and that is not right. >> i think it is both. >> he does believe that and that is a huge problem. he thinks the devil is coming because people like chris chris. >> he was right about that. >> i kind of tend to agree with that. >> the fact is satan represents evil and you believe evil exists. >> but satan -- i mean, come on. you can put all of the lipstick you want on this pick, but it is still a pick.
3:40 am
a pig. >> satan comes in the form of a trans sexual pig? i -- >> i give up with you. lastly, banning booze. bill, you said there is zero cause and affect in this stud dough. a, you didn't read the study so stop lying. >> i wrote the story, i definitely did. i had to go another link to get a quote. and the researchers said there was no prove of a direct causal relationship. >> but i didn't say the researchers didn't agree with me. jay looter. >> looter can't -- >> lord. >> lord can't help you now. >> he is all yours. >> thank you, andy, see new the bottom half -- of the club we are going to. coming up, vince vaughn is dead -- tired fans quoting lines to "wedding crasher" and movies 10 years ago. he has done a lot of great stuff since then, really. it is hot women. i'm sure the tape is relevant to whatever story we are
3:44 am
should every rn be a 10? a swedish hospital, is there any other kind, recently posted a recruitment ad for nurses telling applicants, quote, you will be motivated, professional, and sense of humor, and you will be tv series hot. i wonder if they are talking about moud. you are welcome to seek a summer job. the hospital's nursing manager was surprised at the controversy that ensued telling "the daily mail" quote, we are looking to recruit come tint nurses, but wanted -- competent nurses, but wanted to stick out. we must discuss it in our -- >> lightning rooooouuunnnnd. light thig round. lightning round. >> the ad was tongue and cheek. but was it still appropriate as a woman? were you deeply offended?
3:45 am
you could definitely be a swedish nurse. >> this is in sweden. it would never pass muster in the u.s. tongue and cheek and only in sweden. my husband's favorite country. >> you could say there are a bunch of meatballs over there, but i won't. how crucial is it that nurses and doctors be hot? i would say the hotness ranks above competence. >> absolutely. you go to the hospital and it would be a lot more pleasant if they -- if all of the nurses were attractive. city might even volunteer to go. >> you are too young to have a prostate exam. >> really? >> i don't want to disc our nation's great nurses. i had my appendicitis out and
3:46 am
they were great. thank god there are no look requirements for comedy or you would still be a lawyer. that's not really a question. >> is it too hot? women really want -- if you are a super hot swedish woman are you going to be a nurse? >> "i want to clean bed pans for 40 years" or i am marying a rich guy. i am going with the rich guy. >> it is a fulfilling:00 makes. you wouldn't understand it. there are some women out there who have gratification overtaking care of people. >> i don't trust super attractive people. they don't have to study in class. they get by on theiring loos. >> you don't want to hear that when you are going under. >> a, why does it have to be white? your odds are better. you are not going to stand out. >> well that brings up a good point. if everyone in sweden is tv
3:47 am
series hot, is that a good thing? what has sweden given us? abba? that's it. they have the poor hospital care from the -- >> if you have some creepy nomes like greg it balances everything out. you bring that creature into the room and make -- and maybe things will get done if he can reach the bed pan. >> it is not often we can do is a story about sweden because they are basically irrelevant. that's why i love this stoimplet thursdays do great things. it is time to take a break. more stuff is on the way. look over there.
3:51 am
welcome back. a group of scientists is arguing that dolphins and whales should be considered nonhuman persons with life, liberty and well being. one of the eggheads talking at a science conference in vancouver which is in mexico. notice the marine mammals have most of the characteristics that humans have including
3:52 am
intelligence and self-awareness, social complexity and of course a blow hole. chris is there a point here? >> i don't want to get bleeped. >> are these -- because they are smarter than the other average animal creatures out there that they are somehow not an animal, but not a human, but a nonperson human or something? >> they are animals. they are not humans. >> and by the way, i am -- i have dogs. i love animals. >> i say too much. >> some say that, but it is an accusation. >> i think it does a disservice to the animal community for folks interested in proking the -- protecting the animals. dolphins and whales should get the human protections. >> it lowers the importance of humanity when you raise --

hmm? is that what you said to me? >> i feel bad about the nome comment. >> how would you deliver a subpoena to the whale? >> with a trank hua lidser gun. with a drank hua lieser gun. we treat each other so poorly. i don't love dolphins, but i'm sure one dolphin never maced another dolphin over a flat screen tv. >> i will disagree with you. as is common knowledge that whales and dolphins are rapists. it is a fact. just google dolphin and whale and pro create. >> i would much rather be in a tina net than a wal-mart on a black friday. >> yes, but you would end up in a tuna net. >> what is that? it looks like tuna. >> is that a dolphin? >> it is paul mccurio's
3:54 am
