>> bill: o'reilly factor is on. tonight. >> we didn't win by a lot but we won by enough and that's all that counts. >> bill: governor mitt romney now has momentum but john mccain says all the negative campaigning is hurting both him and the republic party. >> i have been in very tough campaigns, i don't think i have seen one that was as personal and as characterized by some attacks as these are. >> bill: mitt romney will be here. >> have you been to mcdonald's lately? >> i'm not laughing, damn it, i'm not laughing, and, damn it, don't you laugh. because they are killing you with your taste buds. >> bill: louis farrakhan telling african-americans not to eat at mcdonald's. why? >> you don't understand satan. >> dennis miller who does understand the prince of

darkness. >> ha ha ha ha. >> dick morris, dennis kucinich and ann coulter will all analyze the primary vote last night. caution, you are about to enter the no spin zone, the factor begins right now. captions by closed captioning services >> bill: hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. no talking points memo this evening because we have governor mitt romney standing by. as you know the governor won the primaries in arizona and michigan last night reigniting his campaign. now it's on to 11 primaries and caucuses next tuesday night. exit polling from arizona and michigan shows that mitt romney did well among women and voters who believe he is the best candidate to defeat president obama. in michigan exit polling shows even though romney defeated santorum by three points it would have been closer to 7 if democrats had not voted for
5:02 am
senator santorum in big numbers. obviously republic voters in michigan strongly favor the governor who joins us now from bexley, ohio, outside of columbus. so, why do you think democrats voted for senator santorum in michigan open primary. why do you think they did that, governor? >> well, they got the news from michael moore to barack obama's team to frankly rick santorum as well saying go play mischief in the republic party, vote against mitt romney and try and give this to rick santorum. you know, they don't want to face me in the fall. they would rather face rick santorum. so they came in large numbers and voted for rick. you know, i think that was a huge mistake on his part. republics saw right through that. and saw that if barack obama wants rick santorum to run against him we are not going to give him rick santorum to run against. >> you basically think it was political trick play and democrats did -- you got 18% and santorum got something like 58% of the democratic vote which was 9% of the
5:03 am
total, which is significant. which is significant. you will remember that last time around the republic side did the same thing to barack obama. it was interesting. all right. so you think it was just that democrats don't want to run against you. they would rather have rick santorum as the nominee. that's what you say? >> that's what someone like michael moore said on the air and a number of democrats. i saw a piece on the news where they interviewed people who had voted as democrats. they said, yeah, we are trying to give this to rick santorum because we want to stop mitt romney. of course, there have also been ads by the uaw and other organized labor groups against me. they are trying to sway the votes inside the republic primary against me. and, you know, that's okay. i understand the nature of the process. i think it was a mistake for rick santorum to join in lead with them and to do robo calls saying hey vote against mitt romney. vote with rick santorum. >> bill: can i understand why santorum did that he wanted to win. it's actually a compliment to you that the democratic party
5:04 am
would be doing that that's the way i look at it? >> me too. >> bill: let's get into a couple of issues here. you know this maureen dowd this columnist for the "new york times"? do you know who she is. >> i do. >> bill: she puts forth today that you guys, doesn't matter how are, you, santorum, you don't have a chance against obama. is he going to wipe you off the face of the earth because have you damaged each other so much in the primary system that the independent voters and others think that you guys just don't have what it takes. that's what dowd puts forth and i think that's the prevailing wisdom among the chattering classes in washington and the beltway. but, what guess me is john mccain saying it as well. let's roll the tape. >> i have been in very tough campaigns. i don't think i have seen one that was as personal and as characterized by so many attacks as these are. and, frankly, one of the reasons is the super pacs. >> bill: how do you reply that you guys are damaged because you are beating each other up
5:05 am
so much. >> these super pacs i think john mccain is right. the super pacs are a new feature in american politics right now. big money in the case of the santorum campaign and gingrich campaign a single billionaire responsible for the lion's share of the funding of the super pacs and that has a big impact. i think the process is going to go on longer because of the super pac dollars that come in. i can tell you, you know, i recognize that down the road we are going to get attacked by a billion-dollar obama machine and in some respects this toughens us up a bit and gets the attacks out there. people get a little tired of them and hopefully we will be able to regain the strength once we have a nominee and we can focus on president obama and his weaknesses. his weakness internationally and his weakness with regard to the economy. >> bill: you don't think all of this blood letting in the debates and campaigns is going to hurt you or whoever the nominee is going to be in the general campaign? is that what you are telling me tonight? >> well, i would love to have an acclimation that everybody just agrees on the best nominee. that doesn't happen.
5:06 am
that's not the real world. you have to battle. you have to earn it. you have to work for it we are doing just that the other campaigns are doing the same thing. you know, i recognize that the process is what it is. and i will fight to this process and hopefully be able to get the support of our party and then going on to focus increasingly on president obama and his failures. >> bill: do you feel you are damaged because of this? do you agree with senator mccain? are you damaged because of all of this brawling? >> well, you know, if you get attacked by someone, it doesn't make you better off. on the other hand, it toughens you up. so there are two sides. one, we have exposed a lot of the attacks and i'm sure the obama people will pick up on them and run with them themselves. also, i think i'm tougher as a result of this. i think the other guys are as well. we will become united when this is all over. we are going to get behind our nominee. >> bill: i have known you for a long time i know your sense of humor. you are a governor and i worked up in boston. we go way back. whenever you make a joke like did you at the nascar race and you said you saw some people
5:07 am
in cheese cheap little rain coats way to spend the big bucks. you are always going to be portrayed as a rich guy who is out of touch with the folks, condescending to the folks. am i correct? that's the way you are going to be portrayed no matter what you do? >> yeah, you are probably right. the narrative that the obama people want to push and that members of the mainstream media are very anxious to do for them is that anything i do joking around and having fun that somehow that fits their narrative. >> bill: you are going to be a snob and this, that, and the other thing. is it worth it even for you to say those things? >> you know, it's hard to imagine all the things they are going to try to turn into attacks. that's the first time i have heard the one you have mentioned. i have won a garbage bag for rain gear myself. we were out there in the rain. we were getting soaked. i didn't have a rain coat myself. i would have liked one of those. >> bill: i know you were kidding around with the folks. i do it all the time. you know anything you say can
5:08 am
and will be used against you. i have to mirandize you tonight, governor, in front of the nation, okay? you have the right to remain silent. >> yeah, exactly. >> bill: here is what i don't understand about you, okay? you gone on one of these debates, you say i didn't inherit my money, i made my money and did i it honestly. take it or leave it. but you did inherit money from your father. and then you don't say what you did what the money. you want to tell the folks what did you with the inheritance you got? do you want to tell them tonight? >> sure, you know, what my mom and dad gave us when they passed away, i gave away. >> bill: why didn't you do that in the debate? why didn't you tell everybody in the debate? >> well, i have described that before. it's not the first time. >> bill: you didn't do that in that big forum. i bet you people watching tonight don't know you gave every cent of it away. a lot of it to byu university to honor your father. >> yeah. >> yeah, we established the
5:09 am
george romney institute of public management. and talking about governmental management. take government lessons in the and apply in the public sector. best way to honor his legacy frankly at my alma matter. >> bill: why didn't you say that, governor? why don't you say stuff like that? do you see what i'm talking about here? i have to bring these up. you said have said it. >> well, i don't think of everything perfectly in every debate. i mast make mistakes. and in this case that's probably a good thing to raise. you don't want to look like you are patting yourself on the back either. >> bill: could i that all the time. i pat myself on the back all the time. >> you got better ratings than i do. i can learn from you. >> bill: i'm just trying to be fair here to everybody. you know, as i said, i didn't know -- i did know the governor for a long time. you are not the way -- look, you are not the way the left wing press is portraying you and barack obama is not the way the right wing press is portraying him.
5:10 am
i'm going to be fair. neither of you, personally, personally, are the way you are being portrayed by the media i think that's unfair. last word, governor. go. >> well, this is an election all about the direction of america. and the question is are we going to have a president who understands how to make the economy work for the american people and get people back to work? and my experience in the private economy, with real jobs helping grow businesses, sometimes successfully and sometimes not, that experience we need in the white house. if people think they just need a politician in the white house, we have got that. if you want somebody who is going to get the economy going, that's what i would bring to the white house. >> bill: all right. i do that, governor. appreciate you coming on tonight. all right. we will see you soon. thank you. next on the run down, dick morris analyze the governor's remarks and what happened last night in the vote. later, culture warriors on a very controversial new study. since wealthy americans are more unethical than regular folks. and we're coming right back.
5:13 am
5:14 am
georgia, oklahoma, and tennessee, and he he has not done well in the south and i was in texas last weekend and they don't like him much there. so i think he is going to have trouble in those three states. he has got to win ohio where he starts off behind but probably after last night he is ahead. vermont, of course, win, massachusetts he will win. and then we need to see how he does in the northeast. you have alaska, idaho, north dakota and three days before super tuesday the state of washington. i think he is going to win all of those. it's going to be difficult. the basic point though is that 46% of the delegates are chosen in winner take all states. the other 54 are proportional representation. so you win michigan and you get three delegate margin. you win another state and you get a five delegate margin. and it's very hard to pile up a majority in the four way race. the way i look at it is that if romney wins all of the
5:15 am
western and northeastern and midwestern states. >> bill: northwestern states. you misspoke. northwestern states. >> northwestern, northeastern, and midwestern. not the south. in the winner-take-all states he wins them all except pennsylvania which santorum will win. then then he wins california on june 6th that's 172 votes winner take all. if he does all of that he he will come into the convention with about 100 votes more than he needs. 1250. he. if you miss two or three of those do you not have a majority on the first ballot. >> bill: here is his big advantage on tuesday and the folks need to know this. he can compete in all of the states. he has got the money and the resources to do it. the others don't. they don't have the money. >> i think that's true. but i think there is a deeper point here. the democratic party and barack obama have made an endorsement in this race they
5:16 am
have endorsed santorum. 100,000 democrats showed up to vote in michigan. 53% of them went for santorum. 100 democrats do not participate in a republic primary unless they have dragged out kicking and screaming by the unions and the party. and orchestrated effort like this is a statement by obama that he wants to run against santorum. we should listen to him. what do you mean we should listen to him. >> bill: governor said the same thing as you said. compliment to romney though, right? >> yeah. we should listen to that we should understand that we may not want to give him the guy they want to run against but give them the guy they don't want to run against. >> bill: i don't know who we is by the way. i guess you carry that mouse around in the pocket all the time i don't know who we is. >> i do. >> bill: john mccain and governor really didn't want to address this but i made him. says, look, if this blood letting continues the more it continues the weaker all the
5:17 am
candidates get he says governor romney as you heard. hard to launch these campaign -- these smears next fall when everybody has already hurt him in the spring. where do you fall in on that? >> i totally disagree with mccain on that. i think is he frankly just pushing for the limits on super pacs because campaign finance reform is his thing. i believe it is a good idea to get these attacks out here now because they make them old news when obama hits him the more he gets hit on bain capital. the less obama is going to be able to do it in the general election. i just remind you, remember how obama got clobbered with reverend jeremiah wright and then the general election nobody mentioned it? because it was old news. getting the stuff out there now and getting the rebuttal to it and seeing overcome it i think is ideal training for the fall. obama is going to have stale
5:18 am
negatives to throw not fresh new ones. >> bill: it will be a class warfare deal no doubt about it congressman dennis kucinich on the obama administration actually saying they really don't want to lower gas prices. wait until you hear this. and then dennis miller on the vote last night. more crazy stuff from louis farrakhan. those reports after these messages.
5:21 am
>> bill: factor follow up segment tonight. chu testified before the house appropriations committee yesterday. he was asked if the obama administration wants lower gas prices. >> the overall goal is decrease our dependency on oil. to build and strengthen our economy and to decrease our dependency on oil.
5:22 am
we think that if you consider all these policies, including energy efficiency, you know, we think that would can go a long way to being less dependent on oil and diversing our supply and we'll help the american economy and the american consumers. >> bill: you might have missed it there because it was covered because he said. no the question was do you want to lower the oil prices and he said no. joining us now from washington congressman dennis kucinich from ohio. look, congressman, here is my problem. lots of folks and you know. this you are a man of the people. getting hurt. they don't have the extra cash to put in their gas tank right now. so how do you react to secretary chu? >> well, i think we have to look at the options that are here. we can release oil from the strategic petroleum reserve. we can get the financial commodities trading commission to go after the speculators who are adding 15 to 30% on the price of a barrel of oil. you know, there is speculation going on here that is hurting the american people. it's not that we have a limited number of options
5:23 am
here. >> bill: president obama is not doing anything. all he does is give a speech saying it's a complicated situation whereby i yell we know that. that's why we elected you. and the strategic oil reserves isn't necessary because there is plenty of oil in the u.s.a. as you know. because we have had a warm winter. >> not only -- >> bill: plenty of stockpile of oil here the worldwide price is driving it up and the oil companies in america say we are going to go with them. they don't have to but they do. go. >> no, bill, when you invited me on, did i a quick check on the markets. and we see that demand demand for oil in this country has been down. imports have been up and exports are up. prices going up. the markets are being manipulated and now you have this potential with iran and oil companies are gaining it and driving prices up even more. >> bill: that's right. if you were watching the factor last week. >> aimed at the consumers. >> bill: if you were watching the factor last week and from lay and new york you would
5:24 am
have known that and not had to look it up. your guy barack obama is doing nothing about it nothing. >> well, i think that you are going to find that when the administration looks at the speculation in oil markets and i'm hopeful that this financialization of commodities, which, you know caused us, the financialization of the home mortgage business destroyed so much equity in this country. the finalization of commodities in terms of oil is driving up the price of oil and if they look at the speculators that will cause the price to come back down. >> bill: i agree with that the bottom line on this is that chu doesn't want oil prices to come down. he wants them to actually go up. so alternative energy is brought more into the forefront. >> we need alternative energy, bill. >> bill: ohio, very big state. rick santorum leading but that could change because of the vote last night. how do you see it? who is going to win? romney or santorum in ohio next tuesday night?
5:25 am
>> well, as you know, i don't have a vote on that one, bill. but i think it's going to be close. i think that it's obvious that in the republic primary it's one of the most spirited primaries we have ever seen. i think that you will find that in the northern part of the state governor romney will have a lot of support and in the southern part of the state you will probably see senator santorum have a lot of support. it's going to be an interesting battle in ohio. and i'm looking forward to watching that. >> bill: come on. give me a prediction. who is winning? bologna. who is going to win? come on. >> that race is going to be too close to call. >> bill: come on. >> o'reilly, look. if you are asking me to be an expert on republic politics, i can't do it. >> bill: but you always have to know what the opposition is thinking, congressman, in order to stay ahead. do you know what i'm talking about? >> well, i would say that governor romney has a slight edge but he could be caught on election day by senator santorum. >> bill: i want you to go and tell president obama because
5:26 am
you are his pal, have you got to do something about these oil prices and help the folks out. >> i will do that. >> bill: anything. anything. all right, congressman. thank you. >> i will do that thank you. >> bill: plenty more as the factor moves along this evening. are wealthy americans more unethical than the folks? new study says yes. culture carriers will analyze. dennis miller. farrakhan and hawaii 5-0. miller got killed in that show. we hope you stay tuned for that report.
5:29 am
>> bill: culture warrior segment tonight. new study published by the national academy of sciences finds that wealthy americans are more likely to behave unethically than the regular folks are. wow. here now the warriors gretchen carlson and margaret hoover. how do they come to that conclusion, hoover. >> they conducted seven tests in the middle of san francisco. i'm sure that the locality has nothing to do with this. they took drivers in fancy cars and found the drivers in the fancy cars and the
5:30 am
expensive flashy shiny cars were four times more likely to cut off other drivers. they found that they were three times more likely to cut off pedestrians. then they did a test in an office with candy that they specifically told people this candy is reserved for children. the wealthy higher socioeconomic class was two times more likely to take the candy that was for the kids. >> did they have a hidden camera? >> i don't think it was hidden. no, it wasn't hidden. that's the worst part. sure, you can have one but it's really for the kids. wealthy people took twice as much as the non-wealthy people. >> bill: just driving and candies? >> there were others. seven tests. >> bill: without a doubt, the fat cats were more ethical. >> i don't know. i have a few questions about this study. first of all conducted at berkeley well nobody liberal institution. >> bill: it's a communist place, yes. >> in san francisco. i find. >> bill: communist place. >> i find the timing very interesting because this falls right into the whole talking
5:31 am
point politically about occupy wall street. >> bill: you think this study might be a little bit biased, a little bit skewed. >> the time something interesting. because in the conclusion one of the reef searchers said. this these findings shed role on the inequality. patterns of unethical conduct. let me finish. what does that say? that talks about fair share. if you were more fair you would be more ethical. >> bill: this study was designed to come up with these conclusions no matter what. however, i will put forth that i think wealthy americans in general not me of course have a sense of entitlement. they will cut you off they will do things because they are entitled to do it. it's almost their birth right to do it? >> achieved a level level of success. different from other people. different rules. >> bill: psychology is in play. all right, now, you may remember that when whitney houston died i made a big deal on this program and leno
5:32 am
program and others, today show that the media turned away from ms. houston's situation and looked the other way except for the tabloid press which exploited it and then obviously she winds up dead. so when i saw angelina jolie the other night at the academy awards i said this. go. >> bill: is it just me or is she looking mighty slim these days? emmaus united stated even? i was kind of emaciated even? ignoring her physical profile but she is a role model for some women and something is going on here. and she is slight. let's hope it's nothing unusual. am i out of line here, carlson? >> i don't think so. but, i believe that angelina jolie has been too thin for a long time. >> bill: she is thinner now than ever before, right? >> if you look at pictures. i asked the produce tore go back and look at pictures. this is the first one from 2003. >> bill: look at the arm now that's much thinner. >> my point she is heavier thin. look how thin her arms are when she is pregnant.
5:33 am
i hate to show you my arms when i was pregnant. 2007. in between just having had a baby, so this has been on my mind for quite some time wow, she is way too thin. >> bill: you know better than i do about female profiles in the sense of what is normal and what is -- would you say she is underweight? >> she certainly looks. doctors have going on air and says she looks dangerously mal-nourished. >> bill: who said that. >> a dr. called dr. drew penske in los angeles. hallmark science of nutritional deficiency another doctor on his show said. i'm not a doctor but that certainly doesn't look healthy. what i applaud you for, bill, wouldn't it be great if media leads like you started to talk about a standard of beauty. >> bill: i'm sure the word got back to her. >> standard of beauty in our culture should not be emaciated. >> bill: that's what i'm worried about is teenagers see this. >> remember karen carpenter. >> she died of a heart attack from an nor anorexia.
5:34 am
>> bill: nobody said a word about her. big star and all of a sudden she is out because she was 90 opounds. >> died of an nor anorexia. we are just saying, i'm saying that her appearance was a little bit startling the other night. all right, ladies, thanks very much we appreciate it as always. when we come right back, dennis miller on louis farrakhan attacking mcdonald's and the vote on michigan and arizona last night. miller is next.

5:38 am
thoughts on last night, miller? >> before we get to that billy. can you get me some of the hard data from that san francisco science experiment in? that was pretty involved stuff up there, huh? >> bill: candy, cutting people off, huh? >> put some tootsy rolls out and the rich guys -- i would rather be stuck behind a rolls royce silver cloud who is than one of these jerks in a prius who is driving like he is utaunt in 1960 trying to quell the cuban missile crisis for god's sake. >> bill: you know living in california in the upper echelons in the nice neighborhoods there is a sense of entitlement by some wealthy americans. you know that. >> yeah. there is a sense of entitlement by some people who don't even do anything nowadays. there is a sense of entitlement in this country. let's get to last night. i would say that romney comes out of that battle tough because this guy has been seeing more dust-ups than the
5:39 am
richard burton liz taylor marriage for god's sake. is he a frak cuss every day. he comes out of it pretty good. now he has got to work on. i hope he works on his tin ear. i think he probably owns the tin works. have you got to back off that stuff about the wife having two-two cadillacs. >> bill: i told him that at the top of the show. he jokes around with the upon pan choos and way to spend a lot of money on the rain coat. he just doesn't know. i don't know why. sometimes you and i say offensive things, miller, i know that comes as a shock to you, but. >> not me, baby. >> bill: we know when we say them he doesn't know. so he has got to know. that's absolutely right. >> i think they have to tap him on the shoulder on the way out and say do you realize you just said you don't follow nascar but you own some team owners? i don't think he hears that until he is out the door. maybe that's what this whole primary process has been about
5:40 am
to get him to smooth off some of the smooth edges. >> bill: is he never going to be a regular guy. if you vote for him you are voting for mckinley. he wasn't a regular guy. teddy roosevelt was. mckinley wasn't. you have got to accept it. not going to be a regular guy. >> i think that santorum is a pretty good guy. he got to lay off knowing satan's nicknames. cannot go into the akas the father of lies. husband. lucky lucifer farrakhan. it's like crazy the stuff. lucky lucy like farrakhan is the next story. sorry, don't kill me. you shouldn't know satan's nicknames. that starts to weird people. >> bill: after you saw arizona and michigan do what they did. do you think it's romney now are you pretty confident that's what's going to happen. >> we talked about it over the weekend. i think people want to win and they are starting to see now that romney is the win. i think it's time for, you know, ron paul and newt gingrich to drop out now and
5:41 am
go back on the road doing their two-man show about the birth of nuclear weaponry, the fat man and little boy. time for that to happen now. >> bill: okay. now, louis farrakhan and miller very -- >> one lucky lewis an -- don't kill me. >> bill: louie farrakhan is after mcdonald's. go. >> have you been to mcdonald's lately? i'm not laughing, damn it, i'm not laughing! and damn it, don't you laugh! because they are killing you with your taste buds. you don't understand! satan but you will hate me for exposing them today. there is a slime in the burger. it's got silicone. they have practiced how to deceive your taste buds and your nose. >> bill: so i would like the
5:42 am
satan special, please, large fry, big mac. >> you know what i think is worse than that, billy, guess who owns burger king stock? >> bill: farrakhan? that's right. is it just mcdonald's where satan is hanging out behind the counter or other fast food joints? >> yeah. reverend, one man's slime is another man's refuge. please, allow me to have my burger. >> bill: i hate to have to explain farrakhan because i have enough trouble explaining you. i think is he talking about the fast food, high fat, obesity and all of that i think that's what he is talking about. >> well, it all comes back to the white man trying to kill the black man and sometimes a burger is just a burger. you know what i mean? it's -- the rev calls everybody -- it's always the pot calling the kettle white with the reverend. >> bill: it is always that okay. monday night i tune in to see miller on hawaii 5-0. but unfortunately i tuned in three minutes after 10:00 eastern time and miller was already dead. roll the tape.
5:43 am
>> yeah. >> the kids in that occupy movement driving me absolutely crazy when i go by. what i'm saying is, it's over. it's time to zamboni off the loser and get these kids out of there. i'm sorry to blow your minds, little silver surfer but, guess what? it's a time in history where your mind deserves to be blown. [explosion] >> bill: who killed you, miller? >> that was written by a young staff writer named louis farrakhan. [ laughter ] >> bill: so miller is dead and then james khan that's on scott khan the other guy, they solved the crime, right? it's too late for you. did you go to heaven or hell in that program by the way? >> billy, i didn't even watch the whole episode. i was just trying to keep my dental current. >> bill: you didn't actually see it? you didn't see the whole thing.
5:44 am
>> no. i saw myself -- i to the blown up? what am i going to watch the rest of it for? >> bill: did you want to know was justice done by the bad guy who did that to you? >> yeah. i'm happening on that. i love acting. i saw jimmy khan in the parking lot. i said jimmy, are you on this show? he said this was for my kid. not for my career. [ laughter ] >> bill: khan is a good guy. dennis miller, everybody. louie farrakhan's favorite commentator. bolder fresher tour starring miller and me. june 22nd. and we also added another show in chicago. first one sold out. check all that out on bill o'reilly.com. link you over to box offices. i will see you solo in tampa, florida sunday march 11th to discuss the presidential election down there. ann coulter sob deck. she has some things to say about the republic party is it imploding as john mccain believes? coulter after these messages.
5:48 am
>> bill: back of the book segment tonight, as we reported the top of the program, senator john mccain believes the republic party is getting badly damaged by the primary race because the candidates are attacking one another. joining us from los angeles to weigh in on that conservative columnist ann coulter so you concur with senator mccain. >> these words will rarely pass my lips but, yes, i do. i mean, i think this has gone far enough. and it's just depleting resources, mitt romney is going to need to run against obama in the fall. and energy and money. and moreover, at what point -- at what point do the other candidates have to drop out? everyone was saying with artificially inflated expectations well, if mitt doesn't win michigan that's it for him. well, okay, he did win michigan. why don't santorum and newt gingrich have to drop out now?
5:49 am
the artificially inflated expectations for michigan which have been going on and on. oh well this is mitt romney's state and this is where is he from. he hasn't lived there for 40 years. nobody said ronald reagan had to win illinois because that was the state he was from. >> bill: mitt romney won michigan by much larger margin. doesn't that show that michigan voters are down on him? >> i don't think so. it shows that the democrats are terrified of him. we had nearly 10% of the voters in yesterday's primary -- >> bill: would have been a 7 point margin if the democrats hadn't gone over and voted for santorum. >> yep, yep. >> bill: what about miller's contention that the governor has a tin ear that he continues to say things like, you know, i don't really follow nascar but i know the guys who run it and my wife has two cadillacs and nice poncho, you really spent a lot of money on that.
5:50 am
what about that kind of stuff? do you read anything more into it than it's a casual comment trying to be funny or whatever. >> people are really grasping at straws with romney. for pete's sake you have newt gingrich calling paul ryan's plan right ring social engineering and then a few days later on fox news saying anyone who quotes what i said on sunday is repeating a falsehood. you have santorum who seems to be all up in his contraception and denying quotes from his own book. and the most they have on mitt romney always seem to be really twisting what it is he said. for example, the big deal that was made over his income and he said i only have income from speeches now. he sort of laughed and self-deposit pro-indicatingly said not very much. that was a self-dip prix indicatingly remark how much his speeches were worth. then they go and look up how much he made from the speeches oh, $300,000. >> bill: i agree with you. i said to the governor anything he says can and will be held against him.
5:51 am
i mirandized him on the program. i think that governor romney though has to understand that if he does get the nomination, it's going to be a class warfare right down. that's what it's going to be. he is the rich guy. he doesn't understand. he doesn't be there. he hasn't done his fair share. so that romney himself has got to be ultra, ultra careful of that label and at least come up with a narrative that says, yeah, i am a rich guy but i made my money legitimately and honestly. i'm not a greed head or whatever he wants to say. >> yes. and i am reminded of back when i was in high school when ronald reagan was running, i remember even thinking as a kid if the worse they have on this guy is the accusation that he dies his hair, i think we are doing fine. the worse they have with mitt romney are these statements that get twisted and taken out of context oh he is rich. he has been very good in saying yeah, i have made a lot of money. he worked for it. he gave away everything he inherited by the way. he made all this himself.
5:52 am
i intend to write about this in an upcoming column. it's not rich versus poor. it's those who take from the taxpayers versus the taxpayers paying their salaries, ie public sector unions. they are the ones we should be resentful toward. not someone who earns his money out on the private sector. >> bill: i think in order to win romney has to say and i write this in my column this is going to be out tomorrow. posted tomorrow. he has got to say this is what i can do that barack obama cannot do. and it's interesting this race in 2012 and i think you will agree with me is almost exactly like 1980. carter and reagan. it's so similar. and i got to see the reagan ranch when i was in santa barbara over the weekend. it's amazing how modest that house is up on that reagan ranch. and reagan. >> yes, i have been there. >> bill: he had a simple message and he basically said look, this is what i can do that he he can't do carter. that's what he has got to do. >> if he keeps it simple. >> i think he can do because

of all of his time in the private sector. and the reason that another false accusation against romney. business conspiring with ron paul to make -- of course ron paul supports mitt romney. he was also soft on herman cain. he admires people in the private sector as opposed to the guys spent time in washington and sees everything as a big government crying out for a big government solution. mitt romney is definitely the one we need now. >> ann coulter, everybody. one of the monkees has died. we will give you all the details in just over two minutes.
