the network, andrew breitbart believed that he died of a heart attack. l.a. coroner's office not giving an official cause of death yet until after today's scheduled autopsy. he died early thursday morning while walking outside of his california home. friends remembering him. >> i remember the first time i met him, i spotted him across the room. to me he was the huge rock star. he really revolutionized the conservative moment and i spotted him across the room the same time he saw me and i walked over with my hair extended to give him a proper hello and handshake and he literally scooped me up in a giant bear hug, lifted me off the floor. >> the free market and freedom was the way to go. and that really rankled him and he loved turning the table back on his enemies, sometimes with too much gusto, maybe not but he loved the fight. >> andrew breitbart leaves behind a wife and four young

children. he was only 43 years old. >> we're going to be hearing about larry o'connor a little later today, one of the people who worked for breitbart.com and bretbarttv and he's saying the work must go on. when he left, the 20 people that he left behind will still run it. >> right. they've been apparently working before this to relaunch all the web sites. that's going to happen this weekend plus they have some film projects and you'll hear a lot about some of the stuff they're work on in 10 days. >> in the meantime, president obama is back on the stump talking about his energy policies. and in the meantime, he is slamming big oil now for making a profit. so the question this morning that we have for you is do you think that there's anything wrong with big oil companies making a profit? let's listen to the president. >> i'm asking congress eliminate this oil industry give away right away. you can stand with oil companies or you can stand up for the american people.
6:05 am
right now, $4 billion of your tax dollars, $4 billion, subsidizes the oil industry every year. these companies are making record profits right now. tens of billions of dollars a year. every time you go to the gas tank or fill up your gas tank, they're making money. does anyone really think that congress should give them another $4 billion this year? >> so here's what the president is trying to do, he's trying to shape the dialogue on who is to blame for the spike in gas prices. remember, the republicans have said the president is to blame because he hasn't done enough exploration and expanded drilling and things like this. look at this brand new "washington post" pugh poll that asked americans who is to blame. today, barack obama 12 vs. george bush in 2005. who blames the president today? only 18% of people do. however, back in 2005, close to
6:06 am
30% thanks to the mainstream media blames george bush. who blames big oil? today, only 14% blame big oil whereas in 2005, it was 36%. obviously, they were the evil people behind the spike. and who doesn't know? well, a quarter of the country doesn't know. only 10% right now which goes to show the white house now is trying to shape the dialogue. trying to say it's big oil. don't blame us. blame them because there's a lot of political peril there. >> not necessarily. if you go back to that poll right there, what the numbers show is not supporting what the president is saying. the president in that little snippet that we showed you said it was a big oil problem and it was their fault but if you look at that poll, less people blame big oil now than they did back in 2005. >> he's looking to point fingers and he's doing it -- he said there's no silver bullet. we all got to do an everything on board approach. now he's saying it's the oil company's problem but is it a problem when the oil companies actually pay taxes?
6:07 am
let's look at what oil companies and gas companies pay. $ $100 billion in rent when they start to drill. $80 million each day in income taxes and production fees. let me also add that the stay competitive globally and to be able to hire people in this country, they actually -- that's what these tax breaks are really for, to level the playing field because of what other economies already do for their oil companies. >> in the meantime, this is sort of a trickle down effect because while that argument is going on, guess what else is happening, coal plants are shutting down now. five of them in pennsylvania. coal fired power plants. they're going to have to shut down over the next four years. they'll lay off approximately 315 people completely lose their jobs. because remember, the president has said this in the past in 2008. if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can. it's just that it will bankrupt
6:08 am
them because they'll be charged a huge sum for all that green house gas that's being emitted. so is this a trickle down effect now of the energy policy we've seen for the last three years. >> five coal power plants will close down in pennsylvania and one as well in ohio because they have to choose between costly upgrades and look at what the president said back then. here's mitt romney talking recently about how the president of the united states simply does not understand how energy works in this country. >> when someone says do you want to bring in a pipeline that's going to create tens of thousands of jobs to bring oil in from canada, how in the world could you say no? but he did. this is a president who does not understand energy. he is the problem. he is not the solution. it's time to get him out of office and get somebody in if he's secure. >> mitt romney is going to win. rick santorum is going to be successful and newt gingrich is going to get the nomination.
6:09 am
it will be statements like that rather than this guy is bad and we're better. this is the deal on energy and this is what he can do. with mitt romney later in that speech, we go into very specifics that there's certain production in this area and this country is up because of private industry. the discoveries of shale in north dakota, etc., and pointed out, too, what the president is not doing in terms of drilling. let's take a look at mitt romney. what the after effects are of this two state win on tuesday. he's got to be pleased by. this the national poll according to rasmussen has mitt romney rocketing on top 40-24 to newt gingrich's 16, ron paul just 12. so mitt romney feels good about that, almost as good as he does with the gallup poll. gallup poll has him up by about nine. 35-24. gingrich is 15 and ron paul is 11. >> there's a big controversy brewing coming out of the michigan thing at least according to rick santorum. he's very upset with how these delegates have eventually been awarded. remember yesterday we told you that he was hoping that they would go 15 delegates to
6:10 am
santorum. 15 delegates to mitt romney. but here's what's happening now, mitt romney is getting 16 and santorum is going to get 14 and the santorum camp is saying that the two at-large delegates were supposed to be awarpeded proportionally and not winner take all. that the rules were changed at the last minute and that they're saying that it was romney's supporters behind closed doors who allowed that to happen giving romney the 16 and santorum only the 14. >> in truth, those rules were put out february 7th and everybody knew about those rules. >> exactly. and they went to the -- whoever won them popular vote. meanwhile, mitt romney also got some good news in wyoming. he won the wyoming caucuses with 39%. rick santorum had 32%. meanwhile, mitt romney says if he is elected president of the united states, he will not embarrass the people of the united states. >> we're a people that are patriotic, that are willing to serve one another, that were called upon to make a sacrifice for america. we'll do it. what we need in leadership is
6:11 am
individuals who will tell the truth and who will live with integrity. i will not embarrass you in the white house. >> yeah, i think that goes without saying. if you look at his track record. >> and santorum had this, though, to say about mitt romney in michigan. >> good, old boy supporting the moderate candidate, the one they feel comfortable with, the one that won't shake up the boat in washington, d.c. that -- we have to nominate those kinds of republicans. because we nominate those kinds of republicans, then independents and moderates will vote for them, as far as getting back to the roots of what made america great, well, you know, so many even in our party aren't quite sure that america is up to that anymore. >> and rick santorum can get back the momentum if he goes back to where he gave that speech in washington because saturday is their caucus. 36 delegates up for grabs. >> he also got some very good news and is going to announce it later today that in the last

medical care for unexpected signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. pradaxa may increase your bleeding risk if you're 75 or older, have a bleeding condition like stomach ulcers, or take aspirin, nsaids, or bloodthinners, or if you have kidney problems, especially if you take certain medicines. tell your doctor about all medicines you take, any planned medical or dental procedures, and don't stop taking pradaxa without your doctor's approval, as stopping may increase your stroke ri. other side effects include indigestio stomach pain, upset, or burning. pradaxa is progress. if you have afib not caused by a heart valve problem, ask your doctor if you can reduce your risk of stroke with pradaxa. >> welcome back. will the 2012 elections prove that mainstream america has finally had enough? since president obama's election in 2008, our next guests say a storm has been brewing. >> i don't believe this is just about health care.

6:47 am
how are they doing it? >> absolutely. the left have had a number of tactics for years that we talk about in the book. one of the tactics they use is they don't debate, they attack. if you look at any major issue in the united states, what you see is the left is almost always on the attack and the mainstream is almost always on the defensive. >> uh-huh. >> perfectly good example right now is this whole flap going on with the catholic church. that whole issue arose out of the issue of do you believe in a right to privacy in the constitution? a question in a debate a few weeks back and all of a sudden, the left has turned that into a question of whether the mainstream wants to outlaw contraception and it's an absurd question. >> absolutely and the mainstream media has framed it just like that. it's a war on women. it's not. it's a war on religion. what you say is that one of the problems with conservatives is the fact that they're not demanding. you know they're more kind of live and let live. see what's happening. and they have got to learn from the liberals and make some
6:48 am
noise? >> yeah, one of the points that we make in the book, i think, pretty strongly is that there are pretty significant differences between the far left and what we're calling mainstream america in terms of their character type. character type of the mainstream is much more live and let live conflict avoidance, personal responsibilities expressed through taking care of their personal lives, their families, their businesses, the far left is much more combative, argumentative, confrontational and in your face than mainstream is. >> the system we talked about a moment ago is the right needs a strategy and it involves the three r's. and they are recognize, reframe and refocus. briefly, what does that mean? >> recognize the path that the left wants to take you down. they always want to put us on the defensive. then reframe the argument to put the left on the defensive. that's the main thing that we've got to do. we outnumber the left. we need to be able to put them on the defensive.
6:49 am
and then refocus the argument so that we're talking about the issues that are important to us. so with the whole situation with the catholic church, an example of that would be, you know, if you want to talk about privacy, let's talk about the right to choose your own health care in private. for heavens sake, let's talk about the right to pack your own kids' lunch box without a governor worker sticking their nose in your lunch box if you want to talk about privacy. that puts the left on the defensive. from there, we can begin to talk about the real issue which is this country is going off a debted cliff. if we don't get that turned around, then nothing else is going to matter. >> you guys know your stuff. you should write a book. you just did. it's called "waking the sleeping giant." timothy daughtry and larry casselman, good luck on the book. >> thank you so much. >> all right. 11 minutes before the top of the hour. remember the $750,000 soccer field built for terror suspects at gitmo? after days of reporting this story, the commanders finally answer the question, why? believe us, you don't want to miss their answer.

to be burdened with having to pay for our abuses right now. >> gretchen: you speak of yourself as a rock star. maybe they're on to something because take a look at how your husband is doing in the recent national polls. he's up 40% over rick santorum at 24%. ron paul, 12. but i wonder why you would fair in a poll because many people have suggested that you are mitt romney's secret weapon. >> well, that's a compliment. i am not just doing everything i can. i believe in my husband. i've known him. we've been married 42 years. we have five sons, 16 grandkids. i've seen him in every situation and you know, people turn to him when they're in crisis mode, whether it's business. he turns around businesses. whether it was the olympics where he turned that around, whether it was a governor where he went in with ballooning again, budget problems and turned that around. so i've seen him do it time and time again. he is the steady hand. he's the guy that's consistent.
8:17 am
he's the guy that knows how to get the job done. so my argument always is, look, you want definitely to be able to beat barak obama. but then most importantly, once you get in that chair, you want to be able to actually fix things and be able to do it. and that was my big question this time around because i told mitt four years ago i would never do this again. >> gretchen: i remember that because i met with the two of new california and you were not that keen on it. what was his message back to you? >> well, he laughed because ann, he said, you say that after every pregnancy and as we all know, i do have five children. but this time i was the one, when it came time to make that decision, i was the one that was pushing and said look, this country is worth it. we have to go fight. america is in peril. we're headed in the wrong direction. and it is. it's a fight for the soul of america. >> gretchen: sometimes it's not always easy when you're on this presidential path. it can be so grueling and we all know that you struggle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer survivor.

8:34 am
paul are the only ones on the ballot. gingrich and santorum didn't make it. the big battle for romney is ohio. another one of those key midwestern swing states and as of this morning, santorum continues to lead in the polls there, 35% to 31. so again, as in michigan, romney is playing from behind and it wouldn't be quite as disaster ous as losing michigan, but if he were to lose ohio, which everybody agrees is a key swing state for november, it would be a big deal. we'll have an exclusive interview with rick santorum on sunday. >> gretchen: we'll look forward to that. you would think that he would have gained a little more ground in ohio, if you look at the national polls right now. the latest national poll, he got a big boost out of arizona and michigan. romney up 40% over rick santorum 24%. then another poll where it's closer. romney, 35%. santorum, 24%. you allude to the fact that there is a new poll out this morning in ohio where santorum is still on top by four points. what do you make of that?
8:35 am
>> well, i think that it seems to me that none of these guys have very strong support, that the republican voters are still trying to make up their mind and to a certain degree, because it was only a week or so ago that santorum had a ten or 12-point lead a double digit lead in the national poll. i think it's always rallying around the leader. in the specific states where they're campaigning a lot, where there is a lot of tv ads like michigan last week, like ohio this week, i think that there is probably more solid support for people. nationally, i think it's more debts let this over with. let's stop fighting with each other. let's start going after obama. so whoever is in the lead, they all rally around that person. as a result, it swings wildly back and forth each tuesday. >> brian: chris, who else do you have on coming up on fox news sunday? >> well, big story on foreign policy on monday. prime minister netanyahu is going to be meeting with barak obama. obviously some difference of opinion there. the u.s. very much wants israel
