see you next time. >> greta: tonight, donald trump he is here and he is smoking mad at barack obama. donald trump will tell you and obama administration announces changes to contraception rule. is everyone now happy? this controversy is getting hotter. and.... >> thanks for having me. >> greta: oscar winning movie star hauled off to jail. was it something he said the white house dinner two nights ago? we'll tell you what it really was. right now, donald trump. >> nice to talk to you. and interesting exchange between your twitter account and president himself. you refer to the president as
10:01 pm
iknoramous and you talked about leaders being dumb and president is getting right into it. he is insulting people, if you disagree with his energy policy you are part of the flat earth society and opponents only help the rich. you have to sort this out for me how do we get above this? >> his energy policy is a complete and total disaster. it's going to lead to higher prices all over the place. i can't even understand how he gets away with saying it with a straight face. his energy policy, there is no energy policy. frankly, we're going to be in worse trouble in two years, three years, four years if this continues. as far as this campaign is concerned, all he does is campaign, that is all he does. he goes on a boeing 747 called air force one, most expensive plane. he travels all over by boeing in order to raise money for his campaign. at some point, somebody should say, how do you do this?
10:02 pm
how do you allow a president to use air force one as campaign vehicle. he has millions of dollars of buses he can travel nicely to different destinations. the whole thing is a sham. >> greta: $5.5 million is what he was raising today. when they go to the gas pump but he utah's did have to raise money for the campaign. would you agree to that? >> he can raise money for his campaign but pay for the transportation. $5 million is a lot of money but nothing compared to the cost of a 747 flying over the country. i guarantee you that is much more money than the money he is raising. it's actually costing the taxpayers more money than the amount he is raising for himself. don't you think he should reimburse the taxpayer? >> greta: and campaign does have to pay for that portion which is for campaigning. i think that does have to happen. some people are focused on the
10:03 pm
fact the amount of time he is spending campaigning right now. >> he is not reimbursing the real cost. he is reimburse ago fraction of the real cost. if he was reimbursing the real cost he won't be campaigning with a 747, believe me. he is not reimbursing the real cost of travel. with all of the security, with that tremendous plane. he is just reimbursing a certain percentage and it has nothing to do with the actual amount of that certain percentage. >> greta: let me ask you about something vice president biden said. this is what he said yesterday. he said, mitt romney, rick santorum and newt gingrich, these guys have a fundamentally different economic philosophy than we do. our floss at this fi values the workers in success of business and success of company. simply stated we're about
10:04 pm
promoting the private sector, they are about protecting the privileged sector. there are no rules and no accountability. what do you say to him about that? >> it's absolutely ridiculous. frankly as far as mitt romney is concerned. he the is the most -- you get into the words free enterprise, there is nobody better than mitt romney. he understands big better than any of them. certainly better than the president and vice president. i think he will end up get the nomination. he shut should get it sooner. >> greta: with the republicans facing, democrats of saying they only care about the rich. >> i think it's ridiculous. look, they don't want tax increases, the republicans. that is good for everybody. they don't want tax increases and they are right. because the economy is so weak right now, it's so fragile, that
10:05 pm
if you start giving tax increases on top of this weak economy, you are going to have a major problem, maybe a problem like we had three years ago. so if you look at the republicans and in particular, mitt romney, he doesn't want to see taxes raised. that a good thing, not a bad thing. that has nothing to do with the rich. it has to do with everybody. >> greta: gas prices are soaring and they affect everybody. it's going to be a drag on our economy if the prices continue to go up. are you critical of the president in terms of what he is doing or not doing about gas prices. is there something he could do now? >> i think he did a disastrous statement recently when he essentially said the president of united states has absolutely no power over gas prices. he is totally wrong. if he had whatever it is that ability that you are supposed to have as a leader he would get opec to stop rimming off our country. he would get opec to behave.
10:06 pm
would you see a change in places like you wouldn't believe. number two, he would let people drill. he would let people take out the natural gas and the gas and the oil right under our feet in this country. he would have approved the pipeline which we don't need if we allow number two. and let us drill in our country, but to not allow the pipeline from canada not only in terms of bringing the oil, but maybe almost as importantly the jobs. i don't understand politically it would have been great for him. he doesn't allow the pipeline, that is real negative for him. to think that the president actually made the statement last week that the president of the united states doesn't control oil and there is nothing you can do about it, if that is case, we need somebody else. the president, right president could have a huge impact on oil. if they don't get the price of oil and knrn down, we're going to have another depression in
10:07 pm
this country like we had three years ago. >> you are critical of this green energy program. look, solyndra has been unmitigated disaster costing taxpayers over $500 million. that was bad investment to begin with. everything about green energy that you don't like or is there some parts that are worthy to pursue. >> right now, green energy is way behind the times. you look at the windmills that are destroying shore lines, it's very poor form of energy. solar hasn't caught on. a solar panel takes 32-year payback. the technology is not there yet. wind farms are hurting. there are a lot of problems with the green energy. i told you the story where a friend of mine moved into a green office building and he freezes in the winter and he is hot in the summer and he is
10:08 pm
losing his vision because there is not enough light. give me a break. green energy is wonderful, it sounds great but you need oil and you need natural gas. we have so much natural gas in this country and we're not allowed to get it. we need somebody that knows what he is doing and we need it fast. our energy policy is a total and complete disaster. >> greta: now let's move back to the recent tweet what you said about the president that he is an economic ignoramus. i looked it up. >> if you look what is happening with china. they are eating our lunch and laughing at us like we're stupid people. i have many friends in china. i do a lot of business with china. they can't believe what they are getting away with. china is ripping off this country, manipulating the currency. >> greta: is that any different policy, with bush 43 or the in
10:09 pm
terms of clinton? >> as far as bush is concerned, we don't have to get into that. the fact is that china is we are rebuilding china, they are taking so much money. this year they are going to make $350 billion but worse they are taking our jobs, they are manufacturing our products. what they are doing is incredible and they are doing it through brilliant manipulation of their currency. it's a very simple thing. somebody with base you can understanding of business and knowledge would be able to put an end to it so easily. they are worried that china has our debt. trillion dollars of our debt, that is such a small amount to the overall economy. we have power over them. if we stop doing business with china, china would go into a depression the likes you've never seen. so we have all the cards. they don't have the cards. we have a president that doesn't know how to use the cards i
10:10 pm
don't think he understands it. >> greta: you've also tweeted that rick santorum is not a team player. are you suggesting he should get out of the race? >> he can't win under any circumstances. he can't get the votes and delegates. mitt romney has the best chance by far of beating obama. i think what is going to happen and if gasoline goes up, when it hits 5 or $6 a gallon, republicans in the form i believe of mitt romney is going to win the election. i don't think it's going to be that close. santorum is a man in pennsylvania lost by the largest amount running for senate largest amount in the history of the modern day senate. i don't think she should be and no knowledge of the economy. he has no knowledge of economics. he has no knowledge of business. >> greta: what about speaker
10:11 pm
gingrich. >> excuse me. more importantly he won't get the women's vote. the women will vote against him. gingrich is a friend of mine but it will be hard to win. he is a member of my club in washington. how can i dislike him? the fact is it's a tough road for newt. it's going to be a tough road, but i will never speak negatively because he a friend of mine. >> greta: nice to talk to you. >> birth control fight, obama administration making it's next move in the battle and seeing new changes in the contraception rule. but will these new changes work or will they serve more trouble. malika henderson joins us. and are they changes or explaining? >> it's explaining. the fact they released this on friday we get those, it's like a
10:12 pm
document dump and they are hoping, i'll pay attention. they aren't sure about this. this isn't really planned. it looks like they released new guidelines that look at students being covered for contraception. religious institutions having a way to wiggle around the rules. >> greta: is this going to end the dispute? >> no. it is not going to end the disputes. catholic bishops are still not happy with the stance on this. i think it's clear republicans want to make an issue about religious freedom and government and this is giving them a perfect argument health care and encroaching freedom. this is a fright that isn't going away. this is an issue, you've got a situation in arizona where a
10:13 pm
legislator there put forward a bill that would make it okay to deny women contraception. at least republicans still think its winning issue for them. >> greta: tell me if i have had right. under the rules the bishops objected to, the catholic institutions would have to pay for the insurance for contraception? >> right. >> greta: under accommodation, president said, they insurance companies would pay for it instead? >> exactly. >> greta: have you found any insurance company that has been so magnanimous, we'll pay for anything. we won't pass the costs on? >> the argument here by paying for this contraception they will not have to pay for unwanted pregnancies and pay for the cost associated with women getting pregnant. >> greta: it's like the pinto,
10:14 pm
they would pay all the dead bodies instead of paying the $8 part to make it safer? >> it's not a perfect argument but that is the argument that the white house is making, we'll have to see. >> greta: do they believe the insurance company will sit there and make an analysis, it's cheaper to avoid the unwanted pregnancies than to have the pregnancies? and white house truly believes that the insurance company wouldn't want to gouge everybody else, even the tax paying catholics who won't like it. white house really believes this? >> this is the argument they are making so far. again, i think this is something that is going to drag on. it's going to be in political discussion. i think it gives republicans a real shot in making this argument about health care and about the heavy arm of health care and heavy arm of government raising people's premiums. raising the people's insurance
10:15 pm
premiums. >> is there reconciliation between the sides, birth control pills can be used for contraception but other legitimate conditions. would everyone would be happy if the insurance paid for the legitimate medical use of hormone therapy and then the other is paid for by the individual? is that something that would make both sides happy? >> that could, maybe you should send a memo. [ laughter ] >> it doesn't look like they have reached a compromise. >> greta: what has intrigued me a lot of insurance companies, they object about the payment for men like viagra. >> i don't know about viagra.
10:16 pm
