>> good smoking now prevent some people from getting hired? that might just be the case in one city. fox business network's diane meceda is here to explain. please do. >> will do. some city workers in ft. worth, texas are heeded after an official proposed that the city stop hiring smokers. city manager presented the idea yesterday as a way for the city to increase productivity, promote wellness and cut costs and mayor betsy price says the city's legal and human resources departments are reviewing it. the american heart association says for every dollar companies spend on wellness programs like smoker bans, they can save $3.50 in health care costs or $16 in overall worker productivity if you account for sick time, death benefits and generally having more active employees. some studies show it can cost more than $1,000 extra dollars a year to hire a smoker than
