the cozy relationship between hollywood and the usama bin laden and there are many, many other things that have been leaked over the past couple of years that make folks comfortable. none of this comes from his administration and he wants to get to the bottom of t as well. let's listen. >> the notion that my white house would purposely release classified national security information is offensive. it's wrong and -- you know, people, i think, need to have a better sense of how i approach this office and how the people around me here approach this office. >> does that come back to haunt him? charles krauthammer last night on "special report" thinks it will. >> i think he will regret having made this statement the

same way he will regret the idea about the private sector doing okay. if it is offensive, the idea that it would have been leaked when we know that in the report itself it quoted white house officials, then let him prove it by having a special counsel appointed. the key here is dianne feinstein, if she demands it, it will be done. >> so the other statement that charles alluded to was earlier in the day when president obama said in remarks that he hoped would move the conversation forward on how to fix the economy, did anything but. when he said essentially the private sector is doing fine. >> the truth of the matter is that as i said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months. over 800,000 just this year alone. the private sector is doing fine. where we are seeing weakness is in our economy had to do with state and local

government. >> see, government romney want to seize on that opportunity? >> i would bet that he did. in fact, a few hours later he did just that he was speaking at a campaign stop and he just said that he was flabbergasted by that comment. >> is he really that out of touch? >> yes. >> i think he is defining what it means to be detached and out of touch with the american people. has there ever been an american president who is so far from reality as to believe in an american where 23 million americans are out of work or stopped looking for work can only find part-time jobs and need full-time jobs for the president of the jaghts to stand up and say the private sector is doing fine? is going to go down in history. it's an extraordinary miscalculation and misunderstanding by a president who is out of touch. >> that was a present for mitt romney who has largely been labeled out of touch rich guy with six houses.

delivering a president right to him. he has been criticized for making comments to fire people which may be out of context. did the president slip up and forget the word not in there or did he literally think that the private sector was okay? >> does he just not grasp what the private sector is? because clearly no one makes that statement if they have a concept of what the private sector is. >> at a white house press conference perhaps. did he he forget the word not or mentally shift those things around somehow. he had to walk that back later in the day and completely retailer that whole thing. take a listen. >> listen, it is absolutely clear that the economy is not doing fine, that's the reason i had the press conference. that's why i spent yesterday, the day before yesterday, this past week, this past month and this past year talking about how we can make the economy stronger. the economy is not doing fine. there are too many people out

nice to see you this morning. >> good morning. >> what did you think of this new definition? what the definition first of all. >> widen the definition so they can from v. more jobs. right now it's less than 3% of the job market. since we can't increase the numbers to justify how much money we have invested in the green market, we will just widen the definition so we can put more people in there that's not very good. >> this is descriptions putting in green cover the butt kind of thing. you are really missing the whole will purpose.

what's happening and when you take a look in the free market space there is too much emphasis going into one segment and it's hurting the bigger part of that 3% of the jobs are coming out of green. what about the other big majority. and we're losing too many jobs here to try to help 3%. mathematically it doesn't make sense it consciously doesn't make any sense. am i pro green? but not when i hire one green person and lay off five regular people. >> or where the definition really doesn't match up to what you think it does. here is darrell issa asking about this in front of congress. take a listen. >> i asked you a question. you know the answer. would you please answer it? if you sweep the floor in a solar panel facility, is that a green job? >> yes. >> thank you. if you drive a hybrid bus public transportation is that a green job. >> according to our definition, yes. >> thank you. how about employees at a bicycle shop? >> i guess i'm not sure about that. >> the answer is yes according

to your definition and you have got a lot of them. >> so, employees at a bicycle shop considered green jobs. >> and somebody who drives a bus is a green job. you could be driving a toxic bus but if you -- i mean, you get vague and ambiguous. first of all you are not doing the whole purpose of going green. taking the social consciousness part of it out of it and this second of all. >> you are cheapening it. that's my gut reaction. >> not cost effectively using our money wisely. hired one person and let five go. pigeon hole all the rules and regulations that the green. that's stifling the work place right now is all these rules and regulations and green brought more rules and regulations than any of the other demographics. >> let me flip the other side and take the other position on this maybe this is great for small business. opportunity to get some money to get my business started to kick off something. can i get a little bit of money. a little bit of a grant from the government and actually get things going.

iotte. >> mitt romney's campaign short list. even said she is on my short list. >> she is intriguing. >> meanwhile, chris christie, of course, who lots of people named as well. he was at the chicago cpac conference and he sees also on the president's slip-up saying that the private sector is doing just fine. here was chris christie's take. >> it is an outrage to have the president of the united states stands up and say to hard-working governors, republics and democrats around this country, that state and local government hiring is moving in the wrong direction and we're to blame because the economy is not growing. he is the one who put forward an ineffective wasteful stimulus plan that did nothing to help this economy. he is the one who saddled us with all these federal rules and regulations that don't allow governors to have the freedom to do what we really want. and then he has the audacity

what's happening in the news. we now know police found a yellow matchbox car, a pair of boys underwear and boys blue shorts hidden in the new jersey home of pedro hernandez. he, of course, is the man who claims that he strangled 6-year-old patz in the basement of a new york city bodega in 197. the toy and clothing do appear to be from that era. they note that patz was wearing pants, not shorts on the day he disappeared. right now the only evidence against hernandez is his own confession and prosecutors fear that might not be enough considering his history of mental illness. well, talk about bad luck orlando man getting getting stuck with george zimmerman's old cell phone number. zimmerman, neighborhood watchman charged in the shooting death of trayvon martin. his phone number was featured in news reports 911 calls were

released. the man says it was his first time buying a cell phone and now he wishes he hadn't. good news he was able to return it to a t mobile store to for credit. they are now retiring that number. controversy in california where private schools accused of using students to panhandle for money. students reportedly from st. andrew missionary baptist church private school. residents say they take to the streets five days a week soliciting donations well into the evening hours. the school also accused about lying about enrollment numbers to get federal subsidies. the pastor who runs the school has his own history of fraud. he is not commenting at this time. high school seniors in new york feeling a sense of accomplishment for graduating. they were taken down a peg during a commencement speech by an english teacher. >> you are not special. like honor, he wanted to be part of something greater than himself. some pretty a amazing reasons. but i think kids' reasons for choosing this vary. >> and we had hoped to talk to your son but we should mention that he is in basic training right now full figure that goal of his. so you hooked up with this man ken hartman, again, with the organization our community solutes, and now what are you hoping to bring to schools? >> well, our community solutes mission so to speak is to recognize the high school seniors who are graduating and enlisting and their parents and goltd is to increase in the number of chapters and just get the spread across our country. this school that i was -- my son was graduating from is not the only one that does not recognize these kids. it's nationwide. >> it is a nationwide problem. in fact, you are making

night, that's when you release some bad information. >> that's when you do it. >> that attorney general eric holder releasing information that he has assigned two u.s. attorneys to now go after and figure out if the white house or someone in the white house hadline leaking information on a number of different areas, including al qaeda attacks, the underwear bomber attacks, that stuxnet virus that they had created to go against iran all of that stuff. >> dave: eric holder putting in the special investigation. john mccain and lindsey graham both senators say this is not going far enough in terms of an investigation. they need an outside independent investigation, not going far enough say those two senators. the question is, here are those three incidents that clayton mentioned now, when it comes to leaks that they're investigating. is there a greater pattern? here are the three that eric holder says they will specifically investigate where the leaks came from. the kill list, the first one is because we had a double agent british double agent was

outed. he was the one that helped the u.s. figure out this al qaeda and the arabian peninsula plot. stuxnet virus. cyber attack strategy they used in iran. the question is is there a greater pattern here or are these just a few incidents. >> the reason we can talk about awful these some were opt front page of the "new york times" and some reported by the associated press. where do they get their information there are moments in some of these reports where they're quoting things that happened in the oval office or at lois things that president obama said. howe would they know those things if they didn't come from a very highly placed insider in the white house. well, president obama says that he is very frustrated by these leaks and he says how he he is going to respond to them. >> the notion that my white house would purposely release classified national security

ever or they are covering up all of the documents from the top levels, the emails. let's find out who it is. and go back a year ago. i said when did you first learn? he says oh a few weeks ago. and then the next time he comes you mentioned the multiple times he has been there. he comes in and says well, you know, it turns out it was months before. he got outed because somebody else said oh no, i knew he knew about it months before that he said months, weeks, what's the difference? like, the guy has not been honest. i can help him with the leak thing. he can just go look on broadcast. you got joe biden outing seal team 6 in a public interview. biden outed the undisclosed location. you have got the "new york times" tells it you who was in the room. so he can save all the time in looking for hot leaks are. it's out there and public and can he work on this job. >> alisyn: do you think that biden is the source of these other leaks that we have been talking about?

>> my point is that they leak -- last time, quote, last time there was a leak like, this noah built himself an ark, everybody seems to be leaking at the top levels. ask the "new york times." it ought to be clear. that shouldn't be a problem. but fast and furious is where there should be no problem. he ought to know. and for him to cavalierly go back and say well, i asked the inspector general to look into it. people have been killed because of this program. and he doesn't go back and do anything but, well, you know, i asked the inspector general to look. he should have gone back and said who knew? and since there is information that they have that we know they have that says the people immediately under him knew about fast and furious. it's time to cut out the -- give us the information they have. some specifics you brought up in the testimony on thursday,

who authorized it? that's the big question here. you have told lou dobbs the other night on the show that eric holder has to go. you are still holding by that the attorney general has to go. and the big answer that you are still looking for, is who authorized this? and it's not been revealed in the thousands of documents you guys have received yet? >> exactly. and, yet, there is a whistleblower inside. and actually, we got more than one whistleblower inside. we know it goes to the highest level. it's time they came clean. but, it shouldn't take anything to figure out who authorized this it. so one of two things. either he is the most incompetent attorney general ever and doesn't really care and can't figure out exactly who ordered the release of guns to international criminals or he knew himself. either way he has got to go. >> dave: i hate to interrupt you but i want to ask you, are you satisfied with the way speaker john boehner has handled the contempt of

congress charges, allegations toward the attorney general or do you need something more? >> well, there ought to have been contempt already. i'm hoping that's where we are about to get. because it's been over a year and no justice department would put up with a witness that had information dragging his feet like this. they would have already had him under the jail. so, we should have gone a lot farther by now i was encourtroomed this week for the speaker to say we are going to demand accountability. it's about time. let's get it done. it shouldn't have taken this long. please understand some people say this is partisan. look, when george bush was president, i called over to chief of staff and said your attorney general has got to go. this is outrageous on the nsl abuses. so i would hope that we'll have democrats that are as bipartisan as i was when you see a problem, demand a

did it? >> absolutely. there is no doubt that this sparked a rally in the market. because it gave investors and also the party the confidence that come this november that romney will beat obama and it also gave politicians all across the state the guts to fight these public unions. i mean if you look at it like this now. you have the obama and the democrats out there. that wanted this recall election. not a regular election. recall. made a tremendous to gout othere and get 900 signatures verses the 940. they spent tremendous amount of money only to lose. voter turnout in wisconsin was the biggest in u.s. history. that actually ignited a rally in the market. >> this is one state. clearly not enough to impact fortune 500 companies. why would they react based on one state's results? they think a lot more is to come? >> they do. on top of the fact that, you know, you have a lot of pentagon -- pent up demand. have you cash corporations highest levels. they are not spending.

school. my husband freaked out. i say that it's -- in some ways i want think it's harmless but i don't want to make make a big deal out of this. i don't want to focus on their looks and everything. are we supposed to say they can't wear it or today they can? >> right, you know what? that age i would say it's not a good idea to wear it not just to set down the law this is the law. you are not wearing the makeup. it's rather discussing with your young daughter what it it is that they feel the makeup does for them. can they get that same feeling without the makeup? reinforcing to them their character, their personality, their goals, their dreams, their behaviors and give them lots of reinforcement for that positive reinforce. so that's what makes they will feel good and special rather than the makeup. >> that's important one. little girls do think how they look. >> but mommy. >> i know. >> you say you feel bad without the makeup on. >> i don't say that. >> and that's exactly why as a

same type of authority before that. and i think scott walker looked at that and he made a bet. he gambled and took on the unions and he won. his margin of victory this time around was bigger than last time. i think mitt romney is going to see that and be emboldened over the next six months. >> we're starting to see this in other states as well. not just wisconsin. a lot of other states embold boldened by what he has done. union roles plummeting as well. i'm not going to pay to be in this union to have all this money come out of my paycheck every week if the power that they now have is not that much. >> clearly, governor christie in new jersey, there is many states where they are starting to look at public unions because the benefits, the long-term entitlement benefits that some of these unions have negotiated in the past are simply unsustainable. governors are looking at that because that's their burden. it's not the federal government. it's the state burden. there is a shift in power. and i think as you look at the election, that's only going to advantage governor romney because that's one of his

issues which getting public spending under control. >> when you look at this historically, is this one issue that you think can sway an election? obviously we talked about margaret thatcher but here in the united states as it relates to ronald reagan. just one issue of many or is this the issue that could really turn the tide. >> well, when jobs and the economy are the primary focus, people take -- tend to take a slightly more critical look at unions particularly public unions they have looked at that as unsustainable benefit. right now clearly we know that jobs and the economy are the big issue. the president talked about it yesterday. that's the overwhelming issue. if that's the case, then that sort of subissue of public unions and state and local spending and benefits, that's going to be a big deal. and that issue only works, i think to governor romney's favor. scott walker's victory could be the canary in the coal mine. his victory was larger than even his previous victory two years ago. if that's a bellwether that's an important one that the campaigns are going to look at. >> and talking about bellwethers, this has always been a democratic issue. these are the folks that come

out to vote democratic in the election mostly. and now you see this fracturing within the democratic party having to rely on looks lake other groups that is to say maybe the youth. obviously the youth vote came out very strong in 2008. but also latino vote. the latino vote in this country very now important to the democrats. are you seeing a total shift? almost a sea change away from unions as that ballot box marker? >> yeah. the coalition, the traditional democratic coalition minority voters, unions, other and other constituencies. the union part of it is important. the presidents that to rally that base. maybe the scott walker will rally the unions. it's a smaller base. even though they might be fervent still for the president. it's a much smaller base to work off of. same with the youth vote are they going to come out in the same force? that will be interesting. >> absolutely. see where democrats can get coalition back together. thanks for putting this on historical context. >> congratulations on your

how difficult is it to stock an entire store of only u.s. made items and what types of things do you sell? >> it's very difficult. you have to do a lot of research to find stuff made in america. and then when you do find something, you know, you have to have a minimum order. i carry blue jeans, overhauls, hats, bathing suits, dresses, socks. hot sauce. security that was stocked with that british double agent. the kill list. president's kill list. this was huge news. how does anyone find out that the president of america has a kill list for drone strike targets? >> let alone the stuxnet virus iranian cyber attacks. you heard senator kerry furious how the "new york times" reported on what happened there. at the heart of all of this though is a question. is the obama administration leaking national security details to help his chances at re-election? that is the accusation from the right. and eric holder says to match that serious accusation he has a serious investigation which starts today. >> congressman louie on earlier to talk about the investigation into fast and furious. he also talked about these leaks. >> look, the guy has not been honest and i can help him with the leak thing. can he just go look on broadcast. you have got joe biden outing

seal team six in a public interview. biden outed the undisclosed location. you have got the "new york times" tells you who was in the room. so he can save all the time in looking for hot leaks are it's out there in public. can he work on this job. >> referring to some other leaks of course vice president biden made about where the vice president would be ferried in the case of a terror attack. undisclosed location. he mentioned that and walked it back. >> i think when he he is saying he there. is he talking about attorney general eric holder he can stop with the investigation that is starting not the president. >> there are all these leaks that are obviously deep somewhere coming -- somewhere in the administration or otherwise. and that's what this investigation will do. is completely false. >> the notion that the white house would purposely release

alleging. now we will find out. now there are special prosecutors assigned to this. so we will know more obviously in the coming weeks. we want to get to the headlines right now. we have other news to tell you about. a delay in the case of army psychiatrist accused in the fort hood shooting rampage. major nidal hasan showing up with a beard in which a judge claims violates army regulations. and says the pre-trial hearing will not take place until hasan complies with the military grooming standards. this or he can watch from outside the courtroom on a video feed. it's been more than a month since top hollywood executive gavin smith disappeared and there now there is a bizarre turn in the case. swat team searching a home in los angeles about nine miles away from where smith was last seen alive. the 57-year-old went missing from the home of a female friend on may 2nd. the home being searched reportedly belongs to a family of four. their identities or relationship to smith is not known. neighbors say nothing was taken from the home.

making a longer argument about private sector work and adding jobs. he said the private sector is doing fine. he didn't forget the word not. >> i think not. and it's unclear exactly what he was thinking that the private sector is doing fine. we know how the housing market has been hit. we know about so many people still out of work, under employed. the unemployment rate ticked up. mitt romney as you can imagine seized on this when he was on the campaign trail yesterday. >> is he really that out of touch? >> yes. >> i think he is defining what it means to be detached and out of touch with the american people. has there ever been an american president who is so far from reality as to believe in an american where 23 million americans are out of work or stopped looking for work or can only find part-time jobs and need full-time jobs for the president of the united states to stand up and say the private sector is doing fine is going to go down in

history. it's an extraordinary miscalculation and misunderstanding by a president who is out of touch. >> speaking of what comes around goes around. the very label that mitt romney has been stuck with through the this campaign out of touch, he now applies to the president. and meanwhile the president trying to walk back these comments. you decide. did he correct his earlier statement at that the private sector is fine? listen. >> listen, absolutely clear that the economy is not doing fine. that's the reason i have the press conference. that's why i spent yesterday, the day before yesterday. this past week. this paths month and this past year talking about how we can make the economy stronger. the economy is not doing fine. there are too many people out of work. the housing market is still weak and too many homes under water. and that's precisely why i

for the economy? absolutely. if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture. there is a lot more employment growth than there is reduction. you see the same thing in the overall economy. we grew our employment 40% in the u.s. since the mid 1980 the. double the productivity rate. they grew at half the productivity rate and still only increase their jobs 15 to 20%. the productivity gains that you see actually accelerate. >> let's put it up on the screen and get to you respond to that. private equity good or bad for the economy. >> we don't have the graphic but can you take my word for it interestingly though to me is that you worked with mitt romney? i. >> yes. you worked with him. you saw him every day in this environment where the democrats argue that he would take these companies and saddle them up with debt. try to run them out of business. did you see something differential? >> that's just laughable. if i had gone into an investment, a credit committee

to acknowledge because they have stonewalled it because they didn't real veal. information much higher they have not been upcoming. i think in this case what we are going to discover, if we ever get to the truth is that there has been a massive coverup of just who knew what, when. >> clayton mentioned two u.s. attorneys appointed by eric holder to investigate these leaks. how high does it go? the president said on friday it's offensive to suggest that his white house is purposefully leaking this information. so, how high does that go and why else would someone leak this information if not for political gain? >> well, i don't think the president personally ordered it. i don't think any president is that stupid. i really don't. >> no. no i doubt that he. >> but i think that they are very likely people in the white house who shout they were doing the president a favor by saying.

let me tell you how tough this guy is. let me tell you what this guy is doing. no other explanation for why the "new york times," for example, would have information that sources white house material and that describes things that happened in very closed meetings. but when you start leaking classified information that is a serious receivous preach. i will tell you why. if you go through the process of having a background check and swearing to get clearance. the process itself is very very thorough. and you know when you signed a documents and you take an oath that you are not to reveal that it's a pretty serious thing. they tell you all about what could happen to you if you reveal it. it's a big deal. as a politician of which you are. you worry about every word probably. >> is that a dirty word. >> i didn't want to call you a politician. >> broadcaster now. >> worse. >> all of the words that you say on a regular basis when you call a press conference, governor. >> yeah.

>> it's meched, right? you know why you are calling the press conference. >> yes. the president holds a press conference to talk about the economy. he draws this argument together about jobs being created and then he finishes that sentence by saying the private sector is doing fine. later in the afternoon he walks it back. did he mean to say that or does he think the private sector is doing fine? >> whether he meant to say it or not he said it the point is he is the president of the united states. there is no reason to have a press conference unless you have some news to make. he didn't have any news. before he started, i told the folks that were listening to me on that radio that day i saidlike, here is what is he going to say. i inherited the worst economy since the great depression. i would like to did more. the economy is getting better but the republicans won't let me. they are stonewalling. if they let me we will get this done. we are working better. sure enough that's what he said. he had nothing new to say. you don't do a presidential presser unless you can make some new news which he didn't do. >> he did make news that the private sector is fine.

what do you make of that statement though. >> what dufus in his administration trotted him out there for a press conference that had no substance in the first place and second place i do think he meant what he said when he said it later he walked it back because it blew up in his face like the exploding cigar. >> did he mean the private sector is doing fine like the dow is doing well? what weighs hinging that on? >> honestly, i think that in his mind, the private sector is getting better, based on both the marks and the fact that there has been this tiny up uptick, tiniy. what is he not looking at is the overall growth of the economy and the nypd is not good. we are not seeing growth. it's far below what the economists predicted and below what it needs to be in order to really come out of a recession. >> mitt romney hammered it on him yesterday as you can imagine. stick around, governor, we are going to be talking about this in just a moment. he made history the first governor ever to face a recall and win. big news, right? wrong. the mainstream media covering instead? miley sirus instead of wisconsin. we'll talk to the governor

would you admit more attention "today" showed and good morning america. stunning results in wisconsin last night scott walker ousted. >> to be fair we don't talk like that. congress most of which look like this. when you have thousands of documents that are blacked out, not to mention 7600 out of 140,000 shows that the justice department really isn't complying with subpoenas issued by congress. >> dave: take those documents combined with the wire taps we've learned about, again, what do you feel that eric holder is not telling congress about how high this went, about what he knew, about what lannie brewer knew and others? >> on thursday during the hearing, eric holder made it clear even though the wire taps show that his assistant attorney general approved gun walking tactics, throughout 2010. now, keep in mind, his assistant attorney general lannie brewer said he didn't know anything about fast and furious until december of 2010 when border patrol agent brian terry was killed and not to mention going back to the history of the scandal, eric holder's now chief of staff. gary grimler, his own

handwriting on a fast and furious presentation given in phoenix in the spring of 2010. on thursday, eric holder kept saying, none of my senior officials knew about this. none of my senior doj officials approved this tactic and in fact, this was a local issue and local program and all the evidence points to the contrary. >> not that darrell issa was softballing anything, if you could sit on the committee yourself and ask eric holder a question, what would it be. >> i think i would say, why have you changed your testimony over and over again in front of congress and why are you defending your top senior officials and political appointees in the justice department when the evidence shows that they knew about this? why hasn't anyone been fired? and that's a question that has been asked, but also, to the question of do you not care about getting to the bottom of this scandal? you've come before congress eight times and you've made it clear you're not happy coming to congress and answering

questions, but haven't expressed a whole lot of outrage and held those accountable for hundreds of deaths in ex-m as a result of this program and border patrol agent brian terry and we haven't seen those answers and congress has been trying to get to the bottom of for a year now. >> dave: they want him to go and charges. how satisfied with how they've handled this, and michael steele says we're waiting for accountability from the attorney general's office. they're not going to get accountability from the attorney general's office. that's been made very clear. the attorney general himself has refused to comply with the congressional subpoena issued in october of 2011. and so, it is time for house leadership to apply more pressure, however, i do agree that they, it's not their job, it's the job of congressman issa to come forward with you will an of the evidence from the eversight committee and say this is the case.
