4:00 am
july, america continues to lose power. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. unfortunately, i have to be paul revere. i have toll it you the country is in steep decline. let me back that up. 20 years ago in june 1992, there were 3,300,000 americans receiving federal disability payments. today, 20 years later, that number is a record 8,733,000 workers on disability. let me ask you something, is the work place that much more dangerous? is there some kind of super natural force lurking on job sites? seems to me safety rules are much more improved than they were in 1992. was was the disability rate increased more than 100%? it's a con. it's easy to put in a bogus disability claim. in '92 out of every 33 americans working one.
4:01 am
one was out on disability. now that number is one out of 15. more than a 100% increase on the taxpayer dime. and that dime is getting a lot smaller. in 1984, 85% of american workers paid federal income tax. 8 a%. now? 51% pay federal income tax. a decline of 34%. why? because of social justice. because the feds are allowing americans who don't pay much money to pay no income tax. well, you might say well, that's just fair. but the reality is, america doesn't have any money. we're broke. and that is eroding our power in a big way. by the way. i want to thank our pal bruce tinsley who writes the cartoon strip for tipping me off to the federal tax number. right now president obama and the democratic party lead the league in entitlement spending and promoting a nanny state
4:02 am
philosophy. president bush the younger didn't do much to head that off. so both parties bear some responsibility. however it, is the liberal democratic machine that continues to promote selfishness that continues to tell americans the wealthy should pay all the bills and the less well off should expect free stuff. the disability con is just one of many. you have got enormous medicare fraud. medicaid chaos all over the place. a huge rise in food stamp use. and president obama is promising more of the same if he is reelected talking points believes it's time to go back to a democrat who actually had the right idea about america. 1961 john f. kennedy said this about the u.s.a. leading the world toward free prosperity. >> the energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it. and the glow from that fire
4:03 am
can truly light the world. and so, my fellow americans, ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. >> bill: now, i want to ask each of the more than 8 million american workers currently receiving disability payments from the federal government, each one of them, are you guys honoring jfk's legacy? and that's the memo. now, for the top story tonight. first lady michelle obama speaking at a conference in nashville, tennessee saying social problems in america such as poor education and obese children should be discussed in houses of worship. >> say to anyone who said that church is no place to talk about these issues, you tell them there is no place better. no place better. [ applause ]
4:04 am
>> because ultimately these are not just political issues. they are moral issues. >> bill: it all ties into the social justice concept. and joining us from washington to react fox news analyst and radio talk show star laura ingraham. >> bill, i have got to end this segment, my back is killing me and i have got. >> bill: you need disability? >> i need to take a break. >> bill: from fox or from the radio thing. >> pain in the neck from all these crazies. >> bill: you are the pain in the neck. >> that's what they say about you o'reilly. >> bill: you are just a little bit. >> you are a 6'5" pain in the neck. >> bill: michelle obama saying, look, some of the problems we have in america even though they are in the political realm are moral situations that we have children who are suffering, who a being, you know, not given what they should give to succeed in life and you say? >> well, look, i want to look at the bright side. number one, the first lady talking about morality. that's a great thing.
4:05 am
i think that's to be celebrated. >> bill: really. you are not saying that sarcastically? >> no. i say that in all seriousness. and any time we have a prominent citizen of her stature, then that's great. and i don't personally have a problem with going to a church and talking about those things. the issue, i think arises here with the obamas though because of decades of liberals attacking faith and politics. there is always as you alluded to the separation of church and state, that's supposed to being sack sacrosang. if george bush goes to the a church and talks about marriage. importance of the marriage. traditional family, abortion, any of these types of issues, people on the left will usually say how could you do this you? are politicizing the pulpit and how dare you do this on election year. >> bill: they're moral issues as well. >> they are moral issues to a vast majority, i would submit.
4:06 am
>> bill: sure. >> of african-american pastors would think that much of what the obamas have done on issues of the hhs mandate and even on the issue of marriage comes into conflict with their views. >> bill: u. just made an excellent point. if michelle obama were here this evening and you said mrs. obama, would you consider a conversation about gay marriage in a church to be legitimate? what do you think she would say? >> i think the language would probably did i involve into well, it's okay, however, we need to be tolerant and we have all evolved to this position. in other words, the debate is really kind of shut down for a lot of people. >> bill: she couldn't say that though, laura. in some churches they go by the bible and the bible basically says that marriage is between a man and a woman. i don't think she could say anything like that. >> she didn't raise this issue at this tennessee deal which is pretty amusing because obviously there was great
4:07 am
consternation. you explored it on the factor. >> bill: she would have to say yes that is a legitimate discussion to be discussed in a house of worship. i think she would have to to remain consistent. >> a lot of groups as you pointed out that supports the obamas would go ballistic. dedicated to the idea of expunging god from the public square. getting tax exempt status as a church, should you be doing an explicit get out the vote effort which when you look at michelle obama's speech. quite a lengthy speech. when you look at the language she starts about change starts at home. change starts with each of us. using the language of her husband's campaign and moving to talk about the need to get out on election day and be part of the process, now, that's different from just talking about morality, which i think is terrific. >> bill: you think she wassousing that church in nashville, tennessee as a campaign stop. >> without a doubt. she certainly hadn't done this before. to this type of degree where you are talking about the need for individuals to get out and vote and she referred to
4:08 am
congress. members of congress. we're not going to get the things we want done unless we have the right people in washington. what is she talking about? she is talking about getting out to vote. again, i think if the shoe were on the other foot, that's crossing the line there. >> bill: i think she did a little bit. all right, laura, thanks as always. florida lifeguard saving a man's life. fired for doing that megyn kelly on an outrageous situation with a twist right
4:11 am
for doing that, lopez was fired. here now to explain attorney and fox news analyst megyn kelly. this has kind of a happy ending but not really. we will get to that. >> no. >> bill: let's walk through it the guy is a lifeguard. used to be a lifeguard. you see somebody in trouble you go save them. >> guard their life. for that he got fired. >> bill: how? >> because they had a contract this lifeguard company with the city to just guard this area. and the person was drowning over here and the lifeguard didn't quite understand the concept of the life saving stops right here. >> many many beaches says does not swim beyond this point if do you it's your responsibility. this company said to the lifeguard don't save anybody outside this zone. >> let them drown.
4:12 am
he saw the sign. tough noogies. >> bill: if the lifeguard would have let him drown the family would have sued the city. >> you have got to give it to his employer because is he paying this guy 8.25 an hour. >> bill: that much. >> 8.25 an hour to guard lives. he says i was worried about the people you weren't guarding. you left all the people there to go help that drowning guy. >> bill: there are other lifeguards on duty at the time. >> oh, but they didn't discover that until after they fired him. fire first, ask questions later. >> bill: what's the name of the company so we can embarrass them. >> hallen dale. jeff ellis management. >> now jeff is sorry. >> bill: sorry now. offered thomas back a job. >> thomas said i will focus on college studies for now. one other lifeguard quit in solidarities. six others give notice too.
4:13 am
>> bill: 8.25 an hour go to burger king and save the fries and get more than that. >> i know. >> bill: now we have a bus driver in milwaukee. this is a mass sinating story. there is an investigative reporter going around trying to find the background of people driving school buses. watch this. >> you are a school bus driver and we did a background check on you and found out you were arrested for prosecution. >> no joke. we found convicted prostitute driving bus number 821. >> it's wrong you should be driving children with conviction for prosecution. >> you -- prostitution. >> that woman is suing the reporter and the tv station, correct? >> yes. >> bill: for what. >> invasion of privacy. public recording of private facts. intentional infliction of emotional distress. she claims shes that post praatic stress disorder. >> bill: from that. >> the prostitution didn't it was that encounter. >> bill: was she convicted of
4:14 am
prostitution. >> misdemeanor, yes. >> bill: doesn't matter it's a conviction. >> a lot of people don't know that that's a misdemeanor and not a felony. just fyi. >> bill: it's on her sheet. >> yes, it's public record. >> bill: when somebody applies for a job at a school district, whether it's a teacher or school bus driver, anything with kids, isn't the school district required to check them out background check. >> they only asked for felony convictions. >> bill: only felonies? >> this didn't need to be listed. >> bill: that sounds pretty stupid, right? >> you would think they would want to know. i think they are trying to get rid of like you drove 85 in a 55 type convictions. in any event, don't you feel a little bad for her? she turned her life around. she gets a legitimate job. >> bill: that's a good point. >> the reporter is embarrassing her. >> bill: dealing with kids. >> it was prostitution. it's not like she was convicted of child abuse. >> bill: it doesn't matter. if you are going to get into that world. i don't want my kid around
4:15 am
that. >> i don't know. there were some other charges that were concerning. >> bill: you say she has no case. >> nothing. >> bill: this has got to be very fast. a woman in houston teed off at the cops trying to do speed traps, right? >> yeah. >> bill: the cops arrested her what does she do. >> god bless her. look she is holding up a sign saying speed trap ahead. i don't want to be on the side of the speeders but they get you sometimes you are going like 5 or 6 miles per hour over the hour. >> bill: grabbing them. >> she tries to warn people and they arrest her and they claim that obstruction of justice. but then the next day they don't charge her with that because it turns out that's not a legit charge for this in texas. they charge her withstanding in a public road when there is a private sidewalk right nearby. >> bill: i think that might be a misdemeanor. >> totally trumped up charge. good. >> bill: is this the houston ph.d. >> good police officer down in houston come on you know what you did. drop the charges against this lady. >> bill: fort law enforcement point of view, they don't want the citizens to be interfering
4:16 am
with their speed traps. >> but it's legal. that is legal. that's why they had to charge her with this other nonsense. >> bill: you could stand in the street if you want. >> to private sidewalk nearby you are supposed it to stand on that. >> bill: is that jail time. >> probably spend more time in the jail. >> bill: while we're talking about jail time zimmerman in the travon martin case got bail how much. >> million dollars bail. the court says he is going to make it. he will be out until trial. >> bill: megyn worked yesterday on the fourth of july which is stunning to us all. she did so for a specific reason, tell us. >> i wanted to come in because 146 the most severely wounded warriors from iraq and afghanistan were here in new york city. they went to ground zero for the first time many of them all together. it is where they believe their battle began. these are not victims. these are role models and heros. qualm, triple amputees, severe burn victims who have decided to move on with their lives and to stand as an example to awful of us. they asked for nothing in
4:17 am
return. nothing but a guy who runs the stephan siler tunnel to towers foundation, tunnel to towers.org, you have got to change the lower third. tunnels to towers.org. decided to help them get homes. they are not asking for money. they just need a place to live to help restore their independence. so on independence day, i came in to be with them to try to help people. >> bill: people need to donate to this organization? >> that's right. so they can have their dignity and home of their own ant counters lowered. >> bill: by home of their own, we mean it's a special home. >> it's a smart home. >> bill: built in things to help the wounded warriors live their lives within the homes. >> i just want to tell the viewers. one of them said this is a blessing what happened to me because with these injuries come unique challenges and in overcoming them we get to experience triumph. >> bill: did you a nice thing, ms. megyn. >> it wasn't me. tunnel to towers.org. >> we hope comes in and help
4:18 am
4:21 am
>> bill: culture warrior segment tonight, there is a difference between liberal americans and the far left. liberal people tend to want the government to solve problems to make the country a more humane place. but far left americans often don't like the country and these people have infiltrated the media to a great extent here is an example of what weighs said about independence day on nbc cable arm. >> the land on which they
4:22 am
formed this union was stolen. the hands on which they built this nation were enslaved. the women who birthed the citizens of the nation are second class. but all of this is our story. each of us benefits from the residuals of oppression and each of us is harmed by the realities of inequality. >> bill: i think we should all move to peru, you know. joining us now from stanford, connecticut gretchen carlson. jeanine pirro off this evening. every nation on this earth has in their historical background atrocities, everyone. it's the human condition. i assume you disagree with that woman but historically she is not wrong. >> she is not wrong historically and i believe that all of our kids who come up through school. you were a history teacher yourself. we should all learn all of the lessons about the indians and slavery and inequality and women's right to vote, et cetera. on the fourth of july, do you think any american really wants to hear about the negatives of this country? or do they want to celebrate
4:23 am
-- >> -- people who watch that network do. because. >> i don't know. >> bill: this is where you are going wrong. the far left in america, which is entirely watches that, they hate the country. >> i think. >> bill: they want to break it down and build up a total new america. >> on the fourth of july? >> bill: on christmas, on halloween, every day. >> only public holiday in our country where we actually celebrate america. you would think for one day. no. >> we could talk about the wonderful things that this country offers. the american dream and why millions of people want to come here every year to become a citizen. >> bill: that would be like asking the far left people on one day of the year to celebrate bill o'reilly. to tell everybody how great bill really is. the other days they could -- never going to happen. now, this is what she went on to say. we couldn't run the whole clip. she went on to say on the fourth of july, i'm going to think of rikers island
4:24 am
graduates. prisoners. waive a flag. not because i have forgotten my nation's many wrongs because i remember them. i'm proud of my country not because of perfection because the alternative is too grim. give up on the nation founded in the belief if not the practice that we're all created equal. okay. so, i mean, that's just a dodge because she knew she was going to be held to account by someone for the anti-american diatribe on the fourth of july. however -- >> -- what does prisoners getting g.e.d.es have to do with the fourth of july? >> bill: nothing. >> nothing. >> bill: she is trying to petty fog the issue. what percentage of issues would you say despise their country? there are some on the right who despise heir country as well. >> i have no idea, bill. >> bill: i would say it's 15%. 1-5. >> really? 15%? >> bill: i would say so. >> on the fourth of july i was focused on being with people that i love, my family, my
4:25 am
friends, my children, and, you know, the lessons of patriotism that i hope that i'm teaching my kids are that they are darn lucky to live in this great country of ours. and if they work hard, they, too, can achieve the american dream. and we should be thankful for all the people who have served this nation in whatever capacity from the military and beyond. and that's the lesson that i hope my kids got from yesterday and that's what i think the majority of the americans want to talk about on the fourth of july. >> bill: i think you are absolutely right. the majority of us love our country. we understand there were bad things that happened. we also understand that millions of good americans died in the civil war trying to right some of those wrongs. of course, that's very rarely mentioned on the far left precincts. by the way chris rock will weigh in on this. wait until you hear what he says. gretchen thanks very much. plenty more as the factor moves along this evening. we have adam carolla and dennis miller back to back. that may present problems if
4:26 am
4:28 am
4:29 am
balance. comedian adam carolla has a book out called not taco bell material. recently he said this to the daily caller web site, quote: if you are a conservative in hollywood, you are on a list of people who need to be put in their place. if you are woody allen you do what you want. if you are spike lee, you can go ahead and tweet out the address of the guy who the new black panthers has put a bounty on and there is no repercussions because hollywood will decide who is guilty and who is not guilty. unquote. joining us now from los angeles, mr. carolla. how much influence do you think show biz is going to have on the presidential election? >> i kind of think it is who the celebrity is. it's a double edged sword there is some celebrities you don't want backing you like if you are barack obama you don't want michael richards backing you. that would be a problem. you probably don't want mel gibson but george clooney is
4:30 am
cool but, on the other hand, if you hang out at too many parties with aretha franklin and jessica jessica. and all the celebrities. then you are losing touch with the common man. you are hanging out with the man. so, to me, he has got to be careful how about hobnobbing he he does with celebries. >> bill: but there is no doubt that hollywood is firmly behind barack obama. want him to be reelected there are a lot of people who watch a lot of hollywood-driven material. talk shows, entertainment shows like entertainment tonight and all of that. and these kinds of programs are going to feature barack obama in a vy positive light. will that have any effect on the voting? >> it isn't going to hurt. but i mean adam sandler came out with a movie two weeks ago that did nothing at the box office. and there were tons and tons of billboards and i saw tons and tons of commercials for
4:31 am
it. and i think called that's my boy. the point is i don't remember what it was called. complete and utter disaster at the box office. not because they didn't have a bunch of positive comecialtion and a bunch of positive billboards. it's that people thought, too we really want to see another crappy adam sandler movie and they thought no. so, people are a little bit smarter than that. they may think do we want a sequel to the barack obama movie or don't we? bill, i had this interesting thought when i was driving in. and thinking about liberals and hollywood and hipsters and how they all drive prius, right? >> bill: right. >> what percentage of them would still drive a prius if it was made by g.m.? >> bill: i don't know. what percentage? >> do you think it would be quite a bit less? >> bill: i don't know. because toyota makes the prius. you think they like the japanese? >> i think they don't like this country. i think if g.m. made a prius,
4:32 am
michael moore wouldn't drive it. and probably neither would the rest of the hollywood community. >> bill: that's the point i was making in the previous segment with gretchen carlson, culture warriors, there are hard core 15% of people who are americans who don't like the country. do you think the hollywood left doesn't like america? do you really think that? >> i don't -- i think there is -- i think it's somewhere in between. do you think sean penn loves this country? >> bill: no, i do not. i think that goes back to his father and the blacklist in the 50s and all of that i do not believe sean penn loves the country. >> right. and then there are many on the left that do but never stop criticizing it it's one of these things like you go i love my sister dearly i just wish she would lose 20 pounds and her skin would clear up and she would learn how to be a sober mother. but at a certain point how much do you love her? >> bill: yeah, that's right. i got it now, i have a suggestion for you, carolla, your book is not taco bell material. it's a best seller. you could sell more copies if
4:33 am
you would actually work at taco bell for one day. if taco bell were smart, they would hire you because they wouldn't hire carolla when he was unknown. now they should hire you. you should work there for a night. unbelievable publicity. how about that? >> i'm all for it but do you think that people who work around refriday -- refried beatens all day are smart in they are not the best and the brightest. >> bill: you can't go in there saying that you have got to go in there with a burrito in your mouth. that's the why they didn't hire you. >> listen, if i go in there with a burrito in my mouth they're going to call the cops and throw a butterfly net on me. >> bill: that'sthat's all right. that would make more sales. d man, white house salaries and how he predicted obama care correctly. miller is next. ps [ male announcer ] if you had a dollar for every dollar
4:36 am
car insurance companies say they'll save yoby switching, you'd have like, a ton of dollars. but how are they saving you those dollars? a lot of companies might answer "um" or, "no comment." then there's esurance. born online, raised by technology, and majors in efficiency. so whatever they save, you save. hassle, time, paperwork, hair-tearing-out, and yes, especially dollars. esurance. insurance for the modern world. click or call. >> bill: thanks for staying with us. i'm bill o'reilly in the miller time seeing want tonight on friday before the july 4th weekend. the white house announced that its payroll is up about $700,000 from last year. with 14 more employees working on pennsylvania avenue. the president makes 400,000 bucks a year. vice president 230,700.
4:37 am
and many presidential advisors $172,000 each. people like valerie jarrett. joining us now from santa barbara, california, mr. miller. and you say about the presidential payroll? >> i can't believe that dipstick biden makes north of a duce. they ought to pay him off in beaver pelts as bad as he is i mean for god's sake. and the president making 4. biden is at 230. could we not give somebody some back end profit if they put the country on the right track? get a jack welch in there? what are we paying him 400 for? biden is getting 230? >> bill: that's a private market thing you are doing here. they don't do that at the government. when the federal government controls the economy there is no incentives. >> god forbid we try something new because these are the glory days right here, right? everything is going swimmingly. i saw as i read down that list, billy that can a
4:38 am
leggographers are making 8 a, $90,000. they got three calligraphers on stack. >> when clinton was in there it was a calligoligist. they would arrange some of the activities around the place. >> bill: wait, i have to stop you. you are outrunning your coverage here. calligraphers for whose who don't know are people who have fancy, beautiful hand writing that is used in invitations. calligolist work for the old roman emperor procuring him who knows what? >> calligist would procure calligraphers for calliglia. >> bill: he hired 14 more people? >> i know every niche group in the world now has a press rep

in the white house. i love it when groups want to go mainstream and yet they all have to hire a publicist so they can maintain their unique qualities. this country isn't even a melting pot anymore. it's a 64 crayon box where every crayon thinks it's the sharpest one in the box. then i saw they had 85,000 down there for an ethics guide in the white house. an ethics guide in the white house. this guy makes the maytag repairman look like a pyramid slain for god's sake. >> bill: i wonder what floor he is on? >> they have got him chain dollars to the rat cage out 1984 down in the subbasement. >> bill: i want to be the ethics guy at the white house. what a great job. i will see you in november, you know, one of those. >> check. [ laughter ] >> bill: you heard carolla mention george clooney is one of the as well as that barack obama swells that barack obama is hanging around with. over in europe and geneva

raising money for the president, correct? >> listen, clooney seems like a cool guy to me. i disagree with him almost completely politics. not the things he does down in africa. i love the fact they use their fame to help those people. on domestic politics i just disagree with george clooney. it doesn't make me dislike him. we are demetricly opposed. i will say. this i wish he could stop telling me how great everything is going back here from northern italy. i'm back here in the gallies, pulling my ore. is he up on lake cuomo with a bikini and a jet ski telling me come on back here. >> bill: you are in a gally ship? you are in santa barbara, california. going down main street there? >> i didn't say the ore wasn't fur wrapped but i am on an ore over here. >> bill: i know. can i see the chains right in back of you. turn around and look at the back drop, miller. >> i'm afraid he'll hit me

4:42 am
split it down the middle i'm screwed. i think kennedy was a genius here getting in early and getting in often. it's like the chicago vote, man. >> bill: are you mad at the chief justice? >> na, he is just representative of his times. this is a soft country, billy. you know what? we pursue the european model now. i started with the clinton joke i will end with one. give clinton that when he said he dug european models, he actually meant european models. there was a certain honesty about the guy. >> bill: dennis miller, everybody. great american news quiz, the corrupt politicians edition. questions for you after these
