i use the fan and i haven't been able to afford one because of my income. >> we eat sandwiches because cooking makes it hotter. >> heather: maria joins us from the fox weather center with the latest forecast. it looks like things are going to improve. >> they are going to be improving but we have to remember it is july. it's going to be warm out there. temperatures will increase back down into the 90s and upper 80s for many people across parts of midwest and great lakes and northeast for the next several days. don't expect to see temperatures dipping down into the 60's but south of front we're seeing some of the hot temperatures and it's still humid out there. you factor in the heat and humidity, d.c., 110 degrees what it feels like. 108 in raleigh and so we're

seeing very dangerous levels of heat across states like illinois missouri, parts of the states of kentucky and mid-atlantic, virginia, north carolina where we're seeing the heat index values over hundred degrees. it's dangerous out there. a number of heat advisories are across the region. we'll see a bit of a relief the next several days but it is still dangerous. something hells we have to keep in mind, we're actually going to be seeing strong to severe storms firing up ahead of that. when you have heat and front and humidity you start to see strong showers and storms firing up. virginia you are under the gun, maryland you could be seeing strong to severe storms. we already have two severe thunderstorm watches in effect. conditions are favorable for some of the storms to produce large hail and damaging winds. they are not tornado watches but you can get rotation with some of these storms and we could see

an isolated tornado. two watches until 10:00 p.m., northern virginia and kentucky are included in those areas. heavy rains in eastern texas, four inches of rainfall. parts of kentucky, as well. over virginia and north carolina in through tomorrow strong to severe storms and a lot of heavy rain. keep that in mind, you will need the umbrellas but you will get a bit of relief from hot temperatures. >> heather: thank you very much. >> gregg: now to indiana, they are urging residents to cut back on water usage. most are being asked to voluntarily reduce it by 5%. in harder hit areas, they are being asked to scale back 10% or more. the spokesman says the system is overburdened. >> there is a lot of water being used and lots of water going through our aging infrastructure

that can create possible water main breaks. reservoir levels are also dropping. >> gregg: utility warning the supply levels continue to drop a mandatory ban will be issued. >> heather: new reaction from lawmakers in both parties as we see new signs of the fragile u.s. economy may be stalling. june's jobs numbers a huge disappointment. only 80,000 jobs were created. lackluster recovery is major campaign issue for president obama and governor mitt romney. steve centanni is live in washington. so steve, how is the obama administration defending itself in wake of these dismal numbers? >> they are saying we're going in the right direction but there are also acknowledging we haven't gone far enough yet. >> we saw on friday that our

economy is growing and we're academy jobs. we're not growing fast enough and we're not adding enough jobs. >> what is the argument, after four years, what has been the argument? >> we have made progress but we have a long way to go. >> reporter: now the president himself has acknowledged we need to grow the economy faster and put more people back to work and the white house says we need to continue the same policy to build that stronger economy. >> heather: what are republicans saying about the economy? >> they say we need a new president. romney has focused exclusively on the economy. today his supporters continued hammering away at the president. >> this is most petid recovery if it is a recovery on the deep recession in american history. the economy is just sputtering along and the reason in my judgment is what the administration chose to do,

around the world. if banks are manipulating this, bashing collision has been accused of it. >> gregg: other ones say they have been involved and we don't know which one. >> so we don't know we don't know know how many banks are involved. this could be one of them. >> gregg: scandal number three, how did the bank lose billions of dollars in bad trades in chief investment office. is there strategy too risky. how much are we talking about here? >> two billion and then it went up on four and wells fargo analyst. >> gregg: that is saying it could be as much as $9 billion. >> this doesn't bother me as much. jamie dimon says we were dumb and sloppy. taxpayers weren't on the hook

he is the chief law enforcement officer of the country. i think we can agree on this point. we need an even immigration policy. one of the things that disturbs me about this whole discussion about immigration in america today or illegal immigration, is that we don't look at visas. 40-45% of the illegal immigrants in this country are those that overstayed their visas. i want to expand the conversation and not just run to the border but what is happening within our borders. >> on that point. let's take a look at a poll from june 25th 53% of voters favoring passage of an immigration law like arizona's in their own state. 31% are opposed to such a measure in the state where they live. 16% undecided. you can see people overwhelmingly like the law in

arizona. >> that is because the people in the united states understand it's not racist. it's only the people like eric holder and president obama trying to insinuate that. that racial profiling, that they are racially profiling. most people understand we need legitimate immigration reform. i agree with her, we should look at all the people here illegally. i'm okay with that. >> we can't go past the fact that racial profiling is a big issue in america. just in june. >> i how do you know that? >> i do know. that we see the former governor of arizona, a man with a pacemaker, who was stopped and held for 40-45 minutes. >> i was a 37-year-old white woman held up in israel not allowed to get into an airplane until they went through my luggage three or four times. >> this is the united states of

not true. >> heather: the republican governors of four states they have declared that they want on to opt out of the expansion. leaders half of dozen other states, including texas home to one of the largest concentrations of uninsured people are considering following suit. do you think this will galvanize the republican party? >> yeah, i really do. if you are a red state governor, certainly representing a red stated, you ought to think long and hard before you opt in to obamacare. they tell you they are going to pay hundred percent of the increased coverage under medicaid, but you and i have heard this story before. federal government will pay for a period of time. they will pay hundred percent but that will be dialed back over time. today they only pay 55% of other medicaid costs. there is no free lunch. american people have to pay for this program. if you are a republican governor sitting in a red stated or sitting in any a better solution might very well be to opt out of

obamacare and let the president try to figure out through thinks crazy state exchange scheme. >> heather: if that happens, they could be far reaching because the law top ambition is to expand coverage to 30 million uninsured insured americans. what does the obama administration do then? >> i want to go back something that strikes a chord with all of america. the idea that republican governors are only representing republican constituents, red states have different interests than all states is a falsehood we need to stop perpetuateing. you have to think about what the mat vacation of these governors are. clearly they are not motivated by the best needs of their constituents who in most of these red states, ones in south are in need of medical care. they have highest rolls rolls of

out, do know go around standing water. abandoned tires, pool covers, all those things, birdbaths, change the water every three to five days. >>gregg: if you are bitten? >>guest: well, there are products. some cause you to get tired so the best thing if you get the bites is a cool compress. that works well. it releaves the itching. they can use a special bath you are submerged in, and it keeps you from itching too much. i am not a fan of using steroid creams or topical creams. and when you get a bite and a rash you think you have to wash more but what is the worst.

the more dry the skin the more it itches. >>gregg: and you also have to worry about ticks, right? >>guest: ticks, the difference, ticks and lime -- lyme disease, examine the person, the tick must build on you for 24 hours to transmit that to you to get the disease. so ticks are difficulty. can you look at one camping and make sure they do not have ticks on them and remove them if they do and they will not get sick. >>shannon: so the best advise is, avoid altogether, what? >>guest: prevention is the best. no antibiotic when you get west nile. so, use sleeves. try to put tape or change your screens if they are ripped and watch out for stagnant water. >>gregg: that will do it for us. fox news sunday, and john roberts sitting in for chris wallace is coming up next.
