peert s peterson's murder trial. the case nearly ended in a mistrial three different times. they will argue circumstantial evidence points to peterson in the drowning death of kathleen sabio back in 2004. they say her death was a tragic accident. the jury could start deliberating sometime this afternoon. they are tracking down the stolen you haul in detroit. the rented truck full of metal detectors was taken from a hotel as they prepared for joe biden's labor day events. the truck was found in an apartment complex but some equipment was still missing. a few cases marked secret service were discovered at an abandoned house in another neighborhood. they are releasing these photos of a person of interest. they we >> hollywood is mourning the loss of actor michael clarke

of the message before. have they hit their stride with this simple theme? >> it goes back to the question of ronald reagan when he ran on are you better today than you were four years ago. no, we weren't jimmy carter did not do a good enough job to get us to a point where they felt they were better off. they are trying to reprize that question. one even said we are not better off before flipping to the next day. >> hold on. let's talk about that one. you are referring to democratic governor of maryland o'malley. americans are worse offer than he was but he backtracked yesterday saying well, we are better off. what do you think happened here? >> he probably got a little lecture from the obama campaign

people saying that he ought to reconsider his position on that if they want to continue to act as a surrogate for them. even if democrats thought the economy was better off today than it was four years ago it's hard for them to come out and say that. >> to many americans it doesn't appear that way. >> in many ways the unemployment rate is up. real unemployment rate is up. food stamps are up. the debt has increased by 5-6 trillion dollars. these things are not good index indexes. >> sure jamie on the other hand we have a recent poll associated press poll i want to ask you about this. 60 percent say things are the same or financial situation is actually better than it was four years ago. how do they argue things are tougher today? >> i think they argue in many different ways. if you look at the unemployment

rate it is higher than it was in 2009. where is america today? america with a debt problem with $16 trillion which i think is the number one problem we are hurdling off a cliff. in the 3 and a half years that president obama has been in office not a single debt plan he has put on the cabtable on pape. that significantly resinates in the way that we have not addressed our long-term fiscal problems which threatens us. >> let's talk about that debt. supposed to hit the 16 strl dollar mark. could happen as early as today. if you are democrats i guess you don't even bother to bring that one up unlike the republicans they had the big debt clock ticking at their convention. >> that's not even a big number in my mind. the 16 trillion is where our debt is right now. that's not including our long-term unfunded liabilities which there is no solution for coming from the obama

administration. we are talking in the hab hood of $100 trillion through medicaid, medicare and social security. this needs to be addressed. so far today unfortunately president obama has not put a plan on the table. i think that is a key failure of the obama administration 3 and a half years out. >> former president bill clinton is set to take the stage tomorrow. you think it's a good idea or bad idea? he remind democrats of much stronger economy yet it can draw real contrast in terms of where things are today. >> good idea if he stays on message. several incidents where president clinton went off message where he calls mitt romney's business career sterling when the obama campaign was trying to paint it as the opposite. president clinton is at the apex of his popularity. over 60 percent of america have
