founder, they call it the day of the sun and we should get a glimpse of the north korean leader kim jong-un, lying low lately. what we don't know if that mid range missile is going to launch today. so far in the last few minutes, no news. no new reports sunday of any movement, but still, the government and military here remains on high alert. the media here is calling this a critical day, harris. >> i know i was just telling our viewers that there's a history of doing military show stunts around big days like this. >> absolutely. there is a history, well-timed events, harris, we've been to north korea a few times and we were there last night at this time and we saw a failed missile launch supposed to tie into the 100th anniversary. and some say last december and some said it was time to mark the death of kim jong-il and even to some americans events. now, those arguing today that there might not be a launch.

kim jong-un might have gotten what he wanted, the world's attention. harris. >> harris: what we saw yesterday, the secretary of state john kerry telling that country, while he was visiting in china not to even think about that missile launch. he just wrapped up his trip to the asian region. what has been the outcome? >> it's been an urgent round of diplomacy by secretary of state kerry and he's about to leave there and about to speak out against the missile launch and provocation and said that the u.s. would defend itself and allies of any threats and also talking a lot about possible new approaches to the north. restarting multi-party tax, back channel negotiations and even high level diplomatic contact again between the u.s. and pyongyang, all of this, however, harris is based on the north giving up the nukes and that, they really don't want to do. back to you. >> greg palkot on the ground for us tonight on the korean peninsula. thank you very much. so the threat is heightened because it's a holiday for them, but some context on how

korea is grabbing most of the headlines these days, there are growing concerns over iran's nuclear ambitions. >> tehran announced this weekend that it set to test three new rockets, according to iranian state media, described them surface to air missiles, but the army claim they were only for deterrent purposes, but still comes on the heels of the republic's announcement it would increase uranium production, the key element in building a nuclear bomb and adding the nuclear talks with iran. despite another round of talks in kazakhstan last week, diplomates admit that iran at u.s. remain far apart. and so both president obama and israeli leaders promised they will not allow that to happen. many analysts believe tehran is watching the way the world

trip across america. california, the coast guard releasing this video showing the rescue of those people from a tugboat that began taking on water. they were forced to emit the emergency beacon and hopped into a life raft. and the coast guard zeroed in on the beacon's position. there were high waves and winds at the time, but no official caught. in louisiana, a pilot practicing aerial stunts when it malfunctioned forcing him to bail out and parachutes to the ground. he was hurt, but managed to drive himself to a hospital. and it crashed not far from a high school, but no injuries on the ground. texas, big state with one city shrinking the size of government. the city of el paso saying goodbye to the city hall.
