time procrastinators. today is the day. it is time to file your returns. if you are still working on your forms and you have last minute questions we have some answerer fou. we have bob mean with tips. hi. >> good morning. >> the first tip is if you are running out of time you should file on-line. >> that's correct. with less than a halfw day to g first of all relax take a deep breath then start on-line by going to the internet where you can prepare your return right up to the 11th hour this evening. going on-line fast, easy convenient no appointment is needed. second tip i would provide is file electronically. there's no paperwork to printout, sign and mail. everything is done digitally. if you have a refund select direct deposit. that puts the money right into your bank account. on the other hand, if you owe uncle sam the money then you want to select direct debit so

you are not having to write a check and mail it to the irs. >> a lot of people weary about this. they give you a confirmation on the spot once you sent it to them so you know it went through. >> that's one of the benefits of electronic filing there's no more going to the post office to get the certified mail receipt. >> and it is free. >> if you know you are not going to get this done you have to file an extension. >> i think you are talking about me and the 10 million other americans who haven't fileled their return and will get an extension. >> you haven't filed yet? >> i haven't. here's the tip. go on-line where you can file an automatic 6 month extension if i am time to file. the important point is it's an extension of time to file, not an extension of time to pay. >> very important. you have to estimate what you owe even if you haven't done all of the paperwork yet, send out the check or you will get penalized. >> what's the last tip there.

if you don't have the money to pay you should still file because you will be penalized more for not filing. you can work out a payment plan. >> more and more families are struggling financially and the irs knows that. the irs is here to help. i said the irs is here to help. that's surprising. the thing is for those people who can't pay right now it's important you file your return and pay what you can. then go on-line to the irs site where you can fill out an installment agreement very simple document costs about 50 bucks and it allows you to make payments as long as 6 years. >> 6 years to make a payment. >> there's a common mistake. most common is getting your social security wrong. >> tloor fewer mistakes today than in the past. software diagnostics help with errors on your return. there's things to watch for. double check your social security number and names on the

this ongoing crisis. in north korea a celebration of the birthday of the country's founder kim il-sung. the world wonders what his grandson will do. at the very least the north does have the ability to launch a conventional attack. u.s. secretary of state john kerry arrived in japan which could be in the flight path of the north korean missile calling for a diplomatic resolution that would appear to be an offer for direct negotiation. >> the united states remains open to authentic and credible negotiations on de nuclearization. north korea must take meaningful steps to show it is honoring commitments it has already made. >> but the end came for kim jong-un is unclear. is he just trying to hold on to power?
