9:05 pm
superstar, brilliant panel. i don't know to how it. they do. they're so vessels that normally comedia tv presenter tommy sandow there is rebecca jane , sandow there is rebecca jane, broadcaster and deputy leader of ukip and sean bailey, the former prime minister of the view. so i just by what show and it was something graceful about the way that you are sitting there your legs crossed over the sort of brought up that kind of ministerial element to me we. want to hear from you wonderful viewers of course. us what viewers of course. tell us what you're up to this you're getting up to this christmas gb news at gb views, don't you, kate? don't mention the last minute, but first a bit of poetry . twas the night , of poetry. twas the night, christmas when all through the house not a creature was stirring even a mouse. the stockings were hung by the chimney with care and hopes that st nicholas soon would that the children would all snug in their beds , while visions of
9:06 pm
beds, while visions of sugarplums in their heads. a mama and her cat chief and i and my cat had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap the opening verse is there from a visit from nicholas, which clement moore wrote 1822, which makes if my be gcse maths is worth anything , it's 200 year worth anything, it's 200 year anniversary now. obviously a lot's changed in two centuries. we don't say twas any more added nigh off to cancelling tis was and there's no way my kids are yet snuggled up in their beds two days out of school there already gone feral stockings have been hung up though i dread to think how my children would react if they woke up and found sugarplums rather than hardcore process sweets on them. and yes, i do actually wear a to bed i do actually wear a cat to bed , but that's only so my wife can convince that i still have her. my convince that i still have her. my favourite line though . my favourite line though. certainly the most relevant in today's world is the need to settle our brains. it's what christmas eve and tonight's show
9:07 pm
is all about, because i don't know about you, but 2022 has just barrel by even faster than evenl just barrel by even faster than ever, i guess because it's the yearin ever, i guess because it's the year in a while that life's somewhat back to normal for many. this evening may the first moment you've had to decelerate and decompress which is important here at gb news. we love an argument. we love a debate. that's what were created for. but during this period of goodwill to all mankind , we're goodwill to all mankind, we're going to have a temporary . don't going to have a temporary. don't worry. i'm sure we'll still some disagreements, but toning down the rhetoric a bit , we're disagreements, but toning down the rhetoric a bit, we're going to have some music hold hands, okay. maybe holding is going too far . but for okay. maybe holding is going too far. but for those of you okay. maybe holding is going too far . but for those of you who far. but for those of you who find this time of year, for those of you still wrapping presents or who forgot to buy presents, all worried about arguing with family tomorrow or might just want an entertaining distraction before sleep takes you and santa's over the next 2 hours. we've got something for
9:08 pm
everyone so enjoy each other's company. have a laugh , possibly company. have a laugh, possibly even a moment of to reflection so that our brains can get nice and settled . let's and settled. let's some christmas thoughts from my panel and tv presenter tommy sandow. there is rebecca jane, the deputy chief leader of ukip. do you say chief and shaun bailey now not the prime minister? shaunis now not the prime minister? shaun is sure that something happened over the last 10 minutes, although the former conservative of canada for london mayor although in my eyes you'll always be my prime minister. shaun rebecca now do you find this time of year stressful ? they hate it . that's stressful? they hate it. that's all your . stressful? they hate it. that's all your. hair. welcome, everybody . yes i don't everybody. yes i don't particularly love christmas . i particularly love christmas. i swear i'm working. it's absolutely fine . me? i do. i absolutely fine. me? i do. i
9:09 pm
like for my kids. i've dragged them along me tonight. but i do find it really stressful. it tends to be not particularly by the sentiment of christmas anymore and this just must free for all commerciality and not decent entertainment. i also get very concerned and bothered about the people that are on road and the homeless and things like that. i'm always usually very happy it's over. so a little bit of cynicism , a little little bit of cynicism, a little bit of empathy and sure . do you bit of empathy and sure. do you feel the same way? how are this evening? the complete evening? i'm the complete opposite . absolutely. opposite. absolutely. love christmas . it's opposite. absolutely. love christmas. it's one of opposite. absolutely. love christmas . it's one of the few christmas. it's one of the few times in the year i could stop all of my meetings. i get to go church a little bit more. i have more time with the kids i love the presents. i love the whole going for walk. i'm currently babysitting which going for walk. i'm currently be added ng which going for walk. i'm currently be added to which going for walk. i'm currently be added to whole. which going for walk. i'm currently beadded to whole. so which going for walk. i'm currently beadded to whole. so i which is added to the whole. so i absolutely christmas. and absolutely love christmas. and plus moment to hug the plus it's a moment to hug the family talk old time and family and talk old time and i have a few traditions i've made with friends of mine so we'll get we've this thing called getting together for christmas, a whatsapp group we meet a whatsapp group we always meet up where we are in the
9:10 pm
up no matter where we are in the world those kind of world and all those kind of activities. just love activities. i just love christmas. think it's great, christmas. i think it's great, actually. i love i said, tell me you've got a fantastic christmas jumper wear that jumper that oh, do you wear that through year? no, this through the year? no, this is just indian and trying just me being indian and trying to the of because. to make the most of it because. a couple weeks ago i'm a couple of weeks ago i'm thinking, well of 200. tomorrow i'm wear it. i'm i'm going to wear it. so i'm going wear it constantly for going to wear it constantly for the last 24 hours. but we've been of a faith. been at of a sikh faith. christmas is the biggest festival celebrate our festival that we celebrate our house fan festival that we celebrate our house far. we out house by far. we go all out we've got 17 people coming tomorrow. i've already made the vegetable pie i've marinated my rack lamb the turkey i know rack of lamb the turkey i know it's got to go in about 1030 tomorrow so love it tomorrow morning. so i love it for feasting element for the for the feasting element for the festivities , the family festivities, for the family element bringing together, element and bringing together, i think everyone should kind of touch you can put all your work touch you can put all your work to one side. i didn't check my emails that i don't want to and i'm going to check in for i'm not going to check in for another three or four days. and i think christmas gives us that licence to the rest of licence to say to the rest of the world focus on the world and just focus on what's important which for is what's important which for me is family. absolutely showing
9:11 pm
family. absolutely and showing exactly you exactly as you said that you slow bit, you reflect slow down a bit, you reflect dunng slow down a bit, you reflect during this festive season is that also partly going to church or you just sort of stay at or do you just sort of stay at home well? and love it home as well? and i love it because my little we get because in my little we get together we put puppet show together we put on puppet show the games night the kids we put on a games night for everybody. our local fire service comes round to feed some of elderly people in of the lonely elderly people in our area. it's just a our in our area. so it's just a great to be around. and great time to be around. and also we've had such a also as well, we've had such a tough with lockdown. i'm tough time with lockdown. i'm hoping you business comes hoping that you business comes back. we've got some local businesses. use local cafe businesses. i use a local cafe because love a good fry up . because i love a good fry up. but is important but this christmas is important to them. i need people to come out and get involved and do things. i have a friend. i things. and i have a friend. i work with keith prince, work with one keith prince, which channel i he does which his channel i know he does lot of charity work around this time. a lot of feed the homeless people, making sure people people, a lot making sure people have go for have a place to go for christmas. and i'd like to support that well. support with that as well. i just just wanted the whole just i just wanted the whole time a of community time a sort of community outpouring don't outpouring that you don't normally times out normally especially in times out with really arguing about lockdowns . that seems to be the lockdowns. that seems to be the last couple of years that. yeah
9:12 pm
i mean rebecca do you have any tips for survival say dressing up particularly this up particularly glam this evening. part of it? evening. is that part of it? yeah. know , not let us at yeah. you know, not let us at least try and look like a light christmas and yeah no honestly i genuinely if you are struggling to survive this period that's okay to and do know it is going to be over soon will resume try and take the wins where you can enjoy the best that you can but you know you have to just knuckle down to survive. that's okay. yeah. i mean, are you are you fully prepared if you've got all the i saw your daughters out there. got their presents. there. they got their presents. hopefully they see there's hopefully they can't see there's someone their ears. someone closed their ears. have you or science got you got their or science has got that presence. you talking to somebody has anxiety at the somebody that has anxiety at the best of times. so i'm never going to feel like looking prepared. probably overly prepared. i'm probably overly prepared, but still never feel like i'm prepared. but santa is apparently on the way to our house. so, you know, fingers , house. so, you know, fingers, somebody's being good in the and
9:13 pm
if he hears how negative you've been about christmas right now i think he's going to hear about look i'm going to get presence to but you lady, to the kids. but you young lady, i'm gb news santa is a santa is an avid watcher of the golden show. we know that you change in all round. would have all year round. he would have t would with your would have had with your nativity now you're off nativity right now you're off the list. i'm i have never said that i belong on the good . that i belong on the good. there's one point in the there's not one point in the year say that you year why you say that that you know that whole is very expensive it's going for good money at the moment so i think the more people wouldn't mind a bag chocolate happily take bag of chocolate happily take that so i mean sure you know do you think people get less cynical? you've kind of hinted at but do you think there is at it but do you think there is this there's a real this kind of there's a real thing. like there's thing. it seems like there's kind in the air at kind of respite in the air at the moment is just so there is this such a thing feels tangible, almost this of tangible, almost this sort of goodwill. we it, don't we? goodwill. we need it, don't we? look, we've had lockdown. look, we've had a lockdown. we've economic strife, cost we've had economic strife, cost of living, all kind of of living, all these kind of things. they just want things. want a they just want a break they just want a moment
9:14 pm
where they're not think about work about who they work not think about who they owe how tough owe to, money how tough things are. just want to move forward. and know some people really and i know some people really struggle and struggle around christmas and i've in particular who i've got a few in particular who do what is single, but what she's this period is to she's using this period is to build forward . so if build going forward. so if you've been on facebook or written to people and said, look, if you're single in this area, you know, let's get but not only in christmas time, let's try to keep this kind more and and more because and more and more because ultimately most ultimately the single most interesting thing the world is other people , we are built other people, we are built spiritually, physically and emotionally to be relationships . if you don't have that and christmas reminds you of that, use this as an opportunity to just at least think about what you tried to do. know it isn't you tried to do. i know it isn't easy, but that the message easy, but that hope the message of hope that jesus of christmas is hope that jesus gave a message hope. that gave a message of hope. that hope keeps hope springs eternal, keeps people try to help your fellow man and woman indulge you. that hope. well well, sean, it sounds like you're trying to your friend a date on this. i thought the things about i mean the same things about i mean
9:15 pm
tell you're not christian . tell me you're not a christian. i'm christian either yet i'm not a christian either yet i shall nice chicken shall be making a nice chicken tomorrow . the presents are all tomorrow. the presents are all there will be there when santa arrives . i there will be there when santa arrives. i mean, there will be there when santa arrives . i mean, it's there will be there when santa arrives. i mean, it's bigger being christian, isn't it? yeah, i think so and i think, you know, when you when, you, i think about this all the time around time because when you are from an ethnic family and i'm from an ethnic family and i'm from an ethnic family and i'm from a family of a different faith and, you know, my dad came over here on you know, over here on a boat, you know, with his dad, and slowly with his dad, and they slowly brought over and we brought the family over and we slowly i remember in my slowly and i remember in my lifetime, we slowly began adopting christmas festivities into life because obviously into our life because obviously it a bit we appearing over it was a bit we appearing over the a little bit somewhat the fence a little bit somewhat christian activities christian events and activities .then christian events and activities . then you join in the hymns and you think it was a good fun i love to sing. so and ultimately the of all religions you know of say it's about inclusion it's families about looking after each other it's a sense of community. and i think i buy into my family will buy into the festivities element and we don't maybe celebrate the full religious messages of christianity and of christmas.
9:16 pm
we can we can we can respect it in the same way that is respected. another festival the respected. another festival the respected by people who over christian faith throughout the yeah christian faith throughout the year. so goodness are year. so think goodness are celebrating is really what multicultural britain is all about. so i'm and i think most ethnic minority people do as well. and by the way, how are you doing your chicken tomorrow? because are you are you kind of have you because i'm brining my turkey tonight it's brining turkey tonight so it's brining for hours to add extra for 24 hours to add that extra moisture to do one the moisture to do one of the chicken meals. going to open chicken meals. i'm going to open up going turn it on up oven, i'm going to turn it on and to chuck the and then i'm to chuck the chicken in and. then i'm going to go to sleep school board, school board. school boy, school board. josh school boy, it schoolboy but is it is. schoolboy but it is better my makes it. better than my wife makes it. coming will be joined by coming up, we will be joined by some heavyweights some political heavyweights and they to tell us how they will be here to tell us how we can those heated family we can win those heated family debates. the christmas turkey tomorrow don't go tomorrow lunchtime. don't go away .
9:17 pm
9:18 pm
9:19 pm
9:20 pm
welcome back to the show. as we all know, christmas is a time of joy, all know, christmas is a time of joy, love , merriment, goodwill , joy, love, merriment, goodwill, all mankind and, heated, bitter debates , family members. so how debates, family members. so how do you get the better of things when a few drinks are being downed? the turkey is finished with and the family turn their attention to rueing about politics. i'm thrilled to be joined three political legends all friends of the show generously , giving up their time generously, giving up their time to join us this christmas is the former conservative cabinet edwina currie and the author and commentator christine and her husband , ukip leader neil husband, ukip leader neil hamilton . good evening everyone . hel hamilton. good evening everyone. hel hello. look at that. edwina has got some very there. right. unless that's your that you wear around the ear. i'm not sure. it's got two fingers. yes. you've done the fingers as well neil. you've got a wonderful bow
9:21 pm
tie, an excellent sitting there. nice to see you guys . now tie, an excellent sitting there. nice to see you guys. now i'm going to ask first of all, edwina does on of want to be left out? i've got a christmas secret. you know what? i'm so sorry. i couldn't see. it's that far away and i need to upgrade my prescription. that's a wonderful enough. forgive me that what beautiful christmas wonderful enough. forgive me that thatt beautiful christmas wonderful enough. forgive me that that everybody christmas wonderful enough. forgive me that that everybody come mas wonderful enough. forgive me that that everybody come attired tree that everybody come attired correctly . now we're going to correctly. now we're going to start with christina as the edwina we're going to because you are paula but tree background what i was hoping was that could because i think that kind of gives you an unfair advantage because well to advantage because you're well to having . well what having these debates. well what you have to do if around the table is you listen , listen, you table is you listen, listen, you wait until somebody says something really kind of dumb and then you come back at them. i mean, one of the best ripostes to lady asha, who was the first woman member of parliament, take her seat and winston churchill was asha table and had been
9:22 pm
imbibing a little too well. i don't know whether it was or not. and she leaned the table. she said to him, winston , you're she said to him, winston, you're drunk. and you said , well, yes, drunk. and you said, well, yes, madam demos and i probably am. you ugly and i shall be sober. i think that's one of the best putdowns ever as great. you know, i do that every year with my mum and she loves it. she thinks it's hilarious. what about you, neil? do you have any debates in your in your past ? debates in your in your past? well, but in our household, of course, we don't have debates i would never dare because your husband's places in the wrong and christine is always right so i know my place that's it so as i know my place that's it so as i write christine though do you think that neil would be a good debater if he was allowed to speak. i do know the idea seriously . the idea of i by the seriously. the idea of i by the way, i can see my take so a little bit peek already but christmas cheer the that anybody would talk politics around the christmas table. i find it
9:23 pm
strong marie. i mean we just wouldn't think of it. we've got they've actually just arrived so they're sorting themselves right. we've got three young children, and two. children, seven, five and two. that just won't be any politics. and , we're a divided family and also, we're a divided family in terms of brexit, so we don't mention the b word, we really don't. and we just don't talk politics. so nothing like that. we might argue over who has the last pig in a blanket and things like that, but certainly not everybody at christmas is not the time for politics. it's not, i know, but know like the royal family i will have arguments with that guy already. well, i don't know. some people can't help themselves, certainly about those issues that are slightly toxic, that they obsess about. i mean, do we know do you have any tips ? well, i should say always tips? well, i should say always a little self—deprecating . i a little self—deprecating. i mean, for example, i might respond in a slightly devouring way better . no, no, respond in a slightly devouring way better. no, no, no. i don't tell people called jokes. i've got to work with far too many of them . and that usually kind of
9:24 pm
them. and that usually kind of deflects whatever it is somebody is trying to have a go at me one way or another but, you is trying to have a go at me one way or another but , you know, way or another but, you know, sometimes people can be too modest. you know, the one them winston churchill , a batley, his winston churchill, a batley, his deputy in the coalition the wartime coalition that he was a modest man who had much to be modest man who had much to be modest about and at got buckets of many, many years later by creating a little, little ditty and. i rather i rather like this. and you said if you thought he was ever a stout, many thought themselves smarter. but he ended pm c h0m no. and the night of the after and you fill it up. you said in a kind of show there after that, sometimes just being a little self—deprecating will win the argument when everybody is arguing and they turn to you say what you're saying. good, right. and i say, oh, i think you're also very, very clever . and also very, very clever. and that's the way i think the job.
9:25 pm
yes. what people have got silly hats on and there's party and confetti and baldness and goodness knows what all over the table and it's looking like some sort of tea party the idea that anybody can say anything serious and anyway people are too keen to get the rest of the presents that they haven't opened before whenever have your meal so now just say if i've got this right christie i've got one. is that your tip to basically get everyone wasted and bribe them . everyone wasted and bribe them. now? yes, that's i'm talking abouti now? yes, that's i'm talking about i said, are you completely twisted. what i said don't get the waste it. get them with a silly hat on. if they want to get wasted that's fine. well, i'm in control of the food. so if there's any political controversy, just say right controversy, i'll just say right now putting my ties and i'm in charge of the drink. so i. fine. just keeping the glasses topped up tends eventually to end the argument because everybody falls over. argument because everybody falls over . you know that neil beat me
9:26 pm
over. you know that neil beat me once on weakest link. neil bent beat me by one point on weakest link. do you remember, neil? so i should for his intellect . i should for his intellect. i think i know who i very competent. i'm sure that intellect the weakest has much to do with intellect . but i'm to do with intellect. but i'm still finding that if you just agree with people and then do the opposite afterwards, that's probably the best way to get on in life. well you so much, all of you. i'm starting to suspect you're all actually the same house and you've sat in different rooms as i write . different rooms as i write. okay, very good. well, look, guys ' okay, very good. well, look, guys , a lovely christmas. thank guys, a lovely christmas. thank you so much joining us. continue with the now happy birthday to you, josh . thank you very much, you, josh. thank you very much, christmas. thank thank you. brilliant well, let's get our panelin brilliant well, let's get our panel in on this one. what do you think, guys you do some arguing during the breaks. what do you what do? you guys do what
9:27 pm
we really should say. you got me ready for the all because it's all. well and good i think be ready for the argument but you don't know when the argument is coming that's the problem because they'd be like oh yeah the turkey did it because last year burn it. sorry, what so year you burn it. sorry, what so well just sort dig well so much. just sort of dig and way cook or about oh and the way you cook or about oh might like say about politics whatever. so i think you've got to happy yet ready to go into happy but yet ready so underlying there's this so it's underlying there's this two extremes that you have to do i do and say let's not discuss politics. my day job. i thought talk about it. it still comes up. i every year you do that or you make your notes beforehand and you have your free points. hey, you researched them to death. talk about those death. you only talk about those three points and whatever questions i ask you, you go back to one your free points. to one of your free points. that's you strong. yeah. that's how you strong. yeah. what rebecca? you what about you, rebecca? you ever christmas or ever argue during christmas or do let it no, do you just let it go? no, i can't be bothered. i argue all day long, every and you day long, every day. and you know, this is literal know, this is a literal profession , argue for the sake profession, argue for the sake of it and call a job. no forgetting , that christmas.
9:28 pm
forgetting, that christmas. let's chill out for a minute so your can't be pushed at your buttons can't be pushed at christmas christmas christmas on christmas day. someone just get under the skin family's for that's what they're great at. yeah we end up fighting about silly like people cheer board . no, i'm not. i'm cheer board. no, i'm not. i'm not doing board games i'm not doing it. i'm too competitive for that . it's not worth the for that. it's not worth the grief . see, for that. it's not worth the grief. see, i'm for that. it's not worth the grief . see, i'm not the grief. see, i'm not the competitive one. my wife a competitive one. my wife a competitive one. my wife a competitive one. so i control myself. my wife always . but i myself. my wife always. but i want to say one more time research points because the other way to win the argument of course, is to overwhelm opponent with detail. if you keep writing more and more and, more and more stats, your opponents to think maybe they do know what they're about they start to will, about and they start to will, you know, once you see them wilt, then really it. i've wilt, then really leave it. i've got vision . you now going home got a vision. you now going home this show and writing little facts down in the sort of fly in the christmas hat so you can sort of bring it down a little peek, get some statistics put it back up on your head again , plug back up on your head again, plug some in the crackers around the
9:29 pm
table. so as you pull it out, it's a little stop there. he's like a high a strategic right. well, coming up after the break, singer songwriter waissel will be perform christmas be here to perform christmas song. co wrote with a four song. she co wrote with a four year old son. and we'll see you in a few minutes.
9:30 pm
9:31 pm
9:32 pm

9:33 pm

9:38 pm
that are overseas . and i said it that are overseas. and i said it makes me sad and my son said well, no if you just use your and you believe in the magic, then then they can be here with you too . and that's what sparked you too. and that's what sparked the and so to pick you know, and anybody else that is feeling little down right now you know reconnect with that magic just close your eyes and you'll be able to be with everybody . your able to be with everybody. your mind . they'll be there. and mind. they'll be there. and that's the beauty of it all. go and zoom or go on zoom. as long as there's a little hair. absolutely. yeah. or go on for sure. but i'm just a bit like, wow i've not perform in. oh, you're saying it's decade. wow and thank goodness for ptsd therapy . if it weren't for that therapy. if it weren't for that i don't think i could have ever have found the strength or courage to do that either. it's
9:39 pm
taken a lot of mental health matters and important to reach out and again at this time of year to it , to have that hand to year to it, to have that hand to hold. thanks for. feeling safe enough to do it on our show? oh, yeah. no, absolutely i mean, like you just said, now it's a family here i am grateful have been on a few panels and my is he's out. yeah and out back there with my parents. yeah. for and this is what's so special about this time of year and people close down for the holidays from work and it's our downtime to add some important just to switch off and allow yourself to switch off and take that break you know but yeah i mean may this moment be an inspiration to anyone that feels like they can't get over a hurdle of theirs. if you . so hurdle of theirs. if you. so they allow yourself put in that
9:40 pm
work work to and from a mental standpoint like i did, then you can absolutely overcome anything . is your life absolute live? it may not be your new year's result version two or 100. and are you and your family celebrating christmas? we are getting together tomorrow . it's getting together tomorrow. it's my mom's turn to make the christmas . that's the good side. christmas. that's the good side. i was given the task of the bread for the table and i think that they were try . and do me a that they were try. and do me a favour because i had some heart issues and i don't know if you guys can see my stick marks, but to wear hold to monitor. however i think they just thought, oh, they'll be doing me a favour. and i go to the supermarket and get some bread, but i'm such an overachiever, i'm like, no, i go to supermarket by ingredients, bake bread, and now got bake the bread, and now i've got like, don't know, five, six like, i don't know, five, six loaves of this olive bread to bnng loaves of this olive bread to bring the christmas table bring it to the christmas table tomorrow. that's what it's tomorrow. but that's what it's about, mucking in and being creative . should said creative. i should have said just to bring the and there
9:41 pm
just to bring the and then there was nothing unless you could. what i to do? like what am i going to do? like crush grapes . yeah, you crush the grapes. yeah, you know, me about the know, the. so tell me about the song a little bit more. how long did to actually write it did it take to actually write it then. wow very long at all. i wish i had my phone on me because i'd be able play the because i'd be able to play the voice but like i said in voice memos but like i said in the drive to school is , my son the drive to school is, my son and 1's magical moments and whether it's when me and children just scream and argue and we all have to what's when we do the spelling tests and no not a very good teacher as lockdown you know well we do music history class so we'll do like i don't know i'll pick like five of my favourite bands example one week and we'll be listening to them and say, okay, well who do you like and what do you like about it? and then the next it will be, you know , old next it will be, you know, old school singer songwriters, everybody that i'm a big fan of, etta james. so anything to spark imagination and creativity and openness to. all genres and even hardcore nineties hip hop class.
9:42 pm
what i'm oh when i play like in the car with kids and i have to just shout over very but i mean no fine that i have a different on on i'm sure it will sounds quite controversial but the they're going to hear swear words but it's how i feel like when to use them and when not to and what means. but yes, i understand. like does their job understand. like does theirjob that. yeah i pulled into that parking lot one too many times within blaring out paris being like what am they doing? i'm like, it's fine as metallica is playing . but yes , we started playing. but yes, we started having that conversation and for those that know i am a classically trained , i started classically trained, i started writing songs when i was 14 years old. i play the guitar and it was not long ago i found the courage to , through ptsd therapy courage to, through ptsd therapy , to get a piano for my home again because it's been such long time and my son and had
9:43 pm
that conversation and i just started tapping the steering will, not driving . i was very will, not driving. i was very safe. we're both strapped in. it's okay. and we were just making a song up as we along. and i started to cry and i was thinking, why am i crying? this is? because if all transpired, nancy, because it's just myself and my son and i'm a mom and. i always get so afraid , especially always get so afraid, especially with my health issues right now. what what would happen ? what what what would happen? what what would he have ? and i, what would he have? and i, i just got so overwhelmed emotionally it because hanging up the pictures just like we used to do because every year my son and i will hang up the pictures us and santa from the he's only four says been like a few years but it got me really emotional and i was looking at old pictures of you know old family and the way that my parents every year we used to
9:44 pm
have i never forget one year my mom took my sister and i to sell for two. i think it was and there was a vhs video of a quarter of my mom's watching. you have to the tape and i'll post it but it's about those memories and i just i couldn't finish the song without bawling my eyes out and thinking about love ones. and then people that are alone wanting to my son is very special. he's got a big heart and trying to take that magic and put that into a song so everybody else could feel it feel it very healing . yeah. so. feel it very healing. yeah. so. and then you play the piano that's all i was thinking was that's all i was thinking was that least you get to use your art to , help with your emotions art to, help with your emotions to express yourself and it really was a beautiful song. thank you so and my kids are slightly traumatised from to hamleys yesterday. oh my . so hamleys yesterday. oh my. so that will not be a special and i'm glad that there's no videotape . you ever do like
9:45 pm
videotape. you ever do like shows together like over christmas? no, i don't think that they want to be seen with me in public. anyway. thank you so much, casey that where do you think is coming after the think is coming up after the break, going to be break, i'm going to be discussing some festive stories with my wonderful panel, including charges including the woman who charges her dinner her family for christmas dinner , parents terrify their , the parents who terrify their kids by dressing as the kids by dressing up as the ganh kids by dressing up as the grinch stealing all the grinch and stealing all the presents. see you .
9:46 pm
9:47 pm
9:48 pm
in three. welcome back. it's time for my panel and i to delve into some of the festive stories which have been making headlines this week. let's start with this one, caroline duddridge from cardiff has been the news after it emerged that she has been charging a family for their christmas dinner. duddridge insists her five children pay the money into her account december the first. even the grandkids are factored in with
9:49 pm
over five charged a five while under fives get away wit h £2.50. under fives get away with £2.50. that sounds like a bargain. me? yeah. let's see what my panel this now. rebecca is it quantitatively? why did you ask this question ? is it cool to this question? is it cool to charge your kids for christmas dinner? oh listen . right. so i dinner? oh listen. right. so i get why she's coming from. she's a pension . she's struggling. a pension. she's struggling. she's got five kids. yeah right. so i get it. i see the argument for it personally. no but my parents do . so, i mean, so parents do. so, i mean, so tomorrow. yes have to come back from here. and then i have go and do christmas dinner for ten people and. those people who are sharing christmas dinner with me do much for me all year round do so much for me all year round that i just take it on the head and actually just have a lovely time altogether that's time altogether and that's coming grinch of the coming from the grinch of the short yeah completely short nights. yeah i completely disagree . think she's spotless, disagree. think she's spotless, really. she's elderly. money is tight . in fact, she shouldn't tight. in fact, she shouldn't even have to charge. they should offer all. i should. and if
9:50 pm
they're not going to offer, she should charge. and frankly should charge. and quite frankly 20 think was a top 20 quid, i think was a top culture dinner, culture for christmas dinner, a full adult dinner. that's a bargain and they should be ashamed of themselves. really they be inviting her. they should be inviting her. don't think? it's the don't you think? well, it's the other way around it. but the problem with money exchanging is then there's a question accountability. do you get your money you allowed money back? are you allowed to complain? management complain? is there a management is? can we go if she's is? who else can we go if she's not putting out the gifts or if she's taking r £2, 55 or more she's taking your £2, 55 or more for the adults and going to for the adults and just going to iceland. sorry, mum. iceland. i'm sorry, mum. not good no, want to see good enough. no, i want to see some scruff. it's my mum. the two things would happen. eight would and even it would be killer. and even if it wasn't that . oh, if you wasn't really that. oh, if you don't what you've got good don't like what you've got good no refunds. get out. feel me. look it should be happy to that but if my mum took 20 quid, i'll give her 40. the kid is a boy but the thing is, this is kind of a monetary equivalent of bnng of a monetary equivalent of bring a dish because . people bring a dish because. people would do bring a dish anyway, but more. for example, my sister's doing the cheese board . the sisters do
9:51 pm
. a lot of the sisters do desserts they'll bring their desserts and they'll bring their own drinks because don't drink own drinks because i don't drink anymore. things things like anymore. so things things like that. there's a story there. no, there always is. oh, there's a story everywhere in my life. but for reason, she's just for that reason, she's just doing that kind of hard cash version of it, saying, right, pay version of it, saying, right, pay the money and actually it's probably practical. i probably quite practical. i don't of been don't why it's kind of been blown this kind of romance blown up this kind of romance with you get with the stories that you get about people don't turn about kid people who don't turn up birthday up to their kid's birthday parties. they have to pay parties. they then have to pay some because they like, you some because they were like, you know, roughly that, oh, know, you get roughly that, oh, you didn't turn up. we this space call ins and can space for go call ins and can you a 20 quid please. you give us a 20 quid please. and you didn't show it's not and you didn't show so it's not quite of brutal is that quite kind of brutal is that this family look at this is family saying look at mine this will just chip and this is terribly embarrassed ish does i mean if you're does it. well i mean if you're going offer have christmas going to offer to have christmas dinner, then that's everything i said in the more polite ways to a dish and every do something so actually physically feels american just you know say hey is the cost of it is in which case a mom is probably a control freak that's what it like want
9:52 pm
anybody else my kids are watching this now if they grow up have children, up and have children, his grandchildren that if i been to take it unexpected payment and well would do oh cost me 15 well i would do oh cost me 15 quid ahead i'll be chuckling a 18 to 20 quid so no opportunity to make something on top because ultimately as a grandparent the grandkids are it back anyway, but they should they should contribute their mother should it be putting out all our money for their better contribution ? for their better contribution? they should i think they they should just i think they should volunteer get and should volunteer to get it. and i think my parents were doing i think if my parents were doing it, definitely be it, i would definitely be offering make a contribution offering to make a contribution because costly example. because it is a costly example. i like the fact that at i just like the fact that at christmas time, christian shaun here wants to come up a few ways, which i want here wants to come up a few ways, which i wan t £3 for pound ways, which i want £3 for pound the way are. so words the way you are. so words to live by house doesn't always wait right ? jesus had a jewish wait right? jesus had a jewish mother there. no way that she was charging that she was saying he was there. god, that was it. david crisis upshot. okay moving on.and david crisis upshot. okay moving on. and it seems those kids who had to pay for christmas dinner
9:53 pm
may have had an easy other kids have had to undergo the considerable trauma of having their parents stolen by their own disguise own parents who disguise themselves as grinch in the themselves as the grinch in the bargain . now that if you've seen bargain. now that if you've seen these videos, this has come a bit viral really people bit viral really and people been doing versions them doing different versions of them . this seems an . i mean, shaun, this seems an or is it giving you some ideas? see now? this is unacceptable. okay is somebody once said to me the job of a parent is to not to make your children not worry this is the complete opposite of that don't should that notion. i don't you should be terrorised life be terrorised children life tough is give them tough enough as it is give them a safe that is you and a safe space that is you and your daughter, i say. i mean, do your daughter, i say. i mean, do you think this is child abuse, rebecca? oh, have you seen the videos ? now kids are like videos? now the kids are like screaming like, really? yeah, they very . no, they listen, they are very. no, they listen, i'm a little bit when i first read it, i first saw it, you know what? kids today are a little bit too soft and they do need. oh, wow. okay yeah. unfortunate. no, because we really christmas . really do like christmas. really? really. it's not. no. because we've got these walk generations coming through that
9:54 pm
, you know, you blow them sideways. and that said all take offence. so it's kind of a little bit of that for me is that like okay it should be a joke but then actually when you see is pretty don't mess see is pretty brutal don't mess around with christmas parents let your kids enjoy it. otherwise i'll turn out like me. there is save for halloween. i have seen these videos and it's fine. halloween's because how do you ever everyone's dressing up this and if you haven't seen the videos you know the grinch will walk and the kids are sitting on the sofa. they're freaked out because don't know their because they don't know their dad and dad or uncle, whoever is, and just pointing the presence just pointing at the presence and starts to take it, it's horrible actually honestly because kids are because you can see the kids are properly out and, properly freaking out and, even like see other ones where like you see other ones where the parent is using an app to make look like they've got make them look like they've got a head they and a bears head and they and i remember the kid getting daddy don't daddy stuff because i know i'm and like more i'm not daddy and i'm like more like crossing a line. like it's crossing a line. i think it's the case, but i'm all for the little pranks and messing around and i did i did the tick tock time the kids the tick tock time on the kids when oh there's a fight
9:55 pm
when you say oh there's a fight at of the road i need at the end of the road i need you both to back me up. there's a six year old and a ten year old. they're all going to i'm to fight daddy. you've to fight the daddy. you've got to fight the daddy. you've got to fight yes, i did that fight the idea. yes, i did that right sounds creepy right back. that sounds creepy because, scary you because, you know, scary you want to see that reaction. are they going fight? are they going to a last to get you? has a very last thing about told me is you thing about this told me is you lost that feeling a bit lost that five feeling a bit heartwarming sarah and steve watkins spending their watkins are spending their christmas eve driving from south wales surrey. so a young man wales to surrey. so a young man can spend christmas with his mum. gerry looks set to be stranded to strikes, stranded due to rail strikes, but kindness of watkins, but to the kindness of watkins, he the day with his he spend the big day with his mother now. tommy yeah, that's a pretty good feel good story, right? is it feel story but i think that just shows how the welsh are you see one of their own, there are no man left behind. i is not going that behind. i is not going to that reason. they just you have reason. yeah they just you have to listen that shows welsh spirit, the dragon spirit. that's what it's all about. well, what do you think is not some christmas spirit going on there? restore there? things like this restore my mankind people
9:56 pm
my faith in mankind and people just do right thing. i mean, just do the right thing. i mean, you wouldn't, might do. you wouldn't, but i might do. who he they're doing. but who knows? he they're doing. but these are who sat and these are people who sat and thought could do. it be thought we could do. it won't be that big deal for this that big a deal for us. this might for that. but might be good for that. but i really appreciate people doing stuff now, do i even need to ask if would do this? would, yeah, if would do this? i would, yeah, hundred% i we used to hundred% yeah, i so we used to do we haven't done for do a thing we haven't done for a few years, but the girls actually to help a homeless shelters at christmas so we shelters at christmas time so we always do something to always used to do something to give back christmas because i think that that's the thing about yeah i would about christmas. so yeah i would actually do this. i think it's really good. when i read i was almost crying for goodness sake . i did. i think it's a . so no, i did. i think it's a lovely and i think that more people should stuff i people should do stuff that i do. think it's lovely. but do. i think it's lovely. but saying i if you read the saying that i if you read the update of that but the mum the mum now charged him for mum is now charged him for christmas. yeah . that's christmas. yeah yeah. that's always in the first hour. plenty to come after the specifically a second hour. for starters former spin doctor charlie rowley will be here . tell us if he thinks be here. tell us if he thinks the tories will be enjoying
9:57 pm
their christmas turkey or if they are christmas turkeys . so they are christmas turkeys. so usually .

10:04 pm
he thinks in the state of play of tories now. if you of the tories right now. if you still haven't purchased all your presents yet, don't panic. you still plenty of time ish . we'll still plenty of time ish. we'll have a retail expert on. tell us where you can still pick up some bargains. going to have a laugh at politicians lame christmas cards. and of course , more chat cards. and of course, more chat with my amazing panel of comedian and tv presenter sandow. rebecca the broadcaster and deputy leader , ukip and show and deputy leader, ukip and show bailey the former conservative candidate for mayor of . i think candidate for mayor of. i think it's being promoted this evening to prime minister. and don't forget we want to hear from you wonderful viewers, of course, gbviews@gb news.uk wonderful viewers, of course, gbviews@gbnews.uk how is your christmas eve going ? let's talk christmas eve going? let's talk politics now. and the tories enter the festive season in the unusual position , having stuck unusual position, having stuck with the same for a whole two months. however they are trailing in the polls and with strikes continuing and the economy struggling . can prime economy struggling. can prime minister rishi sunak enjoy the
10:05 pm
festive season? joining me now discuss this. i'm delighted to welcome the former special adviser to michael charlie rowley . good evening, charlie. rowley. good evening, charlie. hi. evening. so what do you think ? do you think it's going think? do you think it's going to be looking brighter , 2023 for to be looking brighter, 2023 for the tories or is it going to be more of the same? no, i think my vote can't get any worse. i think. i think it's the only way is up. the early days of this is the season goodwill to men as the season goodwill to men as the goes. and i think the the saying goes. and i think the pubuc the saying goes. and i think the public start to see in 2023 public will start to see in 2023 what a government under rishi sunak really like. he has sunak really looks like. he has come and the come into a job and the turbulent circumstances after this trust with the flatlining economy and obviously the debacle over after boris johnson left downing street. so rishi has come in in very, very difficult situation. and i think the public will, as i say, start to see what it's like to, be under his reign, as it were, as prime minister. and we will start to see the economy improve. we'll to see the cost of living be tackled. inflation
10:06 pm
coming down, and the government actually dealing with issues that the public really care about. well, we've had a lot of strikes, obviously, christmas for . what do you think in for many. what do you think in the new year , chances of the new year, chances of actually getting deals actually getting some deals signed well, a credit signed? well, i think a credit rishi sunak in the government because it shows just how tough and strong government going and strong this government going to not going be run to be. we're not going to be run by the union barons like mick lynch that has destroyed christmas for millions of families. it has to be said. people who to go home people who want to go home a time like and celebrate time like this and celebrate with family are with their friends family are only so because the only able to do so because the unions decided that they unions have decided that they want to cause as much misery at this particular when they this particular time when they could another if could it at another time. if they to, but they've they chose to, but they've chosen do over christmas. chosen to do it over christmas. i for the i do regret that for the millions, people and millions of families country. families across this country. but government but the government has shown strength resolve to strength in its resolve to tackle the economic crisis that we face, we can't just give away money where it in the coffers. everybody is feeling a bit of a pinch . just feeling the squeeze pinch. just feeling the squeeze is suffering. but as i say, once
10:07 pm
the new year comes into fruition, hopefully if the government delivers on its economic forecasts and targets, inflation start to come down. those cost of living pressures will be released . we'll start to will be released. we'll start to see that support and that growth in the economy is what we want to see. i guess that's what rishi sunak and the conservatives counting on because i'm guessing that people will remember. and if the idea is that not giving these pay rises to keep inflation low , if rises to keep inflation low, if it if it does increase, then this may have backfired. that's certainly a do you don't think there's going to be political blowback from not talking to the nurses? well, i think , you know, nurses? well, i think, you know, it is a it's a different situation, i think, with the medical those in the nhs . i medical those in the nhs. i think, you know, figures that out last week have demonstrated that you know even just a 1% pay increase to those that are already in the service could recruit 60,000 70,000 extra nurses. so it's not just about pay- nurses. so it's not just about pay. it's about the conditions of which the people who are on

the frontline are and do so much for all of in this country. it's about making sure they about making sure that they have, yes. pay, but also. have, yes. the pay, but also. right. conditions the right. working conditions in the most working most appropriate working conditions do conditions to allow them to do the job that they do. the fantastic job that they do. so that's about investing in new technology. about technology. it's about recruiting more people, more places, as pay of that places, as well as pay of that is a package and why the government has added pay review body to look at. it's agreed with that independent pay review body. it's the that happened. so a compensation of course the unions say that it's somewhat outmoded and, not fit for purpose, but this has been a long term problem. this isn't just happening this christmas. i mean, this massive deficiency of employees in the nhs , i mean, employees in the nhs, i mean, they are massively understaffed . surely what's going to change now ? i mean, we had this problem now? i mean, we had this problem a year had this problem a year ago. we had this problem two ago, three years ago. two years ago, three years ago. why it going to get why why is it going to get sorted now, do you think? well, i think the as i mentioned before, think health before, i think the health secretary was out on the
10:09 pm
airwaves last week talking about what to happen in the nhs. what needs to happen in the nhs. there be the new there needs to be the new technology that there technology that comes in there needs training places needs to be more training places available people take available for people to take up these it's about these in the nhs, it's about retaining people that might want to leave the nhs. we have a lot of and nurses came of doctors and nurses that came back to support the nhs during covid nhs demonstrated covid where the nhs demonstrated it most valuable asset it is the most valuable asset this country. it did so much to protect whether they were the people , the figure they're not people, the figure they're not getting, argue getting, they would argue they're and they're not paid well and accordingly that's why i think accordingly. that's why i think there is a bit more sympathy. accordingly. that's why i think thernursesit more sympathy. accordingly. that's why i think thernursesit m*thosenpathy. accordingly. that's why i think thernursesit m*those that hy. accordingly. that's why i think thernursesit m*those that are the nurses and those that are working in the ambulance service , those who were on strike last week, ultimately week, who have ultimately actually another actually called off another these workers and these ambulance workers and paramedics because they understand a point has been made, conversations do need to continue. i'm sure they will in the in the new year. but i think everybody understands the economic circumstances that we find in. yeah. i mean, what about labour i mean, is this their merry christmas for quite a long time i think are polls on massively shifting. no, i think
10:10 pm
that's to say. but i think that's to say. but i think that's because of a mess of the previous sort of artisan making than any ambition , any kind of than any ambition, any kind of who runs that labour making. i think labour in the new year also have to present policies for this country. they could be the next government. i don't think that's going to happen . think that's going to happen. and because i think the longer that you see rishi sunak as prime minister the more that you will see policies forward that the government are doing to tackle really important to tackle is really important to this country and the they this country and the more they see it this country and the more they seeit the this country and the more they see it the more they'll like see it in, the more they'll like him it will be a very, very him and it will be a very, very interesting 23, 20, 24. yeah, well that's the thing. it's a waiting, isn't it. we'll see if rishi steps out. we'll see if having consistency will help the tories . and what about yourself? tories. and what about yourself? what are you going to be getting up to over christmas? i'm getting very merry. getting very merry. okay. you're going to be getting merry getting very drunk. well, merry , we have we had our family christmas dinner sort of yesterday. oh i got to say, tomorrow we will just be with
10:11 pm
them. probably more friends. oh, yeah. ahead of game. let's yeah. ahead of the game. let's have quick chat with panel have a quick chat with my panel now. rebecca the tories on now. rebecca are the tories on the or plenty more the up or facing plenty more misery? what do you think so? they do . do do do you think the they do. do do do you think the tories actually are up or do think that really it's over for them . oh, it's completely over them. oh, it's completely over for them. what's a ludicrous question. i think you . yeah, i question. i think you. yeah, i mean, honestly , there is nothing mean, honestly, there is nothing left for them to give. it is absolutely a shambles after a shambles. and i think we are going to talk about it soon about obviously rishi going to this homeless shelter and the absolute farce that he made of that well. i've got nothing that as well. i've got nothing to about them. i haven't for to say about them. i haven't for a long time. but a very, very long time. but talking to deputy leader of talking to the deputy leader of ukip so i'm going to be ukip so i'm not going to be positive about the conservatives that speak to an actual conservative then sean and what do you and the conservatives i'll say this the longer rishi's prime minister and the more
10:12 pm
questions they ask. keir starmer is when you start to realise actually we have the labour party look at it's nonsense that have happened in scotland . have happened in scotland. agenda bill waste caseload on him though. yeah. but he said that he is suggesting he'll bnng that he is suggesting he'll bring it here . wheatland i bring it here. wheatland i think. is he off headline think. what is he off headline than the actual. well let's see see is he on this. he see where is he on this. he couldn't identify a woman earlier agree earlier in the year so agree with that ridiculous. with you. that was ridiculous. what's he said about what's he what's he said about the migrant said the migrant crisis? he said about of living. he about the cost of living. he said absolutely nothing. and what happen when what will happen is when an election have to election comes, people have to weigh up the troubled and let's be there has been trouble be clear there has been trouble into won't lie about that into trip i won't lie about that that be ridiculous trouble that be ridiculous the trouble tory against are tory party against are absolutely party and you absolutely labour party and you sat here now you thinking about ukip and other people just be very careful but by registering a protest vote you don't give us a protest vote you don't give us a labour government because a labour government now at this tough the end of tough time would be the end of this come break. so this nation come break. so people to people i by three faces probably nodding there. tell me what do you think ? so tell me what do you think? so these guys are proper
10:13 pm
politicians heads in that respect . so as you're respect. so as you're representing the average joes, very average probably even below average, some would say i'd the problem we've got is these are these are really testing times. these are really quite unique times. even my life. i'm 46 years old. it feels like there's more things kind of more cracks, more things kind of more cracks, more problems in life and the way in which this country's run than we've ever seen before . so than we've ever seen before. so will it be a smooth run for russia over christmas ? would it russia over christmas? would it be a smooth 20, 23? probably but there's a lot of mending needs to be done. and the average person let just wants to see people living and enjoying life. i see so many people living in fear or worries and i think i just, i want that to change when i think back to my childhood of the eighties and, people playing out in the streets and the laughter, people talking over the i feel like all the fences. i feel like all that's happened to? that's gone. what happened to? great all just great britain, we've all just become so brittle. it's become so, so brittle. it's great. brittle just i great. brittle now. it's just i want get that kind of that strength back . my parents in
10:14 pm
strength back. my parents got in a here for a reason. daddy, a boat here for a reason. daddy, can it back to what it can we get it back to what it was, please? lot. was, please? thanks a lot. cheers let's hear from our guest, charlie , you the last guest, charlie, you get the last word . do you think that rishi is word. do you think that rishi is able to do what says? able to do what tommy says? they're the great back in britain or the brits in. britain or the. what you saying, or the. what are you saying, tommy? brit, the brain, tommy? the brit, the brain, otto, he i think otto, whatever he said. i think i just rambling, be i was just rambling, to be honest. thanks. thanks honest. josh thanks. thanks for that mean, rishi is that 100. yes. i mean, rishi is a brilliant communicator. he's been the chancellor the exchequer this country. he exchequer of this country. he knows to manage the nation's knows how to manage the nation's finances, will a recovery finances, will see a recovery next year. but people will start to see things improve under. his leadership and i think it will be, as shaun said, it's the choice, labour and the sir keir starmer conservative party. starmer or conservative party. it be rishi sunak that will it will be rishi sunak that will be leading the country for a bit longer than people think . longer than people might think. okeydoke i'm not so sure , but okeydoke i'm not so sure, but thank you very much for coming in anyway and have a great christmas. christmas the right after the break. you still haven't got all your presents yet. expert will be joining us
10:15 pm
with a few and we'll see what my producers came up with when they were tasked with hunting down some .
10:16 pm
10:17 pm
10:18 pm
welcome back so day is mere hours away and i am sure there are some of you viewers who still a bit of shopping left to do , but where on earth are you do, but where on earth are you supposed to get decent gifts at this late hour ? joining me now this late hour? joining me now with a few ideas is retail expert and the author. with a few ideas is retail expert and the author . she with a few ideas is retail expert and the author. she made it happen , anna davidson. hello, it happen, anna davidson. hello, anna anna. hey, how you doing? i'm good . thank you. now, have i'm good. thank you. now, have you finished your christmas shopping ? i have. i was very shopping? i have. i was very organised this year. i did it all in bank holiday weekend. so i'm one of those annoying people that was really organised. well,
10:19 pm
you are an expert, but why do you are an expert, but why do you think people do leave shopping? so last minute . shopping? so last minute. i think probably this year particular people are like already a little bit about spending. so it's kind of a little bit a little bit last minute for maybe for that reason. and i think the mail's a little bit last minute that . my little bit last minute that. my dad was running around on christmas eve, but everyone stay trying to find things for everybody. so i thought you meaning the royal mail as opposed to mails men know you mean men x chromosomes so you actually have of royal mail as well as down the way a lot of the other logistics which has been a lot of pressure especially for online retailers . you know it's , been a bit of . you know it's, been a bit of a nightmare i think this quarter. so for anybody whose packages haven't arrived yet , do you have haven't arrived yet, do you have any recommendations for a last minute? i mean, very last minute christmas ? well, it is
10:20 pm
christmas? well, it is a challenge because we are also on a bank holiday weekend. so very rare that we have christmas on sunday. and so most schools are closed tomorrow . and then, of closed tomorrow. and then, of course, we've got the holiday monday and there's a lot of retailers such h&m and places like that that are actually closing on monday. i think there's it's next. there's waitrose this august. it's still going to be open for the holiday boxing day bargains. so it was expected. there are a lot retailers this year that are actually planning to close on boxing day, which a bit of a shame for us. they're looking for bargains. so i notice that boots were having a 50% sale earlier on today. boots were having a 50% sale earlier on today . so if you're earlier on today. so if you're if you like shopping at boots and next also another one and zara as well. i love my clothes so zara started their sale earlier christmas eve because we want a brand weekend. so i think
10:21 pm
you're going to be cutting it fine. if guys i know i'm that's a little bit sexist but for women maybe let's say even ask if you have left it's last minute. you've probably only gone outside or you're going to have to get yourself to down your expressive markets like and maybe tesco you'll find this and get out there or you could even go to dover. i swear. or i'm going to ask , but you're going going to ask, but you're going to have to find a service because it's very rare that we have a year like this, we to buy houday have a year like this, we to buy holiday and you could also go to a local hotel and maybe a wine spending time at shall we go spa vouchers that you could go out but you can ebay you know this you've literally probably got an hour as far to go find your present do not tell our audience to turn off the telly and go and buy some presents. need to do waiting for the of anything good in the petrol station that you
10:22 pm
can recommend they've they've got everything they batteries . got everything they batteries. yeah well exactly go to the service station i they're open from 8 to 4 tomorrow and all the service stations we tried to start the whole stations that way but actually you've got to be a maths and some of them also their customers, starbucks they also do little gifts . you have also do little gifts. you have actually got a few little opfions actually got a few little options if you kind of get creative . i think you've got to creative. i think you've got to be creative to do this and i give out because i think is also a very idea. putting someone to 50 quid amazon voucher or something . also, you could do , something. also, you could do, but if anyone does this to me , but if anyone does this to me, i'm going to go insane where you donate some money in their name . surely that doesn't count as a christmas present . well, i'll christmas present. well, i'll leave that one to although there are you . give me an other idea. are you. give me an other idea. there are a lot of online providers , right. such as providers, right. such as amazon, playstation . so you can
10:23 pm
amazon, playstation. so you can actually text out, chat to someone directly . you still have someone directly. you still have time to actually show that you care. and i think that's the point of the you've got to be kind of a creative this last one. i remember that a lot of places closed tomorrow and also on monday as you can save on wrapping paper, just cinema at next. yeah, exactly. exactly it's an all accounts isn't that that. oh, absolutely. i mean , that. oh, absolutely. i mean, did you manage to get any deals yourself this year did you utilise that 50% of boots to get that glowing skin you don't like because boots with the boots companies all week and i actually i'm a brand myself so i do a lot of online each once or twice speciality and knowing that i think around about 30, 35% of people have been not in offline stores this year. but because of the pace of problems that they've had in the last
10:24 pm
month or so, actually a lot more people have been getting out and getting install . i people have been getting out and getting install. i think people have been getting out and getting install . i think the getting install. i think the last few weeks , the increase in last few weeks, the increase in in offline stores, which is great. so that's fascinating. actually, i hadn't considered the impact on of the real strike the impact on of the real strike the post rates at so that's good for shops i guess . yeah for shops i guess. yeah absolutely i have very good and i mean , is this going to be a i mean, is this going to be a regular thing starting the sales before christmas boxing day sales? i mean it feels like the shops the moment a never sale i think next we've always done this next of started there that's sale on christmas day i think a lot of the other retail has a copy now and to the following say such as boots and i saw we doing at and as well having some discounts so they're scarves that were half price so a lot of people a lot of that retailers are bringing the
10:25 pm
earlier and amazon have always the opportunity of discounts . the opportunity of discounts. well you call opportunity i call it empty my bank balance anyway thank you so much to . retail thank you so much to. retail expert anna davidson have a christmas and thank you so much for joining us this evening. yeah you for having me. have a great christmas. you too. merry christmas . okay, let's get christmas. okay, let's get a real world example going of last minute christmas shopping and i'm going to see what my panel think of these gifts that the production team went out and got. sophia and rebecca, they were out today hunting for bargains. there they are. they're they're looking very have little in what they got. have a little in what they got. let's see how they got right let's see how they got on right panel let's go for the first thing here . this is a dog vader thing here. this is a dog vader soap. thing here. this is a dog vader soap . this is from lush i guess soap. this is from lush i guess that's good for this sort of biggy. this this is sort of a two pronged present here because . i guess it's good for someone
10:26 pm
who likes a bit of science fiction, and it's likely that they smell . well, i was , i was they smell. well, i was, i was about to say how much i like the of a massive star wars fan. i've read about 50 of the novels. but now you've just told me i smell horrible . but i think that's horrible. but i think that's a great present. it's the kind of nonsense kids give to that to keep quiet. well, that's keep them quiet. well, that's it. the production went it. so the production team went out station, so this out the train station, so this staff lush and smells as and i was just saying boots this is the kind of stuff that you can get that i'm not sure about this one rose rebecca this might the rubbish is the present i've seen a cookie cutter . i rubbish is the present i've seen a cookie cutter. i don't rubbish is the present i've seen a cookie cutter . i don't know if a cookie cutter. i don't know if someone gave me that. how would you feel about this this is probably make you feel like you'd have to actually make some cookies. that's not a present is. it it would be a no for me this is a, you know, this is not christmas this is when christmas eve. this is when everyone's biscuits everyone's their biscuits because making because you're making your biscuits santa. so not to do biscuits for santa. so not to do that so this is that anyone today so this is a great present party just going to come light you give it to come to light if you give it to come to light if you give it to tomorrow. well that's it.
10:27 pm
maybe that's how santa gets around not on the tube at the moment of course. now moment though. of course. now these surely this is the these are for surely this is the best gb news gloves in existence . this is i think where was this from? is this be dismissed as well? no, i don't know where this. oh, it was from a souvenir shop. yeah. you know what? those shops always open to centre of town. you can some fingerless gloves. what about you? do you think might oh, think they might have one? oh, listen. won the listen. would have won the mayoral if these mayoral campaign if wore these gloves. nothing i more gloves. there's nothing i more than fingerless gloves . oh, than fingerless gloves. oh, gloves to keep your hands cold. the cold is probably had is always the tin but that was silly things they would got a tip on finger that a worst week of the world do not they do you use of a kid leg they useless. wow i've never heard you speak that about anything that passion about anything apart government apart from a labour government coming right now. coming into power right now. these are might have teeth these are might have two teeth for daughter . these are might have two teeth for daughter. we got a few for my daughter. we got a few little hairband things that no little hairband things that no little that anybody loves out little that anybody loves out little girls could be boys no judgement i don't feel saying that told me this my actually

10:37 pm
with the less wealthy members our society isn't he is an embarrassment . yes he is embarrassment. yes he is obviously he operates for the 1% when obviously there is the 99% to consider. and he even remotely think about them . that remotely think about them. that was atrocious i felt so awful for the man. he was a national television, for goodness sakes . television, for goodness sakes. yeah. she said to him, would you like get into finance ? i'm sure like get into finance? i'm sure he'd just like to get through the day, let alone go into finance on earth. are you talking about you of touch blah blah blah blah blah blah . sean, blah blah blah blah blah. sean, i want to hear you defended scott. he's got his mark, but i see the whole thing on your. go ahead. what i will say is this when you when you run for office have to deal with a wide range of people. i've been running for mayor of london. what are things that came across to be very quickly is easy for me because was and the common was londoner and the common touch of a cop. adversity comes easily. some people need easily. i think some people need practise they time and you practise they need time and you sometimes the conversation
10:38 pm
reflected , the only reflected, the only conversations i've been happy to have been happy with, i'm very fortunate i come from fortunate i was i come from a broader set of conversations, a very learn to have the conversation, the upper echelon and the normal people was who am it was a problem having , said it was a problem having, said all of that. i think we see these patterns is why he does these patterns is why he does the practise. although his serving thought me serving thought told me was pretty and know what pretty good. and you know what he good breakfast that i know he a good breakfast that i know i'm good good in the opponent because he'd put because i thought if he'd put the on a side plate it the house on a side plate it becomes tricky carry the becomes tricky to carry the drink. thinking, but he drink. he was thinking, but he just delightful. it's like he in the where all the bills are the same where all the bills are piling lives. this piling up in our lives. this time would breakfast time i would older breakfast was piling plate so i piling up on the plate so i think there was a like a deeper level he was operating on level that he was operating on and also by the this is what the way my stupid brain works josh and appreciate this you and i do appreciate this if you listen again and hear listen the clip again and hear him i used work with him say i used to work with finance and like like finance bright and like like really special ants like listen it's a it's a different clip. i you to work for the you need to work for the government press office yeah know about finance
10:39 pm
know he loves about finance because finance because i work with finance and i that a hole in your i think that is a hole in your mind go somewhere else see that it didn't up and online everybody's this everybody's jumped this clip yeah hand a little bit yeah the hand i do a little bit sorry for him he there he sorry for him he out there he was it was a photo and was i know it was a photo and all that but he was something all of that but he was something and a spokesman for me if, if you've got a pm right. if you if you've got a pm right. if you if you pick your pb to understand the something would be the operative body. operative be all of our body. you're talking a man who's you're talking about a man who's deaung you're talking about a man who's dealing of dealing with hundreds of billions our money. billions of pounds of our money. do to understand that. do want him to understand that. i that hope that he i wish that and hope that he will a bit more of will develop a bit more of a broader sort of lexicon speak to people. but he's expert teams are the expertise that this country needs but he doesn't care that he's not a man caring the homeless people and saving them. that's a man. do it. a possum . why did you feel sorry possum. why did you feel sorry for him? i'm intrigued. why? for? for rishi i just. yeah, it's like just seeing someone like anybody who would their handin like anybody who would their hand in the door or something like that. i just. it's just hand in the door or something like that. i just. it'sjust i like that. ijust. it's just i like that. ijust. it's just i like that. ijust. it's just i like that he's like a wounded animal. yeah, is painful.
10:40 pm
animal. yeah, it is painful. i think, like. i think a lot of politicians do. they think the little people do about politicians that all even though i don't think that any of that i think people are out there. yes ego becomes and various other factors any politician factors but think any politician goes create harm shall we goes out to create harm shall we say. yeah and some of the obvious examples out there. but i don't feel like he's necessary malicious intent. it's just whether he's you know, he's he's just got a really pr adviser, just got a really pr adviser, just like boris johnson did have a picture for goodness sakes. but don't sit there , talk to but don't sit there, talk to people. that's why it went wrong. i your point that maybe not public conversations if you are jaded about politics you do need to speak to people who you know it's not until like now i was the other way round so that to drag me around the city the city folk explain where all the billions come from. well, and i did it because it's an important part of helping of london, an important part of the pm, is understanding very understanding how the very poorest are suffering. you must understand that because you could get trapped in just moving
10:41 pm
around big billions of billions, but actually you're moving those billions the people at, billions to help the people at, the bottom end. and you the very bottom end. and you need understand so need to understand that. so rishi, had a just come and rishi, you had a just come and hang out at my local mcdonald's with me during the day we'll with me during the day and we'll have few conversations and have a few conversations and set. right . have a few conversations and set. right. time look set. you're right. time to look at sent out at some festive cards sent out this by the great the good. this year by the great the good. now, it's always tricky . set now, it's always tricky. you set a of yourself clothed , a picture of yourself clothed, unclothed, that mitigation unclothed, that that mitigation aside, we can probably all agree that former home secretary priti may have got this one wrong. let's take a look. boy so there we go. if you can see there, she's pretty. she's a fairy at the top . the tree dispensing the top. the tree dispensing delights such as a point based immigration system , national immigration system, national security and rwanda. left wingers will be queuing up to buy this one. i'm sure sean. will you on pretties christmas card list ? at the first time card list? at the first time i've seen the card i see she's getting that she's basically to
10:42 pm
remind people of what she did but you're right if the left are the guardian readers of this world would have been foaming at the mouth at that. but you know what? that's probably our intention we just think was. intention we just think it was. it yeah but chris, you it was. yeah but chris, you know, make people angry know, to make people angry surely yeah. it's surely it depends. yeah. it's you one thing i've you don't mind. one thing i've learned in is advertise learned in life is you advertise what want to say your what you want to say on your bobbles. think if you do bobbles. and i think if you do that, you're asking you're asking for trouble at christmas . it's is straight change. no, it's not exactly goodwill . all it's not exactly goodwill. all mankind is . it's an odd take. mankind is. it's an odd take. it's not because they come at you doing thinking that you are on the top of the tree and you've got these baubles of embarrassment underneath you. you've failed every single of those things. it's below. yeah. so earth are you, do you suppose we a politician not a laughing stock . are you doing it to stock. are you doing it to yourself? so you think that one's massively backfired then? well, i don't think i'm a fan. well, i don't think i'm a fan. we be. she has incredibly self deprecating sense of humour , but deprecating sense of humour, but i doubt it. i'm not in the
10:43 pm
position that you're in. stop it. well she got national secretary. yeah plus still it could be she's hoping to go on the next season of i'm a celebrity or something so we are calling cause let's have calling card cause let's have another christmas card deep dive this the first actually this time the first actually from king and this one from our new king and this one he's keeping it minimalist let's . take a look . now, rebecca, . take a look. now, rebecca, this has been carefully thought here. i mean, what do you think that tried to say says wishing you a very christmas and new yeah you a very christmas and new year. we've got a very simple photo you know wall i like about this rebecca is doesn't even say how it's from he's just oh yeah no i mean he'sjust he's he's no i mean he's just he's he's just putting out he's like , you just putting out he's like, you know who i am? yeah, yeah, i know who i am? yeah, yeah, i know who i am? yeah, yeah, i know who is. you know who we are. that's a that's power play, surely. no, i don't think he chose the picture because that's a good picture camilla. well a good picture of camilla. well in is not husband and he's in and is not husband and he's not looking at the camera it's like let me see you will always upload where looks upload pictures where she looks good asleep or good and i'm like half asleep or whatever. like lips like whatever. i like lips also like all of whereas. so that's a good
10:44 pm
picture of her, not, not a great one him, but she and one of him, but she has. and that tells that call tells me that tells me that call tells me she's running from well she's running the show from well i he finds a pen sign i hope that he finds a pen sign it now some of our gb news favourite names it would not the tonight show without them the sussexes . they've also released sussexes. they've also released their christmas card or should i say holiday season card. they all just become all just getting in the tune of the state. so joyful holiday season . that's joyful holiday season. that's a lovely photo i think they got cameras very handsome and pretty best wishes. i don't know . the best wishes. i don't know. the message is that i'm imagining it, of course, they're money on behalf of the foundation , this behalf of the foundation, this and that, blah, blah, blah , you and that, blah, blah, blah, you know. well, that's i know that's kind of a conflict. so write me. what do you think? i disagree . what do you think? i disagree. really? oh, really. i should say christmas should say. you think it should say should say is christmas season? it's not houday christmas season? it's not holiday all right. well, holiday season. all right. well, there's the there's a lot about the holidays. no. hold on, holidays. no, no, no. hold on, hold on. hold on what's very interesting about people of
10:45 pm
faith my is set up faith but what my is set up right eat diwali they wanted spoken way they're spoken about it that way they're not christmas they not afraid of christmas they don't yeah don't feel. yeah absolutely yeah because have because of christmas they have their we their celebration and we celebrate well. so that celebrate that as well. so that inclusiveness maybe, if they'd written what about like christmas, and and christmas, hanukkah and this and that, to be going that, that happens to be going around are not said i around the people are not said i home get their home nervous you get their message why what you message out why what you talk about a tradition of about is there a tradition of who and it's just who are and it's just like christmas. that's way. christmas. that's the first way. secondly read the secondly we couldn't read the words, the word say words, but if the word say anything about what they're doing as distinct lack of doing as a distinct lack of class, real story of class, the real story of christmas is to give without reward. oh yeah . so what i'm reward. mm oh yeah. so what i'm actually the first year this actually is the first year this cards ha because cards cause a hoo ha because it's first year that their it's the first year that their children featured. in children featured. so in previous had previous they've always had archie or lily back in in in the shots and this is this idea it's just what does that tell you about what's going right now about what's going on right now and messages they're and what messages they're putting i like putting out that i feel like that children probably enough they featured surely they don't even to put out a card. even need to put out a card. yeah you always have the right to keep their privacy, particularly rituals privacy.
10:46 pm
particularly rituals of privacy. yeah well, i respect that. absolutely time now for another break. when we get back, my hardworking panel will be revealing that great britain's and their union jackasses. see you .
10:47 pm
10:48 pm
10:49 pm
soon well, it's time to reveal today's greatest britain and. you didn't jack us. let's see who? my panel of nominated rebecca. you have chosen. actor james murray, as your greatest britain. tell me more about. this very handsome man and why you've chosen him? he's not bad. looking easy. so i did bev turner show . i think it was turner show. i think it was choose the humble brag . i'm in choose the humble brag. i'm in that i'm in that phase of christmas where i don't know what day of the week it is. so i did the show with bev and he was on it and. so we met him in the green room afterwards with his daughter. he was also lovely and
10:50 pm
he was talking me about his charitable he was on charitable work. so he was on talking fishing completely talking about fishing completely unrelated and actually himself and sarah parish have and his wife sarah parish have raised 4 million raised over 4 million for children's critical care because they lost a child. he was obviously very young. so up raise 4 million is a phenomenal, phenomenal effort and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. so yes, absolutely . well, that so yes, absolutely. well, that is a very good choice. and you have chosen darren dowling. darren dowling . no, no, not as darren dowling. no, no, not as giving . well, he's a man. he's giving. well, he's a man. he's known as dasa to his mates. i think anyone who nicknames themselves with a couple of 2's in their joseph, you'd be just shorter . i'll in their joseph, you'd be just shorter. i'll be tarzan . anyone shorteh i'll be tarzan. anyone who does deserves a big shot. but also what he did was he he went to mcdonald's and ordered onune went to mcdonald's and ordered online and. you know, you can go minus outside ingredients. he might as well just everything and he ordered himself some air and he ordered himself some air and an empty big mac book box
10:51 pm
turned up and he was chuffed because his plan had worked. and what this on a deeper level is the kind of crazy consumer time that we live in that you can actually order ai r £8 it cost actually order air £8 it cost him from mcdonald's. actually order air £8 it cost him from mcdonald's . and this is him from mcdonald's. and this is and actually is a message about it actually shouldn't be about what can order online it what you can order online it should be what's what's in should be about what's what's in the what's on for the box, not what's going on for some yeah how very some about. yeah how very spiritual. clever right spiritual. very clever right now showing very heartfelt showing up with a very heartfelt choice. tell us more about this minds. these people difficulty over spirit , over christmas spirit, loneliness, illness , poor you loneliness, illness, poor you know just have no money. have felt depressed , forlorn. i hope felt depressed, forlorn. i hope the christmas message brings you one of hope. christmas meant to be about everything other than gifts actually supposed to be about people . and i would just about people. and i would just hope you could this as hope that you could this time as a as a way to maybe move forward slightly your own special way. it doesn't mean the whole world's change. all of a world's to change. all of a sudden, hollywood star, sudden, you, a hollywood star, but you and maybe but how could you and maybe people you who you don't people around you who you don't yet forward could be yet know move forward could be the of christmas. the message of christmas. hope well, that think well, after hearing that think it's to be does a job.
10:52 pm
it's going to be does a job. yeah all right it's going to be the people facing difficulties of course especially anybody watching gb the last few watching gb news the last few days. you all the best, days. wish you all the best, particularly in scotland. who has and thank you very much, has got and thank you very much, sandra, your card. sandra, for your christmas card. very sweet . let's say to my very sweet. let's say to my panel of nominated the union jack rebecca you have gone jack us rebecca you have gone for michelle mona what does she do to anybody ? well, in my do to anybody? well, in my personal opinion , it's one of personal opinion, it's one of the reasons why the house of lords needs abolishing another reason that i personally feel that her actions a criminal and that her actions a criminal and that she needs to be facing criminal rather than civil ones because of the absolute farce , because of the absolute farce, how much money that she has managed to make through the vip entry system of the covid. so yes, atrocious person who i think belongs in jail, but it's my personal opinion. yes, that way we can't be sued . tony, you way we can't be sued. tony, you have gone for the same guy, darren downey, again on the remix. i did. i did. because
10:53 pm
because i was split with this cat. i thought, guys, is he genius or is he a jackass? and i realise he's both because obviously he's broken the system, he's that he's made his message, also message, but he's also media because he's just waste d £8. and because he's just wasted £8. and in these tough times and everyone's penny, everyone's counting, penny, this man's waste for man's got money to waste for a silly prank. so people silly little prank. so people like talk it on very like me talk about it on very intelligent show on a date. intelligent tv show on a date. oh, i hate to tell you this story, but he actually stole the idea from a texas, he idea from a guy in texas, so he was well, was a plagiarist. well, copyright issued a copyright. we the copyright is our right to copy technology. sean, you went for angry shoppers. now we just to have this photo on file of the time that my fake i.d. didn't work so they're like you can't be 18. so there we go. tell us about this angry. shoppers, rude shoppers. look at these people who are at work trying to make our christmas work. the you could do is treat them civilly know if you go out to shops tomorrow or even do that the shops today those people been at home people could have been at home with instead with their family but instead ready cross and they're out
10:54 pm
ready to cross and they're out big. you said the least you could treated with some could do treated with some dignity, one of big dignity, because one of the big challenges country challenges for this country going do we going forward is how do we recover sense of mission. recover our sense of mission. and the first just be and the first part is just be polite other, just be polite each other, just be pleasant i kind of disagree pleasant. i kind of disagree with that anyway people who rude to waiters, to anybody and shops i think this list is not great andifs i think this list is not great and it's disgusting behaviour really. and i just, it's just the unnecessary ness of it. why create and you get larger portions when you're nice you know, like if you just, if you just wink to the treated a shop baton to whatever you look for she might help you actually ordering the good not empty i'm going to go with michel monet partly for having a name which i am never sure if i'm pronouncing correctly . i don't think she's correctly. i don't think she's going to bother though to this award she's been busy award as she's been too busy counting millions for now counting her millions for now thatis counting her millions for now that is it then thank you so much for in tonight and a massive thanks to my brilliant panel for giving up their time
10:55 pm
