5:05 am
beloved praise for nation as kate sparkles and finally, our friends the daily star sketch of the dog. not so yappy christmas as fido sets fire to house and those the front pages . let's those the front pages. let's kick off things with the main story that's dominated most the newspapers. so gina the royal family christmas now what did you think of king charles's speech. oh, my god . so it was speech. oh, my god. so it was the first time in eight years that the whole family look like the king is going to make a speech. we all went on the tv, what people just took into sophia, our producer. the thing that immigrants really love , that immigrants really love, royal family on the whole. and so that is really because of the queen. so really queen. and so we were really anxious to see what the king's going be like . and he didn't going to be like. and he didn't disappoint. have to say that disappoint. i have to say that i thought it was heartfelt it was
5:06 am
really , really shows that really warm, really shows that he cares. and it kind of shows, i guess, an indication of the kind of king that he wants to be. and of course, a lot of things he probably swayed things that he probably swayed from might have from what his mother might have done. nice to do it done. and quite nice to do it where, you know, his and dad are kind of buried st george's kind of buried in st george's down there . and, and down there. and, you know, and we were touched by it. we were really touched by it. i thought thought was a great thought i thought it was a great speech.i thought i thought it was a great speech. i thought he came across really well. and i was pleasantly because pleasantly surprise because i thought after the queen, we couldn't replace her. couldn't really replace her. he's to be a different he's going to be a different kind not the queen. kind of king he's not the queen. so mean, paul, there's a lot of pressure here. there was, wasn't there? i mean, the longest apprenticeship ever, i think i agree with everything agree completely with everything that probably that sajida said. he's probably writing was like writing this when he was like a ten fine live of my speech. i think the queen, to be proud. i think the queen, to be proud. i think it was i think it was lovely. smooth step into king charles where like i think you were alluding to, it could have been a step change. we weren't too sure what to expect. i think he trod line really well i like
5:07 am
the bit he did about public sector workers without mentioning strikes. i like mentioning the strikes. i like way mentioned the prince way that he mentioned the prince princess of wales without having to refer to any of the other stuff going on. and it just got it right for me. it's very traditional. i like the fact that he anchored in the tradition, the sort of anglo—saxon tradition and the tradition of christianity, that he is big supporter of. but it also includes as well. yeah, he was he didn't to be inclusive to other faiths. and i thought that's really important . and that's really important. and that's really important. and that showed like kind of there was a little bit of grandmother in that, you know, that in that, you know, i know that he'll probably build and continue . what's that thing that continue. what's that thing that the church of england. no, no, no. united no , the no. the united no, the commonwealth. the commonwealth. that's that's right. it's christmas, people . you know, christmas, people. you know, we've all been drinking from it. but yeah, i think. we've all been drinking from it. but yeah, i think . i think he he but yeah, i think. i think he he really he absolutely nailed it in terms if that if that's the
5:08 am
speech you're going to give as a comedian, if you towards the apollo that's his apollo gig and he smashed so many laughs i whether yeah that would have been you know a few cases in that come on king charles. the only thing that was more he's more of a he's more of a festival comedian the festival comedian than the nightclub circuit comedian, you know, it was there know, once a year. it was there was a narrative, wasn't that? there was a narrative, wasn't that there indeed. no that there was indeed. no i think genuinely think was think genuinely think it was brilliant. he did everything brilliant. he he did everything there was necessary for him to do . i think he there was necessary for him to do. i think he it didn't there was necessary for him to do . i think he it didn't seem to do. i think he it didn't seem to go on as as perhaps i think how the speech is going now. i could just be probably done with a good didn't like good speech. it didn't feel like it know wanting more. well leave them wanting more. well, well, well george . yes. all well done. king george. yes. all the came carrying the newspapers came carrying message and, oh, king of message of love and, oh, king of hearts yeah, that's hearts. yeah, i'd say that's pretty much. that's five star review. yeah. but the newspapers that i would to say because that i would like to say because we haven't got it anyway covered, i just to talk covered, i just want to talk about one second about prince george's. this. george's. oh yes. i like this. this reindeer don't have this reindeer don't we have a picture of. but i've got to
5:09 am
throw out respects. throw out some respects. i you've it but he's he draws you've seen it but he's he draws a good stag for a nine year old he's 82. oh we went away because a great artist your father didn't even you know helped you child along. my, my is a phenomenal artist and he a draw that would be the choice of i never got along with that she is a phenomenal artist for our right she's 13 now king george prince george is nine, isn't he? i thought it was great. i thought it was absolutely fantastic. picture of fantastic. i like the picture of a style to throw out the respect. there that's that's good. that's that. it was a good one. well, let's a one. right. well, let's take a look other paul. you'll look at some other paul. you'll have a look. yeah, have a look. the eye. yeah, we've got eye in front of we've got the eye in front of us.the we've got the eye in front of us. the nhs targets to be swept in a reform plan. first thing there's this actual news we the first time we've got some news in a while outrageous on christmas day as well. i mean and face it there does need to be some reform. i'll just i'll just read a the just read a couple the headlines. so this major review of service by former of health service by former labour minister patricia hewitt
5:10 am
will result in a radical changes eye understands things that eye understands the things that she's looking is she's looking introduce is a sweep away as the mirror that which of course would not actually about at the actually talking about at the moment sweep there is moment we're to sweep there is lots of sherry behind the scenes prompting this all this outrage actually taunting and the screaming whale well over time i mean it's not clear this looks to be very much a labour initiative. of course, labour aren't in power yet on imagine we all probably believe we're going to see them in power in the next year or two, but going to once interest it said to once interest me is it said that need to run the nhs like that we need to run the nhs like we the education system. well we do the education system. well i would that the education i would say that the education system not exactly the gold system is not exactly the gold standard of public standard in terms of public services. you know, i'm a big of teachers. i think, you know, it's a difficult but i would argue the education system if that's the next step up is a bit of a worry as a saying, i've put all my good wife why the competitive the education i don't have small children so you
5:11 am
probably cannot say whether it's a enough well out there i'm a good enough well out there i'm just going by what i do and they do have like 72 targets in all they to like get and that explains like things like making sure you've got like diabetes check—ups and making sure they're giving like statins. i didn't want statins and i got forced into having statins. you know, i feel now i was one of the 70 is the reason just make it is you just i mean didn't want to i didn't want to and i tried to not do it. and they said, oh, no no, there must be some other alternatives. you know, it gives you side effects, but an argument for there are reasons they were there. but of course, taking suddenly course, taking away suddenly there's meet there's targets actually meet more work that they can actually do. so they can. oh, no, no, i know, but the same time, there's less targets them to fail at which they are doing. i'm always tremendously at the moment. i'm always this that always of stories like this that just it away is, just sweeping it away is, not the thing there. there the thing to do there. there will be babies in that bathwater that, need to be retained. arbitrary box ticking from the nineties longer
5:12 am
nineties is no longer relevant now the 2020s. i'm sure. so now in the 2020s. i'm sure. so the things can change. but the things that can change. but it's just a big headline it's a it's just a big headline for the irony that isn't about the king's speech. well the king's speech. yeah well well yes. go start well done. them yes. go start digging some news over christmas. so gina that's and have a look at the guardian okay so i haven't got my readers because i left them outside. so i'm going have to try and go i'm going to have to try and go with what was basically check you the again you when you went to the again now you find that to well i now you can find that to well i do have to have a diabetes i every year which not i'm not every year which i'm not i'm not i'm to that actually i'm partial to that actually lopping for a whole day so lopping blind for a whole day so a of mental shifts with a lot of mental shifts with a third more stay at forward. third more stay at home forward. this really interesting this is really interesting so the shifted where the culture has shifted where it's like kind of it's always been like kind of the the mums kind the understood the mums are kind of home and can of staying at home and can i just i hate it hate hate, hate dads say that babysitting their own children. yeah well who really irks. yeah i'm something i just know you probably watch president company they won't but usually it's like you know fathers i won't go too much but yeah so starting to at home in the uk are up by a third since
5:13 am
the uk are up by a third since the pandemic. so presumably dunng the pandemic. so presumably during the pandemic people, you know, they weren't furloughed or they jobs and, they they lost their jobs and, they didn't employment. so it's didn't find employment. so it's risen like between july and september this year, 141,000 dads did not have a paid job and stayed at home, compared to 105,000 fathers during the same penod 105,000 fathers during the same period in 2019. so there's quite a significant rise now. mothers are working more and fathers increasing their childcare and housework which you think that's a good thing? i don't know. maybe a find many women how to do it properly so on christmas as well have a could you who's here was your message looking after the kids right she's going out for a drink there. yeah. yeah there's five of them. yeah. yeah there's five of them. yeah. yeah i mean, looking after family has always been one of the reasons that women have had to kind of like come out of the workforce. so these are going to change it also change the dynamics. but it also i wonder, because i found whose partners have at and taking partners have at home and taking care kids. and invariably care of kids. and invariably one of that comes up is,
5:14 am
of the issues that comes up is, you all feminists, all you know, all feminists, all about equality and stuff, but they feel like the men they feel like that. the men i don't know, see, because they don't know, see, because they don't have a career or or a purpose in other than looking after home and the women they tend to sort of lose respect. well, i have say , paul, i well, i have to say, paul, i mean, you know, covid, we were locked away. sony comics, we couldn't a couple couldn't work for a couple of days. me, my wife days. and i know me, my wife became the main breadwinner and i doing all the home i was doing all the home schooling and cooking and whatnot. you have similar whatnot. did you have a similar situation? was mean. situation? yeah, it was mean. i had other employment which had some other employment which kept fortunately, but kept me going fortunately, but very same. unable to do very much the same. unable to do any that we usually any of the work that we usually do, income would do, the income drops. i would i would question the use the would question the use of the word monumental it's i think it was one in nine which was 13% of all. it's a shift . it's not all. it's a shift. it's not a huge shift. however this is just representative of . the societal representative of. the societal changes that are going on this isn't i don't think this has happened just the happened just because the pandemic, i think we're pandemic, although i think we're seeing a step change because of the we've seen the pandemic, we've seen something over the last something change over the last 20 or 30 years where there's a lot pressure women
5:15 am
lot more pressure for women to work. i'm sure lots of them want to, but there is pressure for them to. there's pressure on lifestyle, own houses. lifestyle, want to own houses. they go holidays. they want to go on holidays. you've have dual incomes. you've got to have dual incomes. i know anyone i don't know anyone really single well great single income house well great for i can't imagine that for you and i can't imagine that they all on christmas. well here you here is the truth in the you go here is the truth in the pudding had to leave at pudding which i had to leave at home i had to get. do home because i had to get. do you see this though still i mean that's interesting from a woman's this woman's perspective is this something lot of i'm something you see a lot of i'm seeing some of it see it seeing some of it i see it middle in the middle middle circles in the middle classes, see it myself because but i to say that the but i have to say that the relationship in those those relationship in those in those marriages , i also find marriages, i also find interesting thing and you know these , aren't like south asian these, aren't like south asian women. what i'd expect that santorini south asian women i don't mean that but you know it is it's an interesting kind of development where although we want this equality , the women in want this equality, the women in these relationships aren't happy with the husbands doing the role that they do and then being the breadwinners because they almost lose respect for and i'm not
5:16 am
saying this is this is across the board i'm not succeeding in my relationship. you know, my friendships around me. so i don't that means that to be met, not you necessarily, but some people know. no, i love. people know. well, no, i love. i would just. well, it's interesting to on but interesting what to move on but i to say the thing that i wanted to say the thing that winds me up in this is all the films like daddy day—care or whatever. it's like when whatever. and it's like when they can't a nappy they men can't change a nappy and and that that's and all stuff and that that's what my not because that is what does my not because that is not that i have five kids and so you wouldn't hearing about my friends area every every friends in my area every every dad know hands on now and that dad i know hands on now and that might be this like north london thing . i don't think so i don't thing. i don't think so i don't think so even i feel like that there is a shift there maybe not to sort of stay at home dads in totality, but i definitely think that much more that men are much more hands when comes raising their when it comes to raising their kids. look, one more thing before we go to the break. that's very quick look that's a very, very quick look at star scare the dog at the star scare of the dog 0 scare of the dog. is all scare of the dog. this is all about labrador. i think it is about a labrador. i think it is about a labrador. i think it is a labrador is a labrador pictured. anyway, it's cool that unwittingly a
5:17 am
unwittingly turned on a hairdryer , you unwittingly. hairdryer, you say? unwittingly. well, i suspect because he was just the dog shaming to me. there is . no labradors are there is. no labradors are intelligent dogs, but don't think he went the well. she think he went into the well. she into bedroom, turned the into the bedroom, turned on the hairdresser me. hairdresser without leaving me. what interested what i'm interested by says a dog is believed have started what they thought was a human they would say allegedly have started fire. so don't know started a fire. so don't know about this dog shaming and making out and i think they would probably that we don't would probably that as we don't know the gender the dog other that's all from part one i had to get that in there and that's it for the front page as well. but us for part two where but join us for part two where we have accusations against the home a bizarre rant from home office a bizarre rant from the one only mr. and an the one and only mr. and an uplifting from president zelenskyy the co2 .
5:18 am
5:19 am
5:20 am
merry and welcome back to headuneis merry and welcome back to headline is with me josh howey on home turf joining tonight is the brilliant comedy duo of sir gina kushi and paul cox . there gina kushi and paul cox. there they are, waving away. oh oh, he's got the thumbs up. let's kick off with monday's guardian. and accusations against the home office poll . yes, the home office poll. yes, the home office poll. yes, the home office has been accused , office has been accused, breaking a promise made after the murder of sarah everard to a violence against women and girls to the same status home. sorry, king of promise . i'll give a king of promise. i'll give a little bit more context to this, because i do think it's important. police forces are yet to make a group of misogyny, misogynistic crimes such as rape, stalking , a major priority rape, stalking, a major priority because of the failure to issue government directive says. so this is this . this is about this is this. this is about changing the status of reporting of managing these crimes , of managing these crimes, essentially raising the
5:21 am
property. now i need to speak here as a father of a teenage girl, you know, as the house, as a husband of a woman and a woman. but, you know, it's to point out , you know, a mother point out, you know, a mother and because a human and a human and because a human and a human and you i totally understand this. i guess if there is no issue with it. but if i if i question anything, i hate the way that politics is brought into this. i think we should be able to say this is a human issue and that, you know, it's difficult to say because you don't want to say any particular group is weaker than another group, but perpetrators tend group, but the perpetrators tend to be one part of group, 98, to be one part of the group, 98, and tend be another and the victims tend be another is a male . so some 98% of sex is a male. so some 98% of sex offenders. yeah, a male . offenders. yeah, a male. exactly. a fact. oh, so it should be sorry. penis with a penis . well, exactly . let's just penis. well, exactly. let's just say pain. you just wanted to say just because you want to do it on christmas as well, you, you know christmas penis customers, as paul says, i mean is this playing politics or ? is it just
5:22 am
playing politics or? is it just that actually this needs to be called out. this government has rubbish now really really needs to be called out. we've had too many issues, too mistakes, too many issues, too mistakes, too many things on and. it's many things going on and. it's you keep putting women the back burner you know, we burner and like, you know, we make over half the make up over half the population. is half the population. this is not half the voting hump. so voting public over the hump. so coming to charity. can you do more. so the there's one of the it's probably was interesting admitting official contamination to forces tackle rape to how police forces tackle rape released in december has exposed persistent failings of the criminal justice system included including a failure to track repeat . why is that an issue and repeat. why is that an issue and then basically a victim blame victim shame and they botched investigate actions and this is what the report's found so we've got to do better in 2023. this is not acceptable . so i mean, is not acceptable. so i mean, paul was at 1.5, only 1.5% of rape cases, a now that is seems that's offensive. it's i mean , that's offensive. it's i mean, it's a terribly worrying statistic . it i don't know what statistic. it i don't know what bill that statistic but i imagine there's a fair amount of
5:23 am
nuance to that but i don't think that's important i think what's important is that that is what's that one in 102 in 100 women that one in 102 in 100 women that bring a rape accusation are are able to take that to justice. now, that's saying that everyone that accused of rape is a rapist. but you think a much larger amount of people would see justice than that 40% of rape victims dropped out last yeah rape victims dropped out last year. so that is really worrying how many of that of that percentage was because they didn't feel like they didn't feel that the system was going to them. so think the to work for them. so i think the labour right to. call this. labour is right to. call this. but i will say that labour maybe should also it's a bit rich from them when they don't seem to know what a woman is . them when they don't seem to know what a woman is. right. let's try harder . these days you let's try harder. these days you have they need to do some stuff themselves so it sells out. mondays independent now and some seriously concerning news from afghanistan aid oh so obviously seen the stories recently about women not being allowed to go to university. we all remember the images from last year. so this
5:24 am
story in the independent agency suspend work in afghanistan after taliban bans women . and so after taliban bans women. and so the pic now the aid agency things we simply can't work without a dedicated female staff from an aid groups have been suspended their operations in afghanistan after a decision by the country's taliban rules rulers to ban women from working at an international this is such at an international this is such a goal now last year i was meant to go after it we saw the horrible images with a female by staff to deliver safe in afghanistan and you couldn't go because i wasn't well enough. but charity did amazing work and went over and they let you were the only lifeline for the women that were out there that were helping charities helping and without charities that because obviously you need that, because obviously you need women and help these women to go in and help these women. know, in those places women. you know, in those places there even back then there was poverty even back then in early stages. you in those early stages. so you can imagine what's can know, imagine what's happening . and there happening now. and then there were killing because were women killing because rather than face having to go into the taliban and this is
5:25 am
this is the mess that of unfortunately when we withdrew our forces we've left there and no one's helping if aid agencies cannot go like these ngos, if they can't go , then who's going they can't go, then who's going to help these women and children? and they are in a really dire state and they're denying that there's been any protest there. and this so they at there been 11 and at which there have been 11 and yet there have been young yet that there have been young men commend you have men which i commend you have university students also walked out. yeah i mean i was hoping that could that that is a friend of mine who's who's a documentary maker. she's posted a saying, well, these a video of saying, well, these are that helping are the people that will helping the women in in afghanistan. and they getting beaten in the they were getting beaten in the street. and so it's same street. and so it's the same kind of situation we've in kind of situation we've got in iran there slight iran where there is a slight uprising but just uprising but they just overpowered . i just don't see overpowered. i just don't see how the women can out that how the women can out of that situation without external help. no.and situation without external help. no. and from the west. and that's why i've become by some of stories, because we of these stories, because we this is wrong. but we view it from our perspective, from the west, which i am very glad to say we value women very
5:26 am
differently , but that also fills differently, but that also fills prejudice . so for me to say that prejudice. so for me to say that because i'm i don't believe that every man the middle east values women did to me, i can tell you now, this is wrong. this is not right. what's happening afghanistan? what's happening? iran right. is not iran is not right. that is not islamic. is not this is islamic. that is not this is pure misogyny this is pure hatred of women to make sure that they because we can educate a woman, a woman can be stronger i mean, have sometimes wonder i mean, i have sometimes wonder if wasn't brought what if i wasn't brought here, what kind i would had kind of life i would have had and outspoken , fierce and a really outspoken, fierce woman. if i had gone there, woman. and if i had gone there, no, don't think i could. no, i don't think i could. i could not have shut my gob and, you know, there's loads of stories tell you, but the stories i can tell you, but the problem this afghanistan problem is this is afghanistan is is not what you be is not that is not what you be like there. and i did have the advantage of education for 20 years now we the reason say years now we the reason i say i'm conflicted is because of the reason said before about reason i said before about you know giving perspective know i'm giving my perspective from making a judgement from the west making a judgement it feel comfortable it doesn't feel comfortable me. however, start this however, we did start this right, so went in. then we've right, so we went in. then we've mixed everything know, mixed everything up. you know, the war in afghanistan has caused i know it
5:27 am
caused problem. now i know it wasn't the only this problem. this know, aeons. this is, you know, aeons. however did give women of however we did give the women of afghanis the liberty to be educated for some time , and they educated for some time, and they went back to where it was before the taliban. well yes. and it was to the benefit of their country. and now, as you said, sajida this is a massive home goal sajida this is a massive home goal. and it's not just men and not women and men, men themselves suffer. it's crazy. but that's ridiculous. ideology for now. this from monday's mirror and christmas rant at donald trump when christmas i speak about trump , i get like speak about trump, i get like crazy to trump's great. but at some point wake up surely. yeah this is this is not. i'll give you my view on this good bad and the ugly. let's just give some insight on the story of all donald trump has hit out at his political opponents, including mentally disabled in inverted commas. for those on radio rival us president joe biden in a rambling, festive message where he appears to claim to have

psychic powers now this this is something i genuinely enjoy about donald trump and that that he talks like i would have spoken if i'd been in charge of the world at 14 years old. he scrambles sound like he's angry with his parents. these are great because he reaches his pubuc great because he reaches his public very that was that was terrible very i don't do but addressing him beat me at accents i can't do any i won't try addressing his followers on his own we should hasten to add he said christmas to everyone , he said christmas to everyone, including the radical left marxists that are trying to this man. hey charles. that's right. josh they're fbi, the illegally coercing and paying social and lame stream media. yeah. you lamestream media push a mentally democrats over the brilliant clairvoyant and us loving donald j trump i mean something third
5:29 am
person always always fascinating is the i mean what's to love about that sometimes . i mean about that sometimes. i mean i know this we're talking about people's lot the reason this is funny to me because he's no longer in power when he was in power , i did enjoy it just as power, i did enjoy it just as much. but so i have to say it, it was missing michigan, you know . no, no, from it from a know. no, no, from it from a kind of a comedic point of view. oh, he's just so and so, oh, sure. he's just so and so, like of material. yeah. like a lot of material. yeah. i mean, the that he's mean, even the fact that he's calling himself a clairvoyant. so you can see the future. oh it's won't the it's christmas. i won't be the youngest to be sent to youngest going to be sent to jail he's not going to win jail for he's not going to win hearts. he's won hearts. i mean he's he's won over people that. you know, over the people that. you know, it's still touch and go 20, 24 is looking less likely a is looking less likely like a donald trump perhaps that's donald trump win. perhaps that's a . probably could see a santos win. probably could see the republicans getting back, but he he only has one method. now there's this sort of . well, now there's this sort of. well, i don't know what , you call it, i don't know what, you call it, but we're not getting slugging people off. how do you write off how do finish off every how do you finish off every donald trump story count donald trump story never count them out . now you got 1000
5:30 am
them out. now you got 1000 times. now monday's independent and is putin really ready to negotiate it? angela oh, so interesting so putin says russia ready to negotiate eight as ukrainian soldiers enjoy dinner, which is a misleading sort of headline, because i suggest that they're sitting eating christmas dinner, guys and tapping on the shoulder, say, i am to shoulder, say, i am ready to talk, that's not happening. talk, but that's not happening. that's that's not what's that's not that's not what's happening here. so he that happening here. so he says that he's nixon goes over the he's ready nixon goes over the war in ukraine but kyiv and allies have refused to engage in. so he's told a newspaper this. and i think that's that's a good thing that he's he's willing negotiate . do you willing negotiate. do you believe him though i mean he's accused ukraine in the west of to pull historical russia apart which signals that he still wants control of the territories he's got. yeah and so fair enough. okay and that seems be a non—negotiable point. however well, fair enough that that's what he wants. so the ukrainians saying no no fair enough that that that's that's not
5:31 am
negotiable. that's what you're saying is. however however right to make war to make what it takes to fight because obviously invaded and then we've been given and i think maybe he's running out of weapons don't do that can we just put that on it doesn't make they a doesn't make they invaded a sovereign okay and sovereign nation. okay and i just my of view please . just my of view please. gentlemen, please hold on hold . gentlemen, please hold on hold. yeah. it'sjust gentlemen, please hold on hold. yeah. it's just that if you want to negotiate peace to or afghanistan then this is joking that. afghanistan then this is joking that . i was afghanistan then this is joking that. i was going to say. but if he wants to have peace, then like maybe they should listen to him and maybe him halfway. because obviously the point is that he thinks the russian speaking part should be right. so maybe give him a little bit, maybe just get to the table and then talk because if you just me down completely, i said, well, you're not speaking for them all you're not speaking for them all you well know. well, well, okay. they have not given my opinion . they have not given my opinion. ihave they have not given my opinion. i have not. if someone invaded the uk and took the well speaking parts or the gaelic speaking parts or the gaelic speaking parts or the gaelic speaking parts then you know
5:32 am
they are part of the uk. you don't and by the way i am speaking for them because they are very clearly said that they want that. they to want to do that. they want to get crimea and they should. get crimea back and they should. that part their land that that was part of their land that was of their sovereign was part of their sovereign nation. going to nation. well then we're going to carry a war that's going carry on with a war that's going to kill us. unfortunately, we're not going. we will are and it's costing a war costing them very. i'm a war mongering person. i believe war mongering person. i believe war mongering i think that if you mongering is i think that if you if you get to the table, if you can have a talk and if you can be completely zero tolerance and zero listening to anything that's zero tolerance. hey, that's no zero tolerance. hey, he sovereign nation. he invaded a sovereign nation. how that ? he invaded ukraine how is that? he invaded ukraine by gosh, i know what happened i was here this last year. we were covering the stories. but i'm just saying what comparable to that possibly because this is obviously an opinion at the end of the day. and i'm just giving the other side that perhaps that's maybe something that we need to consider, not what i'm saying. it sounds exciting to
5:33 am
cause putin's side to say. but anyway , fire it off. we've got anyway, fire it off. we've got our opinions. we're going to move on. that's part two in the bag. look at us. getting old, debating adults. they're coming and aggressively aiming christmasy town climate change loving reindeers and the real reason behind boxing day footy . reason behind boxing day footy. it's christmas time so you into .
5:34 am
5:35 am
welcome back let's have a look at monday's mail and have you ever considered switching up your christmas cuisine to . kfc your christmas cuisine to. kfc surjewala well so this is a fun story in the daily mail. kentucky fried christmas. it says the heading while you're talking to your turkey, all of us have been today kfc is across japan will be packed with diners who've ordered weeks in advance to get a get a dirty chicken.
5:36 am
they're going to be dismissed off of a serious story of this nature. but this comes every yeah nature. but this comes every year. it doesn't it's like it's a pub quiz question. this you know what ? what's the japanese know what? what's the japanese prefer day? prefer to eat on christmas day? it's now. i'm not the only it's kfc now. i'm not the only one. you heard this story one. have you heard this story before? never. no, no. before? i've never. no, no, no. so perhaps. perhaps it is news to people. feels like to some people. it feels like i mean, my dad does a lot pub quizzes, the sort of thing that it relish knowing and it would relish knowing and would but some would show off about. but some get your anger issues get out your anger issues towards dad. sorry. towards your dad. sorry. yeah, he watching. and i'll he is watching. well, and i'll have chat with him afterwards. have a chat with him afterwards. you know, he is boring. you're right, thank you for right, josh thank you for confirming. thought confirming. i thought this is actually very soldiers get transmit around the world paul they tell us the reason why they eat kfc. come on. no, i can't. oh, well, there we go. look, because it's my story. so maybe tell right ? well, that was tell you right? well, that was the brainchild of turkish aclara . he's the manager of the first kfc in the country, according to bbc. right. so basically what you did, he said he had a dream. not exactly luther king kind of dream. he said he had a dream that was dreaming
5:37 am
that he was dreaming that everybody kfc and, everybody eating kfc and, basically. then he started selling kfc but when he selling the kfc but when he started selling the kfc, it had the right of white signs. in japan, they have the barbers with the red of my and they mistook it for a barbers and they he kind of like they kept in so he kind of like said know this is what said hey you know this is what they do in america and you know, and they they have like kentucky fried chicken for christmas. is that traditional thing. that really traditional thing. yeah. really yeah. so it made it really popular and he says he feels a bit guilty. he feel that bit guilty. he doesn't feel that guilty everybody make guilty because everybody make loads of money out of and loads of money out of it and it's the most profitable time of the actually can the year and actually i can believe there's believe this because there's other gone to other countries i've gone to where seen as a of where mcdonald's is seen as a of a it was once, you a big thing. it was once, you know, in the early i mean so theyi know, in the early i mean so they i did know by the way, it has been a bit cheeky that josh and like it was and i felt like it was stretching the story so that they do it but they did wandering barbers with the wandering into barbers with the red thing that red and white thing that confused because confused me slightly because well a haircut well they going to get a haircut on day it just did he on christmas day it just did he just black and so it's like just black and so it's not like thighs instead back thighs
5:38 am
thighs instead your back thighs or whatever i don't know how i didn't want to know where i'm going but his name you that's not bad for christmas day . well, not bad for christmas day. well, paul not bad for christmas day. well, paul, you you lost me at barber's . yes. i'm sorry. got barber's. yes. i'm sorry. got very upset. let's take a look at monday's mirror poll. is this overkill? yes inside festive tinsel . inside overkill? yes inside festive tinsel. inside a overkill? yes inside festive tinsel . inside a festive town tinsel. inside a festive town called santa claus, which celebrates christmas year round. now there's no respite. they're saying from festivities for residents of santa claus , residents of santa claus, indiana. i believe there's also one in arizona, but it's not quite as popular obviously in the us where larger than life statues of father christmas gnnned statues of father christmas grinned down on all year round. now i love christmas. i think i'm getting a sense we all quite enjoy christmas it's been nice to be here everybody's been well you know little be with our families but it has been lovely to be in here because everybody's self festive what you've done about 17 hours work today just know is today just so you know is energises but you know i
5:39 am
energises him but you know i mean wizards said it you know they'd like it to be every day but i wouldn't oh. my god, you know, these are so magical is like this is my ideal story. had noidea like this is my ideal story. had no idea this place existed. you tend to visit? know. tend to visit? yes i know. because you said you're going away there's away somewhere where there's sort of lapland. you type places. i didn't that, places. so i didn't know that, that this existed. i am going there. christmas is my favourite time tell you what time of. the year. tell you what it's like. literally left to us immigrants to christmas immigrants to keep christmas alive. blandest alive. we've done the blandest turkey everything. ago we turkey everything. years ago we used it all curried used to have it all curried turkey stuff we've turkey and stuff and now we've doneit turkey and stuff and now we've done it proper lapland and everything coming over christmas. i christmas honestly. but would love to here and but i would love to go here and it's groundhog day. but it's like groundhog day. but with christmas can't think of with christmas i can't think of anything. christmas anything. there are christmas shops uk that run all shops all around uk that run all year round in shanklin, the isle of christmas not of wight big christmas shop, not sponsored, is a nice sponsored, but it is a nice place. i'm going. you miss it come quiz. oh, okay. well have a look now. the daily this finish on this one and a fitting just in time for boxing day. so gina so does anybody know why boxing day is there? well part from
5:40 am
paul day is there? well part from paul, mr. quiz pub quiz. day is there? well part from paul, mr. quiz pub quiz . well paul, mr. quiz pub quiz. well headune paul, mr. quiz pub quiz. well headline in today's time only just realising why football is played boxing day. so apparently , you know unlike our european counterparts , boxing day matches counterparts, boxing day matches happened on christmas day and boxing day because it was for the working person to be able to go to football, which they couldn't for the rest of the yeah couldn't for the rest of the year. and then what? the 1871 bank holiday , which . one of our bank holiday, which. one of our favourite favourite alexa which was obviously superseded another one that gave us more bank holidays and now traditionally it's a week because bank holidays and because christmas day is more about family boxing day, it's about the game. and there is a game actually bringing us to now which is both for which the present day the supporters see supporters will get to see favourite premier league teams in action on boxing day for the first time world will cup first time since world will cup break november merseyside break in november, merseyside is host to world cup winners amy
5:41 am
martinez and alex mccallister are really killed up because i hate football, so i don't say i love i love boxing day because it's shopping, i love football, love christmas, i love boxing day, boxing days more probably my actually, my favourite day actually, because it's all about because for me it's all about the the nibbles the footy. because for me it's all about thill the nibbles the footy. because for me it's all about thill watche nibbles the footy. because for me it's all about thill watch every.es the footy. because for me it's all about thill watch every moves footy. because for me it's all about thill watch every move as oty. i will watch every move as you've got the left. they don't look enjoy the leftovers. exactly and i will watch every, every football game that's on the tomorrow. absolutely the tv tomorrow. i absolutely love i used to a love it. and i used to be a season ticket holder at portsmouth going wow. yeah portsmouth going to. wow. yeah me and six other either but it was it was one of my favourite fixtures of the year. okay, well, fair enough. that's it. three coming up, the festivities . we've got christmas fail is an .we've got christmas fail is an interesting take on an ice rink. and finally, as year draws to a close , some actual good news . close, some actual good news. see you into .
5:42 am
5:43 am
5:44 am
welcome back to the final part of headliners back with this story from monday's times. and finally got some good news. paul cheer us all. i will try my best, josh. and it's good to read out some good news for a change just as well headline all about actually making fun of the but this is actually some genuinely news so this year may have felt like perma crisis and they word year they word for this year i shouldn't used it for 2022 shouldn't have used it for 2022 but certainly feel like but it certainly did feel like a crisis couldn't stop crisis you couldn't stop scrolling through doomscrolling, by , is another word i by the way, is another word i never use before this year. that's where you just cannot stop looking at the bad news. but we can take heart there was is a strong avatar? the is there a strong avatar? the world getting better the world is getting better all the time. knew this, time. we always knew this, justin. knew this. and justin. we always knew this. and there the times and there are this is the times and they three good news they list three good news stories. i'm going to look at the couple i quite like . so the a couple i quite like. so there's some big there's been some big breakthroughs for fighting tropical diseases 2022 now a
5:45 am
well mean i don't get see for me that's exotic it's still got monkey pox and whatnot but you know, i mean the idea of getting a tropical disease is an aspiration for me. so the fact that they're now going feel slightly sad about it, no middle class. no, unfortunately. but i wish i wanted to get out of here . falling . cancer deaths are falling across substantially. that's that's really now. i don't like what they've said about i just like go to rwanda. well, this is this is a great point, actually, because let me just read it quickly. so saying followed substantially across europe. the united japan. united states, canada and japan. and that it's on and in revealed that it's on track to become the first country in the to world eliminate cancer. so we eliminate cervical cancer. so we should be sending people to rwanda just reporting the rwanda just reporting to the times say i've a favourite mine's number four so millions of alzheimer's patients were given hope after a new drug was to show memory just seemed us .
5:46 am
to show memory just seemed us. seven to do this is a really great thing because i just it's a sadness the most hilarious disease of course and you know we all know someone we do it . we all know someone we do it. i'm destined to get it and i need this cure. all we need is a cure is amazing. i'm so excited. i agree with you. that's the one for me. yeah absolutely. stood out because i've always that's the reason why i've got five kids because it's like someone is want mine. someone's is going to want mine. someone's going remember someone's going to remember someone's going to remember someone's going watch my bottom with going to watch my bottom with five your are now five kids all your are now panicking other panicking looking each other go you me is that but yeah you know me is that but yeah thatis you know me is that but yeah that is a great story that's the some here that maybe aren't as good news as sort of purporting to be not so you know the stuff about here about italy banning it slaughter of male chicks which one number this is number 12 this is not a scotland i mean it just seems like a chicken duck. i don't know what that male chick said. that is very sexist , doesn't it? it's very sexist, doesn't it? it's very doesit sexist, doesn't it? it's very does it say about sex? and i'll say male chicks. male excuse
5:47 am
can't. but there is there is a lot of good stuff. i mean actually raises quite an interesting point. of course, as you're saying how like doomsday and doomscrolling and what not and doomscrolling and what not and yes, the media and we are part of that media or not, which seems incredible as we're all three three comedians myself. it's all he's. yeah, yeah, everyone is who we used to be in the green room and cracking jokes and whatnot. but yes, there seems to be this idea of pushing for this narrative . pushing for this narrative. constant doom, constant things going bad. but there books out there that argue we are very much on as a species is on an upward trajectory . and if you upward trajectory. and if you can sort of look back , take can sort of look back, take a more macro view of every course things all moving in right direction. i mean you take the victorian as a three person, you positive person, you come across as very positive. i genuinely i would well there are people watching this that might be disagree with i do that's that's my attitude in life is quite
5:48 am
positive but i can be one thing and on i am a pollyanna like a real positive i always try and spin that was like you a poly poly spin that was like you a poly poly yeah i'm no poly polyamorous. yeah i'm no i'm if i should come out searching they should yeah so i am a bit more pollyanna but you know if you look at the know i think if you look at the positive thing, find the positive thing, you find the positive. and sounds really positive. and that sounds really cheesy, true because cheesy, but it's true because that's little but that's a nice little chris but that's a nice little chris but that can continue should big news. oh right these things we've a lot of those stories i know we have but you're right is usually sort of you know been told as they say in the old newspaper world anyway mondays now and it looks like liza reindeers they might actually be a fan climate change but yeah so the arctic warming is not bad for everybody concern for the plight of centres favourite sleep killers is mounting, but in one small corner of a far flung part flawless small . oh, flung part flawless small. oh, small. so this law is becoming potentially dodgy . but rudolph
5:49 am
potentially dodgy. but rudolph and his are thriving and they're thriving because this particular type of grass that looks like a popsicle is to poke its head through . the snow and ice for through. the snow and ice for the reindeer to eat, which is great. so are thriving. but you know, i mean , is 2022 reindeer know, i mean, is 2022 reindeer is a great a love of the songs rudolph and a nose and all that but surely there should be at least hybrid by now or electric you think tesla the green nosed reindeer it doesn't get more natural than a reindeer but i think if you think of the methane, look at the gas emissions. yeah, exactly. we think the methane these think of the methane and these are fine, but are popsicle plants. fine, but given them in diminutive size. this is the chapter that was interesting, me them interesting, me giving them divinity, though santa might need a smaller sleigh need invest in a smaller sleigh . i'm not sure they could. i'm not they it they just not sure they could it they just might a little obese is might be a little bit obese is he fat shaming santa? it's he is he fat shaming santa? it's just logical me just logical that. show me santa. let's just go. santa health issues. yeah, right . santa. let's just go. santa health issues. yeah, right. he's obese, right? let's go back , obese, right? let's go back, which is obviously around the heart . he's obviously liable to
5:50 am
heart. he's obviously liable to get like diabetes, heart attacks and strokes. i think should be worried about something. well, he is magical. hopefully he could get thin. then why ? i could get thin. then why? i guess because he likes the look . it doesn't go up and down his way. don't be the way our lives. yeah you know, actually having smaller reindeer, that's just the way that it's going now. it's by you, but all the it's either by you, but all the presidents getting smaller, presidents are getting smaller, as get digitised. as small as they get digitised. oh is morning edition. but oh this is morning edition. but not. it's actually only. you only some light tiny little only need some light tiny little reindeers take reindeers to actually take around. the bit i me around. but the bit i into me was a of a sciencey thing was a bit of a sciencey thing was a bit of a sciencey thing was i noticed even was that i had noticed even thought before as a thought of before as a consideration is because of global warming. what is happening to global climate change or whatever you want to call it now the there's more rain. so what the rain does is it melts the snow and then that freezes and it becomes ice. and that having an impact on the other end is because normally if it was soft snow, they could they could manage to dig through that. but the can't actually dig
5:51 am
through ice and yet the cold rain dia spell different . oh, my rain dia spell different. oh, my gosh. just . the sun now . and how gosh. just. the sun now. and how is this for a christmas fail ? is this for a christmas fail? okay, so wrap it up . it's cold. okay, so wrap it up. it's cold. my mom is fuming after expensive alternative brother use for gift wrap. so this lady bought some very expensive wallpaper for her wal l £62 wallpaper her oh in the wall £62 wallpaper her oh in the money and the money i think that's a kind of like i mean she doesn't know how many roll s £62 doesn't know how many rolls £62 for one row. i don't know. just some leftover. yeah so basically that way i'm using, you some leftover. yeah so basically that way i'm using , you know that way i'm using, you know there. oh we have, i didn't see there. oh we have, i didn't see the photo now what do you think of that. but that does like russia is like sort of like a japanese vibe but japanese of yeah, i'm going to go. sorry, but no t £2. yeah. i'm not but it's not £2. yeah. i'm not paying but it's not £2. yeah. i'm not paying 62 for wrapping paper. i'm sorry love. i think you think it's genuine wrapping. yeah, i think it's genuine scottish. scottish sun thickness. can that just
5:52 am
thickness. i can tell that just showing about having a good showing off about having a good £62 wrapping paper, £62 while wrapping paper, i think i have think i think actually i have used old, you know, little remnants that get left not remnants that you get left not £62 worth, but you know recycling isn't a dodgy that happen on christmas or as much as same thing my dad as me the same thing my dad thinking was a bit of thinking he was a bit of a comedian he's not tall and he's watching watch and going watching these watch and going into and often enough i've into dad's and often enough i've seen him today. i'm coming in on what your dad bought. told what your dad bought. he told me, oh, he told me that black eyes with sweets . he told me eyes with sweets. he told me that black eyes were sweets so in school in front of the whole class when was asked what i'd like for christmas, i my teacher, i would like my dad to give a black eye. wow. and give me a black eye. wow. and then they she said, i mean, so she was not same thing. i she was not that same thing. i was just like, oh did you on off on mondays daily star and i on onto mondays daily star and i don't know about you , paul, but don't know about you, paul, but i've got cold feet about this ice skating rink . i said, this ice skating rink. i said, this does make me laugh. this this because it's all i'll tell this story because it just reminds me of how desperate as parents we can be to entertain our kids, to
5:53 am
shoppers outraged by skating with no ice, where kids have to tap dance the frozen world. there is a type of ice rink for the working class is josh where it's not ice and it's basically a for a floor but you can ice skating skates to skate around on it and i've essentially this here but if you can't skate too well it's not like ice so let's just ended up you know, clapping their skates onto this hard surface , paying it forward, surface, paying it forward, like, can i just give it marie antoinette moment and up , antoinette moment and sign up, let skate. why not? let them roller skate. why not? they could have jumped in the roller your skates roller skate your roller skates on and still use and also on kate's and still use and also torvill and dean they did 19 9081 they did a routine called false top. maybe they learnt that without ice . so look at 12 that without ice. so look at 12 and dean ended up so got kids imagine i would be very angry if i had gone to the rink and there'd no actual ice have we all done something like this? desperately trying entertain desperately trying to entertain children ? us. there's hundreds children? us. there's hundreds of know, this of children and you know, this is thing where you just
5:54 am
is sort of thing where you just turn thinking this better be turn up thinking this better be good quid or good i paid like 22 quid or whatever and all of a whatever ticket and all of a sudden it is just some. yeah, i was expecting them to say the this was trotters this was from trotters independent because independent or something because this just smacks of some chance i. don't know from the guardian now . it looks like these centres now. it looks like these centres i've got a bit to merry. this is a jailer. you can't like this stuff. so pop son his get armoured vehicle stuck in cornish hedge do you go to the group of sons is out on a field and by that i you know those yeah yeah oh no i didn't see one of its headlines so yeah it's a group percenters all dressed up as and it's not real scientists obviously they they got wedged in a narrow in this vintage vehicle and they want a pub crawl we've got some video going on now we have have we got everybody. us it is as well. yeah oh wow. what are they doing . how many centres does it take. fill up a narrow lane. yeah so on social media, people are saying things like an army tank. yes. an army tank driven by
5:55 am
several inebriated santas trying to get to a pub in an go who've got stuck in the way . love this got stuck in the way. love this story. another person joked. i've seen it all now. tank being driven. several santas try to get into an a and a crack got wedged and blocked the entrance to the village so nobody else could come by this a drink driving incident but no. apparently none of them were none them were tested positive. oh yeah. because that's because the police came and they were like, yeah, we're in a tiny do about that. i would like got or he or i got a tank. alright well let's finish and a story to end from the mirror about couple of christmas song scrooges like me. yeah i do too . and they are yeah i do too. and they are scrooges couple who hate lamb's last christmas race grand to buy it and stop it being now i think it's an absolute banger this is a great love it i love it it's one of my favourites is absolutely of my if i'm an atheist kid anyway i think we probably die today to save us.
5:56 am
oh author oh michael oh jesus author oh michael george. michael, george. michael in 2015 time it's on again. it's only but these are the sort of people stop things like just stop oil online i know i hate to be one this year i didn't get one today you go on today if you survived is okay i one christmas but i'm sorry this is a joyless miserable of a couple and i hate them wow . so tell us really them wow. so tell us really anything i mean it's funny they are really to get this tweet in it cost of living crisis you raised 16,000 given give it to the food banks. it was selfish that selfish. that's how i would you something she thinks that merry christmas everybody . yes merry christmas everybody. yes thank you to my wonderful guest to jean akashi and paul cox headliners. we'll be back tomorrow 11 with steve and alan christo whetton and francis foster . from all of us here at foster. from all of us here at gb news, we hope you've had a very merry christmas . yes. hi
